friends to lovers w/ msby | headcanons

m.list
sakusa kiyoomi
- only became friends with you cause you were neighbors - he helped move your couch up to your apartment - you offered to buy him dinner in exchange for more help - after that you would just find each other everywhere - sakusa’s on the elevator when you are - he’s at the same coffee shop - even getting his groceries at the same time - so you start hanging out more - you’ll go watch his games - he’ll beta read your food-based articles - even joining you to try a new restaurant for your blog - the change happened for him first - when you spilled wine on his couch - you were so apologetic, doing anything you could to clean it - fell for you first AND harder - he kept it a secret for awhile - not even telling the rest of the team - (although atsumu found out pretty early on) - only told you when you confessed to him - ‘i like you.. and i appreciate your friendship, i just can’t continue like this’ [you] - ‘i like you too, and i have for a while’ [sakusa]
atsumu miya
- met you at a volleyball game - thought you to be one his many fans - 'you want my signature or a photo? or both?' [atsumu] - 'i'm sorry who are you?' [you] - humbled him immediately - you were there investigating one of the teams for fraud and its connection with a coach - he wanted in on it as soon as he heard - wanting to tell others that he was part of a 'serious investigation' - when really you were just writing for the city's news station - however, you do come to find out that he's pretty good at it - he'd get you interviews you couldn't get before - even chatting to the coach to get him to lie through his teeth - 'pretty good investigator, aren't i?' [atsumu] - 'depends on what you define as good...' [you] - you have a very playful relationship together - meeting up at small coffee shops to discuss it - him getting a shout out at the bottom of your article - you quickly realize your own feelings a few weeks later - he’s laughing about something hinata said and the first person he looked to was you - and there’s a light in his eyes that you realize has been there every time he’s looked into your’s
hinata shoyo
- you met him on a layover out of brazil - you were in another part of the country when your layout took you to rio de janeiro - hinata bumped into you when walking to your gate - ‘i’m so sorry, i should’ve looked-’ [you] - ‘it’s okay! i should’ve been paying more attention too’ [hinata] - as an apology he walked you to your gate - only realizing when you got there that it was his gate too - you talk the enter time you’re waiting to board - he ends up in front of you on the airplane - the two of you chat as everyone gets situated on the plane - just as you’re getting off, hinata hands you a piece of paper with his phone number - ‘maybe we can meet up later’ [hinata] - ‘i’d love to!’ [you] - as you make your way down the aisle, the paper falls from your hand - it disappears beneath a few rows - so you spend the next year wondering what would’ve happened - magically, you run into him again at a coffee shop - ‘hinata?’ [you] - he was ecstatic to see you again - offering to buy your coffee and chat - knowing you had just gotten out of an almost year long relationship, you tell him it can only be platonic - he accepts profusely - as you chat, you start wondering if anything could be there - and you spend a couple months strictly as friends - only breaking that rule when you invite him out to dinner
bokuto kotaro
- prefers being friends before dating - so when he meets you at his favorite coffee shop, he's inclined to learn about you slowly - you just started as a barista and you happily welcome his morning routine - he'll always come in with the intent to try something new - however, he always convinces himself to buy the same thing - 'well we have a new seasonal flavor-' [you] - 'no, no, i think the usual will work today' [bokuto] - until one day when he asked for a baked good and wanted to know if you could hang out during your break - and it slowly became routine for the two of you - you’d talk about everything under the sun - about your schooling, his volleyball, your personal lives - eventually he brings his friends to the shop to meet you - and what cements his budding crush on you is just how well you get along with them all - akaashi to atsumu, you’re able to communicate so well with them - watching you be so kind to them just got his heart beating - and he’s vocal about a lot but he was too nervous to say anything - especially when he didn’t want to lose your friendship - so he only said something when akaashi told him to - telling him that he could ‘totally see’ the crush you have on him

KARMA IS MY BOYFRIEND
cw: jealous reader, flirty atsumu, karma is my boyfriend!!!!!!! karma is the guy on the screen... coming straight home to me!!!!!! ;p karma is atsumu
Tumblr media
The public restroom of today’s arena is surprisingly clean.
As MSBY tackles another opponent, you manage to excuse yourself for a moment amid the chaos. Atsumu is still shining on the court, but with his focus on the game and your stealthy escape skills, you know he doesn't notice—let alone mind—your brief absence.
In the tiny confines of the bathroom stall, you can’t help yourself from listening in to the intriguing conversation going on outside.
At first, it’s harmless. If anything, it reminds you of yourself a few years ago. Two girls (you imagine) giggling in front of the bathroom mirror, fixing their hair and retouching their makeup. They have a childlike excitement, one that overflows with the innocence of a fleeting crush. It’s comforting, listening to them blush and swoon over whoever has caught their eye.
“The things I’d do to that man,” one voice dreamily sighs.
Another is quick to chime in, “The things I wish he’d do to me.”
It’s refreshing in a way, listening to them yearn and sigh with one another’s encouragement. It reminds you of your own early stages with Atsumu—the ranting to your friends, the not knowing, the butterflies eating you alive from the inside out. You were once those girls, you get it.
You just can’t help but wonder which player has caught their eye. Bokuto seems to be a fan favorite these days—his contagious energy overflowing throughout every stadium. Sakusa’s decently popular with the ladies too, despite his brooding facade. And Hinata oozes with charisma every time he’s on the screen, so—
“Did you see his last serve? I could think of a few other things he could do with his hands,” the second voice perks up again with a sultry tone.
Your eyebrows furrow at the mention of the recent play and your suspicions are deemed correct when you bring yourself to exit the stall.
You see them—two younger girls, decked out head to toe in MSBY merch and proudly sporting none other than your boyfriend's number on their backs.
They pay no attention to you as you join them by the sink, not knowing who you are, let alone the relationship you hold with the man of their dreams.
“I swear he looked at me the last set,” one of them fans herself in dramatics.
“You think we can meet him if we linger around the stadium for a bit after his match?”
The latter nods, taking one last once over of her appearance before the two of them make their way back through the door and out to the stands.
“Tabloids say he’s a huge flirt, so I’m sure he’ll be looking for something—or someone—to do later.”
The door swings shut and while you’re now alone in the squeaky clean bathroom, you can’t help the dirty jealousy that wrings your aching core. It’s silly. You know it’s silly to be feeling this way, this insecure over something as foolish as locker room talk from someone who doesn't even know Atsumu.
But that insecurity eats you alive, it festers inside of you like an invasive species. Growing as it feasts on your lingering anxiety—it’s easy to work yourself up over such a nonsensical conversation.
Washing your hands and returning to the court, you can only try so hard to swallow back that ugly feeling and put on your bravest face.
When you return, the next set is just coming to an end. You watch Atsumu converse with his teammates, nodding in approval before directing his attention to the sidelines.
He immediately smirks when he catches your eye. Trotting over to the bench, he grabs his water bottle to take a few hefty swigs. With a mouth full of water, he eagerly makes his way over to you.
“Hey, baby,” he coos, still slightly out of breath, “where’d you run off to?”
You can’t help but smile at the question before responding, “Bathroom.”
Atsumu nods as he cautiously takes in your expression. “Havin’ fun so far?” he beams.
Your cheeks flush a bit at his charm, but you bite your tongue in fear of egging on his already giant ego. You soak in his genuine curiosity before muttering a tiny praise of “You’re killing it out there.”
His tongue skims the point of his canine when he laughs smugly at the compliment.
“Keep being nice t’me and m’gonna start thinking you have a crush on me.”
Your boyfriend’s tease has your kissing your teeth. “Never,” you sarcastically scoff.
He uses his jersey to wipe the small beads of sweat forming above his lip, exposing the toned muscles of his abdomen and the way it flexes at the simple action. And you swear it’s not your imagination when you hear two surprised gasps echo from behind you. It burns your chests like a lit match.
On the other hand, Atsumu couldn't care less, eyes never leaving yours as he still catches his breath.
He takes another swig from his water bottle, “What’re we havin’ for dinner tonight?”
Though it’s silly, you’re grateful for his random question. It's genuine, it carries a kind of raw domesticity that those women in the bathroom could never take away from you.
You roll your eyes at the question, before nodding to the court.
“Focus on the game, and then we’ll talk,” you hum in amusement.
Your hand rises to fix the stray hairs damp with sweat spread on his forehead. Atsumu’s eyes flicker closed at your soft touch, one that’s gone far sooner than he’d like, before you're pulling your hand back to your side.
But he catches your wrist before you can fully retreat. Maintaining eye contact, Atsumu places a gentle kiss to your wrist before mumbling against the skin.
“Doesn’t matter,” he assures, sucking a bit on where his lips dance along the bone, “I’m only concerned about what’s for dessert, anyways.”
With a swatting hand and blushing cheeks, you fluster as Atsumu returns to the court with a proud smirk and a special glimmer in his eye.
And it’s in this moment that you realize—people can say whatever they want, because, at the end of the day, Atsumu is always going home with you.

They had started their 'situation' Sakusa's final year off college after Atsumu decided to visit him. Atsumu hadn't expected, though he should have, Sakusa to have grown into himself so much. The confidence Sakusa had alone made Atsumu fall
Onto his knees for him. It continued into Sakusa joining MSBY. It was beneficial, they could relieve stress and they wouldn't have to worry about the other not being tested since the team did that regularly. They had rules, obviously. If they slept with other people the person
Had to be tested beforehand. No one on the team could know. Actually No one could know. News spread like wildfire in the v-league. And finally, most importantly, it could never come in between their teamwork. Whatever problems arose, they had to deal with it before or after work
It became a smooth system, a few bumps arose in the beginning but were dealt with. Four years later and feelings had grown, unknowingly on both sides. Neither of them had slept with another person in almost 6 months but it was never brought up. They knew each others wet dreams, had even made some of them become reality. For Atsumu, it was fucking in public. How Sakusa managed to keep Atsumu quiet in the locker room showers while the team was only a few feet away is still a mystery to them both. For Sakusa, it was total control. Sensory deprivation of his partner, temperature play had been thrown in for fun. Atsumu hadn't been able to walk the next day and they stayed inside watching movies. There was one that they both wanted to do, yet the opportunity had yet to arise
Something about waking up to someone fucking into you. To waking someone where the first thing out of their mouth is a moan. They had talked about it extensively, making sure that they were both okay with it should the occasion every arise. And they always had the light system
But knowing Atsumu, he had a long list of things he wanted to try and Sakusa was more than happy to check off each one. It all came to a head at a team dinner. They were celebrating a win against EJP, something that made Atsumu doubly smug since it was his twins boyfriends team. They were playing truth or dare since they got a private room. Bokuto was wearing his boxers on his head, courtesy of Hinata, who in turn had to booty call a certain Adlers Setter for later that night. It was Meians turn to ask Sakusa. "Truth or Dare?" Sakusa swirled his whiskey in his glass before looking up at him. "Truth" Boos were promptly heard but Meian just nodded with a smirk. "Okay, is it true you have a special someone in your life right now?" Atsumus head perked up at the question. "Mmmm...yeah I do have a special someone. Been seeing them for awhile now" Atsumu felt his heart drop and shatter on the floor and he looked down at his glass, missing the look Sakusa had sent him. He was quiet for the next thirty minutes, having sent Osamu their SOS signal
His phone started ringing and he pushed away from the table. "Sorry guys, I gotta take this." As soon as he stepped outside, he took a deep breath and answered the phone. "Hey Samu...thanks for calling I needed ta get out of there." "What's up? What happened?"
"He has...he has someone." He didn't need to say who "he" was. Osamu knew about his crush. He didn't know about their situation, but he knew his brother was in love. "Ah shit Tsumu...how did ya find out- did tha bastard bring them?" "No- no he didn't do that. He just told us."
"Oh..well use me as an excuse ta get outta there. I'll even give ya permission ta drink that bottle I left at yer place." Atsumu laughed despite himself, thanking his twin and he hung up before going back inside. "Sorry guys I gotta go. Samu locked himself outta his place and Suna didn't bring his key. Big bro to the rescue." The team was disappointed but let him go and Atsumu left cash on the table for his part. "Make sure to take a cab, Tsumu!" Bokuto yelled as he walked out, waving. He went back to his apartment, opening the bottle of whiskey that Samu had mentioned and he sat on his balcony sipping from the bottle directly. Half an hour later there was a knock at his door and he got up, expecting it to be the pizza that he ordered. "Yer early, how much do I owe ya-" The person at the door was not a pizza delivery man. Instead there stood a 6 foot 3 man with curly black hair and two moles on his forehead. "Tha fuck are you- no. Not tonight. Not anymore. I'm done-"
He tried to shut the door but Sakusa stuck his foot in the doorway stopping him. "We need to talk. You're drunk- how much did you drink." Atsumu wasnt able to push him out so instead he retreated into his living room and Sakusa followed, pulling off his jacket and hanging it up
"Yer not- yer not wanted here. Just leave." Atsumu picked up the whiskey bottle from the coffee table and was about to take a drink when it was pulled from him and set on the kitchen counter. "We need to talk, and for that i need you sober. Water, drink it."
A water bottle was thrust into his hand instead and he looked stunned for a few seconds before he threw it on his couch. "Yer not the boss of me! Leave! Go to your 'special person' and leave me tha hell alone!" Sakusa ignored him and thrust another into his hand. It joined the other on the couch and this time Sakusa stepped forward and grabbed his hand. "Atsumu. Just drink the water and let me speak. Then, afterwards, if you want me gone I will leave and we can go back to just being teammates."
Atsumu reluctantly took the water bottle from Sakusa when it was handed to him again from the couch. He opened it and started drinking, letting Sakusa guide him onto the couch to sit. He refused to look at him, refused to acknowledge his presence aside from the water. It took awhile for him to start sobering up. While he sat on the couch, Sakusa cleaned up his apartment and paid for the pizza, something that Atsumu had tried to do but was just given another water bottle. Atsumu wasn't even sure where they were coming from but he drank them
And he ate the pizza. When Sakusa had deemed him sober enough, he rejoined him on the couch and reach for Atsumus hand who pulled it away and moved away. He saw the flash of hurt on Sakusas face but said nothing despite the ache in his heart at Sakusa being hurt. "I don't have a partner." "But ya said at din-" "Let me finish, please. I don't have a partner. I have a specia someone, but they don't know it. I've been sleeping with them since college. And exclusively them for six months. And this person doesn't even know that I love them."
Atsumu gasped and moved his head too quickly, the room spinning a little but he focused on Sakusa in front of him. "What did ya say?" "I'm trying...I'm trying to tell you that I love you. I have for awhile now. And I was stupid tonight. I thought you'd catch my look but when I
Looked over at you, you looked so...so broken. And I realized my mistake. But you wouldn't look at me the rest of the night and then you left. I couldn't chase after you because the team was watching. I was talking about you Atsumu. You're my special person"
Atsumus heart was pounding in his ears and he really couldn't believe what he was hearing. "Yer- yer talkin about me? I'm yer special person?" Sakusa nodded at him, a soft smile on his lips and he leaned forward, kissing Atsumus forehead. "If you'll have me."
Atsumu hiccupped, an action that Sakusa thought was quite adorable, and he nodded. "Yeah, yes Omi. I want- I wanna be yer special person. Yer my special person too. So- so I'd really like ta be yer boyfriend" The smile that appeared on Sakusas face was the most beautiful one
Atsumu had ever had the privilege of seeing. Sakusa leaned forward and kissed him, it was a soft sweet kiss despite Atsumu trying to deepen it, to which Sakuse chuckled a bit. "Bed for you, I have a surprise for you in the morning, if you'll allow me to spend the night"
"Yer my boyfriend, course you can spend the night. I always wanna sleep with you. In both meanings" Sakusa chuckled again and kissed Atsumus forehead. "I'll meet you in your room, I'll clean up out here. You should take a shower to sober the rest of you up."
Atsumu couldn't argue that, so he did. And by the time he was out, Sakusa was laying in his bed, his reading glasses on and was reading the book he had left the last time he spent the night. Atsumu wanted this image to forever be in his memory. He crawled into bed, moving under the blanket to Sakusas side and curled against him, his head on his chest and Sakusa started reading his book aloud, and soon Atsumu fell asleep listening to the cadence of his /boyfriends/ voice. (NSFW warning ahead!)
Atsumu felt a tight grip on his hips as he laid there, a warmth pressing against his back and air tickling the back of his neck. It was the most vivid dream he'd ever had. "Atsu" Omi's voice was rough in his ear, just as rough as the thrusts inside of him
Atsumu never wanted to wake up. He felt kisses being pressed to his shoulder before the rough voice was in his ear again. "So fucking good for me. So tight and so inviting even in your sleep." He felt Omi hit his prostate and a moan ripped out of Atsumus lips, his eyes opening
His head was pressed into a pillow but he could see the sunrising outside his window, his eyes still bleary from sleep Another thrust against his prostate had him crying out Omis name, his hand moving up to grip the sheets "M-more Omi- want more"
Omis hips faltered for a moment when he realized Atsumu was finally awake but his pace quickly returned and he kissed the shell of Atsumus ear. "Good morning baby. You're being so good for already today" "Wanna- wanna be good fer ya Omi- sir"
Atsumus voice was still sleepy but the whine in it was evident and made Sakusa smirk. He loved how needy his lover was for him and him alone. "You're taking me so well. Being so good. Such a good boy" The praise made Atsumu moan, he was close already. His fist gripped the sheets harder and he closed his eyes, moans getting louder. He knew Omi loved how vocal he was when they had sex. Omi loved even more the sound of Atsumu screaming his name. "Omi please- please I'm so" "So what, Atsu? Use your words. Tell me what you want"
"Close! I'm close. Wanna- wanna cum, please- fer ya" Omi nipped at his shoulder, hitting his prostate again and again as he spoke. "Do it, Atsu. Will you let me cum inside you? Fill you up like you love?"
Atsumu's orgasm hit him the moment permission left Omis lips and the promise of being filled had him letting out a loud whiney 'please'.. It didn't take long for Omi to cum after him, Atsumu gasped and cried at the sensitivity of Omis release inside of him. "So good for me baby, so good. Go back to sleep now" Despite having just woken up, a wave of tiredness hit him and Atsumu turned his head to try and look at Omi, his eyes fighting to stay open. "Stay, stay in me...wanna wake up like this again, please"
Omi kissed his shoulder reassuringly. "I'll stay and I'll wake you up again just like this later. Get more sleep."

Hinata Shouyou is trustworthy.
You know this.
It's the reason you met, after all.
⋇⋆✦⋆⋇ ⋇⋆✦⋆⋇
The summer you moved to Miyagi, following your father's dream of teaching in a little town similar to the one he lived in as a child, you were unhappy. Who could blame you, after all? You had a comfortable life back in Osaka, and unlike your father, you were a city dweller at heart. It was also the middle of your first year of high school—who wanted to transfer schools, let alone across prefectures, in the middle of a school year?
It was hot in Miyagi, and when the moving truck broke down on the side of the road, the entire family piled out and sat on the curb. Just your father (who you were still mad at), your mother, and you. That was what it had always been. Sure, you had friends, but somehow the friendships never got too deep. You were willing to bet that within a month, there would be no texts other than the occasional New Year's greeting or "happy birthday" from your so-called friends back in Osaka.
And don't even get you started on romantic relationships. It wasn't that you weren't attractive, or that you weren't easy to get along with—it was just that there was never anybody. Yes, you had liked people before, but nothing had ever come of it.
Your mother piped up, saving you from your dark thoughts about the state of your relationships with other people. "Y/n, love, can you go back down the hill again? I think we saw a konbini a bit that way, please buy some cool drinks." she says, depositing coins in your outstretched hand. Oh well, something to do, you supposed.
You strolled casually down the road, sweating buckets. When you pushed open the doors of the konbini—Sakanoshita Store, you noted, it definitely didn’t look like a konbini—opened, you basked in the cold air of the air conditioner for a bit. As you stood there, looking a bit dumb with your arms outstretched, you felt a weight barrel into you from behind.
With a bang, you fell forward, the weight landing on your back. "Ow!" you cried, rubbing your right wrist, which had unceremoniously made contact with the ground, pain shooting up the limb. You twisted around to glare at whatever had so unceremoniously bowled you over. You were met with the sight of wide, brown eyes and flushed cheeks. "Sorry!" the boy squeaked, getting off of you quickly. "So sorry!" You frowned and got up.
"Watch where you’re going, okay?" You were a few centimeters taller than him, you noted.
He started blabbering, talking about how he needed to get the first-aid kit because a "Stingyshima" had "accidentally" ran into "Bakageyama" and this "Bakageyama" now had a bleeding knee and that he was the fastest runner in their volleyball club (he was strangely emphatic about this point). By the time he was finished rambling, you were chuckling slightly. It was obvious that he hadn't meant anything by running into you, and it was actually kind of endearing how earnestly he was trying to explain himself.
You held up a hand, stopping him from continuing to ramble. "Y-you aren't mad, right?" he asked anxiously. You smiled and shook your head slightly. "It seems your team trusts you to help take care of your friend, so why don't you grab the first-aid kit and go help him?" You suggested gently.
He nodded quickly and darted behind the counter, grabbing a white box. As he jogged away, he seemed to remember something and turned around to holler at you. "My name's Hinata Shouyou! I'm a first year!" he introduced himself in a bright voice.
Just inside the konbini, a small smile slipped across your face.
Hinata Shouyou, huh. He seemed nice.
⋇⋆✦⋆⋇ ⋇⋆✦⋆⋇
Hinata Shouyou is trustworthy.
It's the reason you fell in love with him.
⋇⋆✦⋆⋇ ⋇⋆✦⋆⋇
The first day of school, you meet Hinata Shouyou again. And again. And again. He somehow seems to pop up everywhere you go—not that you're complaining, he's entertaining and nice—and soon, you think you can count yourself as his friend.
You go to his game against Aoba Johsai, then Shiratorizawa, then you're hugging him as he jumps up and down, celebrating their win. That’s the first time your heart jumps when you look at him, haloed by the lights of the gym.
Slowly, you feel yourself falling in love with him. Not just falling for him, no, because Hinata Shouyou will not let anyone do anything in halves, especially not falling in love. Shouyou, to you, (because by then you were on first-name basis) is someone you can rely on, someone that is always there, like the sun, trustworthy.
And because he is always there, it's also easy to confess to him in your second year. You know him well enough by now to know that even if he doesn't feel the same, nothing would change about your friendship except for the addition of unspoken words. And you think that he might love you back, if the lingering glances and brighter smiles are any indication.
Your guess is right, and by New Year's break, the two of you are a happy couple.
⋇⋆✦⋆⋇ ⋇⋆✦⋆⋇
Hinata Shouyou is trustworthy.
It's why you let him go, if only for a little bit.
⋇⋆✦⋆⋇ ⋇⋆✦⋆⋇
When Shouyou left for Brazil, you took a break from each other. To be honest, it was your idea.
It wasn't that you didn't think that you couldn't trust him ten thousand kilometers away—it was that you knew you would hold him back. He was going to Brazil to chase his dream, and having a tether to his hometown would only slow him down. It hurt, having to say goodbye at the airport, but somehow the two of you got through it.
You still talked—a little more than "just friends" should—but you were careful not to let him think that you were together.
Shouyou was meant for greater things, and back then, as an insecure, just-barely-adult going into medical school, you weren't sure if you fit into the picture.
⋇⋆✦⋆⋇ ⋇⋆✦⋆⋇
Hinata Shouyou is trustworthy.
It's the reason why you let him back in.
⋇⋆✦⋆⋇ ⋇⋆✦⋆⋇
When Shouyou returns from Brazil, the first person he visits is you. You, all the way out in Osaka, pushing yourself to your limits as you study for med school. When you open your door and see him standing there, smiling as bright as ever, you fall into his arms—both literally and metaphorically. It turns out, even two years later, you trust him to catch you.
It was all too natural for you and Shouyou to get back together, and by a stroke of luck, he joins the MSBY Black Jackals, right there in Osaka. You move in together, his slightly larger salary allowing the two of you to rent a bigger apartment.
Yes, it's hard work being in a relationship again, but you like having Shouyou to return to every night after your shift is over. You wake up early every morning to make the two of you breakfast and lunch, and Shouyou always has dinner waiting for you when you step back in the door, often also staying up so that you can talk.
You're content.
⋇⋆✦⋆⋇ ⋇⋆✦⋆⋇
Hinata Shouyou is trustworthy.
It's the reason why you think nothing of his closeness with his teammates.
⋇⋆✦⋆⋇ ⋇⋆✦⋆⋇
Shouyou has always been a people-magnet. Even back in high school, everyone loved him. Shouyou is bisexual. You know this. He’s always had more than enough love to give back, too, and his bisexuality had never impacted your relationship. Why should it, when you’re every bit as queer as him? Your relationship was strong, and you believed in it. That's why, at every team dinner that he takes you to, when someone else inevitably takes the seats next to him instead of you and you're relegated to a corner, you don't worry about it. Shouyou loves you, and it doesn't matter where you sit for a couple of hours.
Yes, Miya Atsumu is a bit aggressive whenever Shouyou compliments him, throwing a smirk over his shoulder at you triumphantly, but you chalk it to them being good friends and Miya-san wanting to get to know you better by having a little friendly competition, and that's okay.
Yes, Shouyou starts going out with his team more and more, but they're his team. He's supposed to be close with them.
Yes, you start to feel a little neglected, but it wasn't as if you were the most attentive back when you were still struggling through med school.
And anyways, Shouyou always makes time for the two of you on Saturdays, your designated date nights. You have trust in your relationship, in its rock-tight foundation built upon years of knowing each other.
⋇⋆✦⋆⋇ ⋇⋆✦⋆⋇
Hinata Shouyou is trustworthy.
It's why you believe his words.
⋇⋆✦⋆⋇ ⋇⋆✦⋆⋇
One Friday, after an especially busy shift at the hospital that got cut short for you when a coworker unexpectedly came in to fill in for you, you decide to head home early and get some rest, maybe cuddle with Shouyou while watching those romcoms you both enjoy.
You had told him that you'd be home late that night, and you hoped that you could surprise him with some dinner. So, you swung by his favorite yakitori place and ordered dinner, driving home as fast as you safely could.
As you open the door to your apartment, you hear the distinctive sounds of sex, skin slapping on skin, grunts and moans, high keens. You frown. Maybe Shouyou was watching porn? He sometimes liked to get himself ready (the two of you enjoyed the occasional pegging) before you got home. You drop the food on the kitchen table and put your jacket on the hook.
"Love, I'm home!" you call out softly. No response.
Frowning deeper now, you move towards the bedroom door. Just as you're about to open it, you hear something that stops you cold.
"A-ah, Atsumu!" It's distinctively Shouyou's voice, and suddenly, you can't move anymore.
Shouyou, who told you you could make it through med school.
Shouyou, who made you yakisoba and miso soup whenever you were stuck studying.
Shouyou, who whispered sweet nothings in your ear every morning as the two of you made breakfast.
Shouyou, who is currently in bed with Miya fucking Atsumu.
You want to get up, you want to slam open the door, you want to demand answers, but somehow, you can't get your legs to budge from the spot in the ground they've rooted themselves to.
Then,
"Who do you love, Sho?" Atsumu growls.
Your heart skips a beat.
No.
No.
You pray to all the gods you know that what's about to pass Shouyou's lips will miraculously stay trapped in his throat, but it seems like the gods don't feel kind today.
"Y-you, Atsumu, you!" you hear Shouyou cry.
Your heart shatters into a million little kaleidoscopic pieces. Tears start running down your face, hot, involuntary, painful, because they represent the six years of a beautiful relationship down the drain, because nothing will ever be the same, because Shouyou is cheating on you.
Finally, your legs decide to move again. It seems like someone else is controlling your body as you walk towards the door, opening it with a shaking hand.
Shouyou is pinned down by Miya-san on the bed, legs thrown over his shoulder, as he slams into him.
The door bangs against the wall.
Shouyou looks up, and when he sees you, his face floods with guilt.
You don't say anything. You just stand there, tears flooding down your face, betrayal evident in your expression.
"Y-y/n!" he says. "I-I- I swear, this isn't-" he begins.
You cut him off. "I don't want to hear it, Shouyou." you spit.
Miya-san chuckles. "Who are we kidding, this is exactly what they think it is. What, did you think that you would be enough to satisfy Sho? You, with your infinitely busy schedule? You, who has no clue about volleyball?" he says, cutting into you.
"Atsumu, stop!" Shouyou says, frantic. He can tell that he's going to lose you, but he's not going to go down without a fight. "Babe, I love you, please-" he says, getting out of Miya-san's embrace and moving towards you. You sidestep him, holding a duffel bag with a change of clothes.
You stand there, looking at the scene, chuckling darkly inside your head. Just a scorned lover, a man, and his side-piece. You take a deep breath.
"You know, Shouyou, if you fell in love with someone else, you should've just told me. I trust you to be honest. I'm leaving—because even though you might love me, you're in love with Miya-san." you said.
Shouyou looks stricken with guilt, but you know it's from lying, not because he loves you anymore. Your laugh is broken and rough on the ears. "You think I didn't hear you? Oh, Shouyou, I heard more than enough. Have a nice life, and I hope that you remember how you broke me. I hope it fucking haunts you to the day of your death," you hurl at him.
Because even though at that moment you're screaming at him, you know that you still love him, that you’ll always will love him, and that you will carry this scar for the rest of your life. And even though you love him enough to leave now, to let him be with the person he loves—you still have enough love for yourself to hope that he bears some of the weight of this horrible, messy end too.
And with that, you walk out the door.
⋇⋆✦⋆⋇ ⋇⋆✦⋆⋇
But you're wrong.
Hinata Shouyou might love Miya Atsumu, but he still loves you more.
Years later, looking back, he comprehends that he didn't just break you. As he stares at his empty apartment, devoid of a lover—because what you said was true, he still carries the guilt, the memory of your tear-stained face, the recollections of your golden time together that ruined any relationship he might have had before it started, the echo of your absolute trust in him,
—Hinata Shouyou realizes he ruined himself too.

You were waiting in the lobby of the stadium, arms crossed over your chest as you looked around. I saw a few banners that hold few faces and what looked like a team logo. “MSBY Jackels,” You muttered to yourself, reading few names as you looked at each banner, “Meian Shugo, Thomas Adriah, Sakusa Kiyoomi, Miya…Atsumu…”
He’s a volleyball player…
As you were looking at the banners, you then noticed a few people exit what you think was the locker room and ready to leave. Many of them passed you, giving you either a small wave, a smile, or wished you a goodbye. Expect three players who crept up behind you and startled you as one of them ask, “Why is ‘Tsumu helping you?”
Turning around with a startled look, you recognize them from the bar and from the banners. Looking at each of them, you said, “Sakusa Kiyoomi… Hinata Shoyo… and Bokuto Kotaro…”
“You know our names?” Bokuto asked tilting his head to the side as blinked.
“The banners,” You said, pointed to the ones hanging on the ceiling. “But he’s helping me because… I don’t know why he’s helping me…”
Sakusa let out a sigh through his masked, looking you dead in the eye, “A word of advice, don’t get too close to him.”
“Why not?” You gulped, biting your lip nervously.
“You’ll regret it,” Sakusa said grimly with a warning tone. "I know I do."
You nodded your head slowly, understanding what he was saying but Bokuto quickly slapped Sakusa back, making him cringe. But Bokuto ignored it as he smiled and laughed loudly, “Don’t listen to him! “Tsumu is a good guy!”
“Can you tell me about him?” You asked them with a kind smile. “What is he like?”
Hinata let out a thoughtful hum as he started to describe Atsumu, “He’s very passionate and a hard worker when it comes to volleyball. Once he put his mind into something he doesn’t stop until he finishes it.”
“He can be really stubborn too!” Bokuto chimed in. “There were times he would stay late after practice and refuse to go home until he perfected something.”
“He’s an idiot,” Sakusa deadpan. “He walks in the rain, he sometimes chews with his mouth open, he gets sick, he’s annoying and he doesn’t take of himself. Would you like me to continue?”
Laughing nervously at him, you shook your head, “No I think that’s good…”
“Whatcha guys talken’ about?” Atsumu's voice was heard as he joined the group.
“Talking how much of an idiot you are,” Sakusa answered, looking at him with a plain look.
“‘M not an idiot,” Atsumu yelled at him, a tick mark appeared on his head with annoyance. “Stop tellin’ people ‘m an idiot!”
“Then stop acting like an idiot,” Sakusa rolled his eyes. “Well, I got to go, see you all tomorrow I guess.”
“I should go to!” Hinata waved goodbye, following Sakusa out of the building, “See ya!”
“I’m going to get going too!” Bokuto stretches his arms over his head, “got to get ready to FaceTime Keiji! Later ‘Tsumu! Later…Um… I don’t know your name…”
“(Y/n),” You smiled at him.
“Later (Y/n)!” Bokuto waved, walking away and out of the building.
You gave him a small smile in return, watching him leave. Once he was gone, you turned to Atsumu who gave had a pout on his face, “They didn’t say anything mean about me did they?”
“No, they didn’t,” You gave him a polite smile.
“I hope not,” Atsumu muttered. With his pout disappear, he started to walk behind you and pick up the train of your dress.
Looking at him with creased eyebrows, you bend your knees a bit and tried to pick it up instead, “W-What are you doing?”
“Helping ya,” Atsumu said as if it was obvious, “don’t want the dress to be dirty.”
“It’s fine!” You tried to stop him but it was no use. Atsumu already was holding as much of he could in his arm. Remembering what his teammates said about him, you let out a sigh, “Thank you…”
Atsumu gave you a closed smile eye smile as he cooed, “Aw look at us! I’m helping a thief who stole a wedding dress!”
Sakusa was right…He is annoying.
“Did you really have to say it like that?” Your eyes twitched at him.
“Nah but I wanted to,” Atsumu smiled at you and then beacons his head to the direction of the door. “But let’s go, ‘m hungry.”
“W-What?” You staggered by him, walking next to him as he holds onto your dress. “Don’t think that’s a good idea since I’m wearing a wedding dress! People are going to talk and take pictures! I can’t have Haru see me.”
“Don’t worry!” Atsumu said without a care, “I know a place!”
What did I get myself into…
As the two of you walked, you were surprised how Atsumu was careful with the dress, making sure nothing touched the ground. You eyed him as the two of you walked, confused about why he’s helping you with your dress. You were even more surprised when the two of you arrived at what you assumed was his car. Atsumu was quick to unlock the doors and opening the passenger for you. With the door open, you eyed him curiously as you went inside, “Thank you?…”
“Anytime doll,” Atsumu winked at you, making sure to get the dress fully in before closing the door.
Doll?
You eyed him as he jogged to the drive side and got in. He flashed you a charming smile as he turned on the ignition, to which he furrowed your eyebrows in confusion.
Why is he being so nice and helpful?
Driving out of the parking lot, you looked through the window in front, occasionally looking at the blonde in the corner of your eye. You saw Atsumu was staring straight at the road, occasionally looking at the mirrors whenever he was changing lanes. Stopping at the red light, you bit your lip nervously at why he was doing this for you. Taking a deep breath in, you suddenly burst out, “Why are you going this?” Looking at him with creased eyebrows and eyes filled with skepticism, you waited for what he has to say.
Atsumu turned his face to the side, tilting his head back a bit as he looked at you with amusement. He just shrugged his shoulders, answering you honestly, “I don't know.”
You blinked once, twice, and a third time before you yelled at him in disbelief, “You don’t know!”
Atsumu laughed at your expression, looking back at the road. With the light shining green, Atsumu took his foot off the brake and pressed on the gas. You stared at him with wide eyes and disbelief as you stuttered out, “H-How do you not know!”
Atsumu laughed as he looked you in the corner of his eye and back on the road, “I didn’t expect ya to actually come to me for help.”
“You didn’t?” You said slowly, looking back at the road. Blinking your eyes questionable. You then turn back and look at him with the same expression, “Then why are you being so nice?”
“Nice?” Atsumu frowned, not taking his eyes off the road, “What do ya mean?”
“Like helping me with my dress,” You looked down, patted the skirt of the dress, “opening the door for me, and helping me…Why?”
“Isn’t that normal?” Atsumu blinked, creasing his eyebrows together. “‘M just doing what a normal person would do.”
“A normal person would do?…” You whispered to yourself, looking down at your hands.
Haru and Rieko haven’t been this nice to me…
Atsumu looked at you in the corner of his eye, seeing how you bit your lip down harshly. Seeing how sad you suddenly you became. Trying to lighten the mood, he smiled, “Since we gonna spend some time together, tell me about ya self.”
“Like what?” You looked up at him with a soft confusion written on your face.
“Just about ya,” Atsumu smiled, tapping his finger on the steering wheel. “What’s ya life story?”
“W-Well,” You looked back to the road, “staring with my childhood?”
“If only ya want to start their doll,” He smiled at him before looking back on the road.
“Okay,” You hummed, thinking back on your childhood, “my parents divorced when I was a so I grew up with my mom. We moved a lot since she’s own a publishing firm and wanted to be with her clients whenever they published a book. My father stayed here in Japan to run his business. But with having divorced parents and constantly moving around I had a good childhood, even if I barely made any friends… I moved here to Osaka for college and that’s how I met Rieko. She helped me get adjusted and was there for me. I then met Haru in one of my classes and a few months later were started dating… After we graduated I became a writer to a few bestsellers and I helped Haru get the COO job at (L/n) cooperations and a year later helped Rieko get a job there as well…And now it brings us back to here… What about you?”
“Let’s see,” Atsumu thoughtful hummed, “most of my childhood, my grandma raised me and my brother in Hyogo. Ma and pops were always busy with work so there we barely home. Played volleyball most of my life and now, ‘m getting paid for it.”
“That’s nice,” You couldn’t think of anything else to say but those words.
“Yeah,” Atsumu sighed happily, parking his car on the side of the road. “We’re here.”
Looking out of your window, you saw a small restaurant. Blinking at it curiously, you read the sign to yourself, “Onigiri Miya… Miya?”
“Yeah,” Atsumu smiled, gaining your attention as turned to look at him. “My little brother started it.”
“I see,” You hummed, talking off your seatbelt. You were about to open the door but Atsumu was quick to stop you, “Hold up!”
You looked at him as he quickly turned off the ignition and took off his seatbelt. Getting out of the car, Atsumu was quick to jog over to your side and open the door for you. Holding his hand out, he gave you a smile, “Let me help ya!”
“O-Okay…” You trailed out, eyeing his hand a bit before accepting it. Once you were fully out of the car, Atsumu closed the door behind and then grabbed to hold the train of your dress. You also helped him by picking up your dress a bit and whispered a small thanks to him. Once the train was in his arms, Atsumu and yourself then started to walk inside the restaurant.
Opening the door, Atsumu allowed you in first before following you inside. The two of you walked to the bar and went to sit on one of the stools. Atsumu carefully let go of the train, before sitting down. You told him to he didn’t have to be so careful but he just gave you a wink. Sitting on the stool next to you, Atsumu then yelled out, “Oi Samu! Where are ya!”
This place looks cute.
“‘M comin’!” You heard a voice yell out in the back. A few seconds later, you saw someone wearing all black with an apron appear who looked just like Atsumu, except for hair and eyes were different. “Geez, can’t ya just…”
“Can’t I just what?” Atsumu laid his chin on his hand with a smirk, seeing his brother look at you in shock.
“Hey ‘Tsumu.”
“Yeah ‘Samu,” Atsumu said in amusement, loving his brother's reaction.
“What did ya do?”

》 Bokuto Koutaro
Tumblr media
The sunlight made your dim curtains glow. Sleeping peacefully in bed was you and Bokuto. It was still quite early in the morning but Bokuto is an early riser.
As he opens his eyes, he smiles when he saw your sleeping figure, lips parted as you breath in and out.
You were sleeping in your silky nightgown, the straps falling to your arms — revealing a bit of your breasts. Bokuto’s eyes widen at the sight but he can’t help but feel giddy to see such a beautiful and sexy woman sleeping beside him.
Even though you and Bokuto shared a good amount of intimate moments, he was still shy whenever some of your intimate parts were showing, making Bokuto immediately cover his eyes, blushing madly. He peeked a little and decided to gently return the strap to its rightful place, not wanting for him to see freely without your consent.
At first he sigh in relief, but he suddenly felt a bit fuzzy. The sight of your breasts was enough to make him feel aroused — making him as awake as ever. It was one of those moments when he craves your touch and attention. He didn’t want to wake you up just to satisfy his needs. He didn’t want to be selfish.
Bokuto didn’t know how long he was admiring your face, trying to distract himself from those lewd thoughts but his eyes widened when he saw your eyes suddenly looking straight into his, heart thumping in his chest just like the first time he saw you.
“Good morning, Bo” you greeted with a sleepy smile, rubbing your eyes.
“Good morning my sugarplum!” Bo says with a big smile on his face, quickly pulling you into him as he gives you multiple kisses on your face, making you giggle.
“Looks like you had a good night’s sleep”
You say, running your fingers through his hair that just makes Bokuto melt, puppy dog eyes instantly at the touch.
“Let’s take a shower!”
“Okay-”
You squealed as Bokuto suddenly lifts you up from the bed and carries your bridal style to the bathroom.
“You have quite the energy this morning, Bo.”
Your innocence just made him stir up even more. Oh how he wanted to get a taste of you right there.
“(Y/n)-chan. Can I ask for kisses? I have a problem” says Bokuto shyly, looking away from you with his cheeks tinted red at the request. You raised your eyebrows to what he meant by problem. As you looked down, you finally get it. You cup his cheek and caressed it with your thumb.
“Now what got you so hard early in the morning, Bo?”
“You just look so dang sexy in that nightgown.”
You could melt right there. Bokuto was being so respectful towards you as he kept closing his eyes, fighting the urge to look at your beautiful breasts. Not wanting to strain him from his needs any further, you strip off your clothes.
“Open your eyes, Bo. I’m all yours.”
From his hair being droopy to instantly back alive, Bokuto smiles and immediately stripped, instantly pulling your body onto his, kissing you passionately and moaned at the feeling of your soft breasts against his chest.
“Turn on the water baby. We’re supposed to be showering.”
You say with a giggle. Bokuto didn’t listen as he wrapped his arms around you and kept kissing you all over your face, your neck and jaw. Reaching for the knob, hot water started to shower, hitting you and Bokuto but the ace was startled, instantly jumping from his spot.
“Baby- ow!”
Your eyes widened as you saw Bokuto on the ground — he slipped. Bokuto looks at you with puppy dog eyes, pouting like a baby.
“Bo! Are you okay?”
“What the heck? Why did you turn it on?”
“You know how much I love hot water when I shower.”
A smirk then appeared on Bokuto’s face that sent shivers down your spine as Bokuto then caged you between him and the tile wall.
“Why don’t we heat things up more then?”
》 Miya Atsumu
Tumblr media
It was one of those rare moments when you were the last one to arrive in your shared apartment with Atsumu.
“‘Tsumu?” you call for your fiancé, observing that the living room and kitchen was empty. Not hearing a response, you then went to you your shared bedroom but he wasn’t there. Hearing the sound of the shower running, it indicated that he just got home a few minutes earlier than you.
Opening the bathroom door, you could see Atsumu rinsing his hair. Hearing you enter, he turned around and beamed as he saw you.
“Welcome home, babe! Like what you see?” says Atsumu with a smug smile as he leans his arm on the wall and the other on his hips, empahasizing his naked figure. You roll your eyes at his childishness but you couldn’t help but laugh.
“What am I seeing?”
“Total hotness.”
“Really? I didn’t notice.”
From a smile to a frown, Atsumu gave you one of the most hurt expressions he could muster, crushing his ego.
“I’m so hurt by that babe.”
“I’m just kidding. You know I love you, ‘Tsumu.”
“Show me how much you love me then”
Atsumu remains silent as he stares at you, something dark encircling his orbs. You raised your eyebrows as he gazes at you from head to toe, checking you out in your office clothes, your tight knee length skirt that empahsizes your curves and how you purposefully let three of the buttons unbuttoned. You teased Atsumu, noticing how he has been texting you some dirty hints for the past few days. Stripping off your clothes, you then joined him inside the shower, smirking to how Atsumu kept his gaze on you, gulping to see you with no clothes on.
Atsumu leans down to your face, a smirk appearing.
“How was work baby?”
“Oh you know same old. How about you? Training must be exhausting, huh?”
You say with a smile as you felt butterflies in your stomach as Atsumu brushes his lips on yours. Your eyes widen and let out a squeak when he suddenly pulls you close and cups your butt, hands gripping on his shoulders for support.
“Oh believe me, I’m exhausted. All it takes for me to recover is some kisses.”
“I’m not that easy.”
“Oh please. You even said yes to my proposal.”
Flashbacks of Atsumu proposing to you to marry him was one of the happiest moments in your life. It still gave you butterflies to your stomach thinking about it like it was only yesterday.
Before you even get to reply, Atsumu smashes his lips onto yours, hungry for your lips. You moaned as his tongue slips in to your mouth, making Atsumu grip onto your ass even more. It was quite funny to see your fiancé desperate for you even though you two dated for a real while now. It’s like the first time you two kiss. An idea popped into your head, wanting to tease Atsumu.
“Yer so hot, (Y/N). I can’t get enough of ya.”
“Thanks babe.”
As you tilted your head to give him more room to kiss on your neck, you reached for the heater as the shower running, transitioning the temperature of the water from cold to hot hot — making Atsumu yelp and panickly turn off the shower before facing you.
“What the hell is wrong with ya?! I thought this was supposed to be sexy time!”
You laughed loudly as Atsumu’s face was beet red.
“Yer lucky yer so cute.”
》 Hinata Shoyo
Tumblr media
Hinata Shoyo came from practice and just wanted to soak into the bathtub — wanting to relax.
“(Y/n)-chan? I’m home!”
Heading towards the door, you greeted Hinata with a kiss on the cheeks before taking of his MSBY jacket and placing it in the laundry basket for you to take care of it later.
“You look tired, sunshine. You want to take a bath?”
Hinata’s heart flutters as you addressed him by his nickname you gave for him ever since you two started dating. He loved how you call him, noticing the loving tone you put in.
“I really do. I’ll go prepare the tub now!”
Before you could even reply, Hinata hurriedly went to the bathroom, closing the door behind him. He somehow felt a bit weird and he could feel his pants tightening. The wing spiker started to freak out, his face red. Wanting to get those thoughts off, he quickly took off his clothes and started to fill the tub with lukewarm water and pouring his favourite bath bomb that you introduced him to. He loves how the bath bomb makes your skin smell so good and milky smooth-
“Aahhh!”
From the kitchen, you stopped what you were doing as you heard Hinata’s scream. Alarmed, you quickly knocked on the bathroom door.
“Shoyo?! Are you okay?”
“(Y/n)-chan!”
“I’m coming in, okay?”
As you enter the bathroom, you saw Hinata already in the tub, the water still midway his hips but what caught your attention was his member making itself known, making your eyes widen.
“(Y/n)-kun! Don’t-”
“You need help with that, baby?”
Now you’ve done it. Hinata was more needy now. Hinata has been wanting to do you but he was shy to do so until the day finally came where he reached his limits.
“N-no! You don’t have-”
Hinata was in a stuttering mess as you start to strip off your clothes.
“You could’ve just asked, Shoyo. I don’t mind at all.”
You say with smile as you joined him in the tub, sitting on his lap and wrap your arms around neck.
“I-I want you, (Y/n)-chan!”
You let out a chuckle before you placed your lips onto his, Hinata instantly wrapping his arms around your waist, pulling you closer. You two had quite a make out session. Without knowing where your hands were going, you accidentally turned on the shower.
“Ack! (Y/N)-chan! Why did you turn on the shower?”
The poor baby rested his face on your chest as you immediately turned off the shower. The hot water didn’t startled you as you loved and preffered that temperature to shower in but Hinata was more into cold showers.
“I’m so sorry, Shoyo! I didn’t mean to.”
“Take care of me please.”
》 Miya Osamu
Tumblr media
You and Osamu were just hanging on the couch of your shared apartment, watching Osamu’s favourite cooking show.
“Gosh. You really don’t want to make Gordon Ramsay angry.”
Osamu hummed as placed multiple kisses on the side of your head, his muscular arms around your waist and legs tangled to yours.
It was just a lazy saturday night — with the two of you finishing 15 episodes in one sitting after eating dinner. As you lay into your boyfriend’s chest, you noticed how Osamu has been running his hand up and down your back and from time to time, he nimbled on your ear — a spot where he knows very well that you were vulnerable to, making you moan quietly. You gave into his touch and nuzzled your head further into his neck.
“‘Samu~”
“Yea baby?”
“‘Samu, I have to take a shower. It’s super late at night.”
“Can I come with?”
“It ain’t bad for the water bill so why not?”
You say with a giggle before getting up — Osamu’s eyes lingering on your fading figure, him getting a bit more needy than usual. He craved for your touch. He wanted love from you after being so busy managing Onigiri Miya.
Arriving in the bathroom, you were about to take off your clothes when Osamu caged you in between his arms, holding the sink. Your back was facing him so you look straight in the mirros with an amused smile on your face, seeing how your boyfriend nuzzled his face into your neck, shivering at his touch as you felt his warm lips and hot breath on your skin.
“Oh? Someone’s needy today.”
You say teasingly and brought a hand up to cup his cheek and lean your head back onto his shoulder, enjoying his kisses.
“I couldn’t stop thinking about ya all day.”
Smiling, you turned around and wrap your arms around his neck, pulling him into a passionate kiss. Osamu moans as he finally got a taste of your sweet lips, his arms immediately wrapping around your bum to help you sit down on the bathroom sink. You automotive wrapped your legs around Osamu’s waist, pulling him closer which made him groan even louder.
You pulled away, butterflies in your stomach and lips swollen from the kiss. You smirk as Osamu’s eyes were furrowed, not yet contented with the contact.
“You’re getting loud, ‘Samu. The neighbors might hear.”
“Yer such a tease. Why don’t we turn on the shower then?”
You raised your arms up, gesturing for Osamu to strip you. With a smirk, Osamu takes of your shirt while you take off your shorts. It was your turn to strip Osamu from his clothes. Your eyes were blessed to see his muscular build, your boyfriend smiling proudly the way you gawked at his body — boosting his confidence.
Stepping into the shower, Osamu turned on the water heater to neutral before pinning you against the wall, finally be able to make love to you. The cold tile wall against your back makes you shiver, Osamu taking this as an advantage to find your weak spots on your neck, you biting back a moan.
“Yer so beautiful, darlin’.”
Your fingers got lost in his hair, suddenly gripping it as he hits the spot on your neck, making him more turned on.
“Hop on a count of 3. One... two... three.”
As you hopped, Osamu securely catches you, your face now level witn his. Wrapping your legs around his waist and your hands on his neck, you two shared another passionate kiss — lips moving in sync with love and lust. You wanted this intimate moment to be more steamy, making you set the heater into hot mode, the hot water making contact with Osamu’s back, making him shout and jump from his spot.
“What the fuck?! It hurts! Did you do that, baby?”
“Sorry. It just got a little bit cold. Plus, i wanted this moment to be steamy if you know what i mean” you say with an exaggerated wink.
Osamu blinks at you for a moment before letting out a laugh, throwing his head back to how cute you were. Smiling, Osamu sets you down and hugs you, kissing your forehead.
“Damn i love you.”
“I love you too, my lil’ onigiri. Now shut up and kiss me.”

Character: Adriah Thomas x reader
Tumblr media
You waved to your neighbor before opening the door to your apartment, Adriah sighing as he shook his head, entering his own. For the past 6 months Adriah Thomas, a starting middle blocker for the MSBY Black Jackals a division 1 sports team has been hopelessly pining after his neighbor, who he could never seem to talk to. This all started when you moved about 8 months ago, you had had been trying to move some stuff up, but the elevator was under maintenance and you lived on the 7th floor. Luckily, the sweet old Land lady let you know about the sweet, strong, handsome young man that lived in the apartment to the right of yours.
You then knocked on his door with a smile, apologizing for disturbing him as you asked if he wouldn’t mind helping you. To this day he never could forget the flip his stomach did when he first saw you, and he did everything he could that day to keep himself from making a fool in front of you. He did not, and by the end of the day you had happily asked him to be friends. Friends because you had a boyfriend.
Over the next few months you and Adriah became close- not too close of course, you had a boyfriend and even if he had developed feelings for you he’d never actively pursue a taken woman. But that didn’t stop him from being a good friend. Adriah quickly became someone you could always go to, for a friendly chat, an uplifting conversation, a shoulder to cry on, a listening ear. Honestly, the list went on. He was there when your boyfriend decided he couldn’t be, he was there when your boyfriend would walk all over your feelings, he was there when your boyfriend would make you feel worthless.
If he was being honest with himself, he was being a better boyfriend to you then your actual boyfriend was, and you didn’t even know he had feelings for you! It hurt him to watch, it really did. And he tried to give you his advice, to leave him, that you were so much better than him, that you deserved so much better. But no matter what, all it took was a half-hearted apology and some day-old flowers and you’d forgive him like nothing happened.
Your boyfriend, Daiki Matsumoto. He was some ‘big time’ financial advisor for a financing company or, something like that. You didn’t talk about him a lot and Adriah didn’t ask. You spoke about him like he hung the stars in the sky, that is when he was on a winning streak as a boyfriend, which by Adriah’s count wasn’t often. Apparently you and Daiki had met in your junior year of college and you had been together since then.
3 years had passed, and you were still with him despite how frustrating and downright toxic it had gotten. It wasn’t abusive, Adriah definitely would have gotten more seriously involved then. But it wasn’t healthy either and it hurt him to see you have to go through that. At first he had been trying not to judge Daiki based off of what you had said, wanting to be able to make a clear and precise conclusion about him when he got to actually meet him....
Until he actually met him and realized he wasn’t that bad. He was worse. Adriah had gone out with the rest of MSBY, nothing too crazy because they are professional athletes, just out to a nice bar to have a drink or two and have some fun. Adriah had been sat at the table with Barnes, Inunaki and Meian while the MSBY 4 attempted to play pool, Bokuto & Hinata hilariously demolishing Atsumu & Sakusa.
The evening had been very pleasant. Definitely a breath of fresh air from their usually busy schedules. All had been going very well until another party had walked in, you and Daiki being among the other guests. Adriah had sent a smile and a friendly wave towards you, one you had happily returned. It was about an hour later, it was only 7:05, so the night was still young. Adriah had waited, not wanting to disturb you in case you were on a date until he excused himself from the table going to say hi to you where you sat at the bar.
“Hey Y/n.” The ‘smile’ you had been wearing earlier instantly turned bright, finally reaching your eyes as you turned to face him on the bar stool you sat at. He also noticed that you had been sitting there alone, when you came with at least 10 other people. “What happened to the group you were with...?” You sighed as you looked down, slightly turning so you could lean one of your elbows on the polished bar top stirring the small straw around in your drink.
“They weren’t really my group to begin with...just some of Daiki’s friends from work.” He nodded, him gesturing to the seat beside you which you invited him to sit in. It’s not like anyone was going to be joining you. You and Adriah talked for a good hour before someone cleared their throat behind you. You turned, “Oh! Daiki, this is my neighbor, Adriah Thomas. He’s here-” “I know...MSBY, right?”
Adriah nodded his head, putting on a fake smile to hide the clench of his jaw or the way his hand tightened around his glass. “You must be Matsumoto?” Daiki had a sort of, smug, smile as he slowly nodded, coming to stand behind you as he wrapped a hand around your shoulders. “You’re a professional volleyball player, huh? That’s certainly...interesting. I imagine it’s not very stable.” Adriah took a moment to collect himself. He wasn’t known for his temper like Inunaki, and he wasn’t known for intimidation like Meian.
But he could only take so much from someone he already didn’t like. “No more than any other job, but it pays the bills.” Daiki simply hummed, sounding unimpressed as he played with a piece of your hair, paying no attention to the fact he had insulted one of your close friends right in front of you. Adriah could care less that it was towards him, but he was ticked that Daiki would cause a scene without thinking of how you were feeling. “Anyways, I suppose it’s about time we go, it was nice meeting you-...I’m sorry, what was your name?”
Adriah offered a tight lipped smile, standing and effectively towering over the man. You coughed to hide the snicker that was sure to break through at the straight intimidation you saw in your boyfriends eyes. “Adriah Thomas, goodbye Matsumoto. I’ll see you around Y/n.” Adriah returned to his table, pretending to ignore the amused look he got from Inunaki and the widened eyes of Meian and Barnes, the other 4 still immersed in their ‘game’.
That all went down about 2 months ago, and Adriah’s opinion on your boyfriend had not changed. Adriah had been sitting on his couch, watching some TV. It was late, about 10:00 so he was gonna go to bed soon anyways. He turned the TV off when he started to doze off, being 6′7 it was never a good idea to fall asleep on the couch. He stood and stretched, cracking his back before he started to close everything down. He went to the door to put on the chain and make sure it’s locked when he heard your voice, you were yelling at someone.
Not wasting a minute he pulled a hoodie over his head and clumsily slipped on some shoes, before he unlatched his door and exited into the hallway. He hadn’t been able to talk to you lately due to MSBY being mid-season and his schedule as busy as ever. So, he hadn’t been able to learn that, “I said we’re done, Matsumoto! I meant what I said last week, we are finished!”
....You had broken up with Daiki....yOU HAD BROKEN UP WITH DAIKI.
“I asked you to leave, so please go. You have no reason to be here-” “I have every reason to be here you ungrateful witch! After everything I did for you and you have the audacity to leave?!” He brought his hand up, about to smack you when the deafening sound on skin on skin made you jump.
Only it wasn’t from you.
You opened your eyes to see Daiki grimacing, you saw a large hand gripping his wrist, your e/c eyes followed the wrist to see, “...Adriah....?” Daiki snarled, “You, stay out of this. This doesn’t concern-” “She asked you to leave.” You felt your heart stop at how low of a voice he was using, dark stare directed straight at Daiki, no hesitation present. Daiki mumbled out some curses, insults none of it mattered, as he scrambled out of the hallway, slamming the door to the stairs shut.
Adriah breathed out a breath of relief before the usual softness he typically carried returned. “He didn’t hurt you, did he?” You shook your head, “No, no he didn’t..” You both stood there in silence, both wanting to say something but not knowing how. “Y/n.” You looked up to meet his eyes, one of his large hands coming to rest on your face. Your heart started beating furiously in your chest, the butterflies you got when you first met him returning.
“Don’t go back to him..please..there are better people out there, and you deserve so, so much better...” You smiled, still a little shaken from what had just happened. “..I’m sorry you got dragged into that...I probably caused you a lot of problems. That seems to be the only thing I do.” You bitterly laughed as tears slowly fell down your cheeks, you struggling to hold in the sobs. Shaking his head Adriah leaned down further, resting his forehead on yours as you cried, hands coming to clutch at the sweat shirt he wore.
“...That’s the silliest thing I’ve heard all day, and I spent most of it with Bokuto and Atsumu.” You laughed at that, ‘mission accomplished’ Adriah smiled as his other hand came to cup your face as well, wiping the tears that were, albeit slowing down, still falling. “You are so sweet Adriah...you..you deserve someone real- really nice...and-and better....” Adriah shifted his gaze to meet yours, the proximity, or rather lack of it, between you making your already beating heart beat that much faster.
He smiled as he stroked your cheekbone, leaning in close. His lips were so close, so close to your own as he spoke. “I already have....” Tilting his head he secured his lips on yours, kissing you with all of the softness and love he could, trying to let you know just how much he cared about you, how much he truly loved you. Pulling away from the kiss he backed up a bit so he could look you in the eye.
“You are the best thing that’s ever happened to me, I mean that...I could never get someone better because there is no one better...I’m sorry if you don’t feel the same, and it’s okay if you don’t, I probably made things really weird..I can go-” He almost stumbled back at the sheer force of you throwing yourself at him, clutching onto him for dear life as you shook your head. “I feel the same, I do I promise!” Smiling, Adriah wrapped his arms around you, holding you in the hallway of the apartment building you both lived in.
Later, you’d probably kick yourself for dragging the relationship with Daiki on for so long. Adriah laughing as you hit his arm, you telling him he should have told you sooner. But one of the many things you would learn about Adriah Thomas was as determined and patient as he was, he easily had the biggest heart of any man you had ever met.  And as you entered this new relationship you couldn’t help but hope that it would be your last, and the ring that sat in a box in his pocket was proof he would make that dream a reality.

IWAIZUMI HAIJIME - PROMISES
Tumblr media
- summary - in which you reminisce on all the previous journeys and pit stops you’ve made prior to the current journey you’re on where you’re sat in the passenger seat in your husbands luxury car - fluff - x f reader
- an - for @zumisace , look after yourself for me and keep doing well in your classes i know you can pull through and make iwa proud too !! <3
-
“I’ll turn on the seat warmers, just give me a sec.”
Iwaizumi closed the door after you climbed into the passenger seat of his matte black Mercedes-Benz G-class ensuring you had managed to sit down comfortably before securing it shut. Seconds later you were joined in the vehicle by your husband as he fasted the seatbelt before starting the engine and pressing a few controls to ignite a heat from under the leather of the seats.
“So, work was good today?”
You were the leader of the PR team for MSBY, the same team your husband just so happened to be taking responsibility for regarding their athletics training. The two of you arrived at the stadium together every morning and separated upon the entrance of the spacious stadium where he’d make his way down to the gym and you’d retreat to the offices where you’d watch over the team from behind the scenes.
“Mhm, we’re gonna be going over some points for them to discuss in upcoming interviews. Right now, all eyes are on Hinata, we want to make sure he takes advantage of this and gets a good impression across straight away to hopefully garner support immediately.”
Iwaizumi hummed and gave a quick nod before tilting his head back and moving one arm to the back of your headrest as he reversed the car out of the private garage built discreetly under the stadium which was strictly reserved for staff and players of the team. You’d never get over how attractive your husband's casual gesture was, but the feeling of his soft breath against your neck and the way his musky natural scent that you found comfort in would reach your senses made your heart flutter every time he did it.
Successfully swinging the car out of it’s space, Iwaizumi brought his arm back and left it resting on your thigh, the other hand gripping the black wheel as he stepped on the acceleration and pulled the heavy car out of the garage to the small security station where the officer patrolling gave the two of you a firm nod and smile and lifted the gates for you to speed out onto the main roads.
The city lights of Tokyo drowned out the natural light of the stars above but you didn’t mind. After the two of you had lived in Miyagi for so long, the bright and fluorescent lights were a nice change of scenery after spending years under the clear night skies littered with the glittering stars above. Yourself and your husband were familiar with the rural scenery but that didn’t mean you didn’t like the busy and full environment you now lived in.
You’d both come a long way since moving to Tokyo. Previously being based in the Miyagi prefecture and studying at Aoba Johsai, that was your first pit stop as a pair on the way to bright futures.
Being third years with both academic, social and sports parts of your lives were a lot to juggle all at once but you’d both somehow managed. Sure, there was a slight set-back after your boyfriend and his team couldn’t make it to nationals for their final year but that wasn’t going to stop either of you working towards your long term goals as you both knew there were bigger opportunities than nationals that were yet to come.
The next leg of your journey was college. After graduation the two of you felt a big weight had been lifted off of your shoulders as you clung and cried to each other with nothing but pride and admiration for each other. You’d both made it to the end of the compulsory education part of your lives and were ready to write the next chapters. This chapter however, had two parts as Iwaizumi had accepted an offer a college out in California had given him and you had decided to study out in Tokyo where you’d be joined by other briefly familiar players such as Semi Eita and Konoha Akinori whom you’d had very vague introductions to in the past. Iwiazumi had debated with himself for countless nights regarding his offer and whether or not he should take it. It didn’t make things any easier for him knowing that Oikawa was leaving out to Argentina like he’d always planned to pursue his own dream; after all, that boy had the whole world waiting for him and he wasn’t one to leave people hanging.
Despite being adamant about wanting to at least weigh out the pros and cons of going and staying, you finally convinced him that he had a haul of opportunities just waiting to be taken by him in California and you’d promised him that no matter what he picked to do, the love and pride you felt for him would never falter. In return, he promised you that he’d do his absolute best and come back to you with a greater knowledge of the career path he wanted to take and a solid plan of the future he wanted with you.
You smiled softly thinking back to the streaming tears down his flushed face as he pulled and interlocked your pinky finger with his and gave it one last secure squeeze before the speakers announced his terminal gates were open and all passengers would make their way to the boarding line immediately.
It was safe to say that 5 years later and you had both kept your promises in place. The love and pride for him never did once falter despite the long distance between you both and the frustratingly short facetime calls and conversations. You strongly believed in the saying ‘distance makes the heart grow fonder’ and you decided this had been proved as the second Iwaizumi strode out of the return gates and locked eyes with you, the love you had felt for him had suddenly multiplied by a huge sum and you felt an overwhelming sense of pride just looking at him. He had grown even more handsome if that was possible, sharp features more defined, muscles filled out more, taller in height and his skin slightly more tanned as a result of being under the Californian sun over time. He looked more radiant too, the glow in his eyes and the bright smile that wiped over his face when he saw you. That was the second you knew he’d kept his promise to you too.
The two chapters of your years apart had finally closed and the next leg of your journey was one you’d take together again. Iwaizumi was set on making his career out in Tokyo where you had decided you’d be based yourself. Upon his return, he was offered several job offers and interviews at various companies and a handful of professional teams.
It was MSBY’s offer that caught his eye and his judgment only tipped furter in their favour when he remembered that MSBY was the team you were currently working for as a PR team member. Iwaizumi didn’t tell you about the offer, neither did he tell you about the interview and how well it had gone. You were too occupied with your own work and apartment hunting after you had brought up the idea of moving closer into the heart of the city with him to which he agreed immediately. It was only 2 weeks since your boyfriend’s return until you noticed an excitement stirring during the teams training session. Curiosity got the best of you and you wandered down to the large gym where the players were talking excitedly among themselves and Bokuto’s infectious laughter rang through the air.
“Bokuto, what’s Miya done now I swear if he’s-”
There stood your smirking boyfriend, arms crossed over his broad chest and MSBY coaches shirt clung to his frame.
“Glad to be working with you.”
You sputtered and didn’t bother hiding the shock on your face as your mouth gaped open and you tried to form a coherent sentence but had no luck.
“Sorry I didn’t tell you, I wanted to surprise you so… surprise?”
“Asshole!” you ran up to him and he caught you with ease as the players watched the scene unfold in front of them. Bokuto’s excitement radiating off the walls as Atsumu childishly made gagging noises despite Kiyoomi’s disapproving glare aimed towards him.
From then on, life was made easy for the pair of you. All the time lost from when you were separated between colleges, made up with now working and living together. After a week of being official colleagues, Iwaizumi had found a suitable and comfortable apartment for the two of you to move into. It was a little pricey but it was expected since it was located in the centre of the city and besides, the two of you were receiving a very generous income from the jobs you both worked as MSBY were a V-League and highly sought after team with a constant flow of income in all departments.
That was the next stop in your journey together. Moving in.
Life with Iwaizumi was already great but you treasured the first few real feelings of domesticity with him. You found yourself falling for him all over again after signing the papers to legally own the place together, pack up all your old things from your apartment where he had been staying with you until you both found a place suited to your requirements. Moving in officially with him was something you had always dreamed of but never had any clear ideas on how it would become a reality but here you were standing in the new living room of your luxury apartment with the love of your life.
You’d never forget the proud smile he gave you after you’d finally unpacked everything and had your limbs tangled together on the couch.
“I told you I’d keep my promise.”
“I never said you wouldn’t.”
“Fair point.”
That was what life with Iwaizumi felt like. Fulfilled promised.
The next promise he made was when he got down on one knee after a year of living back in Japan and a year of living with you.
“Look, you know I’m no good with this sappy kind of shit but I’ll try for you. Y/N L/N, you’ve been the light at the end of the tunnel for me for as long as I can remember and now look, you’ve helped me reach the end and I’m finally the man I wanted to be, I hope I’m the man you wanted or at least hoped for me to be too. I always held that promise I made to you years ago at the back of my mind and I have every intention of delivering it to you. I want you in my life for the rest of it and I can only pray you’d allow me in yours too so, Y/N, would you do me the honor of sharing the last name Iwaizumi with me?”
Just like that, this man had single-handedly stolen your heart again and you couldn’t stop the happy stream of tears from flooding your vision as you could only nod and choke out a yes before throwing yourself into his arms.
The next pit stop of your journey forward was none other than your own wedding. Nothing over the top since neither of you found yourselves dreaming of an extravagant wedding but your wedding was nothing less than a fairy tale. Old classmates, family and players from other teams from your highschool days attended and congratulated the two of you for finally reuniting and making things official. Oikawa made sure he was back for his best friends wedding and caused a scene as expected, tears of joy pooling in his eyes everytime he looked at the happy couple and his best man speech filled to the brim of old stories and mentions of how happy and proud he was of his best friend to have found himself and the love of his life so early on in his years.
The soft lights and background music created a dreamlike atmosphere as the two of you swayed to your own beat, your arms wrapped around his neck as his were secured around your waist. The soft glint in his eyes held nothing but the purest form of love for you as he continued to allow himself to get lost in your own eyes filled with the same admiration. An unspoken promise.
To love each other and stick together throughout the rest of your life.
Just like every other promise, that one was kept too. It had brought you to the present day and time. You and your husband driving home together after a long day of work. The soft city lights gradually became more scarce as the flashbacks of your memories together caught up to the present time.
Iwaizumi pulled into the private garage and parked the car straight into the usual parking space that was reserved for the two of you.
Stopping the engine, your husband gave your thigh a light squeeze to let you know you were home just in case you’d dozed off on the way back. You turned your head to face Iwaizumi and offered him a small smile.
“You were quiet on the way back, tired?”
Shaking your head you laced your fingers into the fingers of the hand Iwaizumi had left resting on your thigh.
“Nah just thinking.”
“About what?” He raised an eyebrow.
“You, us, how far we’ve come.”
A soft silence washed over the two of you as Iwaizumi looked away for a moment as if he was having his own flashbacks. Giving your hand a squeeze with his larger and calloused one he turned back to face you and grinned.
“You’re damn right we’ve come far I told you, you were always my light at the end of the tunnel, it’s all thanks to you we’re where we are today.”
You laughed and shook your head before resting the side of your head on the dashboard, eyes still meeting his.
“We’re a team Hajime, always have been, always will be.”
Grin never leaving his face, Iwaizumi leant down and pressed a tender kiss to your cheek, the warmth of his lips lingering on your skin after he moved back up.
He knew the two of you had relied and made promises to each other, but he meant it when he said that it was you that had brought you both to the point you were currently at. He wouldn’t have had anyone in particular to look forward to returning to and building a life with if he didn’t have you. You made him want to work hard and do his best and it was thanks to you that he felt like he could say in confidence he had worked hard for everything he had today and that included the matching rings on your wedding fingers.
“So,” He began after a few moments.
“What would you think about maybe expanding our little team then?”
A smirk played at your lips before you leaned up and gave him a knowing look.
“I think the more team players, the better.”
Laughing, Iwaizumi opened his door and walked round the front of the car to open your own door and lift you out as he always did. Taking your hand into his own, he walked beside you back up to your apartment ready to fulfill yet another promise and prepare for the next part of your journey together.

When Shugo was appointed as team captain, he didn’t really give it much thought and accepted the title with pride along with the responsibilities that come with it. He had the experience of being a captain when he was still a student, so it’s nothing new. The only difference is that he’s leading a team full of grown men instead of hormonal teenagers.
With a team like the MSBY Black Jackals, one of the top teams in the V.League Division 1, you’d expect players who are more on the professional side of the spectrum, the kind that always means business, practice first relax later, that kind of thing.
However, he was proven wrong when the younger ones of the team, namely, Bokuto Kotaro, Sakusa Kiyoomi, Miya Atsumu, and Hinata Shoyo are involved, the atmosphere is far from serious. Of course, when it’s time for practice they’re more focused, giving 110% into their training.
Even so, once that whistle is blown, signaling a break from practice, all hell breaks loose. If it is not Bokuto and Hinata bouncing around and screaming, it would be Atsumu and Sakusa bickering, well mainly Sakusa roasting Atsumu and the blond Miya trying to come up with the best come back he could think of.
From what Shugo could remember, Atsumu had none so far, so it was safe to say the setter’s verbal game is weak.
It’s not just them either, the older ones, namely, Oliver Barnes, Adriah Thomas, and Inunaki Shion would sometimes join the other four when they’re feeling playful that day, which just give Shugo more problems to deal with, and when all seven of them joined forces it just increase Shugo’s chances of growing gray hair at age 29.
They have a manager of course and he is there to help keep everyone in check, making sure they behave and all. But, with the team becoming even more well known, emails for brand deals, interviews and magazine photoshoots were sent almost every single day that it needs immediate attention and the only one for that job is their manager himself, Mizuno Takato.
Leaving Shugo to mostly deal with the team on his own.
So when Coach Foster and Takato told him they’ll be having another manager to take care of the team’s internal affairs, he was so happy he almost cried.
“Everyone I would like you all to meet, (L/n) (Y/n) and she will be your manager starting today so take good care of her”
You bowed your head as everyone shouted a “Welcome to the team!” with Takato holding up your very own MSBY jersey jacket. As everyone went around to introduce themselves to you one by one.
“Hey, hey, hey! (Y/n) I can’t believe you’re back!” Bokuto bounded over to you, picking you up, then spinning you around laughing as Hinata excitedly babbles beside him.
“Welcome back (Y/n)!”
You giggled, happy to finally see the friends you left all those years ago “I’m home!"
Bokuto gently places you on the ground, planting your feet to the wooden floor as you steady yourself. While the others who were curious about the exchange and the sunshine duo's familiarity with you walks over.
“You know her Kotaro, Shoyo?” Oliver inquired as Bokuto nodded his head, taking hold of your shoulders and pulling you in front of him, facing your new teammates.
“She was our manager back in high school, while Hinata met her during our training camps”
That was months ago and every day you have proven yourself to be a very reliable manager and Shugo could not be any happier.
“Congratulations everyone! That was a very good game” you said, giving them their towels and drinks as they sat down on the bench. Resting their tired muscles and regaining the lost energy from a very tiring 3 set match.
The Azuma Pharmacy Green Rockets were not an easy opponent, especially with players such as Kiryu Wakatsu, who was once a part of the top three aces in Japan and Goshiki Tsutomu who was Ushijima’s junior back in high school. Nevertheless, they still manage and won the game a good way to start their Monday.
“Goshiki’s straight is still as cool as ever” Hinata stated gulping down his water as Adriah and Shugo let out a sigh, remembering how they had problems blocking his spikes because of how close they mostly were to the line.
“He’s a very tricky opponent”
“Here you go, Sakusa-san” you pass Sakusa his own towel, the one you had specifically separated from the others as the spiker nodded at you in thanks, dabbing it on his face whilst listening to his teammate’s give their own commentary of the game and their insights of the opposing team’s players.
“Shugo, someone wants to have an interview” Takato called as the captain stood up from his seat about to walk to where they were waiting before he stops in his tracks and looks back.
“How about let’s have Bokuto, Atsumu, Sakusa, and Hinata do the interview this time?” he suggested, as Sakusa’s lips turned into a frown while the other three vigorously nodded their head “They're the stars of today’s game I’m sure the interviewer would love to hear from them”
Sakusa tried to make a last-minute getaway, but Atsumu took hold of the towel wrap around his neck and started dragging him, following after their captain.
“C'mon Omi-Omi, it'll be fun" Atsumu just grinned, watching Sakusa's face morph into a scowl as he tugs on the towel “Just live a little”
“I am living”
You quickly pack the empty water bottles and the dirty towels into the bag that Takato was holding while the rest slowly made their way back into the locker room “I’ll leave them to you (Y/n)”
You nodded, jogging after your teammates and immediately spotting them just outside the court, they've already started because you could hear the questions the reporter were asking them as you move to stand beside Shugo. The interview was going well, they were giving honest answers and honest opinions about the game, however, as it goes on, the reporter seems to have taken a liking towards Sakusa because he seems to be the only person the reporter was pointing the microphone at.
While the three idiots who were being ignored decided it was a good idea to do gymnastics at the back. You and Shugo watch in horror as Bokuto does a double backflip, landing perfectly on his feet, both hands raise high, Hinata mimicking his actions and Atsumu following after with a front split all the while not breaking eye contact from the journalist who had notice them. Sakusa who has had enough just plastered on the biggest I-Don’t-Give-A-Fuck face while giving one-word answers.
Shugo who can’t do anything about it just banged his head on the wall. He wished he could have an early retirement but God he’s still young.
“What happened?” Inunaki asks watching from the door as you scolded the four from their stupid stunt. Only Bokuto and Hinata were the ones who look guilty and were muttering apologies under their breath while Atsumu was pouting saying things like.
"I did nothing wrong" or "She was being rude"
Meanwhile, Sakusa doesn't even understand why you're getting angry with him as well, he answered that woman's question like what he was told to do, he just chose the fastest route and the lady seems happy.
“You’ll see later”
They didn't even have to wait long because, after an hour, the video was already circulating the internet, earning hundreds of views by the minute with people commenting like crazy.
“The good thing is, we just earned ourselves more fans” Adriah laugh, Takato’s phone in his hand, the device letting out a ding every minute as the team’s official Twitter and Instagram account were flooding with notifications of new followers or tagged posts.
«──────────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ────────────»
Meeting their fans were always one of the things they love to do, the prospect of connecting with people who had supported them throughout the years that they played just keeps them even more motivated to train harder and play better.
“Okay everyone, be gentle with the kids alright? Bokuto, Hinata I’m looking at you” The captain shot the two mentioned players a look to emphasize his point however the mentor-disciple duo wasn't even listening and instead was jumping in excitement, waving at the kids waiting at the other side of the field.
You chuckled, they're just the same as they were in high school and here you thought they've matured a little bit now that they're in their 20s.
Right now, the team was in Kawasaki for a mini fan event held in one of the city's local elementary schools. The team came to an agreement last night, after watching the hilarious black jackals’ post-game interview, that it would not be just fun and games. They should also discuss some bits and pieces of the position they play to give the children some insights and give an early understanding in case they plan to pursue a volleyball career in the future.
However, with kids being kids, didn't seem to care nor interested in the slightest because once it started, they quickly run to their favorite member and started climbing them like trees. The tall ones, especially Adriah and Oliver have at least two kids hanging on each arm, with one of their back, and another on their leg.
"It's good work-out" Takato noted, telling the other kids to do the same to the rest of the members before snapping a few photos to update the fans of the team's schedule for the day.
You guffawed watching as they tackle Atsumu to the ground, the blond screaming for help while clawing at thin air for something to grab.
"Don't worry Atsumu-san, I'll help you!" Hinata tried so hard to pull Atsumu up, but another kid jump on his back resulting in him losing his footing and falling beside the setter.
Bokuto wanted to offer his assistance, but a little girl accidentally tripped him, landing on the two.
"Bokkun, yer heavy!"
"Sorry!"
It turned into a messy dog pile and Sakusa, who was beside the chaos, move his own horde of children to another area before showing his wrist trick. A chorus of oohs and aahs was heard, as the kids watch with wide eyes as it easily bends forward before a boy decided to do the same, but backward, and you have never been so bothered by something before.
You close both eyes, involuntarily shuddering 'Goodness, what are they feeding these children?' you crack an eye open to take a quick peek to check if they stopped but no, another kid also wanted to show his own freak talent and now there's three of them.
You turn around, you're just going to let them do their thing, they seem to be enjoying it anyway.
Feeling a tug on your skirt, you look down to see a little girl looking at you with sparkling eyes.
“Onee-san, you’re so pretty” she said in awe, as you leaned down to be at eye level with the girl.
“Oh? But you’re prettier”
She shook her head, and place her small hands on your cheek “But onee-san is like a princess”
You clutch a hand to your chest at how precious this little girl was, Takato was definitely having a field day because he has not stopped taking pictures. The girl took your hand and led you towards the garden, sitting you down under the tree as she picks up a flower crown and placing it on your head.
“There! It fits you perfectly!” she beamed as you try your best not to just wrap her up in your arms and hug her all day, she was just so cute. Her smile is so bright that somehow she reminded you of Hinata, a ball of sunshine with smiles that could light up the whole room.
“Do you have another one?” she nodded her head and showed you another that was half-finish. You remove a few pieces of flowers, switching it with ones of a different color then adjusting its size before tying both ends.
“Now, there are two princesses” you put the crown on her head as she giggled.
You continued making more flower accessories with her, flower bracelets, flower necklaces, and the likes then putting them on each other. She was a bright and bubbly girl, she would share you some stories of her and her older siblings, her parents and her friends in the elementary school.
You wanted to hear more, she was a good storyteller.
Time flies by so fast when you are having fun is what they would always say and you agreed with that saying because before you even knew it, it was time to go home. Everyone is standing by the gate, saying their goodbyes and telling promises to visit again.
“Bye-bye, pretty onee-chan!” she waves at you, standing beside her teacher, proudly wearing her flower accessories.
Later that evening, everyone was lounging around in the living room, tired from playing with the kids all day. The others were watching the news, however, no one was even listening to the television, because their attention was in the game Oliver and Shugo were having.
Inunaki leaned down to whisper something to Oliver, who's face light up, as he moves his queen to eat Shugo's rook.
"Hey, no coaching!"
Inunaki just shrugs his shoulders in response as he discusses their next strategy.
"I'll help you Meian-san" Hinata took a seat beside his captain, observing the board with such concentration. Brown eyes carefully scanning the positions each piece were place before whispering in Shugo’s ear. Following his suggestion with no doubt whatsoever, Shugo moves his queen forward only for it to get eaten by Oliver's pawn.
“Bwahaha!” Atsumu was bent over, clutching his stomach as he wipes the tears forming at the corner of his eyes while Bokuto tries to console his dejected kouhai in between laughter.
Inunaki and Oliver snickered sharing a high five.
«──────────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ────────────»
“Adriah, I need you to tighten that block a little more!”
“That’s good, keep it up Kiyoomi!”
“Okay, follow up, follow up!”
You stood at the sidelines, your eyes following their move as they were currently having a match against each other, Coach Foster and Takato were beside you observing the men on the court while occasionally giving out directives.
A camcorder was prep on your left side to record the practices, the videos will be used as a study material to properly assess the things that needs to be corrected in order to improve their gameplay. While you note down the commentary Coach Foster was saying to add later.
It went on for an hour, their stamina never fails to amaze you as they continuously, jump, dive, and run just to keep the ball in the air. After checking his wristwatch Coach Foster decided that it was time to end the training for the day. So he blew his whistle and the game immediately came to a halt, the ball bouncing on the wooden floor and they drag their tired bodies to gather in front of him, wiping their sweat with their shirt as they waited for his announcements.
“Okay boys good job today, keep in mind what I said and practice more on what you need to improve”
They slowly bob their head up and down, too tired to give out a verbal reply. Coach Foster doesn’t seem to mind because he knows they’re taking his advice seriously.
“This will be the last practice for this week so enjoy your weekend off and rest properly”
After that, they immediately spread out and started cleaning up the gym as fast as their tired bodies can so that they could finally rest and eat some good food.
"Shugo I need the report for last week, can you give it to me by tomorrow?"
"Yes coach, I'm almost done"
Lies, he hasn't even started yet and he was nervous that he won’t be able to finish it on time and if he ever submit the report late, Coach Foster was going to whoop his ass. So many things have happened this week that he never finds the time to start it yet, not even a single paragraph.
No, not even a single sentence.
Seeing your captain's inner turmoil, you walk up to him and whispered "Don't worry, I'll help you"
Shugo shot you a grateful smile, ruffling your hair "You're a savior kid"
That was how you found yourself sitting in the kitchen counter, laptop in front of you, staring at your current work. It would have been easy if the report was in Japanese but Coach Foster prefers it in English.
Shugo was sitting across you, hands fast and typing away, Takato was seated beside you rewriting your notes while the others, who still weren’t feeling sleepy at 11 pm were in the living room watching a movie.
"How do you spell Schweiden again?"
"S-c-h-w...uhh" Shugo's mind seems to have failed him mid-spell as he closes his eyes to try and remember.
"S-c-h-w-e-i-d-e-n" Sakusa finished for him as he walks into the kitchen to get himself a glass of water. The movie must have already ended because the others were already piling into the kitchen, cans, and bottles of drinks in hand and food wrappers place in bowls.
"How's the report going?" Inunaki peered behind Shugo's shoulder.
"It's going great" It’s not, it’s actually not, Shugo is definitely close to pulling his hair out. He glared at his laptop as he continues on smashing the keyboard keys, opting to finish the report as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, you felt like your brain was short-circuiting, English is definitely a hard language, it's complex, it's tricky and certainly a pain. One word can mean two things depending on the pronunciation and its sentence usage and can have a whole different meaning when spelled and one letter is missing, like for example 'public', take one letter out and what do we get?
Pubic.
Anyway, that's not the point, the point is English is hard, and you were close to losing your mind.
You took a sip of your drink, which was coffee mix with a monster energy drink, it was definitely death in a cup but you couldn't care less. You need to stay awake and your deadly concoction was doing a great job keeping your eyes open.
"You know” you started resting your chin on your palm, taking a break from your suffering “I find it amazing how the names of professional volleyball teams are so long like-”
You scroll through the list you have saved in your laptop's notepad “-three to five words at most yet they are referred to by a single name"
"What do you mean?" Takato shifts his eyes from his notebook to you tracing the rim of your cup as your eyes focus themselves on the ceiling.
"I mean there's the Eastern Japan Paper Mills Raijin and everyone calls them Raijin, the Azuma Pharmacy Green Rockets is called Green Rockets while Schweiden Adlers is referred to as Adlers"
"Yes, go on"
"MSBY Black Jackals is sometimes called MSBY or Black Jackals but even those names are a mouthful"
By now, everyone's attention was on you, curiosity flooding their mind as they wait for you to finish.
"So the team is mostly referred to as BJ" you look up and with the most serious face ever, you said "But has anyone even realize that BJ also stands for blowjob?"
Hinata, who was drinking a glass of milk choke on his drink while Atsumu slowly turns to look at Bokuto mouthing a "What the fuck?"
Oliver let out a nervous chuckle "You should take a break (Y/n)" he tries to set your laptop aside so you could rest your exhausted brain, but you shook your head and started working again, finally having the idea outlined in your head. That short break was very effective because your hands were seamlessly gliding over the keyboard keys, as input more words in to your work.
"Also, what does MSBY even mean? Most Significant Byte? I don’t get it"
They don’t get it either, as to where this is all coming from. They swore you have it stored in your mind for so long and just waited for the right moment to tell it.
It was amazing too because while you were going on and on about anything that you could think of, you were also typing on your laptop. Hinata took a peek to see if you were actually doing your job instead of just key smashing, but he was surprised when he saw you busting out an actual paragraph in English while spewing out nonsense in Japanese.
Multi-tasking sure is an impressive skill. He should learn it sometime.
You ran a hand through your hair, you were starting to have trouble again. You were in the zone for about 30 minutes but after that, the effect of your drink started to wear off and you were on a dead end.
The others had decided you hang out in the house's big kitchen doing their own thing, your eyes darted from every corner of the room, trying to find some sort of a cure to help your mental block.
Adriah was seated next to you scrolling through his phone as he nibbled on a pocky stick, you tap him on the shoulder as he looks up at you questioningly "Adriah-san, could you slap me in the face?"
Taken aback by your request he sputtered, almost dropping his phone "W-what?"
"I need something to keep me awake and this is not working anymore" you gestured to your now empty cup "I'm guessing the pain might keep me awake until I'm done with this"
Now, if you actually wanted to feel pain you could have asked at least one of the team's spikers, but you were not dumb enough to actually do that.
Adriah search your eyes for any signs that you were joking, but he found none "Are you sure (Y/n)?"
You assured him that it would be fine, so he raises his hand up as you prepare yourself for the impact.
Sleep must have been overtaking everyone's mind because it took them a few seconds to realize what was happening. Adriah's hand already collided with your face, he had underestimated the force he put in that slap but then soon find out he put too much when a smack resonated inside the kitchen as your body fell from the stool and landing on the cold tiles.
The whole room erupted into a panic as your body lays unmoving on the floor.
“Oh meu Deus!”
"Shit, shit, shit. Adriah what did you do?!" Inunaki kneeled down beside you, the cheek where Adriah hit was glowing red with a visible hand mark starting to form.
"I don't know, I just did what she ask me!" Adriah replied, equally as panicked.
Takato was now checking your pulse, to see if it was still beating. It was a bit exaggerated, a slap wouldn't kill you but with how strong Adriah did it. Takato wouldn't even be surprised if you snapped a vein in your neck.
Bokuto being the drama queen that he is, was shouting words like “(Y/n), don’t die you’re still young!” followed by a “Akaashi will be so sad if you go!”
And Atsumu, instead of being a good senpai that he claims he is, didn’t even think to help you. Instead, the first thing he did was to grab his phone and went live on Instagram to broadcast the madness happening in your shared kitchen.
"Goddammit Adriah!"
"Why are you blaming me?!"
Fortunately, you just passed out; picking you up, Takato carried you back into your room, and tucks you in. Gently closing your door, he goes back into the kitchen to calm them down before the neighbor calls the police on them.
He let out a heavy exhale, rubbing his temples “They’re hopeless”
What would he do without you?
«──────────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ────────────»
When you woke up the next day, you could still feel a stinging sensation on your cheek, your head hurt as well, you wondered what happened to you after you blacked out. You sat up in your bed, rubbing the sleep from your eyes and checking the clock on your night stand to see that it was already 8 am.
So you get out of bed, and walk downstairs into the kitchen to see everyone already there preparing breakfast. It seems like it wasn't just you who woke up late, because after Adriah slapped you to sleep, Shugo roped all of them into helping him with his report, and since none of them were familiar with the job. It took them until 2 am before they were finished and immediately e-mailed the document to Coach Foster.
"Good morning, how's your cheek?" Oliver eyed the slowly fading red mark on your cheek, standing besides Inunaki, holding a plate as the libero carefully places the pancakes in a neat stack, then flipping the other one that was still in the pan.
"It still hurts a little" you took a seat between Hinata and Sakusa, already eating their breakfast.
Adriah passed you a plate with five pancakes stacked on top of each other, a slice of banana on the side, followed by a cup of your favorite coffee. Your eyes were literally sparkling, the food looks so delicious and it smell so so good you almost drooled “I'm sorry about last night"
He gave you a gentle smile, eyes soft, whoever was going to be this man’s future lover sure is very lucky.
"There is nothing to be sorry about Adriah-san, I was the one who asked for it" He was such a sweetheart, it wasn’t even his fault yet he took the time to prepare your food himself, now you just felt guilty by asking him to hit you.
You took the bottle of maple syrup Sakusa handed to you as you drizzled some of it on top of your pancakes "Also, please remind me to never do that again"
Everyone collectively agreed, after last night's scare, there was no way they were going to agree to any odd request you have, no matter how serious you were.
Breakfast was quick, mainly because everyone had a photoshoot to attend at 10. It was a magazine photoshoot for a swimwear by a very well known brand, however it was also the photoshoot they were looking forward to. Because not only was the brand a favorite of theirs, they’ll be partnered with famous models as well, so it was a win-win on their part.
After everyone was finished, the dishes were immediately cleaned, the table wiped off of any food crumbs while the trash was taken out. The guys went back to their room to get ready, and once everyone was ready to go, they piled into the bus as it drove off to the beach which was the venue for the photoshoot.
"It's sure is refreshing to be walking by the sea" Inunaki gazed towards the blue water splashing along the shore, following after their two managers towards the area where tents, chairs and cameras were already set-up.
"It looks so beautiful too" Oliver said, kicking the white sand under his flip flops as the staff led them to the chairs lined out. The make-up artist immediately worked on their look that was going to be aligned with the photoshoot's theme.
"Ahh~ it's so hot" you hold the mini fan closer to Bokuto's face while Sakusa takes the one you were holding out for him, beads of sweat running down your face as Takato took care of the others. Of all the times they have to choose, it has to be in the middle of the day, when the sun is up and proudly shining.
The models were in another tent, dressed in their robes while they waited for the stylist to finish the last touches on the boys’ hair, once done, they changed into their designated swimwear, while the girls removed the robes they were wearing.
It took them about two hours before they were finished, the director wanted to get as many shots as he could so he had plenty to choose from. The break in  between takes were crazy because the make-up artist and stylist had to jump from one person to another just to do some retouches, the girls especially, were very fussy and wanted their make-up redone every thirty minutes.
“This is the last time I’m working with models” Sakusa grumbles, as you hand him a packet of wet wipes as he takes a piece and rubs the lipstick stain off his cheek when the model he partnered with gave him a kiss earlier.
You could only offer him a sympathetic smile, even though this was not his first endorsement, he still wasn’t used to interacting with strangers. Not so keen to them casually touching him and invading his personal space.
“Oh Kiyoomi~” Sakusa let out a groan before turning to look at the woman jogging towards him, already changed into a yellow sundress and a sunhat on top of her head. “Here”
She placed a folded paper on his palm “Call me” then blew him a kiss before she walked away. Sakusa opened the paper to see her name, number and even address written on it.  He stared at the paper for a good second, before he met your eyes.
He just looks so done with everything.
“Isn’t this our lucky day?” Shugo whistled, pieces of papers on his hand while slinging an arm around Bokuto’s shoulder and sharing a grin with the pepper haired male. With Atsumu trailing behind them, saving the ones he received in his phone. Oliver threw his away because he’s happily married, while Adriah, Inunaki and Hinata gave theirs to either Bokuto or Shugo.
“The models” Sakusa started, looking at them as he crumples the paper on his hand “They’re married, all of them”
Oh
Shugo dropped the papers in shock, jaws slack while Bokuto immediately deleted his copy, not wanting to get involved in a scandal just in case, and Atsumu was still having second thoughts, staring at his phone, his thumb hovering over the delete button.
Should he or should he not?
Sakusa just rolls his eyes before stalking off into the tent.
They quickly change back into their own clothes, leaving the venue with bags of the swimwear they just modeled. The brand’s logo is big and bright in the middle as your group walks to where the bus was parked.
“Ah, Captain Jackal” Shugo turned his head to see Schweiden’s captain walking over to him, wearing their team uniform, his hand raised in a wave.
“Bird” He leaned to the side noting the group of children crowding behind the area where he just left “Were you doing a meet and greet?”
“Yes, surprisingly the kids love Ushijima and Kageyama” Fukuro pointed to the two mentioned players with kids crowding at their feet, some hanging on their back while the others tugs on their arm “By the way, is (Y/n) here?”
Shugo pressed his lips into a thin line, turning his body to face Fukuro properly. “I know what you’re trying to do”
“No, you don’t”
“We’re not giving you our manager, get your own”
“But you already have two!”
“I don’t care!”
They glared at each other, a month after you became a part of the team, Fukuro tried to recruit you into joining the Adlers. He even sent Ushijima, Hoshiumi and Kageyama to talk to you hoping that the idea of having familiar faces in the team would change your mind but alas, you were more comfortable with MSBY so you declined every attempt.
However, Fukuro found your one weakness and he’s using it to his advantage whenever he can.
He caught sight of your figure standing near the bus, he shot Shugo a smirk before cupping his hands around his mouth “Oi (Y/n), Adloo’s here!”
They heard you gasp, letting out an excited squeal.
“Adloo!”
You shove your things into Atsumu’s hands and sprint towards the mascot who was already holding out his arms for you. Shugo felt his eye twitch at the smug look on Fukuro’s face as they watched you rock the mascot back and forth with glee. He marched to where you were burying your face on Adloo’s soft fabric and plucking you from its side, then walking towards the bus, but not before shooting Fukuro the dirty finger.
«──────────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ────────────»
It was finally the weekend and it was the start of their long awaited day off, Takato had left early to go home to his pregnant wife while Oliver also went home to his family. Leaving the single ones to enjoy the weekend to themselves. It was already 8 am and you were currently sitting on the laundry room’s floor, separating the whites from the colored ones.
The dirty laundry had been left lying there for almost a week because of how busy everyone was, everyday there was always something new to do, new places to go, and new schedules to follow. Now that it was Saturday, you took it as the chance to finally do it.
Picking up a piece of shirt, you saw a big spider laying underneath it. You jump up, letting out an inhumanly shriek as it circles around in its place.
“(Y/n) are you okay?! What happened?!” you pointed to the spider now crawling the walls of the washing machine, while running to hide behind them in the hopes they’ll get rid of it.
“What the fu-”
“Miya, kill that thing” Sakusa pushed Atsumu forward as the blond stumbled into the room, brown eyes zeroed in on the insect in fear that it might jump on him the second he turned away.
“Are ya crazy?! That thing’s huge!”
He jammed himself in between Shugo and Adriah, pushing the two forward to be the new sacrificial lamb, the bug now sitting on the top of the washing machine stared back at them, unmoving. Black orbs following their movement, calculating, as if choosing his victim.
Which of these idiots should it jump on first?
“That’s it, this place is infected, we’re leaving”
“Hold on a sec, we ain’t leaving this place just because of one spider” Atsumu tried to reason with the man, but no luck however because Sakusa just thought of another way to get rid of the spider.
“Fine, lets burn it down then”
Sakusa turns to retrieve a fire starter and gasoline from the supply closet, actually serious. Atsumu quickly grabbed the back of his shirt, stopping him from actually setting the house on fire. If there was one thing that everyone learned from being with Sakusa for so long, when he says he is going to do something, he is going to do it.
No bullshitting.
So if he says he’s going to throw Atsumu out of the second floor balcony, best believe he’d be doing it an hour after his declaration.
“Even worse! This house costs millions Omi, our combined earnings won’t even cover for the damage!”
“Actually, it can”
“(Y/n), yer not helping”
“Okay, that’s enough” Shugo went in between the two “Let’s catch the spider first before it gets away”
“Uh… Meian-san” Hinata lifted a shaky hand pointing to where the arachnid was supposed to be, but the space is empty. Panic ensues and everyone searches high and low for the bug, lifting up furniture and other decorations looking behind paintings and opening kitchen drawers.
“Everyone it’s here!” Adriah called from the living room, he tiptoed towards the spider, jar in hand, ready to catch it in case it disappears again. You held in a breath when he was only a few centimeters away, slowly he lifted the jar and covered the spider. Sliding a paper underneath it, then took it outside to dispose of it.
Inunaki let out a sigh of relief before walking back into the kitchen to finish inspecting the fridge for any more ingredients to cook. The gang had decided to have Shabu-Shabu for lunch later and he was checking if there were enough ingredients left to serve 8 people. While you went back to the laundry room to load the clothes into the washing machine.
“We need to buy more” Inunaki closes the fridge door, as he checks the cupboards for the sauces and other spices.  “Meats and vegetables especially”
He took a piece of paper and wrote down what needs to be bought, double-checking the list if he forgot anything.
“We’ll go!” Atsumu pulled Hinata and Bokuto towards him then pointing a finger at Sakusa who was spraying the kitchen counter with some lysol then wiping it with a rug “Omi-Omi too”
“What? No”
He declined, but the blond just ignored his protest before looking at the older members. “We’ll be fine”
“Are you sure?” Adriah leaned on the counter as he looked at the troublesome four, they have done grocery shopping so many times before and it always turned out okay, the only difference is that before there was at least one of the older members accompanying them, while this time, they were choosing to go by themselves.
“No need to worry Adriah-san” Hinata tried to reassure the man, and although Adriah did relax a little he still hadn’t agreed to it yet. You walk in the kitchen, the first batch of laundry already in the washing machine, tumbling around as the detergent removes the dirt and bad smell.
“I don’t see a problem” Shugo pipes up “They’re adults now, I’m sure they wouldn’t fail something as simple as grocery shopping”
Inunaki was still a bit hesitant, his eyes darting to each face of the younger members of the team, though mainly focusing themselves on Atsumu and Bokuto, because he knows those two share a brain cell but don’t know how to use it.  However, Shugo is right, so he gave you the list and the money before following the five of you into the garage.
“So who’s driving?” Shugo held up the keys, twirling them on his fingers while they put on their face mask and cap to avoid getting recognized in public.
“I will”
He stared at Atsumu, eyes blinking before turning to you, jiggling the keys. “(Y/n)?”
You shook your head. “I’m still learning Meian-san”
“Ya gotta trust me captain!”
“I find that hard to do Atsumu”
Shugo retorted, but still dropped the keys to Atsumu’s hand as the blond opened the car and turned it on.
“Don’t damage her!”
“We won’t!”
The three of them watched, as the car went out into the driveway and zoomed through the streets. Leaving a trail of dust behind as the vehicle went out of sight in just seconds.
“I think, I made a mistake”
«──────────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ────────────»
You stumbled out of the car, your heart beating fast and knees wobbly, clutching the side of the door as the trauma of a near death experience still haunts your mind.
"I think I'm going to throw up" Hinata pressed his palm on his mouth, face pale, his other hand wrapped around his stomach as he tried to contain the puke threatening to come out.
“I thought you said you could drive?” Sakusa shot Atsumu a glare, adjusting his mask. When the setter offered to drive, you thought he was actually good at it, you did not expect for him to almost crash the car at the gasoline station or nearly run an old woman over.
“That was dangerous Tsum-Tsum” Bokuto massaged his forehead, he hit the back of the driver’s seat rather hard when Atsumu slammed his foot on the break, just a few feet away from killing an old lady. Fortunately, there were no traffic enforcers nor police officers nearby and the woman didn’t even realize she was close to meeting her creator today. She happily crossed that street, as if she owned the place.
“Hey! I’m just not use to this car okay?” the setter reasoned patting the car’s hood, rubbing his palm over the sleek black top “It’s different from the one I drive back home”
“If you can drive it doesn’t matter what car, you’ll still be able to drive it properly” Sakusa crossed his arms, raising an eyebrow “Did you even pass your driving test?”
“Of course I did, I got 90%,” Atsumu answered proudly, placing his hands on his hips with his head held high and his lips upturned into a smile.
“Was the instructor a girl?”
“Yes”
There was silence, everyone staring at him doubtfully, eyes narrowed and judging.
“Stop looking at me like that!”
“But guys…” Hinata called as he waved them over, pointing at a long scratch mark on the passenger’s door. It was big, about an arm’s length. “Captain is going to kill us”
You walk around the vehicle to check the other side, to see another one on the side of the car’s hood. You clutch your head in frustration, face drained of any color, it would’ve been okay if it was just one, but there’s actually two of them. “Meian-san just bought this four months ago”
“We have to pass by a repair shop before we go home” Bokuto scratched the back of his head. “Tsum-Tsum is paying for the paint job of course”
“Alright, alright. Sheesh. Let’s go buy the groceries first” Atsumu quickly huddled everyone together and started pushing you all into the market’s entrance.
The farmers’ market is always the best place to buy ingredients, it’s cheap compared to the ones sold in malls where prices are doubled, sometimes even tripled, and it’s just ridiculously expensive. You can bargain with the vendors as well, in case some of the items were a bit too pricey. Luckily, the market isn’t too crowded, there weren’t many people buying yet which was unexpected since this place is usually packed during the weekend.
However, there was also one thing that you didn’t expect. Apparently, with how many times you frequent this place during your shopping trips, either one of the boys had made friends with some of the vendors.
“Hinata look, it’s you!” Bokuto held a tangerine next to Hinata’s head lifting his hat a little and grinning at how the fruit’s color was almost the same shade as his disciple’s hair.
You pick up another tangerine, examining it for any damages before looking through the rest of the ones displayed. While the others look through the rest of the fruits they offer, bananas, avocados, apples and some grapes. Anything they found very appealing was picked up and placed inside the bag.
“How much for all of these?” you look at the girl, pointing at the bag that’s almost filled with fruits, but she seems to be looking at something else. You turn around, following where her eyes were focused to see the troublesome four eating some of the fruits.
“We haven’t paid for those yet!” you shriek before turning to the girl again and bowing furiously “I’m so sorry! I’m so sorry!”
“Wouldja relax (Y/n)-chan?” Atsumu took hold of your shoulder, stopping you from hitting your forehead on one of the crates “These are free samples”
He pointed to the little corner of the stall where smaller size crates were neatly arranged, three pieces of each fruit sitting inside with the sign reading free sample, pasted at the front.
“They’re really good (Y/n), here” Bokuto fed you a piece, watching as you munch on the sweet and juicy fruit.
You let out a hum, swallowing the fruit “This is good” you turn to look at the girl, eyes wide “This is really good
She gave you a shy smile, a light shade of pink now visible on her cheeks “Really? Thank you”
“So, how much for all of these?” you opened your bag, pulling out your wallet.
“It’s okay, this is free”
You almost drop your wallet from what she said, you shook your head fishing out a few thousand yen bills and giving it to her “No, this is too much”
She pushes back your hand, lifting up your bag and giving it to your companions “Consider it as a gift” then she moves to serve the other customer in waiting, waving your group goodbye.
Sakusa pushed you to move when he still saw you staring at the rejected money in your hand, leading you to where you were going to buy your meat. Passing through the vegetable stands where you still need to buy some for when you’re finished at the butcher’s shop.
“Hiruma-san good morning!”
“Ah, come in come in!” an old man from behind the counter grinned, lifting the clever over his head before bringing it down on the thick meat place on his wooden chopping board. “What would you like today?”
He wipes his hands on his apron, walking behind the glass case grabbing a tong, snapping it a few times as they pick the meat they like for their lunch later. They were pointing mostly at anything they lay their eyes on, and Sakusa has to remind them about the budget and that they can’t have pork, beef, lamb, and duck at the same time.
“The others didn’t come with you today?” the old man asked, picking up the pork and beef slices that were far too many and bagging them.  Then he grabbed another bag and went to the fish area.
“They’re busy at the house”
At the corner, you were counting the money, mentally calculating your budget again. The old man was giving large portions of the meat and you knew that it wasn't very cheap. Just a few cuts alone were worth a few hundred yen, what more when there are two types of meat involved with different varieties of fish thrown into the mix.
He tied the bags then gave it to Atsumu and Bokuto as Sakusa refused to touch the raw meat, not until it had been washed properly, not even if it’s packed away in a bag.
“This one is on the house”
“What? No!” you scrambled towards the man, almost tripping yourself in the process “Hiruma-san please just take the money, this is too much”
“This is a thank you for being such good patrons” he didn’t even let you say another word, the man just walked off to the other side of the display case catering to another customer who walked in.
What is up with these people ignoring you?
Hinata led you out, patting your back, chuckling at the pout on your face.
“Hinata, is our money not good enough?”
“Maybe they’re just feeling generous today (Y/n)”
You stood outside the shop, eyebrows furrowed in thought, you were starting to wonder if they were genuinely just being generous folks or there was something hidden behind their actions.
“Now, all we need are the vegetables then we can go home”
You look around for a nearby vegetable stall, one that you think is not friends with any of the guys so they’ll have no choice but to accept your money like a proper businessman.
“That one” you pointed to the one just besides the meat shop. “I’ll go”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, just stay put” then you walk off face determined. “Hello”
The vendor put down the crate he was holding, wiping his hands on his pants and walking over to you.
“(Y/n)?” You internally groaned, your old high school classmate standing in front of you at the other side of the stall, and here you were hoping it wouldn't be anyone you know.
“Masuda, long time no see” you nodded your head at him, picking through the vegetables. They were all fresh, he must’ve just arrived.
“Yeah, six years is a long time” He grabbed a basket holding it out for you, as you picked out, mushrooms, carrot, green onion and napa cabbage. “Doing some grocery shopping for the team?”
He gestures to the large amounts of vegetables you’re dropping in the basket “Yep, they’re big eaters. All of them”
He laugh placing them inside a plastic bag “They’re athletes after all”
“How much?”
You accepted the plastic big, the money ready in your hand.
“No. it’s free” you squint your eyes at him, pursing your lips “Consider it as my payback for helping me so many time during high school”
“School has nothing to do with this Masuda” you grab his hand, slamming the money on his palm “So for the love of all things holy, just accept the money”
You stared him down, daring him to refuse it one more time. He nodded his head, clutching the cash as you walked away satisfied that finally, finally, someone accepted your payment. You swore, if these people just keep on giving their products away just because the customer is a friend or a relative, you won’t be surprised if they go home without any profit at the end of the day.
“Let’s stop by the repair shop first then we’ll go home” Atsumu reminded before looking down at Sakusa’s outstretched hand “What?”
“Give me the keys, I’m driving this time” He snatched it out of Atsumu’s hand then climbed into the driver’s seat.
«──────────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ────────────»
"It's such a nice day today isn't it?" Shugo leaned back in his chair, placing his hands behind his head. The cabana tent serves as a good shade from the afternoon sun.
Adriah removes one of the earbuds from his ear, hands still moving across his notebook as he writes his notes from his Japanese lessons "It is, the sun feels really good"
They were now in the backyard enjoying the rest of the day besides the pool, Hinata and Bokuto were already playing in the water doing some diving tricks they saw on YouTube. (Y/n) and Atsumu were on the other side, the girl dying the setter’s hair as his roots were starting to show up, meanwhile Sakusa was still inside, probably finishing up on his cleaning.
“Wish days like these would last” Inunaki leaned down, opening the cooler beside his feet, grabbing three bottles of beer and giving it to the two. Opening the packet of chips resting on the table as they munch on some snacks, listening to the song they had put on the speaker to play.
"Kiyoomi, what have you got there?" Adriah asks as the germaphobe walks towards the garbage bags. Masked on his face, his hands covered with plastic gloves, holding what seems to be a ziplock bag filled with some sort of articles of clothing.
"Miya's dirty underwear" he swiftly answered, opening one of the bags and immediately tossing the ziplock bag inside and closing it again "He left it lying around in the bathroom again so I'm throwing it away"
He walks back into the house, probably to resume his cleaning escapades as the three older men could only watch his retreating figure, speechless.
"Should we tell Atsumu?" Adriah took a worried glance towards the piled garbage bag, eyebrows furrow in concern, before looking at the two again.
Inunaki waves his hand, biting on a potato chip "Nah, he'll find out soon once he realizes he's missing a few pair"
So they just continued whatever they were doing, Hinata and Bokuto's shouts and laughter echoing throughout the open space. A cool wind blew past them, ruffling the leaves of the trees planted near the fence as the flowers swayed along with it.
"Bokuto grab a drink here" the pepper haired male pauses his game with Hinata as he climbs out of the pool, water dripping from his body as he crouches in front of the cooler.
"Do you have soda Meian-san?" He rummaged through the multiple bottles and cans of alcohol, pushing the blocks of ice to the side before his eyes landed on the familiar green and black color scheme of a mountain dew can.
He took the can, and three more bottles before opening them and walking to where Hinata was now sitting at the edge on Atsumu and (Y/n)'s side of the pool, giving (Y/n) the soda and the two other bottles to Atsumu and Hinata.
“I’m still bothered about Atsumu’s underwear” Adriah once again turned around in his chair, eyes trained on the garbage bag, waiting for the time it gets to be picked up. “We could-“
A loud honking sound was heard from the other side of the fence as you stopped what you were doing. "The garbage truck is here" jogging to where the bags were resting. Bokuto and Hinata follow after her. Helping the girl carry them out, with their setter's underwear lying amongst the trash in one of the bags, and Atsumu, who was none the wiser, happily held the back gate open as the three walked out and gave it to the garbage man.
They shared a look, as if they had just indirectly participated in a crime, as the garbage truck drives away towards the other houses in the neighborhood.
“Let’s just hope Atsumu still have some spare left”
Sakusa who have already finished cleaning walk towards their area. Already changed into a pair of shorts, a t-shirt and a pair of flip-flops with a book tuck under his arms.
"You want a drink Kiyoomi?"
"No, thank you" Sakusa answered, before situating himself on the lounge chair and opening his book. It was rare for Sakusa himself to willingly join everyone, he's usually not into gathering or bonding that much, so the team must have reached a new level of personal hygiene for the Sakusa Kiyoomi to hang out with them.
It's probably the result of (Y/n) constantly reminding them to wash their hands with alcohol and hand sanitizers, telling them to wear face masks when they're out travelling. Lecturing them how pollution and their constant exposure to sweat and social interactions with other people can lead to a disease. When you had said that, they thought you were going to evolve into Sakusa 2.0 but remembered that you were a university graduate with a degree in sports science so they can’t really argue with that one.
“Maybe I should dye my hair as well, what do you guys think?” Shugo started as the two looked at him questioningly, watching as the captain inspected his hair through his phone’s front camera, running his hand through it as he tugs at the end.
Inunaki snorts, slumping on his chair “Oh please, you’re already old”
“I’m not old! I’m only 29”
The libero deadpanned at him “You’re literally one birthday away into turning 30”
Adriah just laughs, closing his notebook and looking at his captain “What color do you have in mind?”
“Blond looks cool” Shugo shrugs his shoulders, watching as you apply the last remaining dye on Atsumu’s hair.
Inunaki groaned “Oh god no, you’ll look like an old man trying to be hip”
“I told you, I’m not old!”
“Oh yeah? Because that gray hair says otherwise”
“What?”
Inunaki and Adriah pointed at the front part of his hair, as he held up his phone to see a strand of gray hair sticking out among his dark locks.
“What the fuck”
“Congratulations captain, that is a milestone” Adriah patted him on the back laughing.
Shugo stared at it in disbelief, lifting a hand and wrapping it on his finger then tugging.
"Don't pull it out, did you not learn from your elders?" Inunaki scolded him, slapping his hand away.
"Learn what?"
"If you pluck it out, they'll spread faster. Just let it be, it's not even that noticeable"
Shugo looked at it again then ruffled his hair to see if it could be hidden within the rest, and was satisfied when he saw it could be covered.
Silence filled them again, munching on their chips and drinking when Atsumu's booming voice erupted from the depths of the huge house.
“Where the heck are all my underwear?!”

Dear XXXX,
Thank you for your suggesting me for the higher position. I would have to respectfully decline your offer as I would not like to leave the Japan branch. It is not optimal for me to move outside the country at the moment personally. Thank you again for your offer.
Y/n L/n
You sent out the email, making you let out a sigh. You waited for Sakusa after work again and saw Atsumu like before. "Hey girl," He waves at you. You wave slightly and Atsumu noticed how you weren't as lively as before. "You okay?"
"I guess," You sighed. "Where's Omi?"
"He's showering right now. What's wrong?" Atsumu moves next to you and nudges your shoulder.
"I got an offer for a promotion but I turned it down since I'd have to move away from Omi. I would've gotten three times my pay righy now. I didn't want to leave Sakusa just like that," You explained. "Only thing is, was it worth it? I did it for him but I'm unsure it'll be worth it. I've been dating Omi for less than a year but I haven't.."
"Haven't?" Atumu asked.
"I haven't kissed him yet, I haven't even held his hand. I-I just want to hold him," You huffed. You looked up and see your boyfriend approaching.
"Get away from my girlfriend," Omi growled at Atsumu. He puts his hands up and backs away from your car.
"Later Y/n! Bye Omi," 'Sumu smiled. You and Sakusa get into the car to drive home. The ride home was quiet as you two sat in traffic. Sakusa lived nearby and you'd drop him off to practice before work.
"How was practice?" You broke the silence.
"Fine, Hinata and Bokuto were being very rambunctious today," Sakusa complained. "I also hit my wrist instead of spiking but I'm okay. How was work?"
You hesitate but sighed. "Tiring, I got declined for a promotion," You lied.
"It's alright baby," He reassured. "Let's get some food before you drop me off. My treat."
The two of you stop by to get take out barbecue and rice. You ate in the car together, enjoying each other's company. After eating, Omi hands you a hand wipe. Your hand grazes his on accident and you pulled away. "Sorry baby," You say after touching him.
"It's okay," He responds with wiping over the spot you touched.
Watching him do this action hurt you. Seeing as the man you've been dating clean off your touch made you feel unwanted. You pushed away your feelings and drove to drop off Sakusa to his place.
The next day, as the MSBY boys take a break from drills, Atsumu seats himself near Sakusa. "How's Y/n?" Atsumu asks.
"Fine, why do you ask?" Omi groaned.
"Nuthin, did she tell you about her promotion?" He asks before chugging his water.
"Yea, she got declined," Omi says putting on hand sanitizer.
"Declined?" Atsumu furrowed his brows. "She turned down that position. She told me."
"What do you mean?" He turned to look at the setter.
"She got offered a position in a different country," Atsumu explained. "She turned it down for you but she's questionin' if she should've taken it. Since you never kissed her and stuff."
The setter got up from his water break but Sakusa stops him. "What do you mean she's questioning?"
"Well, y'know she's been wanting to kiss you? She told me how you don't touch her and she doesn't know if turning the promotion down was worth it. The new job would've benefited her way more than her current pay. C'mon, practice is starting again," Atsumu says. Before Sakusa got up, he sees a text from you.
Y/n ♡: Hey Omi, I'm not in the best of moods and I have a headache so I went home early. I don't think I can pick you up today. I hope practice is well, I'll try to tomorrow, love you <3
Omi puts down his phone and gets up for practice. He joins the rest of his team, later asking if he could catch a ride with another player.
You laid on your side hugging a pillow on the couch. You took medicine for your headache so you just thought you'd rest up in the living room. You began to overthink your choice. Was it worth it declining a once in a lifetime offer? What if Sakusa breaks up with you and you made a bad choice? You squeezed the pillow tighter and felt your eyes watering.
Not long after, you found yourself crying your eyes out. You sat up wiping away your tears and walked to the bathroom. You looked at yourself in the mirror to see your moist, rosy cheeks. You splashed yourself in the face with water as you heard a doorbell.
You dried off your face and hands as you walked to your door. You open the door to see your boyfriend standing a few feet away from the door. "Hi baby," He says.
"Omi? What are you doing here?" You tried to hide your sniffles but you couldn't mask your shaky voice.
"Wait were you just crying?" Sakusa takes a step forward. You shook your head. He could see you were hurting. Your feet were turned in, you hid your hands in the towel, and you looked away from his face. Sakusa hesitated to step forward so he just paused before talking. "Why didn't you tell me you declined the offer? You said you got rejected."
"I didn't think it was important," You shyed. "It's just a job."
"A job that you love, baby you said it yourself you wanted to get higher and you turned it down for me," Sakusa argued. He saw your eyes become glossy. Then it clicked. You watch as he steps into the house, closing the door behind him.
Sakusa takes a step closer to you and pulls off his mask. He paused but he pulled your chin up with his index and thumb. You looked at him shocked as he's never touched your face before. You panic for a second seeing him up close without his mask.
But before you could talk, he pressed his lips against yours. Your eyes slowly close as you felt your boyfriend's hand pull your body closer. His soft lips moved in sync with yours. Your cheeks flushed red as Omi pulls away. "I'm sorry Y/n," He whispers, putting his forehead against yours.
"W-what for?" You were still in shock from feeling your boyfriend's touch for the first time.
"For making you question our relationship," He says. "For making you think I never wanted to touch you. I'm sorry for not doing better. Truth is, I thought you were the one who didn't want to touch me."
"Wait what?" You chuckled softly.
"You always respected my fear and I thought you just didn't want me to touch you. I thought it made you uncomfortable, you always apologize whenever you accidentally touch me," Omi explained. "Why didn't you say anything?"
"I wanted to respect your boundaries, I thought I'd be intruding your bubble. I've wanted to kiss you for a while and hold you but I was scared you were never going to kiss me," You move your face away from him. He uses his hand to turn your head to look at him again. Omi leans in once more to place another kiss on your lips. He pulls away and smiles.
"I think I like kisses," Omi chuckled. You kiss his cheek and wrapped your arms around his torso. "I promise to do better."
"Do you promise to give me kisses?" You pouted.
"I'll do you one better," He kissed your forehead. "You can get all the kisses you want, you can hug me, hold my hand, anything."
You raised your eyebrow at him. "Anything?" You chuckled. "Even cuddles?"
"Yes," He sighed thinking about how close you'd be. "Even cuddles, if you shower first."
"Then come shower with me," You joked before letting go. "I'm kidding, I'm kidding, I'll be back." You tried to leave but he grabs your wrist and pulled you towards him.
"If I’m going to touch you, I'm cleaning you so I know you're clean," Omi says. Your cheeks flush red from his words but you hold his hand as you walked to the bathroom.

----xXxXxXxXxX-----
✧ Sakusa Kiyoomi Route:
That left you alone with him.
What was his problem? You complained in your head as your squad leader continued to glare at you, surely an entire ten-page lecture on the tip of his tongue as Sakusa stood in silence.
It was a well-known fact that Sakusa Kiyoomi led one of the best teams in the entire scout regiment. He was rumored to have been within the top ten of his class during his year in training, but decided to join the scout regiment anyway instead of living comfortably within the inner walls the Military Police provided. He garnered lots of respect for his quick tactics, strength that rivaled the large Ushijima, and his overall mental stability.
He was ever the enigma to you. So stern and determined on the battlefield and yet so dramatic in the face of germs. Even before when you were just a cadet, the young man had intimidated you to no end. You feared the days you had to work with his squad, before you were initially assigned to a team.
Apparently Sakusa hadn’t even wanted to be in the leadership position, but his skill against Titans were undeniable. Sakusa’s determination spoke louder than he did - he was thorough with his kills and protected his squad-mates, even if he complained about them all the time.
When he was promoted to Squad Leader, he was given enough liberty to choose his team from scratch. He had strange relationships with the other members of your squad, but you were not one to pry into their pasts. Everyone had their own demons and you remembered more than once Atsumu waking up in the middle of the night, murmuring the name of his brother.
You were surprised when he chose you to be part of his squad. Not as physically adept as Sakusa or Bokuto or even Hinata, you made up for it with your mental prowess. Not that you were a sitting duck either, your all-around skills earning you a spot in the top twelve of your entire class. And, originally, you actually had your eyes set to be on Tendou’s squad.
The researcher had even greeted you at the choosing ceremony, saying that he looked forward to working with you, along with his charges Shirabu and Kawanishi.
And so it was to your surprise when Sakusa had personally chosen you.
That was years ago and you had long since accepted your role as the only other brain cell on the team.
To your knowledge, Bokuto and Atsumu were the first to be chosen to join Team Sakusa. Hinata was invited a few years later and then lastly, you.
You were happy to learn the little pieces about Sakusa’s personality and you were grateful that he had chosen you for your abilities. There were other teams spread throughout the Scout Regiment that would have catered to your skills, but after years of thinking about it and wondering what could have been, you felt that your rightful place was on his squad all along.
Sakusa cared little about his own reputation away from the battlefield, that was obvious. But he was surprisingly strict to how other people perceived his team. He did not tolerate any disrespect toward his squad.
This led you to question your earlier injury. Was he angry about what you had done? You did not want to appear as reckless to others in the regiment, putting a bad rep on your squad leader.
You decided to try to be the bigger person, “I’m sorry I was reckless. I promise I won’t do anything that will bring reproach to the team.”
“If you think that’s why I’m mad, you’re an idiot.”
You scoffed loudly, turning to him with your own glare when Sakusa bent down and slotted his lips against yours.
What.
Sakusa gently cupped your cheek, pecking you lightly before backing off just as quickly. His forehead rested against yours, your wide eyes a contrast to his closed ones. Sakusa let out a long sigh, feeling the warm breath against your skin.
“Do you know how scared I was?” Sakusa asked against your lips, the movement setting your cheeks aflame. “I didn’t even know if you’d make it.”
“I -”
Sakusa interrupted you, “The entire wagon ride back, you were barely breathing. And there was nothing I could do.”
You moved a hand over his, trying to gently caress at the skin as he laid out his feelings.
“That red-head idiot tried to keep us in the dark, but the fact that he was worried too made me just as pissed.” Sakusa explained, “I could care less about his project and even less about his excuses.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Sorry for what?” The agitation was clear on his face, “For giving up your life for some shit pet-project? For worrying your teammates? For -”
You stated. “I’m sorry for worrying you.”
“Sorry isn’t going to cut it.” Sakusa backed off your body, leaning away to look you in the eyes. “If it was up to me I would have you strapped to a desk job for the rest of your life.”
“My sacrifice -”
“I don’t care.” He was quick to cut you off, upturning your hand to grasp under his own. “You’re more than just another soldier, do you understand? You need to be more careful - for me.”
You stared back dumbly into his dark eyes, usually so blank and uncaring, now full of life and worried about you. To think that your Squad Leader, whom you squashed your crush on months ago, was pleading with you over your life. A part of you never wanted to see it again, see Sakusa so miserable because of something you had done.
“Promise me.” He whispered, squeezing your hand to grab your attention.
You moved to cup his cheek, leaning up as you gingerly tried to guide him back to you. “I promise.”
Sakusa closed the distance, putting more pressure as he brought his lips to yours. You openly moaned at the sensation of his tongue against the crease of your skin, welcoming his affections like someone starved.
You allowed Sakusa to envelop you whole, gently guiding him in and around you as the war was pushed to the back of your mind. The two of you would make this work, your love shining against the darkness of the cruel world.

Beach Volleyball (Atsumu’s Daughter)
@guardiansofasgard Hi! Can i request a Haikyuu one shot where the reader is Atsumu’s 10 year old daughter 😊
Of course! This is actually my third time writing it because it got deleted more then once -.- Hope you enjoy it! If anyone has a one shot they want me to write I’m going to be writing all night! ~ Kai
Atsumu walked onto the hot sand, watching his teammates throw balls in the hot summer sun. There were very few occasions the MSBY Black Jackals so they took advantage of it whenever they could. They decided to take a relaxing day at the beach and play a few games.
You were thrilled that your dad finally decided to let you join him in his work, he was always too busy to spend time with you. You were sitting under an umbrella next to Sakusa. “So, your one of my dad’s friends?” You said cautiously. Why was he wearing a face mask to the beach?
“Yeah, you look exactly like Atusmu its almost chilling.”
“Thank you?”
About 5 minutes later you get engulfed into a big hug from behind. It was Natsu, Hinata’s little sister. “What’s up Y/N!! ITS BEEN FOREVER! I haven’t seen you in like- 4 years!”
“Oh my god hii!! You got so big!” You smiled, Natsu had to be at least high school age by now.
Hinata was not far behind her, all the boys started to set up the nets for a game while you and Natsu started to catch up.
“All right, let’s start to form the teams-” Atusmu said.
“Do I get to play this time Dad!”
Atsumu sighed, “You know we are professionals right? I don’t think you would be able to keep up with us.”
“Says the one who couldn’t even serve ‘till year 2 of high school…”
“Hey! Watch your mouth Y/N” You could tell he was about to smile. You definitely got his attitude.
“Atsumu! Stop bickering with your daughter and come play!” Hinata yelled. “And just let Y/N play when is she ever going to learn how to play if you dont let her!”
“FINE!” He pouted. “Sorry Y/N, I didn’t mean to yell at you, you’ll be on my team alright?”
You nodded and followed him over to the court. There were four people on each team, on team 1 there was Atsumu, Bokuto, Y/N and Sakusa. On team 2, there was Hinata, Natsu, Inunaki, and Meian.
Natsu was the first to serve, she threw the ball in the air and jumped into a beautiful jump serve. The ball hit hard against the sand on the other side. Hinata smiled, “THATS MY SISTER! I KNEW YOU WOULD BE GREAT SOMEDAY!”
Natsu was able to rack up 4 more points before Bokuto was able to hit the ball back over. As the game progressed, you started to get even more nervous. They really are professionals, how am I ever going to be able to play with them? Are they going to be mad if I mess up?
Of course in the midst of your panic, you were up to serve. The ball shook i your hands, you starred at it then back at your father. “I-I only know how to serve underhand…I think you should just skip me.”
“That’s alright! As long as it makes it over the net.” Atsumu smiled.
Ok…No pressure at all. You thought,  just have to get it over the net and you’ll be fine.
You held your hand out with the ball you hit it as hard as you could with your other hand. Everything seemed to move into slow motion as the ball shot up into the air and slowly curved to hit Kiyoomi in the back of the head. You stood there frozen as he turned towards you, glaring.
His whole body shook as he walked past you back to his backpack, grabbing a can of Lysol and spraying his head.
“Sakusa- I’m sorry.” You tried. His stare was almost deafening.
“Kiyoomi, don’t.” Atsumu stared right back at him.
“Its fine. I’m the worst possible person you could’ve hit but its fine.”
“I’m really sorry.” You started to walk back towards the car.
“Y/N! Wait!” Atsumu called.
Atsumu and Hinata came running towards you. You really did it this time Y/N. Why did you have to be so stupid. Of course you had to hit the germaphobe. Dad even warned me about him. Dad’s never going to talk to me again.
Atsumu grabbed your arm, turning you around to face him. “Hey, it’s ok, no ones mad.”
Your eyes started to pool with tears, “Aren’t you mad? I messed up.”
Atsumu frowned, “Why would I be mad?” He bent down to your level. “Volleyball is a sport about learning, you cant be amazing from the beginning. Hell, like you said earlier, I couldn’t even serve until my 2nd year of high school. I promise Sakusa is not mad at you.”
“Yeah!” Hinata said. “On my first big game of high school I hit kagayama in the back of the head with a ball.”
“Kagayama? How are you not dead?”
“See? If he’s mad at you I will kick his ass for you.” Atsumu smiled.
“Thanks Dad.” You hugged him.
He held you close. “Anytime sweetheart.”
Everyone returned back to the game with no hard feelings. The games was 1-1 and the last set was end game. Y/N’s team was at match point. One more point and we win.
“Go Y/N! Its your turn to serve!”
You shakily took the ball into your hand and threw it up into the air. Maybe an overhand serve would work. Your hand hit the ball with impossible force and flew over the net. Natsu got it back up in the air and Shoyo spiked it. You got in front of the ball and saved it with your face and fell to the ground. The ball made it back over to the other side, winning the game.
“Oh my god Y/N are you ok?” Sakusa asked. He ran over and reluctantly laid a hand on your shoulder.
You held your nose as it dripped blood and smiled. “WE WON!!- ow..”
Atsumu laughed and took off his shirt and gave it to you. “Good job sweet heart.” He helped you up.
“Now you can say you’re a real volleyball player!” Bokuto smiled.
“Yeah! See Dad! I told you I could do it!”
“You did. I’m proud of you!”
“ICE CREAM ON ME EVERYONE!” You yelled.
“Where’d you get the money?” Atsumu asked.
“...ICE CREAM ON MY DAD!”
“HEY!”
Sorry if this was rushed! Like I said, this is my third rewrite of this because my computer crashed the first time... I hope you still like it though. If anyone has any other story ideas I will gladly write them.

Whisked Away
Pairing: Kagehina
Genre: Angst
Word count: 1.3k
_________
Hi! So this is my first one shot! I havent written in awhile so i know this is shitty icisif but yea i’m trying to get back into writing so hehe. Anyway i hope you all like it! Constructive criticism is very much welcome, thank you!
_________
Should I go in? Should I say “hello”?
An internal debate was going on Kageyama Tobio’s head as to whether or not he should enter the cafe and say a pleasant greeting to an all too familiar face.
Kageyama had just returned home to Miyagi for a short vacation, the team's coach and the captain thought it would be good for everyone to take a break and go back home since they had no games coming up, so Kageyama did just that.
He arrived in the prefecture a few days ago, and today he decided it would be best to re-familiarize himself, so he went on an afternoon walk. He saw all the newly opened stores and shops and thought how strange it was to see how much Miyagi has changed while he was gone. Although, he tries to come home whenever he can, returning to the prefecture always gave him whiplash with the number of new things that would greet him.
While he was walking the familiar yet unfamiliar streets. A ball of orange hair caught his eye. There he was, Hinata Shoyo, sitting quietly in a cafe, sipping on his hot beverage while scrolling through his phone.
Kageyama suddenly felt his heart stop and his blood go cold. What was he doing here? He wasn’t really expecting him to bump into any of his old friends this early on his vacation, let alone his ex-boyfriend.
Kageyama and Hinata started dating around the end of their first year of high school. The memories they shared weren’t all that sweet, as all relationships do, but that didn’t mean Kageyama cherished them any less. He loved every second he spent with Hinata, and he knows Hinata felt the same as well. Unfortunately, their love story was cut short after only three years. After high school, the two went on different volleyball teams, traveling to different countries, and becoming too busy for each other and to handle their relationship. Soon, the distance and the lack of time drove them apart. Kageyama knew that, so he did what he thought was best for both of them.
“I’m sorry, Shoyo, I love you, but we’ve become too busy for each other. I’m not able to be there for you, and you aren’t either.” Kageyama said solemnly.
“I know, I’m sorry,” Hinata replied with his head bowed, not wanting to show Kageyama his tear-filled eyes. He didn’t really protest to Kageyama’s statement. He knew their relationship was falling apart and what was happening was inevitable, but that didn’t make it hurt any less.
Kageyama cupped Hinata’s face and looked him in the eyes, “There’s nothing for you to be sorry for, this is just something we couldn’t control.”
Hinata simply nods as a reply as he was pulled into the black-haired boy’s warm embrace.
Kageyama kissed the top of Hinata’s head one last time and pulled away, “I have to go now. Goodbye Shoyo, I love you,” Kageyama walked away without turning back, without sparing Hinata another glace, for he knows if he saw that midget’s crying face he would just run back to him, tell him to forget everything that he just said.
Even after their break up the two remained in good terms and in occasional contact, only texting to greet one another a happy birthday or a happy holiday, and to congratulate them on their recent win they read about on the news or on social media. Hinata always seems to find his way into Kageyama’s late-night thoughts, always wondering how he was doing, if he was okay, if he was thinking of him too. He often wondered how things would be if he didn’t break up with his orange-haired lover; would they still actually be together, would they be happy, or would they still break up but on a later date?
Kageyama repeatedly told himself that it wasn’t healthy for him to keep thinking about him. He told himself that he should move on from that chapter of his life, to focus on his volleyball career, and to stop thinking about that could’ve been. He should just stop thinking about him. Despite all of his scolding, here he is now, two years after their break up, going inside the cafe and walking up to his ex-boyfriend.
“Oy, dumbass,” Kageyama said with absolutely no regard for the children inside the cafe.
Hinata turned around and was surprised to see Kageyama with his usual stoic expression, “Tobio! I didn’t know you were here, when did you arrive?” Hinata asked as he got up from his seat and approached Kageyama.
“Around three days ago, what about you?” Kageyama replied.
“A week ago,” Hinata said cheerfully.
At first, they just stood there talking about how long it’s been and about how Hinata was simply just waiting for someone to arrive, but then Hinata asked Kageyama if it was okay for him to sit with him and continue their conversation back at his table since Hinata noticed how their meeting was interrupting the peace of some of the cafe’s patrons.
After Kageyama ordered something to drink and returned to Hinata’s table. The two talked about Hinata’s time in Rio, and how he bought too much sunscreen and now he has no way of finishing it now. They also talked about how Kageyama was now a part of the Schweiden Adlers and what it was like teaming up with Ushijima and Hoshiumi. Hinata also mentioned that he joined the MSBY Black Jackals and how ecstatic he was about being in the same team with Atsumu, Sakusa, and especially, Bokuto.
They talked for what seemed like hours, in Kageyama’s head, and truthfully he didn’t want their little meeting to end. Everything felt so natural to him, it was like they were never even apart. Kageyama was really enjoying the time he was spending with Hinata, he feels as if he hasn’t felt this happy and at peace in a long time. And surely Hinata wouldn’t mind seeing Kageyama again, it’s not as if they ended badly anyway.
As Kageyama was about to ask Hinata out for lunch tomorrow, he was interrupted by a man who barged into the cafe panting and had a very disheveled look. He looking around very frantically as if he was looking for someone. His eyes scanning all over the café until they landed upon the place where Kageyama and Hinata were seated, and his eyes quickly lit up.
“Shoyo!” the man said in the sweetest tone as he ran towards the two. Hinata turned around to see where the source of the voice came from but was quickly met with a sweet kiss.
The man pulled away and brought Hinata in his warm embrace, “I’m sorry, I kept you waiting for so long, there was a problem at the last station and my phone died right as I was about to text you.”
Hinata chuckled at the man’s distressed tone and pulled away from his embrace, “It’s alright, babe, I had someone to keep me company”.The man raised his eyebrows curiously until Hinata pointed to Kageyama’s direction. He looked at the man his boyfriend was talking about and was met with a shocked Kageyama
“Oh! Tobio-kun! I didn’t know you were back,” He said in his usual cocky voice and flashed his signature smirk. He wrapped his arm around Hinata’s shoulders and continued, “Thank you so much for keeping my Shoyo company”.
Kageyama couldn’t bring himself to say anything. He was pretty sure he looked like a fish out of water with his mouth opening and closing, trying to come up with something to say. But no matter how much he raked his brain, he still couldn’t think of anything to say.
“Well, we’ll be going now Tobio-kun! See you around.” He took Hinata’s hand in his as the two lovers walked out of the cafe, leaving Kageyama alone in the table he and Hinata shared not too long ago, leaving him to watch the love of his life be whisked away by Atsumu Miya.

LAUNCHING MERRILY DOWN THE PATH OF SIN AGAIN
ao3 mirror pairing: atsumu/hinata rating: teens featuring: post-timeskip, side bokuaka, black jackals dynamics, sakusa suffering, author’s weird oral fixation
Hell yeah. Miya Atsumu is in love.
“Shit. I think I cut my gum.”
They’re having dinner together for some reason. Bokuto probably roped them all into it to stave off his boredom, but he offered to pay, so Sakusa went along with it, and because Sakusa went along with it, Hinata went along with it, and because Hinata went along with it, Atsumu went along with it. He suspects Hinata would’ve said yes from the start, but Sakusa started lecturing them on the perils of Korean BBQ restaurants, so Bokuto staved him off too with the cash thing. Sakusa is a practical person. Sometimes.
Anyway, Hinata winces as he says shit I think I cut my gum. Then he smiles like he’s really happy about it and Bokuto’s eyes go all round like volleyballs and he slams his hands on the table. Sakusa tells him not to put his hands on the table. Bokuto ignores him.
“Are you okay?” Bokuto asks.
“Yeah,” Hinata says, making a weird face while he feels around in his mouth with his tongue.
Atsumu tries to think of something intelligent to say and draws a blank. “Let me see,” he says instead. He’s sitting next to Hinata because Sakusa doesn’t trust Bokuto to share a grill with him. Bokuto is sitting next to Sakusa because he can’t share a grill with him but he wants to either try to get to know him better or piss him off. If nothing else he’s definitely succeeded at the latter.
“Huh?” Sakusa stares at Atsumu like he thinks he’s stupid, which he probably is. “The fuck are you trying to see?”
“The, uh,” Atsumu begins, but Hinata opens his mouth for him for some reason and he forgets to finish his sentence.
“I can taste blood on the right side of my mouth,” he offers.
“Uh,” Atsumu says again.
Bokuto stands up and leans over the table because Bokuto is immortal and will not be wounded by the likes of a Korean BBQ grill. “Do you need a flashlight? My phone has a flashlight.”
“Who the fuck doesn’t have a flashlight on their phone,” Sakusa says, staring at Bokuto like he thinks he’s stupid.
“Me,” Hinata offers. Hinata is using an iPhone model from the Stone Age.
“Stop talking and let me look at your gums,” Atsumu says, looking at his teeth. He has made a discovery: Hinata has very nice teeth. This aligns nicely with the other nice things he has noticed about Hinata’s face, like his eyebrows and the softness of his mouth. Hell yeah. Atsumu is in love.
“You’ve been looking at his gums for over a minute, Atsumu. Have you found anything.” Sakusa.
“Yeah,” Atsumu confirms. “There’s a cut.”
“Shit, where?”
“There.”
“Can you show me?”
“Oh, no.” Sakusa pushes his chair away from the table. “Atsumu. Don’t do it.”
Atsumu is really fucking confused. “What am I supposed to not do?” He’s still thinking about Hinata’s face. You have to get really close to someone to look inside their mouth. Close enough to kiss them. Is this what intimacy looks like?
“Are you gonna put your fingers in his mouth?” Bokuto, in a moment of clairvoyance, has caught onto the source of Sakusa’s terror. He sounds proud of himself.
“Are you?” Hinata looks at him innocently.
Atsumu puts his fingers in his mouth.
    ::
Sakusa Kiyoomi followed Inarizaki’s match against Karasuno in his second year of high school from a livestream on his phone because he wanted to minimize contact with the crowds in the gymnasium as much as possible. The match being an Inarizaki match, had attracted an especially large and diverse crowd of spectators. Nonetheless, they were united by the fact that they were all screaming. At first they were screaming because the Miya brothers were winning. Later they were screaming because the Miya brothers were losing. Then they finished losing, and Kiyoomi scoffed at them behind his mask while he wondered how Miya Atsumu was taking the fact that he had blown his first match at the Spring High.
Later he would recall the way Atsumu had looked at Karasuno’s orange-headed number ten. Kiyoomi, being the calm and logical person he is, would detect the complex twist of fascination and admiration that lay behind the twins’ duplicate of the freak quick. He might even begin to form a coherent thought about Atsumu’s motivation for executing such a shaky attack. This would involve a careful perusal of the few years of friendship between them and an evaluation of Atsumu’s taste in sports, men, and sportsmen. Then someone would cough in his direction from thirteen meters away, and he would get so mad at them he would forget all about it until he met the two of them again as teammates in the MSBY Black Jackals and Atsumu put his fingers in Hinata’s mouth.
    ::
“Dude you have to tell me why you did that,” Bokuto says. He’s leaning on Atsumu’s shoulder because he’s drunk and it’s a Friday. Bokuto only drinks on Fridays. This is a fact of life. If he could have it his way he would apparently drink on several days but Akaashi the shounen manga editor vows to wipe out seven generations of his family if he does. Therefore he abstains.
Atsumu wishes he would abstain from leaning on his shoulder. “I do?” he wonders aloud. He is drunk as well. Luckily Bokuto is more drunk so Bokuto cannot admonish him. Atsumu holds all the power in this situation.
“Yeah dude you were blushing like crazy.” Drunk Bokuto doesn’t use punctuation. It does not register on his list of things that exist in the universe. One time Atsumu made a bad life decision and crashed at his apartment; that night he overheard Bokuto talking to Akaashi the shounen manga editor on the phone, sounding like a bullet train with a caffeine addiction. Every once in a while Bokuto would fall silent. Then he would make an abrupt sound like a deflating balloon, presumably interrupting whatever Akaashi was saying, and there would be no more silence to be had for the next thirteen minutes. Atsumu felt very sorry for himself all night. He also felt very sorry for Akaashi, but less so since he had chosen to saddle himself permanently with Bokuto unlike the rest of them.
“Dude.” Drunk Bokuto says dude a lot.
“No,” Atsumu says.
They have almost reached the train station. Atsumu can see it blinking in the distance with its glowing signs and other artificial shit and he is so fucking glad for it. He manhandles Bokuto into the station and props him up against a pillar once they reach the platform. Bokuto’s coat is slipping off his shoulders. Atsumu pulls it back up.
“Do you think he was weirded out?” he asks later on the train. The soju he chugged after sticking his fingers in Hinata’s mouth is wearing off and primal fear is starting to set in. Suddenly he finds himself deeply regretting everything he has done since Hinata joined the Black Jackals. Spending so much time practicing that quick attack with him was a mistake. Buying him chocolate as a joke for Valentine’s Day was a mistake. Walking back to the train station alone with him after spending too much time practicing that quick attack, watching the way Hinata had laughed at his dumb jokes as they moved through the neon blur of the city was a mistake. Now he's in love and Sakusa's going to make fun of him. Sakusa has alien-like sensors installed in the back of his head which allow him to notice everything important in life before Atsumu does. Ah, Atsumu’s drowning in regret. He’s going to die.
“Nope,” Bokuto says cheerfully. “Hinata’s a good guy.”
Atsumu broods. “Good guys can be weirded out too, y’know.”
“Nah. He likes you.”
“What are you, psychic?”
“Hell yeah I’m psychic.”
    ::
Bokuto is not psychic. He’s just a fundamentally nice human being who gets an endorphin kick out of supporting every single person who comes within a hundred-meter-radius of him. Okay, Atsumu wants to say. Okay, so you want to support your teammates and your friends and shit. That’s great. But what if two of those teammates are At Odds with each other. What if you have to pick one.
Atsumu and Hinata are At Odds with each other. On the bright side, they’re both old enough to draw the line between work shit and personal shit so it doesn’t spill over into their professional lives. They are alarmingly civil during practice. The Black Jackals continue to get their ass handed to them by the Adlers. On the dark side, Hinata won’t so much as breathe in his direction off the court, which is pretty fucking miserable.
The best part is Atsumu doesn’t even realize he’s being ignored until Sakusa points it out to him. He’s spent the last week in denial and is actually growing kind of comfortable with this new lifestyle. He doesn’t have to deal with the fact that he has feelings for the guy who pissed him off in his second year of high school; he also doesn’t have to deal with the fact that he stuck his fingers in his mouth last Friday. Maybe Atsumu should just end his friendship with Hinata Shouyou. They can start over as business partners. Make a joint venture.
But of course, Sakusa points it out to him. “I know you think you’re being really fucking slick by ignoring Hinata all the time, but I must sadly inform you that he’s actually ignoring you as well,” he says, examining his nails absently. “Plus I think he’s trying harder at it.”
Sakusa smells like eighty-five different brands of shampoo. “I hate you,” Atsumu says.
“Your hatred means nothing to me,” Sakusa replies, unfazed.
    ::
The first time he and Hinata played together in an official match, Atsumu remembers thinking that he was glad he let Osamu set up his onigiri shop and pushed ahead with volleyball alone after all.
He figures he’ll always be a little bitter about how his high school volleyball career ended. It’s like how he still hates the everloving shit out of spicy food but has developed a tolerance for it due to his teammates’ dietary preferences. The sensation will never be pleasant, but he gets through it. He drinks a shit ton of water. After their meal he treats himself to dessert from a nearby convenience store and makes someone else pay for it out of spite. Sometimes they agree. Other times he winds up paying for his souffle cheesecake himself. But fuck it, whatever, it’s sweet.
The first time he and Hinata played together in an official match they unleashed their new freak quick in front of Kageyama Tobio and like half of Japan’s previous high school volleyball circuit. At the moment in which the ball he set went up in the air and Hinata made contact with it, Atsumu had the distinct sensation that the rules of the world had been quietly rewritten. It was akin to having a fully-grown deer ram its antlers into your chest, shattering your ribcage instantly. He couldn't hear himself anymore. Just the crowd.
Take that, he said with his eyes after Hinata scored that first sweet, sweet point, smiling at Kageyama like a switchblade. Hinata’s ours now.
Upon closer examination, what Atsumu actually meant to say was: he’s mine.
    ::
Why didn’t he say that, you ask? Because he’s a fucking idiot, of course. By this point Sakusa had already caught on to his feelings. If you had looked carefully at the background you would have noticed him squinting at Atsumu at various points throughout the match with three percent more intensity than usual. The rest of his attention was reserved for the ball, but he devoted three percent to Atsumu. This is Sakusa we’re talking about. Three percent is significant.
    ::
There is a boring romantic subplot in one of the manga that Akaashi’s magazine serializes. Unfortunately it’s about a boy and a girl, so it was probably destined to be boring from the start. But the brilliant thing about it is both the girl and the boy realize they have feelings for each other in chapter thirty and then proceed to make zero progress in their relationship for the next two hundred chapters.
“Why don’t they just get together?” he asked Akaashi once. They were having hotpot in Bokuto’s apartment. Because it was Bokuto’s apartment they got Akaashi as a freebie. Akaashi had brought wagyu beef.
“The author doesn’t feel like it.” Akaashi’s glasses kept getting fogged up by the steam. He looked like a character from a detective movie.
“Oh. Is the author single?” asked Atsumu, who was single.
“Yes,” said Akaashi, who was not single.
“Are you hitting on my boyfriend?” Bokuto called from the bathroom. They ignored him.
“Aha,” Atsumu said triumphantly. “I knew it. The author clearly has no experience. It pisses me off that they keep hinting at their feelings without getting to the point.”
“That is fair.” Akaashi had decided to take off his glasses at risk of stabbing someone in the face with his chopsticks.
“Alternatively, you could remove the romantic subplot altogether. I doubt much would change.”
Alternatively he could chase Hinata down after practice on the way to the train station. It would be snowing, because snow is pretty and makes everything look soft and cinematic. Atsumu would call out Hinata’s name as he approached him from two hundred meters away. He would be out of breath because everyone’s constantly out of breath in romantic cinema. Hinata would telepathically know that Atsumu was here to confess his undying love for him and hide his blushing face in his scarf.
Alternatively, they could have dinner together at a stuffy candle-lit restaurant. Only this isn’t a manga, and Akaashi isn’t the editor, so Hinata is still practicing serves in the gym when Atsumu appears in the doorway, still reeling at the realization that he’s been ignored for a week.
Well then. He scrolls through Instagram to pass the time.
    ::
When he’s done, Atsumu offers to help Hinata with clean-up. “Thank you,” says Hinata rather reluctantly, still not breathing in his direction.
“You know,” Atsumu says, feeling very tired. He’s too tired to beat around the bush. He has decided to eat the bush. “I can tell you’re ignoring me.”
Hinata creates distance under the guise of picking up loose balls. “Mm.”
“Why?”
Hinata squats down in front of a ball. Atsumu walks over and squats down beside him. The ceiling lights are fierce and bright above them, and Hinata’s face is tilted away from it. Atsumu can’t read his expression but he can see his ears, which are pink, and the side of his neck, which is pink as well. In this position, from this angle, Hinata’s musculature is even more stunning than usual; biceps, shoulders, back. This shouldn’t be a surprise given that they’re all adults now instead of petty high school kids with grudges as big as clenched fists. But if asked right now what the prototypical volleyball player should look like, Atsumu would point at Hinata and say: that guy.
“Sorry about sticking my fingers in your mouth,” he says quietly, folding his arms together over his knees and resting his chin on top. And then, in a flash of inspiration: “Also, I’m in love with you. I hope your cut healed properly?”
Hinata finally lifts his face up into the light, and Atsumu is reminded of watching the rising sun spill across the surface of the sea in a NatGeo documentary. For a second he looks absolutely lost. Then he knits his brow, stares hard at Atsumu like he’s trying to do calculus in his head or something.
“About the cut,” he says, hesitating. “Why don’t you find out for yourself.”
Atsumu chokes.
    ::
It’s not like he hasn’t been in love before. In high school he had a crush on Kita Shinsuke that was so debilitatingly bad, he never even told Osamu about it. But Kita Shinsuke didn’t have a debilitating crush on him and he never went pro. They didn’t wind up as teammates again several years later when Atsumu finally figured out how to style his hair properly with gel. Kita vanished off the radar after high school with that unnerving smile of his. They haven’t seen each other since.
Anyway, Atsumu has a lot of complicated feelings for Hinata. At first he was pissed at him for teleporting off to Brazil for two years, and thinking that he could still brute force his way into a Division One team immediately upon his return. Then Hinata actually did that, and Atsumu spent several weeks sulking about their new teammate by refusing to so much as breathe in his direction. Eventually Sakusa sat him down in the empty locker room one morning and looked him straight in the eye from two meters away and said you want to set for him don’t you. After thinking about it for a while he realized that Sakusa was right. He wanted to set for Hinata Shouyou. Back in high school the feeling had arisen mainly out of spite and childish frustration. Now it was genuine.
So fine, maybe he likes Hinata a little more than he should.
They’re not high schoolers anymore. They’re old enough to know where to draw the lines between work shit and personal shit and risk-taking and stupidity. They’re supposed to know themselves better by this point. Like what’s your favorite alcoholic drink. What’s your taste in men and sports and sportsmen. Do you believe in miracles.
Do you believe in—?
“—This,” Hinata says. Atsumu realizes belatedly that he had missed the first part of his sentence but before he can try to figure it out Hinata fists a hand in his shirt and yanks him forward.
Oh no, Atsumu thinks. Hinata’s smiling. All crooked like a semicircle of sun. All pretty-like.
“Since that’s out of the way,” he says brilliantly, warm breath fanning out over Atsumu’s cheeks, moving closer still. “I hope you don’t mind if I just—”
Atsumu closes his eyes and lets Hinata pull him in. He’s old enough to know where this leads.
    ::
They’re having dinner together again for some reason. Bokuto roped them all into it to stave off his boredom because Akaashi the shounen manga editor is in Hokkaido on a business trip, but he offered to pay, so Sakusa went along with it, and Sakusa went along with it, so Atsumu went along with it, and Atsumu went along with it, so Hinata went along with it. The truth is they almost always go along with Bokuto’s whims because Bokuto’s a fundamentally nice human being and Akaashi brings the fanciest ingredients to their hotpot parties. It doesn’t actually matter if Bokuto offers to pay. Someone will start the reluctant-yes-train and then the rest will join in and before they know it, they’re all ducking into the doorway of a restaurant together.
“So was anyone gonna tell me that two of my teammates are dating,” Bokuto says, waving his chopsticks around grandly while Sakusa attempts to shield his risotto from the onslaught of loose rice grains. “Or was I just supposed to find out from Omi-kun here?”
Hinata’s eyes go wide. Atsumu, who had been chewing on a fry, doubles over coughing.
“ATSUMU. ARE YOU OKAY.” Bokuto’s feet are on the table. Sakusa is seeing God.
“Shit.” Atsumu winces, feeling around in his mouth with his tongue. “I think I cut my gum.”
“Let me see.”
“Uh, Hinata, you don’t have to do that, actually—”
“Are you going to do that thing again?” God bless Bokuto and his endless store of curiosity towards all things chaotic and doomed in the world. God bless Sakusa who has ascended to the next dimension. God bless Atsumu's poor gums.
Hinata beams at Bokuto. “No,” he says slowly, bright as a bonfire. “I’m going to kiss him.”
God bless them all.

Not Scary To Me Pt.2
Character: Washio x single mom reader
*I would highly recommend reading Pt.1 if you want this to make any sense*
Pt.1-Pt.3
TW- mentions of toxic relationships and divorce, sad times for my mans Washio, mutual pining
Tumblr media
When you got there Komori and Suna were still tormenting Sakusa and Atsumu, Hinata had arrived and was talking with Meian and Tomas and Washio had started warming up with some of his other teammates. Bokuto had also arrived, something about his oven on fire? You spent the remainder of the hour getting paperwork and legal forms done, running back and forth between the main office and the gym.
When the match started you were finally at a point where you could do your work in one place, so you chose the gym. You loved watching the team play, for starters they were really good! And it brought back memories of when you used to watch Washio play. And he just so happened to be playing on the court right in front of your eyes. It brought back a lot of memories watching him play. While you were watching the game, you zoned out and went back to when the two of you were in your second year.
That game had been a particularly hard one. The whole team was struggling. Bokuto was long since in his emo mode, poor first year Akaashi was struggling to get him back up to speed and Washio was having an exceptionally hard time going against this third year spiker from another school. The game ended, and Fukurodani ended up losing…luckily it wasn’t an important game, really just a practice match, but it was the first game with the new starting line up so mistakes were bound to happen.
After the coaches gave their input/advice and the players were dismissed, Washio made his way into a secluded hallway and sat down at one of the benches. He was blaming himself, you knew he was as soon as the game ended. You quickly went up to Konoha, asking if he knew where he was. He didn’t know his friends exact location but he knew the general direction so you thanked him and went on your way.
When you finally found him he was bent over with his elbows resting on his knees and his head in his hands. Without saying anything you had knelt down in front of him, asking him to look at you. When he did, and you saw tears in his charcoal gray eyes it took every nerve in your body to will yourself from crying. And you weren’t even the one that lost! You were quick to pull him into a hug, your resolve almost cracking when you felt his arms weakly surround you before gripping onto you tightly.
That was the night you knew, you just knew you had fallen in love with him. But with everything going on with Ken, and school you pushed the thought aside. But now, years later watching him play again, you can feel those feelings resurface. Except now you have Emiko to think about…
”WATCH OUT!”
Your head shot up and you let out a squeak as you ducked, narrowly missing a ball that was headed straight for your face. Washio hurriedly made his way over to you, much to the satisfaction of his teammates. “Are you okay?” You shot him a smile as you fixed your hair and what not. “I’m alright, I got plenty of practice in high school.” You gave him a cheeky smile as he dead panned, a tint of pink traveling across his face. “I only hit you with one once.”
You laughed before you heard a ‘oops, my bad’ from who you remembered to be Suna, looking over you saw him and Komori were smirking at something. Shooting the two a glare Washio retrieved the ball and made his way over to the court, getting a nice slap on the back from Komori and a ‘nice’ from Suna. You couldn’t contain the dorky smile on your face, shaking your head as you got back to work. When it came time for a water break, the teams retreated to their respective sides of the gym.
“So, ya got the hots for their middle blocker huh?” You looked up from handing the team their water bottles to give Atsumu a glare. “Shut up Atsumu. We were friends in high school, we hadn’t seen each other till today.” Atsumu nodded, his mouth forming an ‘oh’. “But, you do still like him, right?” You stilled at that as you quickly looked to Bokuto, Hinata slapping a hand over his mouth. “Don’t say it out loud!” You see, during one of your outings with the boys, they had asked you about your past, Bokuto telling the story of you and Washio. Or rather the ‘almost love story’ as he called it.
Of course, none of them could be bothered to tell you he was on EJP. (They purposefully told Bokuto to come in late so he couldn’t spoil the secret. Hinata was in charge of him :0) Bokuto looked at you strangely before looking at Washio and back at you. “But if he feels the same way what’s the problem? Plus that jerk isn’t there anymore”. You crossed your arms over your chest and sighed, “It’s a little more complicated than that…” he continued to look confused until Sakusa smacked him upside the head.
“Don’t be so simpleminded. There’s a lot of things they both need to consider. Especially with Emiko involved.” Bokuto got it then, even if the situation still made him scratch his head sometimes. The game ended with MSBY winning 3-2, but both teams played well. “Tatsuki!” The middle blocker turned to see you walking over to him. He took one last drink of his water bottle and dried his face with his towel before turning to face you.
“Yeah?” she looked down before looking back to him, “Would you like to join Emiko and I for dinner? I just went to see her, and she was adamant ‘Mr. Washio’ came too. It’s okay if you can’t but..” He smiled and shook his head “I’d love to, just tell me when and where.” Your smile was almost blinding at this point, and to Washio it was a nice breath of fresh air. “Okay! I’ll text you the details~ I’ve gotta go, I’ll see you later?” Washio nodded his head. “See you, Y/n.”
With one last wave she walked out of the gym and headed towards her home, after picking up little Emiko of course. Washio went back to the locker room, showered and got changed into some casual clothes (during all of which he was choosing to ignore the smirks his two younger teammates were giving him.). *bzz bzz* he looked at his phone to see a text from an unsaved number.
Y/n: Hey Tatsuki! This is Y/n. Our address is xxx xxxx St. Go ahead and come around 5:30! Can’t wait to see you
He smiled at that last part, ‘can’t wait to see you either, Y/n.’
Tatsuki: I’ll be there, I’m looking forward to it :)
It was 5:13 so he exited the stadium (after telling off his nosey juniors) and made his way to the address you had sent him. You however, were not as calm. Currently you were running around the kitchen, mixing and chopping things left and right. You looked at the time ‘5:13, okay, it’s fine, this is all fine! I have time…’ You set the timer on the oven and rushed upstairs, checking in on Emiko to make sure she was fine, and taking a quick shower. Now for the hard part…what to wear.
On one hand you were home and didn’t really want to, or need to but on the other hand the man you’ve been in love with for a good 8 years was coming to your house for dinner so…a nice sweater and overpriced leggings it is. ‘okay…it’s 5:24 so he’ll probably-‘ Your thoughts were cut short when you heard knocking at the front door. Quickly focusing your thoughts, you rushed downstairs before checking the peephole
**ALWAYS CHECK THE PEEPHOLE/WINDOW BEFORE YOU EVER OPEN A DOOR IT IS WORTH IT. USE A DOOR CHAIN OR SOMETHING TOO IT IS WORTH THE EXTRA FEW SECONDS!!***
and opening the door when you saw it was him. “Tatsuki! Come in!” he thanked you and walked in, removing his shoes as you led him inside. “Emiko! Mr. Washio’s here!” Looking up the stairs you heard little footsteps before you saw a small head pop out from her play room. She then made her way down the stairs and over to Washio, giving his leg a little hug before she sat down on the rug in the living room. “Dinners almost ready, you can have a seat in the living room if you want.”
He nodded, “Do you need help with anything, don’t say no if you do I don’t mind.” You just smiled, you never could stop him from helping you. “Well, if you insist I could use some help.” The two of you moved into the kitchen, you pulling dinner out of the oven and him, with your direction of course, getting out the plates and such. “Hey Tatsuki?” he turned to look at you, “Yes?” “Could you help me get this bowl? I can’t reach it.” He just nodded before he reached up and grabbed it, unintentionally flexing his muscles which were nicely defined by the navy blue button down he was wearing.
Averting your gaze and releasing a small ‘thank you’ you quickly resumed your previous task hoping he wouldn’t catch onto your embarrassment. “Emiko, dinner’s ready” The little girl happily made her way to the table, lifting her arms to be set in her booster seat. Setting the plates and dinner onto the table, you sat across from Emiko while Washio took the seat at the head of the table. ‘Just like a family…’
You quickly shook your head and tried to push the thought out of your head. But as the dinner went on, it kept feeling more and more normal, more and more domestic. And you were feeling…really really happy. Fulfilled. As soon as she finished her dinner, Emiko lifted her arms, her usual signal to be let out of her chair. But instead of turning to you like she usually would, she looked at Washio. “Up!” you looked at her, “Oops, up, please!” She gave him the cutest smile as her little arms reached above her head. Washio thought his soul was going to leave his body.
Breaking himself free of his thoughts he nodded his head as he stood up, helped the little girl down from her chair and almost cried when she hugged his leg and said “Thanks Washio!” Before you could even scold her for being informal, you saw the look of pure joy on his face when he sat down. “Y’know…you must be really special if she asked you to do that, and if she hugged you.” Washio looked over to you with a confused expression, “What do you mean?” You sighed as you placed your elbow on the table and your face on your palm, eyes drifting to where your little Emiko was playing with Bunny.
“She’s usually painfully shy, I’m lucky to get her to talk to anyone other than family, let alone kids her age.” You then turned your gaze to look at him instead, his dark eyes moving to meet yours. “It means a lot if you two just met and she’s already infatuated with you. It means a lot to me too…” The rest of the evening was spent by the two of you catching up on what’s been going on in your lives for the past 5 years. It was about eight now, Washio didn’t have a specific time he needed to go since they were allowed to head back to Hiroshima whenever since today was Thursday and he didn’t have to work tomorrow.
(Suna and Komori convinced the coach to give them the next day off, they gotta help their mans Washio!!) And since the two of you were having so much fun, he figured he could stand to stay a bit longer. “I’m gonna put Emiko to bed, I should be down in about 15 minutes.” You told him as you picked up the sleepy toddler. “Say goodnight, Emiko.” The little girl sleepily smiled at him before lightly waving “Goodnight Washio” before she returned her head to her mother’s shoulder.
You got her changed into her PJ’s, read her a story, and got her tucked in when “Mommy?” You paused from turning off her light, “Yes honey?” she seemed to squirm a bit. “Will I get to see Washio again? I heard you say he lived far a way…” You gave her a smile, “Yes baby, you’ll see him again.” Your daughter than put on a sleepy little smile and closed her eyes, “That’s good…night mommy.” You turned off her light and cracked the door shut, you left it open so your cat, Kitty, could get in if he so pleased and cuddle with her. “Goodnight Emiko, I love you.” You heard a drowsy, ‘love you too’ before you left to go back downstairs.
When you came back down to the living room, you saw Washio hang up on a phone call. “Sorry I should have made sure before hand, but, do you have a ride home? It’s getting late..” he looked at you and you could have sworn he looked flustered but you let it go. He sighed before explaining the call was from his teammates, letting him know they were leaving him and to come home whenever since they had the weekend off. “Well, do you want to stay here? We have a spare bedroom and my brother left some clothes here…” He opened his mouth, probably to refuse but before he could you cut him off, “It’s no problem, really! I took the day tomorrow to spend with Emiko and I know she’d love it if you came along so, really it’s no problem.”
You gave him ‘the look’, which just so happened to be the same ‘look’ you gave him in high school when you wanted something, knowing he couldn’t say no. “Thank you…tonight’s been really nice.” You couldn’t help the flutter his words put in your heart, choosing to channel them into a shy smile. “Me too…” Not wanting this to turn into an awkward silence you clapped your hands together. “Alright. Since you’re going to stay here, you can help me with the dishes.” Chuckling a bit he nodded his head, unbuttoning the cuffs of his shirt and rolling the dark blue sleeves up to his elbows. (Tell me I’m not the only one who just diEd)
The two of you made your way to the kitchen sink. Being a middle blocker he was keen and observant, and having dealt with Bokuto’s mood swings, he was also keen and observant of people and their reactions. To be clear; he was very much aware of the way you couldn’t stop looking at his arms, it had been intentional after all. After knowing him for so long and seeing the mischievous glint in his eye and the small smile he had stuck to his face, you caught on that he was probably teasing you. ‘Two can play at that game.’
You inwardly smirked as you took off your sweater, revealing the tank top you had been wearing underneath (idk if you wear tank tops under your stuff bUT THIS AIN’T THAT TYPE OF STORY So you did). Turning around you lightly laughed when you saw how pink his face had gotten. “I didn’t know this was a competition” His face held a playful smirk as he joined you at the sink. Your expression matched his as you started washing and he dried. “It wasn’t until I won~”
He shook his head but couldn’t shake the smile that had formed a permanent residence on his face since he had re-connected with you. After the dishes were done, with only a *little* splashing each other with the water, you two retired to the couch and continued your chat. It was about 10 when you decided it was a good idea to get to bed him, having played an intense game earlier in the day, agreed. You gave him some sweatpants and a shirt to wear, which were a bit snug since he was quite a bit bigger than your older brother, but he accepted them gratefully.
After making sure everything was in order you shut off all the lights and showed him to the guest bedroom. “Goodnight Tatsuki and thank you for visiting…it’s been really nice. I hope we get to do it more often.” You said this as you gave him a hug, one he of course returned. “Thank you for having me…it means a lot…Goodnight Y/n” You nodded as you both separated, you giving him a small wave as you retreated into your bedroom shutting the door and turning off your light before getting into bed.
