A Festival to Remember
SUMMARY: Chris Evans loves film festivals, this one doesn’t go quite as planned. He runs into someone he just cannot forget, as the night goes on he realized he doesn’t want to.
WARNINGS: maybe some grammatical errors, idk kissing, this is my first fan fiction so pardon me if it’s a little rough.
PAIRINGS: Chris Evans x reader
[H/C]= Hair color
{E/C]= Eye color
I kinda got carried away so the word count is: 5667
If this takes off I will probably write a part II but we’ll take this one day at a time.
*****************************************************************************************************
The Sundance Film Festival has always been one of his favorite. The Utah scenery was always so beautiful; snow covered mountains, beautiful historic buildings, trees sprinkled all over, and amazing sunsets. It was unlike every other film festivals he goes to every year, this one was always his favorite for many reasons. It was never crowded like the other festivals, so he had the chance to walk main street in Park City; which he always loved.
This year there were a lot of interesting films to be shown during the festival. He was staring in one or two so he did have quite a few interviews he was going to have to attend but he was ready to get to the after parties and relax. The interviews always made him a little anxious, he knew they were always picking apart every sentence he uttered trying to find deeper meaning where there wasn’t any. His manager and publicist knew that he was always a little anxious so they tried to spread the interviews out throughout the entirety of his stay. He was just waking up and starting his day, his schedule was decently packed today; gym, get ready, interview, interview, movie, interview, interview, and finally he would get to relax.
****************************************
He breathed a sigh of relief, he had just finished his final interview and was putting his jacket on. The winters in Utah were always extremely cold especially during the time of this festival, late January into early February was damn near the coldest time of the year.
He finally exited the building, he was at the bottom of main street so he turned east to starting walking up main street. He had spoken with his Avengers costars and there was a plan to meet up at one of restaurants along main street, he knew he would be a bit early but decided to head there to get a table. He would be meeting with Sebastian, Anthony, RDJ, and both Chris’, they were all extremely excited to finally get to meet up with each other again.
Chris was checking his phone to make sure the plans were still on when he bumped into someone knocking both their phones to the ground. His face turned immediately red, he bent down picking up both phones. As he stood they both immediately started apologizing;
“oh my god, I am so sorry! I was checking my phone and wasn’t paying attention. I am so sorry about your phone also, it doesn’t look like the screen broke; though there are some scuffs on the case”
“no it’s not your fault at all! I should’ve been paying more attention to where I was going. I am so sorry, if your screen broke please let me at least pay to fix it!”
While they were both apologizing at the same time, while finishing their sentences at the same time they finally caught eye contact with each other. They locked eyes and neither said anything for a few seconds; they just stood there staring at each other, neither blinking. He was looking at her thinking that she was one of the most beautiful things he’s ever seen, she was absolutely breathe taking. As he did a quick scan of her face he saw her long [h/c] that was in loose curls, it seemed to lay just right under her beanie, her eyes were a striking [e/c], her skin tone only seemed to make her eyes pop, she had a few sprinkles, her lips looked luscious, she had her scarf tied perfectly so it covered her chest and was tucked into her jacket. He felt a tug in his chest; he had to know her name, he had to hear her laugh, he had to know how his name sounded falling from her lips. As he scanned her face he could tell that she was scanning his doing a quick once over, she was the first to break. She blinked but it still took her a second to realize who he actually was. Once it finally clicked in her head she was still star struck, it took her another second to realize that her mouth opened to speak but no words came out; she just stood there, mouth open, looking like an idiot. He was the first to break the silence.
“I think my screen is ok but I appreciate your offer. Maybe instead of a phone screen you can let me buy you a drink of some coffee?”
She still just stood there blinking, not only could she not believe that she had bumped into Chris Evans she also couldn’t believe that he had asked her out. Her brain started working 1,000 miles a minute; she wanted to speak to tell him that she would love to go out with him but her mind just couldn’t tell her mouth to speak and tell him you would love to go out. To finally break the silence Chris spoke again.
“Or not if you’re not into that sort of thing, or if you’re not into me. It’s really no big deal but I just feel bad for bumping into you and making you drop your phone which scuffed up your phone case. I just wanted to repay you in some way but I also just wanted to get to know you…”
She thought his nervous rambling was probably the cutest thing she’d ever heard. She was absolutely stunned that she made Chris Evans nervous. Her, an ordinary nobody, was making Chris Evans nervous. Her brain finally actually started working and she was able to make her mind use words to form sentences.
“I would absolutely love to go get a drink or coffee with you. Also don’t worry about my phone case, it’s there to get scuffed up anyway. Are you busy right now? Or does later work for you? I’m up here for the next few days but even after that I only about 45 minutes away so I am available whenever. Oh god that made me sound so desperate and pathetic”
She exhaled harshly and gave a soft laugh, shaking her head and running her hand through her hair which gave him the impression that she was as nervous as he was. Her showing that she was nervous made him feel a little better, it calmed his stomach only a little because then it mind reminded him that if she is nervous it must mean she likes him and that would open a whole new can of worms for him.
“Well unfortunately I have a dinner planned with some friends, while normally I would blow them off to take someone like you to dinner, that I can’t miss. If you give me your number we can meet up after words and maybe get a drink or something?”
A bright blush spread across her face, she could only tell because of the heat she felt on her face. She reached for her phone their hands barely brushing, she slipped it into her pocket before speaking up.
“That works for me, if you unlocked your phone I can give you my number.”
Her eyes lit up and her lips open and curl to the edges, her smile quickly grows into one that shows her teeth. Chris smiles back and she can see a small glint in his eyes when he smiles. ‘God he is beautiful’ is all that crosses her mind. Chris stutters for a second reaching for his pocket to grab his phone before realizing it’s still in his hand. He unlocked the phone and hands it over to her, he watches as her fingers move nimbly over the screen. He worries for a second that she might’ve given him a fake number. He barely hears her phone go off, she hands him his phone back and their hands touch both letting their hands linger for a moment. He smirks at her looking down at his phone to see that she texted herself so she had his number as well. He was unsure of how to say goodbye; does he kiss her on the cheek? Does he hug her? Do they just wave goodbye? His question is finally answered when she leans in and places a kiss on his cheek.
“Well I guess I will be seeing you later Mr. Evans.”
Then she turned and walked across the street, once she crossed she looked back at him smiling so brightly he thought it could out shine the sun. She blushed again quickly turning her head before continuing to walk away. He wondered why she was alone until she saw her link up with a small group of friends. He felt like their interaction had lasted for an hour but looking at the time on his phone it only took about 5 minutes. He still would be early to his dinner which had him sad because he could’ve spent a little more time with her. He looked for her again but she had disappeared. He sighed then headed to where they were all supposed to meet.
***********************************************************************
He arrived at the place they were planning to meet at, a restaurant called the Riverhorse on Main. It had excellent google reviews and it was located close to the middle of main street so it was convenient for everyone who would be meeting. He let the host know that there would be 5 people joining him, the host smiled trying hard not to stare. Chris gave a polite tight lipped smile back following her. The host was a cute enough girl but he couldn’t pull his mind off the girl he and just ran into. He was taking about how adorable she was when the light pink of a blush crept onto her face. The host sat him down and he realized that he never he got her name. He was in awe of her and didn’t even get her name, as he pulled out his phone he was slightly embarrassed because he wasn’t sure how he was going to ask her for her name.
He had a slight smile on his face when he picked up the phone and saw the unknown number. His face fully lit up when he opened the text and saw that she had already texted her name. He kept reading and his smile stayed as the brush crept onto his face.
“[Y/N] {Y/L/N}. I know our run in was brief and it wasn’t until after I met up with my friends and told them that I realized you never got my name. I thought you might be too embarrassed to just ask so I thought I would spare you the awkwardness of asking”
She put a smile at the end of the text which made his heart light up like a star. He was happy she had saved him from that, he could already tell that she was something different then most women he came into contact with. He just sat their staring at his phone thinking of a good response when all of his buddies showed up at once.
“uh oh seeing him smile at his phone like that makes me very nervous” Sebastian said with a light chuckle.
“I think it can only mean something good, meet someone on your way here?” Anthony questioned as he pulled his chair out taking a seat.
Chris sat at the head of the table, Sebastian sat next to Chris Hemsworth. Anthony sat across from Hemsworth, Pratt sat across from Sebastian and RDJ sat across from Chris on the other head of the table. Chris had to text her, he didn’t want her thinking that he was ignoring her.
“I just sat down at my dinner, I will text you after and we can meet up for that drink I promised you?”
He hit the send arrow and shoved his phone into his pocket but not before putting it on silent. He knew if he heard the text tone stating she had responded he wouldn’t be able to just leave it, he knew he would have to respond.
*****************************************************************************
Dinner was moving along good, the appetizer had just been set down and they had ordered their entrees. Everyone had either a beer or a glass of wine. They were all involved in the conversation, everyone just chatting away giving their two cents in whenever they felt like it. Everyone was laughing having a wonderful time, when all of a sudden she walked in. He knew it was her by her beautiful [h/c] in the loose girls and by the way her [e/c] pierced into his when she turned and caught sight of him. She was surround by three or four friends, none of them seemed to notice that she paused momentarily and her breathe caught in her throat at the sight of him. He shot her a quick smile and she blushed and turned following the host and her friends.
Luckily for him his friends didn’t see him. He kept staring at her, every so often looking at his friends joining them in laughing and occasionally saying something. The majority of his attention was trained on her, she didn’t seem to notice. He felt the buzz of his phone in his pocket and decided to discreetly check his phone, her name showed up and he immediately opened it.
“Why don’t you take a picture it’ll last longer ;)”
He looked up at his friend who were crunching away on the appetizer and too engulfed in their own conversation to notice him. He was astounded by her, she was gorgeous and witty? He couldn’t say that she was perfect, not yet anyway. He had a tugging in his heart, he was drawn to her, he had to get to know her. Shaking his head slightly he was trying to think of a flirty comeback that wouldn’t look obnoxiously obvious.
“I’m sorry I just couldn’t believe you’re following me, I already promised you a drink afterwards. ;)”
He thought about it for a few seconds not wanting to come off as a jerk or as too anxious. His thumb hovered over the send arrow, he was unsure if he wanted to send it. Was it going to come across and too serious? Was it too flirty? He was racking his brain around it when he felt something hit the crown of his head. He looked up and saw all the men staring at him. He was looking between all them when he thumb fell and hit the send arrow. He hadn’t realized quite yet because he was staring at his friends trying to think of what to say and waiting for them to say something to him. It was Anthony that chimed up first.
“Alright now I am a little worried. You’re never on your phone when we’re together, especially when we are sitting down for dinner. What is going on dude?”
All the men had their brow knit into concern, all the eyes were on him and he didn’t know what to say. He forgot his phone was even in his hands, his anxiety was bubbling up with what to respond to his friends with almost as if on que he got a text from her.
“Well it’s not every day that you run into someone so handsome, how could I not follow you? ;)”
He chuckled in relief that his message wasn’t poorly interpreted, before texting her back he needed get his friends off his back. Now he is a terrible liar, he was trying to concoct some type of lie to give them when suddenly his mouth just got away from him.
“I met someone.”
He must have looked as shocked as they did. All their jaws dropped and none of them were sure how to respond. They all knew Chris was ready to settle down, he had met women before but nothing recently had stuck. They had been having a fun dinner just light conversation and it seem the entire atmosphere of the table changed now. Chris Hemsworth was the next to speak.
“Well then tell us about her! If she’s got you texting during dinner and blushing like a teenager then she must be something special. C’mon now tell us!”
All the other men chimed in with their “yeah’s” and they all leaned in closer. As if someone was looking out for him their entrees arrived right as he opened his mouth. Chris let out a huff as they passed around the entrees. He wanted to get one final text sent before he put his phone away for good. He knew he wouldn’t have time to second guess himself, he was hoping dinner being delivered would help them change the topic. He glanced over at her again she was holding her wine glass and had her head thrown back laughing. God she was stunning.
“I guess I will let it slide this time. ;) I hope you know I am excited to for those drinks. It’s too bad you’re with your friends or I would just invite you to join us now.”
His hands started to sweat a little; he was wanting to be flirty, maybe even a little risqué but he was extremely nervous. She made him nervous, he wanted the chance to get to know her. She intrigued him so much, he still was unsure of a lot but he knew that he at least wanted the chance to get to know her. He was right about his friends. As soon as the entrees were placed with their correct owners all the men started talking about food now. Talking about how their drinks paired well with their food and how their food was perfectly seasoned, cooked well. Chris was in the clear, for now at least. He felt his phone go off in his pocket, he peered over at her again and this time she was looking right at him. She flashed him a mischievous smile then turned back towards her friends. He wasn’t going to open that text, he wasn’t sure what it contained but he didn’t want to be flustered and get caught by his friends.
*******************************************************************************
Everyone finished off their entrées and were slowly picking at their deserts, Chris continued to glance her way as often as he could without looking suspicious to his friends. His dinner was delicious, all he could think about throughout desert was how sweet she probably tasted. He felt a heat in more then one place on his body at the thought, he quickly engaged himself in the conversation to get his mind off of it. He was picking at the last few bites of his desert, he looked over and her table was empty. Her and her friends had gone, he felt his stomach drop a little. He liked her being so close, it made him feel secure; like you weren’t going to ghost him for drinks.
Before he knew it there was a chair next to his with her in it. She was sat close to him, their thighs touching. He was caught off guard by how close she really was, she was much closer now then before. He could really see the streaks of colors in her eyes, he saw how long her eyelashes were. She only had on modest eyeshadow, eye liner, and mascara. She looked good in her natural beauty, he could see the few freckles she had. He could smell her and the wine she had been drinking with dinner. She was smiling bright at him, he wasn’t exactly sure how to react or what his friends were thinking. Luckily she spoke first, barely above a whisper.
“I took your text as an actual invitation. I hope you don’t mind? I figured since you’re having desert your dinner would be done soon and we could start having that drink here and maybe see where the night goes after that?”
He wasn’t sure how to respond he gave her a smile then as he was about to respond RDJ spoke.
“Well, well, well, who do we have here?”
“I think we are about to meet the ‘someone’ he was starting to tell us about.” Sebastian spoke with a single brow raised.
Chris was a little awe struck by everything that was happening, it was all moving so quickly he could barely keep his head on straight.
“Oh he was talking about me was he? Well I hope it was all bad!” her laugh echo’d in his head and down to his chest causing his breathe to catch in this throat. It sounded like the sweetest melody he had ever heard. “I am [Y/N]. I’m not sure what he said but we had a brief run in before this. He told me he couldn’t blow off this dinner and now I know why.”
She smile brightly at his friends, they were all looking her over. Not all of them in a sexual way, more sizing her up. They all worried about Chris, he had such a big heart and no one wanted to see him get hurt. He was worried about any sort of interrogation from his friends. He hadn’t even got to know her yet himself so he wasn’t sure how to respond himself. He didn’t want his friends thinking anything poorly on him or, especially, her. Normally he waited to introduce potential girlfriends to friends until they were closer to being official. His friends were always by his side through it all so he valued their approval on a lot of things in life.
“Well I am sure glad he didn’t blow us off! So tell us about yourself.” Sebastian of course was the first to start the interrogation, he had sized her up initially now he was really looking at her. Chris saw the glint of mischief in his eyes and he didn’t like it one bit.
“Well you know my name, I live here in Utah but I’m not from here. My family moved us here because my parents were in the military, that was long ago and now all my family has moved and scattered. I have 2 dogs that I love more then life itself, uuuummmmm, coming up here has been a tradition for me since I was 16. I am working towards a double bachelors degree and I work full time. I was blonde for a long period of time but then I decided I wanted to go back to brunette. Ummmm theres a lot more but I can’t really think of anything right now.” Chris could tell this made her a little nervous. Almost instinctively he grabbed her had a squeezed lightly just trying to comfort her.
“Well you seem rather interesting. What kind of dogs do you have? Can we see pictures?” Anthony spoke up everyone seemed to be staring right at her, she squeezed his hand back. He could sense she was nervous but she never showed it. She didn’t even stutter or fault under their gazes. She squeeze his hand again then released it grabbing her phone. He saw her open up the photos app and he snuck a peak, her phone was filled with pictures of her dogs, her with her friends and family, and some inspiration quotes.
“Of course you can see pictures of my babies! I will take any opportunity to talk about them and show off pictures!” She smiled and let out a giggle. She clicked on a photo that showed both her dogs together. “I have a Pembroke welsh corgi and a ginormous black lab. Zeus is my corgi; he’s a tri color with a little man complex which I take full responsibility for, my ex-husband and I fought over the name I wanted to name him Murph, which was veto’d, then I joked around about naming his Zeus and it stuck. Naming him Zeus I only did the right thing and treated him like the king he is, I mean look how cute he is, how could I not??” Chris heart beat a little faster when he heard she had once been married. It made him feel a little better about being three times divorced. She swiped to a picture that was just of her corgi and handed the phone to Sebastian who looked at it for a second then passed it to Anthony who kept it going until it was handed back to her. All the men chuckling but they were all completely mesmerized by her, all unable to turn their attention from her.
She swiped again to a picked of just one black lab, she smiled a big smile then started speaking again. “Maveryk is my black lab. He was original my husband but he spent more of his life with both of us then with just him so when we separated and divorced I went to court over keeping him. My ex was not happy to say the least. Maveryk is not your typical lab, he is a freaking beast. He weighs about 110 pounds of pure love and fat, it took some time to get his a little chunky but it was so worth it because he is so damn cute a little chunky!” Again she smiled down at her phone then passed the phone around in the same circle. All the men smiling at the picture of the dog, she was in bright yellow life jacket looking up at the camera, if it wasn’t for the grey chin hair you would’ve thought he was a puppy. “Y’all can swipe left and right a little to see a few more pictures of them. I promise you won’t see anything you don’t want to.” She gave a light giggle and all the men blushed.
Chris could hear a light accent when she spoke, he couldn’t quite tell where she was from but he was sure they’d get it out of her soon enough.
***************************************************************************
What was supposed to be drinks between just them turned into drinks with all of them. They had eventually left the restaurant and made their way to an party all the boys had been invited to. All their names were on the list so it wasn’t hard getting her in, she went with Sebastian and Anthony to reserve a booth. Chris asked her what she wanted to drink, he had to lean in close due to how load it was. Being to close his breathe fanned over her neck, he could smell her light perfume and it smelled like floral and vanilla. Chris thought it was more intoxicating then any drink he could order, he asked her what she wanted then pulled away. She leaned it close enough that her lips brush again the shell of his ear which made his heart flutter and his breathing stop. She order something kind of fruity but he knew it would pack a punch.
They other men order all the drinks and made their way to the booth. Sam was sat next to Sebastian on one side and an empty seat on the other, he took the opportunity to slide in next to her. He set her drink down then moved his hand to rest on her thigh closer to her knee then the apex of her thigh, he wasn’t wanting to make her uncomfortable but he was wanting to make sure she felt secure if his friends started interrogating her again. Her thigh was tense when he initially touched it but she immediately relaxed under his touch which made him feel good. He was calming her and he liked it, it made from breathe a sigh of relief.
**********************************************************************
They all spent at least two or three hours at the party. But the time they left everyone was well acquainted with each other, Chris could tell she was holding back some not wanting to show all of herself just yet. She hugged each of them as they parted was, Sebastian was the last to hug her. His hug lingered a little longer then Chris would’ve liked, Sebastian then hugged Chris and whispered into his ear.
“Don’t mess this one up, she’s a keeper. If you do mess it up let me know so I can swoop in!” He chuckled lightly before continuing “I already got her number. But don’t worry I really am rooting for you.”
He tensed a little at first, he could tell by the way Sebastian was looking at her all night that he was feeling her a little too. She had a decent buzz going so he wasn’t sure if she even noticed. She sat closer to Chris but leaned into Sebastian every so often when he was talking, he made her laugh which made her lean in even closer. Which did make Chris a little nervous at first, that was until she grabbed his hand and intertwined their fingers. She kept their hands under the table but used her thumb to gently stroke the back of his hand, he wasn’t sure if it was because of the alcohol in her system or what but he enjoyed it while he could.
All of his friends had dissipated which left only the two of them standing in front of each other. He didn’t want to come off too forward but he also wasn’t ready for the night to end, he wasn’t sure that he would get another chance with her. He thought the night had gone really well but his anxiety got the best of him causing him to worry that she wouldn’t want to see him again. He stood there staring at her, she stood there staring right back. He could tell her mind was working on something to say, he was just hoping she was going to say something that would cause them to spend more time together. She spoke first.
“Where are you staying at? Where do celebrities even stay during events like this? Is stuff just provided for you? I am staying at the Chateuax Deer Valley, it’s only like a 3 minute drive from here. We can walk back to where you’re staying or I can drive you? I mean that is if you even want to keep spending time with me, wow that was ballsy of me to just assume you would want to spend more time with me. Now I am nervously rambling and this is probably making this whole situation even worse. Wow I am just making the best impression!” She removed her beanie and ran her hand through her hair, she then replaced her beanie back on her head. She was blushing and anyone could tell she was extremely nervous. Chris gave a light chuckle before replying.
“What a coincidence, I am also staying at the Chateuax Deer Vally, if you don’t mind a ride would be nice. Otherwise I can just call the car service they have set up for us.” Chris never took his eyes off her, he saw her should drop and he could almost see the nerves fall away from her.
“Well I already offered the ride so of course I don’t mind!”
**********************************************************************
The walk to her car was filled with his stories, he enjoyed the way she listened intently to him. She was absorbing what he was saying, taking all of it in. Asking questions every so often, she was trying to learn about him and he enjoyed it.
The car ride to the hotel she told a funny and embarrassing story about her child hood, she was animated as she spoke. Moving her hands wildly, luckily the car ride was short. They spoke almost in sync stating which rooms they were in. They weren’t staying in the same building, they were across the compound from each he walked her back to the building she was staying in. He didn’t want to say goodbye but he didn’t want to impose or make her uncomfortable. They stood there for a little while; neither of them wanting to walk away but neither of them sure what the others intentions were. He wasn’t going to push her into anything, he let her make the next move.
“Well it is getting late and I am sure you have a busy day tomorrow so I will let you go. Maybe if you aren’t too busy we could get a meal together? Maybe Breakfast or dinner? Or another drink? That is if you want to…” He just loved that she was nervous rambling, he thought it was adorable.
“Of course I want to spend more time with you. When I get back to my room I will look at my itinerary and let you know. I will be sure we get to spend some time tomorrow. I will text you.” She smiled and bowed her head.
He slowly started going in for a hug, he was looking her face over again and stared at her lips. She did the same, she scanned his eyes then went to his lips. She went back and forth between the two. He wanted to kiss her but he was unsure, she went for it. She pressed her lips against his and he immediately returned her kiss. It was passionate and gentle, there was no ulterior motive. His hand initially cupped her face but when he moved it to the back of her head she moan ever so slightly letting him slip his tongue into her mouth. They began making out, Chris thought he had died and gone to heaven. It felt like hours when she finally pulled away needing to breathe, she didn’t pull far just enough that their noses brushed. They looked each other in the eye. She said her goodbyes and walked into her building. Chris was giddy the entire time back to his building, it took everything in him not to sprint back so he could check his itinerary. He was hooked on her after only a few hours.

Can you do a story with Steven and Spinel dressing up as different animals with a nose mask with each of their animal costumes?
AN: Thank you so much for sending this request! I actually had fun doing it! I had to make it Halloween bc tbh I couldn’t imagine them dressing up in animal costumes any other occasion. I hope you like it ^^
“A week! We gave you a whole week! I can’t believe you couldn’t last a week! No, scratch that! I do believe it!”
Spinel rolled her eyes and continued walking towards the Warp Room, tuning out Yellow Pearl’s useless rambling as said gem followed closely behind her with Blue Pearl and Pink Pearl in tow.
“Aw leave her alone, Yellow!” Pink Pearl said, stepping in to defend Spinel as usual. “What’s wrong with wanting to visit a friend?”
“What’s wrong?! What’s wrong!!! I’ll tell you what’s wrong!!! She does this every single day!! ‘Oh where are you going, Spinel?’ ‘I’m going to visit Steven.’ ‘Oh! Has anyone seen Spinel?’ ‘She’s with Steven, my Diamond.’ With that track record, she’s better off living on Earth with him then staying here in Homeworld.”, Yellow Pearl retaliated, very defensively and with her arms crossed.
“Well...uhm..but Spinel,” Pink Pearl began, searching for what to say. After a few more attempts, she gave up, giving Spinel an apologetic look that told her: ‘She does have a point.’
Yellow Pearl beamed upon seeing this and raised her head up in a very haughty manner. She focused her attention on Blue Pearl. “What do you think, Blue?”
“To be quite honest, it really doesn’t bother me at all. It’s cute that she likes visiting him a lot,” she calmly responded with a small smile on her face, “Besides, Yellow, I thought you were happy about Spinel’s daily trips to Earth. You were talking about it the other day.”
Spinel bit down on her lip, stifling a giggle. Behind her, she heard Pink Pearl try to do the same, but she failed and snorted loudly.
An offended look passed through Yellow Pearl’s face and she crossed her arms, huffing. “At first,” she began to defend herself, “But it gets tiring and frustrating when all your Diamond asks you is: ‘Where’s Spinel? Has anyone seen Spinel?’ I was hoping for a week or more of not having to hear that, but our dear Spinel just couldn’t wait at all! Oh, but 6,000 years? She can definitely wait for that long! That’s nothing for her!”
A thick blanket of silence fell upon everyone the moment those words came out of her mouth.
Pink Pearl stood aside with her hand over her mouth. Blue Pearl’s mouth hung slightly open and with her hands, she pushed back her bangs to reveal her eyes, pupils wide in shock.
It took Yellow Pearl only a matter seconds before she realized what she had just said. She began to stutter, desperately looking for an apology.
“Sp-Spinel! I didn’t m-m-mean it—oh my s-stars!”
It was too late. Before she knew it, she was backed up against a tight corner. Spinel loomed over her, tall and intimidating with her hands balled up into giant fists, ready to take aim. Yellow Pearl gulped and instantly shielded her gem with both her hands.
“S-Spinel! Don’t! She didn’t mean it!” Pink Pearl begged, hands outstretched as if she was about to grab Spinel to stop her, but she didn’t. She held back, only hopeful that her words would get to the gem.
They didn’t. Made obvious by Spinel raising her right hand high over her head.
Yellow Pearl shut her eyes tightly and turned her face away, expecting a very painful blow that never came. Instead, she felt a finger flick her nose, making a loud, audible ‘whack!’ sound.
“H-Huh?” She opened her eyes. Spinel’s large, spiraling, magenta-colored eyes, filled to the brim with dark amusement, were the first thing that greeted her.
“Heh,” the gem chuckled and shook her head softly, “Ya really have a big mouth...For a Pearl. Don’t cha?”
Yellow Pearl remained silent and so did everybody else.
Spinel backed up a few steps. With her arms crossed, she shook her head and clicked her tongue in disapproval. “Gee! With that mouth, I’m very much surprised you’ve been able to hold this position of yours as Yellow Diamond’s Pearl for millions of years. You’re darn lucky things have changed now.”
“I-Spinel…”
She didn’t listen to her. Her eyes roamed around until they landed on the giant Warp Pad in the middle of the room and widened as if she just remembered why she came here in the first place. With a hop, she stretched her way on top of said Pad and warped away without saying anything.
Whatever fear Yellow Pearl had shivering within her disappeared the moment Spinel left and she rolled her eyes, letting out a tremendous sigh. “‘You’re darn lucky things have changed now!’ Bleh!” She mocked, sticking out her tongue.
It went back in the moment Pink Pearl jabbed her elbow into her side.
—-
“Ta-da!! Our last pumpkin for tonight! What do you guys think?” Steven exclaimed with a wide, joyful smile on his face. In his arms, he cradled a large Jack-O-Lantern with a pair of monster eyes and sharp teeth.
“It looks great!” Connie complimented as she walked over and grabbed it from him. She settled it inside the red wagon, alongside the many other Jack-O-Lanterns they made.
“A little bit different than all the others you guys made, don’t you think?” Amethyst said, hopping off from the table to inspect the Jack-O-Lanterns.
She had a point. The majority were decorated with drawings of their closest family and friends: Garnet, Pearl, Bismuth, Lapis, Peridot, the Diamonds, and so on. The only one that actually seemed to be showing the terrifying spirit of Halloween was the one Steven had just finished making.
“That’s actually why I made it,” Steven admitted, chuckling softly, “Now thinking about it though, it kinda sticks out like a sore thumb. Maybe it wasn’t a very good idea…”
The growing sound of squeaky shoes approaching quickly caught their attention. They turn around just in time to see Spinel hop down the stairs and run her way towards Steven. Before he could do anything, he found Spinel’s arms wrapping around him and pulling him in for a hug.
“Steven! My good pal!!” Spinel cheered, smiling widely.
“Spinel! It’s nice to see you!” Steven laughed. He gave her a hug and a pat in the back the moment she let him go.
“Hey Spinny!” Amethyst greeted with a wave. “Where you’ve been? We missed you the last three days.”
“Oh, the Pearls needed me for something that was supposedly important at first,” Spinel said, rolling her eyes. Her eyes then fell upon the wagon full of Jack-O-Lanterns and then the bucket full of candy on the table and then the Halloween decorations hanging on the ceiling. “Hey, wait a darn minute! What’s all this stuff?”
“It’s all of our decorations for Halloween!” Connie explained. The young girl grabbed the candy bucket from the table and walked over to Spinel. She held it out to the gem, offering some. “Here. Take one.”
Spinel looked at it, confused at first, but then she pulled out a round, red lollipop.
“Uhm...what’s Halloween??”
“Oh!” Steven exclaimed. “I completely forgot! This is your first Halloween!”
Amethyst scoffed playfully. “Pfft! This is the first Halloween for nearly every gem at Little Homeworld. Spinel, you should’ve seen the presentation Lapis, Peridot, and Bismuth put up a few days ago! Halloween 101. It was a huge riot!” The small gem’s eyes widened. An idea had popped into her head. “HEEYYY! What if we recreate that! Right now!”
Connie nervously laughed as she remembered the disaster that had been the presentation. “How about we not?” She clapped her hands together before grabbing a hold of the wagon’s handle. “People are going to start trick-or-treating soon, so we should start putting these guys up. Steven will tell Spinel everything there is to know about Halloween. Won’t you, Steven?”
He nodded with a small smile. “I’ll see you guys later! If my dad shows up a little bit early, tell him I’m here with Spinel.”
After the others left, Spinel pulled the wrapper off her lollipop and popped it into her mouth. “Now,” she began, crossing her arms together, “What’s this whole Halloween biz?”
“You remember how I told you about the Fourth of July a few months back, right?”
She nodded.
“Halloween is a holiday just like that one. Minus the fireworks and American flags everywhere and also the barbecue. For Halloween, everyone dresses up in costumes, be it scary, funny, or cute, and go around at people’s houses to get candy.
“Oh,” she took out her lollipop and looked at it, “That’s nice.”
“I know, right!? Free candy for a night!”
“Is there a reason ya guys celebrate it?”
“Well...it’s mostly to have fun and it’s the one night you can go around wearing any costume you want.”
“You can’t wear a costume outside of that?”
Steven shook his head, sadly. “Not unless you work at Freddy Fazbear’s or Duck-Fil-A or any other company that has a mascot that requires a costume. Hey, speaking about costumes, it’s a good thing you came here tonight! I have something to show you
She gave him a quizzical look.
Before she could say or do anything, he grabbed her hand and led her to his room. When they got there, the first thing that caught Spinel’s eyes were the two outfits lying neatly on his bed.
“I was having a hard time picking a costume for this year,” he began to explain as he grabbed both of the outfits and showed them off, “But then I decided to ask Lion to decide for me and—guess which one he picked.”
Spinel thought for a second before pointing at the costume at the right.
“Yes! Who would’ve guessed he could be like that, huh? That’s Lion for you.”
The costume was literally a lion costume that Steven had painted pink to make it look exactly like Lion. The other costume...well, she wasn’t exactly sure what it was.
“What about the other one?” She asked.
“That one’s a Cookie Cat costume!”
“Oh...uhm what’s a cookie cat?”
“Oh, Cookie Cat’s an alien cat that left both his family and home behind when he came down here to Earth to escape an interstellar war. He was the mascot of these delicious ice cream sandwiches by the same name. Unfortunately they stopped selling two years ago probably because of competition. Curse you Lion Lickers. I would’ve definitely have bought you some if they still sold them. I’m pretty sure you would’ve liked them.”
Spinel looked at the costume he still held in his hand. Her eyes were focused on Cookie Cat’s two different colored eyes. One white and one pink.
“Yeah, I would have,” She said and then reached out for the costume, taking it out of his hand, “Hey, Steven. C-Can I ask ya somethin’?”
“Hm? Yeah sure.”
“Y-Ya wouldn’t—I-I mean you guys wouldn’t mind if I joined ya for this, would you? I-I think I like the idea of this whole ‘treat-or-trick’ thing.”
Steven smiled at her. It was another one of those types of smiles, so filled with warmth and love, which left Spinel feeling kinda weak every time it happened (and let me tell ya, it was happening quite a lot recently as she came to notice). It took so much of her power to prevent herself from falling victim to her buckling knees or to let her heart-shaped gem fly out of its place in a ‘bumpidity-bump!’ mess.
“I wouldn’t mind and I’m pretty sure the others won't either. I was actually about to ask you if you wanted to,” he said and then he walked over to his clothes cabinet, where he began to look through all his garments, “I have a ton of costumes here. Which one would you like? I have this sneople costume and oh—I still have this Pink Diamond outfit from two years ago…”
“Actually,” Spinel began, holding out the Cookie Cat costume in front of her, “I’d like to wear this.”
He smiled again. “Sure! Go ahead.”
She wasted no time in pulling the costume over her and in such a cartoonish manner that Steven had only blinked once when she already had the full costume on.
“How do I look?”
“Great! It’s a perfect fit!” Steven complimented. Just after he said that, the sound of rock music entered through the open window of his room. “Ah, Dad’s here! You can go down with the others. Tell them I’m getting ready.”
“Sure thing!” She said and watched as he quickly walked to the bathroom. Once the door close behind him, she walked down the stairs.
“Spooky scary skeletons,” she sang to herself, happily imagining the fun night that awaited them, “Send shivers down your spine…”

Road Trip to Confession City
I wrote something, wow. Its just a classic meteorstuck davekat fic. Anyway I’m not fantastic at writing so feedback is appreciated.(Alt title: Dave Stole Fizzy Lifting Drinks)
The air on the meteor is calm, sedated almost. You and Karkat are just kind of chilling in Can Town, sitting just a little closer than would be considered normal back on Earth, you notice. You tell yourself not to worry about it, Earth's dead, and so are all the bullshit social rules that came with it. So who cares about what would have been okay on Earth, right? But, it doesn't stop the dusting of pink that creeps up your neck and onto your ears from just the thought of being so close.
Shit, come to think of it your hands are almost touching. So close that you could just reach over a little and close the space between you. You don't though. It would be too weird.
Karkat's occupied, scribbling doors and windows onto some cans to make buildings, and rambling about some movie the two of you watched a few nights ago. You're responding, but you have no idea what's coming out of your mouth. You must have said something funny though, because Karkat turns to you and laughs in a way that when you had gotten to the meteor you didn't think he was capable of. It's just so... soft and real.
It slowly dawns on you that you have to do something. Anything, just to get something out to tell him. You don't know if you're ready for this. Or if he is either. Or what you're going to even do. But before you can second guess yourself more, you sit up suddenly. It gets you a questioning look from Karkat. The kind where his thick brows are furrowed together, but one of them is peaked up a bit. Confused, sarcastic, and sort of endearing. Jesus Christ you need to get your shit together.
You lean back on your arm a bit, desperately trying to seem casual, "So uh... you wanna like, go somewhere?"
Fantastic. So well executed. The kind of intelligence and way with words that will get you three straight As on your next English papers. Aren't you just the pinnacle of speech.
Karkat's brows crease further. "Go where? And why, what's wrong with Can Town?"
"I... I'll explain when we get there ok?"
"that sounds extremely suspicious but ok, I guess out of everyone on the meteor you’re the least likely to be the one that does me in for good."
Karkat starts to stand up, raising an eyebrow in your direction. You walk towards the exit and wait as he catches up to you.
You walk in silence for a solid three minutes before either of you says anything. You start to wonder whether this was a good idea. Your stupid god tier pajamas don't have any pockets, so you resort to playing with the edge of your cape. You sneak a look over at Karkat from behind your shades and oh god he's looking at you. It's that look with just the slightest bit of confusion and concern. It makes your hands start to shake. Shit, you're staring now. You snap your gaze forward, hoping he couldn't see your eyes from behind your glasses.
He's still looking at you as he asks, "Hey, um, are you like good? You haven’t said anything for the past three minutes and while I’m usually all for you finally shutting the fuck up I still have no clue where you’re taking me and you’re being really goddamn weird about it."
You shrug and try to laugh it off, "nah dude everything is all good, 100%, The goodest it’s ever been and get this it’s about to be even better because would you look at that we’re here."
You panic a bit as you trail off and end up pulling Karkat into the nearest empty room with you.
Shit.
This was a really bad idea.
The room you’re standing in is almost identical to every other room on the meteor. Same grey walls, tiled floor, and fluorescent lights that strain your eyes even with your shades on. You better be able to bs your way out of this one fast.
You flex your fingers, letting go of the cape you forgot you practically had a death grip on. You get another look at Karkat. Oh no. He’s got that look on his face. The one that’s pretty much his standard brand of mildly-and-constantly angry, but with the slightest bit of anticipation in his eyes. The kind of look you’re only able to recognize because you spend so much time with him. On anyone else it’s a look that’s off putting, but with him it’s vaguely pleasant. It’s in the way he looks just slightly up at you, waiting for you to speak, and inevitably ramble your way into oblivion. Speaking of which, you’re doing it again, staring, that is.
You figure at this point Karkat has had enough of standing in silence having you stare him down, because he folds his arms across his chest, sighs, and says, “Alright, so now I KNOW something is up, you dragged me all the way out here, said next to nothing the entire time we were walking, and now we’re in a room that’s completely indistinguishable from any other room on this god forsaken rock and not to mention completely fucking empty. You still haven’t exactly explained what the hell were doing here, so tell me Strider, What. Is. The Deal?”
You let out a long breath, “Yeah ok I guess keeping you in the dark this whole time may have been a bad idea,”
He snorts and rolls his eyes. You probably deserve that.
“But just hear me out okay?”
“Alright Strider, I’m listening. What could be so incredibly important that you had to drag me out into middle-of-nowhere, Meteor City? Am I about to be graced with the most beautiful and moving rap about puppet ass and this room had the best acoustics? Is that it Dave?”
He’s leaning towards you as he says that. He’s close enough that you can see the way his black mess of hair curls around from behind his ears. You know he was just doing it to be sarcastic and condescending but shit if it doesn’t make your heart rate spike just a little. Nothing life threatening, no heart attacks today, but woah.
You laugh and it comes out a little shaky.
“Okay, okay uh, so this is probably gonna sound really weird but just don’t worry about it. I’m gonna say something that I didn’t want to say while we were in Can Town because there’s so many good memories and shit and us being really good friends-like super fucking good friends-and like hell I want to ruin that for myself, shit Can Town is like the one place I can stand to be for more than like two hours, and I also feel like I’d be kinda ruining the sanctity of it or some shit I don’t know -“
“What the actual fuck are you talking about?”
You sigh, God why is this so difficult? It’s not that hard Strider, just get those words out of your dumb shit mouth and hop on the feelings train to confession town. Easy peasy lemon squeezy and all that shit.
“Spit it out Dave.”
Of course this would be the one time you find it hard to speak, of course.
“Alright... alright I-I just, I like you ok, like... a lot. And it took me a while to actually realize it because I was just pulling layer and layer of repression over it and I didn’t want to let Rose know about it because I just know she’d go total therapist mode on my sorry ass so I was just kinda silently freaking out for a while and just kept pushing the thought further and further back in my head. As if I just ignored it long enough it’d go away completely. But then you’d do something that’s just completely fucking mundane and stupid and for some bullshit reason it’d like set something off in my head and I wouldn’t be able to stop thinking about it for literal days on end. And it’s been going on long enough where I kind of had to come to terms with it but as it fucking turns out that doesn’t help! It does exactly jack shit as a matter of fact! It just keeps piling up and the littlest things make my heart speed up and I know I’m kind of throwing a load of shit at you all at once and I basically already know you’re going reject me so hard I’m thrown from this plane of existence but if there’s any chance just... just please tell me you feel the same.”
Oh boy. You realize that that was maybe a lot at once. You cringe inwardly on yourself as you dare another look at Karkat.
He’s… stunned? You assume that would be an appropriate reaction. You have no idea wether it’s good or bad though and it’s eating at you. He looks at his hands, which are halfway inside his sweater sleeves, and back up at you again. There’s something in his eyes that makes you want to cry and scream out of impatience and the smallest, most microscopic bit of hope. You silently will him to say something. Anything really.
He meets your gaze even with your shades on. It’s terrifying, but it’s sincere and filled with earnest. You can see the small patches of red creeping across his face and the hint of a smile on his lips.
“I- oh... oh my god I- holy shit I woah I thought for sure that there was absolutely no way and that came so far out of left field i just woah”
The smile on his face widens, far enough for you to see his sharp teeth. It’s weirdly adorable.
He shakes his head, making his curls bounce out of his face, “I mean Jesus... yeah ok I mean I guess I’ll just cut to the fucking chase here, I like you too, like a whole lot.”
You could swear your feet have lifted off the ground at this point. You can feel how hot your face is and you’re sure you’ve flushed all the way up to your eyebrows. Your heart is moving at a pace you didn’t think was humanly possible. Is this really happening?
“Wait-you’re serious? Like 100% all jokes aside no funny business serious?”
Karkat’s grin threatens to split his face in half.
“yeah... I uh I’m serious.”
“You really like me, you’re sure?”
“yeah, yeah I really really do.”
Holy shit. This is happening. You’re at least an inch off the ground now, you’re sure of it.
Karkat’s fidgeting with his sleeves. You can see his hands shake a little. He looks up at you suddenly, practically bright red (but it’s not like you look much better).
“I- uh can… Can I yknow? Can I kiss you?”
You’re lifted another inch.
“Oh! Shit! I mean yes! Of course, fuck yes you can! God… fuck!”
He takes the two steps towards you that close the space. He hesitates for a second, but puts his hands up and grabs onto the hood of your cape. Oh shit you’re still floating. Embarrassed, you slowly lower your feet back onto the ground. Karkat laughs and, oh god, he leans in so that your foreheads are touching.
“You’re an idiot.”
What remained of the space between you is now gone. His lips are on yours and it’s so… soft. Not like you would expect from the guy that screamed at you for so long he could barely breathe once, but it’s perfect. It’s long and slow and everything you didn’t even know you wanted out of a first kiss. Before you realize what you’re doing you’re pushing your hands up through his hair. It curls around your fingers as you notice that Karkat has pulled you even closer, his arms around your neck.
You break for a second, less than inches away from each other.
“Sorry,” you breathe.
He smiles, “ For what?”
“For taking so long.”
And then you kiss him again.

Medic
Pairings: ReaderxSweetPea
Warnings: Hinted at violence, mentions of blood, fluff, angst.
A/N: Hope you enjoy this lil not so lil fic, American Beauty//American Psycho will go up during the week. Let me know what you think my loves!
----------------------------------
“Woah what happened you?”
“Fucking Ghoulie” Sweet Pea stomped inside your trailer and threw himself down on the couch. Eye bruising, head cut and lip swelling slightly. He was a sight to behold.
“Aww poor baby” you teased and he glared.
“Just fix it, that's your job isn't it?”
“I'm the gang medic not the gang slave” you shot back.
You kneeled on the couch in order to look properly at the cut on his head starting in his jet black hair.
“Wow Ynn on your knees for me? You tease”
“Careful Sweet Pea or your eyes will be a matching set” you played back. Always the same flirtatious exchanges that never mounted to anything.
Still on your knees you leaned further in, tilting his head down to reach the very start of the cut before starting to clean it out.
“You know you're basically forcing my head into your chest right now yeah?”
“Are we complaining?” you dabbed an especially large amount of antiseptic on his head and he let out a hiss.
“Nope, never” he gripped your hips harshly and seemed to channel his pain into them, you didn't really feel it at all.
“You're crossing the line of doctor patient relationship SP” you put the steristrips on the cut and covered most of them with his hair to hide them before moving into the eye.
“Shame” he smirked. You sat back so you were cross-legged, pulling Sweet Pea closer to inspect his eye.
“This was just an excuse so you could spend the night looking deep in my eyes wasn't it” he grins at you and you flash a small beaming bright light into his eyes.
“Argh!”
“Yup your pupils dilated fine there” you laughing as he shoves you backwards before hovering over the length of your body. He shifts to prop himself up, still holding himself over you.
“No need to patch up the black eye now that I'm blind”
“You're right, we should fix your lip though” you half catch him by the chin and drag him down closely, him willingly going. Your faces were mere millimeters away. He slowly closed his eyes but quickly you grab a cotton pad soaked in antiseptic and press it to his lip as he half howls in the pain of the burn and the surprise.
“You bitch!” He shoots up kneeling, leg either side of you as he pats dry his lip.
“That's an odd way to say thank you” you smirk and he begins tickling you mercilessly as you were caught halfway between screaming and laughing.
“Okay truce truce truce!” He finally stopped as you began to turn slightly purple. You were regaining your strength as you both stared at each other sweetly, him still kneeling above you. His phone buzzing to life broke you both from your trance.
“Hello-Yeah-Yeah-Really?-FPs son?-yeah-Emm not I'm really busy-” he glanced at you apologetically and you bit your lip, averting your gaze “-okay-okay-Ill be right there-yeah-talk to you later”
“Business?”
“Yeah?”
“Will I have a bunch of you to stitch up later orrrr”
“No-” he laughed again “FP was busted for that murder thing on the Northside, typical that we get the blame. But anyway he didn't name names with the drug's side of it so it's time to follow the rules and start looking after FP jr, going over there now with the gang to let him know” he reluctantly got off the couch and fixed his jacket and collar in the mirror. Sweet Pea was fiercely loyal, especially to the Serpents. They had given him everything when his world was taken from him a few years ago. No one knew what that meant to him like you did. You were best friends ever since. You stood and behind him, helping to fix his collar.
“FP jr...oh waits he's kinda hot, I wonder if he's single?” you half whispered behind him, knowing it was driving him mental.
Suddenly Sweet Pea turned, grabbed onto you before turning again, half slamming you into the wall on which the mirror hung. You let out a slight sexually charged whimper at the sudden control he was taking and he smirked. Damn it you thought. He was inches from your face once again.
“Yeah, I thought so” he winked before releasing you, reveling in the little victory you just granted him while you cursed yourself.
“Maybe I should give him a phone call” you called after Sweet Pea as he went for the door.
“It'll be the last phone call he ever gets” Sweet Pea half slammed the trailer door. He won the battle but you won that war.
~
Over the next few weeks you were introduced to Jughead and his subsequent Northside world. You found yourself falling slowly for the idea of the Northside, a place free from direct negative association. With the more time you spent in the north, the less you spent in the South and with Toni and Sweet Pea. It had not gone unnoticed, especially by Sweet Pea. He had wanted to like Jughead but your intense interest in him and his world had completely put him off, along with Jugheads initial reluctance to embrace all things Southside.
The rain hit off your tin roof viciously, it was nights like these you spent curled in your trailer often before chaos of a fight would ensue and your trailer would be full of casualties for you to repair. Tonight was no different.
“I mean god forbid you fight when it's dry and sunny and Toy Story isn't on the TV for fuck sake” you finished bonding together Fangs Fogarty’ check gnash with the medical glue, the enduring your rambles. You moved your way along the string of Serpents, repairing each as they told of their fight with the Northsiders before being interrupted by a “psycho girl with a gun”.
“Wait...where's Sweet Pea?!” You searched around the room when you got to the end of the line and they began filtering out.
“He's still with the police, he's been in and out with them for for past month more than any of us so they kept him in longer” Fangs replied as the gang began to move on and out
“wait why so much?”
“All petty crimes, don't worry, it's only your fault” Rocky jeered before exiting.
“Wait what” you caught Fangs shoulder before he could slip out too.
“Well I mean you're not around to rein him in lately so he's bound to go off to his own devices to distract him”
“What do you mean I'm not around?!”
“Gotta ask yourself that question Northsider” Johnny scoffed before you pinned him to the door frame of the trailer with your forearm.
“What was that Johnny?” You bit.
“Noth-nothing yn sorry...thanks for realigning my wrist…”
“That's what I thought” you jostled him back and he half fell out the door down the steps, Fangs laughing at him before he met your glare and stopped.
You began cleaning up the trailer and changing into your PJs before sitting and waiting for Sweet Pea to come with his own injuries. He didn't. You spent the whole night sitting, looking at the door and waiting for your jet black haired friend to come in giving out about something or other. He didn't. You eventually drifted off into a nightmare fueled sleep.
You woke in a cold sweat thinking of all the things that could have happened to him during the fight, during being in the holding in the prison, on the walk home, in his own trailer. The thoughts were eating you alive. 5.30am gleamed on the clock, he had to be home by now.
Dressed in your pj top, shorts and slippers you grabbed a dressing gown and threw it on before dashing across the trailer park to where Sweet Pea lived alone. You banged harshly on the door, fear and cold getting to you.
“Jesus Christ what?!?! Are you trying to wake the whole park?!?!” He half shouted, squinting and groggy. You just dove at him, arms wrapping tightly around his tall build.
“Woah what who died?” You didn't answer and just held him slightly tighter.
“Okay seriously ynn who is dead?! Is it Hot Dog?! Oh please don't say it's Hot Dog!! Say it's Fogarty before saying it's Hot Dog! ” He pulled you inside his disgruntled trailer.
“I thought you died you big jerk! Why didn't you let me know you were okay!?” You went from hugging his chest to hitting his chest.
“Thought you'd be busy checking if your new Northsider boyfriend was okay, didn't want to bother you with my Southside problems” you broke from him and looked extremely confused.
“Don't give me that ynn, we all know it's what you want. A nice, happy, safe home, away from all this Serpent crap, it's why you're the medic now and stopped working jobs with me, don't lie to me”
“Firstly I HAD to stop working jobs, I was the only one my mom had trained in her trade before she died so I didn't have a choice there, secondly I wouldn't dream of leaving my Serpent family, there crap is my crap and thirdly I can have a nice, happy, mostly safe home in the Serpent's, it's what I have!”
“IT'S NOT THE SAME! YOU WANT TO LEAVE! I KNOW YOU DO! YOU SHOULD JUST LEAVE ALREADY AND STOP PROLONGING THE INEVITABLE AND JUST LEAVE! YOU DESERVE BETTER THAN THE SERPENTS! You deserve better than me” his true feelings came to light once more, the eternal and never ending fear of being abandoned again. Your anger drained from you then.
“Sweet Pea I could never ever leave you, I could never ever leave the Serpents. You're more deserving of love then you realise and Sweet Pea-” you took his face in your hands to force him to look down into your eyes. He placed his own hands over yours to hold them there.
“-I love you” your hands on his cheeks went around his neck and you pulled him down to meet your lips. His hands went to your sides. You broke apart and just held each other for a moment, your head buried in his chest and his resting on the top of your head.
“I lo-" it was like his tongue was completely tied in itself and you could see him curse himself. He wasn't used to hearing it, wasn't used to saying it and wasn't use to feeling it.
"its okay" you said into his chest.
"i love you too” he whispered against your hair.
“I'll make sure you have a nice, happy, always safe home ynn, I won't let anyone hurt you”
“You'll never be alone as long as I'm around Sweet Pea, I'll keep you safe from your own thoughts” you kissed again.
“I love you, you giant goof but if you ever scare me like that again, you're going to need to go to a regional hospital” you winked.
“Ive got all I need in the medic that you are” he kissed you sweetly then again

Much love Xx
