I love that feeling when you’re writing and everything clicks together and you’re like “I’m a genius. I have been this whole time”
#first i realised august being a centuries old vampire doesn’t have to be out of character if i don’t want it to be. i am the god#of this world. he can still be a sad wet cat of a man. that isn’t necessarily mutually exclusive with vampirism#he’s just getting the meow meow treatment. that’s all#then i found out my backstory for the big creepy haunted house is historically accurate. and i was like ‘okay phew’#THEN i realised.. hey i’ve got a good setting here. why waste it? and i converted the all boy’s school i was going to write about#but abandoned; and changed it into halls of residence for university students#it still was canonically an all boy’s school but it went out of business in the 70s. so that means i can still use it but in a period piece#which is fine#the only thing this means is that i can keep using this specific town i made up over and over and i don’t actually have to change the layout#i just have to be like ‘okay if it’s 2023 then these grounds are owned by the university of [redacted]. before 1970 though#there are posh boys living here unfortunately’#in between… who knows. flats? probably.#might change it to the 90s actually. it wouldn’t really change much#i don’t know if i’ll actually write interconnected novels.. like if i do write something involving the boarding school idk if there’ll be#a vampire in it#but i like that i’ve given myself the option#personal
