Ino doesn’t seem to understand what exactly you mean by that and his brows furrow, “You caught my attention, and yet this is my first time talking to you.” He points out.
Almost naturally, as if you’d grown accustomed to flirting, your gaze trails back over to the cute bartender and you smirk, words slipping out of your mouth without thought, “I’ve caught your attention? How so?” You ask, unintentionally adding a sultriness to your tone.
He gulps and his eyes avoid yours yet again, “I mean you are an attractive woman. S-So I just mean it in that you catch more people’s eye than you think. A-And uh, y’know, not everyone’s gonna approach you first because sometimes attractive people make others nervous…” He stammers out.
He’s so ridiculously nervous and it’s the cutest thing. You lift your head from your hand and cross your arms over the counter, leaning forward a little and your chest unknowingly growing more visible as you do so, “Am I making you nervous right now, Ino?” You whisper.
Okay, now you’re purposefully teasing him.
He chuckles, kinda awkwardly, “N-No? Pfft… I’m not nervous. Y-You-,” He clears his throat, “You’re not making me nervous.”
You raise but a single brow and keep your gaze on him, “You can’t even look me in the eyes while we talk.”
Ino suddenly looks at you, meeting your unwavering gaze and sweating a bit. “I’m lookin’ at you now.”
You stare long and hard, right into those brow irises of his and he tries to stare back but, he can’t help but glance to the left or right for a split second before trying to keep his eyes on yours.
A slow and taunting smile spreads across your features, “Barely.” You point out.
He rolls his eyes and sighs, “Whatever. I wasn’t nervous I’m jus’ not good with eye contact.”
You tilt your head at him and narrow your eyes, “That’s not true.”
“Eh?” Ino’s brows push together, “How are you gonna’ tell me…” He says with a pout.
You giggle, “You manage eye contact with everyone else just fine.”
He moves for a nearby empty glass someone’s placed down, and glances at you as he does so, “So you’ve been paying attention to me, then?”
Of course, your eyes have hardly left his. It’s fun teasing someone like this, “A bit, yeah.”
Ino moves with the empty glass to place it with other dirty ones, humming a little nervously, “Oh…” As he does so. Then, you watch him pick up a clean glass and move to make a new drink right in front of you.
“Is that okay?” You murmur. Your voice has this purposeful flirtiness to it and it does not go unnoticed, “Am I allowed to pay attention to you, Ino?”
He gulps, “Course’ you can.”
Your eyes drop to the glass in his hands as he pours alcohol into it and you smirk, “Ino…”
His gaze flicks to your face for a moment, “H-Hm?”
“You’re shaking.” You point out.
Ino nearly fumbles the glass in his hand entirely and you watch him miss the cup for a moment, a bit of the liquid he’d been pouring trickling onto his hand and then the floor, “Shit,” He curses.
You chuckle slightly at first, earning a little pouty glare from the man.
Then as he goes to clean up you hear him mumbling to you, “That’s not funny…”
Your chuckling proceeds to elevate into genuine laughter, “Yeah it is,” You snicker, “You’re adorable, holy fuck.”
Ino’s face is a little red as your words hit his ears and he drops down to clean the mess on the floor. After which, he pops right back into your line of vision, seeing you still laughing at him and pouting yet again.
“I am not ‘adorable’,” Ino grumbles.
You giggle, “Yes, you are.”
He shakes his head and sighs in this sassy kinda way, “Am’ not.”
“Are too,” You argue.
His eyes meet yours and despite being embarrassed, he’s got a little smile back on his face, “Nuh-uh.”
You nod, “Yuh-huh.”
Ino then rolls his eyes, still smiling, before he puts all the items he had in his hands down to the side. You then watch one hand drop down into his pocket before his phone is pulled out. Ino unlocks the device and then places it in front of you, sliding it closer to you with an empty contact slot on the screen.
“Put your number in here,” He sighs, smoothly requesting your contact info like it’s nothing.
You raise a brow, “Are you asking for it or are you demanding it?”
Those almost innocent brown eyes of his trail over to yours and he holds eye contact for a longer moment, “I’m asking. I like talking to you so, can I get your number?”
“Hmmm…” You hum playfully, purposefully taking your time to answer, “Is this to be friends or something more?”
He’s still looking you in the eyes, “Uh, friends? I’m not sure I could even handle a woman like you.”
You raise a brow, “Wanna’ find out?”
He blinks and then gulps, “F-Find out how?”
“I think you know how…” You say suggestively.
This look flashes in Ino’s eyes and he finally picks up on your hints, “I… I have a break in twenty minutes…”
“Twenty minutes?” You repeat, leaning forward a little. His gaze flicks down to your chest for hardly even a second, “Are you really gonna’ make me wait that long?”
He swallows and then forces his gaze back up to yours, “I mean, w-we can’t do anything right now…”
“Fair point.” You shrug.
“But,” Ino adds on, “Just so that we’re on the same page here…. During my break, we are gonna…” He sends you a look but doesn’t finish his statement.
Your lips curve into a smirk, “Gonna what?”
“You know…” He hints, clearly too shy to just say it.
“Mmmh, no. I don’t know. What’re we gonna do, Ino?”
The man sighs and then gets closer to the bar, placing his hands on it and leaning toward you to whisper, “Fuck.” He says, his voice barely audible.
His closeness gives you the opportunity to raise your hand to his shirt and carefully tug him even closer, leaning to his ear, “Say that again f’me,” You murmur seductively, “I couldn’t hear you.”
Ino’s heartbeat is all over the damn place and he swallows really hard, “We… We’re gonna’ fuck, r-right?”
You release his shirt and carefully move your hand to his jaw, slowly turning his head to face you. Ino’s breath hitches as your lips nearly touch his.
“Are we?” You murmur, your breath hitting his skin and making him so ridiculously nervous.
He nods, “Uh-huh….” Ino mumbles, too stunned to form words just yet.
You pout a little, mocking his nervousness, “Use your words, Ino…”
His cock twitches within the confines of his boxers and he nearly chokes on the air that’s hardly making it to his lungs, “Y-Yeah, yes ma’am.”
You bite your lip and then release his face, “Good boy.”
His eyes widen and just like that, his dick is stiffening beneath his clothes. A shaky breath of air leaves his lips as he backs away and tries to collect himself.
Ino’s face was red and you saw how awkwardly he was moving around the bar, going to collect other empty glasses as your words and actions replayed in his mind.
A few minutes later, his back was to you and he wiped down a farther part of the counter, still trying to pull himself together. His slightly veiny hands were clammy as he completed his task, showing just how nervous you’d made him.
When the male turns back around, he sees that you’ve gotten up and he watches your hips sway as you make your way toward the restroom. For a moment, you turn your head back and look at Ino, winking at him and again making him flustered.
He was so ready for his break to come after that, moving to make sure everything was okay before the time came. The male doesn’t even typically go on his break since he enjoys his job but, he is allowed an hour off, one in which another bartender would take his place for the time being.
As soon as twenty minutes had passed and it was time for his break, he was rushing from behind the counter and through the building, toward the bathrooms. He’d seen this exact scenario play out plenty of times with other people but as for himself, he’d only done this once before and that was with an old girlfriend of his.
His blood was rushing and racing through his veins, cock leaking at the thought of you, your voice, and the sexy look in your eyes, and he was outside the bathroom before he realized it. Ino knocked on the door with a slightly shaky hand, hearing your voice from behind it prompting his entry.
He opened the door carefully, trying to collect his thoughts as he did so, and was soon met with the sight of you. As Ino pushed the door closed behind him and locked it, his eyes were all over the way you were leaning forward against the counter, looking at yourself in the mirror.
There was this arch in your back and the curve of your ass was so damn enticing that he could feel his entire body getting dizzy with arousal. He needed to return to his normal state, y’know, like how he was earlier when he flirted with you subtly. Yeah, that’s all he needed to do-
“Just gonna stand there and stare?” Your voice hit his ears so suddenly, pulling him from his panicked mind.
Clearing his throat, Ino took a deep breath and walked over to you. He was behind you and you found it kinda’ cute how he tries to take control, placing a hand on the counter beside your waist, his arm making light contact with you as he does so, and then placing another hand on your lower back gently.
“Sorry,” Ino hums, his voice is slightly deeper. “I didn’t make you wait too long, did I?” He murmurs, his voice close to your ear.
You chuckle and relax your body a bit, purposefully pushing your ass back against the man, “No, it wasn’t too long.”
Ino grunts softly and you watch him in the mirror as he looks down at the way you’re pushing back on him. After that, he doesn’t even try to look up. Your ass was rubbing back against him so nicely, the bulge in his pants felt even through his baggy clothing.
You let out a sigh, “Ino… you’re hard already?” You point out teasingly.
He swallows and nods in a needy manner, “M-Mhm… Shit…” The man curses, moving his hands to ghost your hips, “Can I… is it okay if I touch you here?” He requests.
The sound of consent has never been sexier, his question alone making you lean your torso forward and then hold yourself up on your elbows, arching your back even more before humming a simple, “Mhm.”
Ino releases a breath of air he didn’t know he was holding in and you feel his slim fingers press into your hips as he bites his lip watching you grind back against him. “Fuck…” He sighs, the sound shaky with arousal.
You hold in a smile as you continue, watching his cute face twist up in the mirror as you continue your ministrations. At some point, his lips part and you watch his brows twist up as he tries to grind into you.
The teasing of the situation was so damn hot. You liked seeing how flustered and needy Ino was for you, noticing how his eyes just couldn’t leave the way your ass looked pressed up against his dick print.
“I’m… hah… I’m gonna’ push this up,” Ino tells you, referring to the end of your dress, “S’that okay?”
“Yeah, that’s fine,” You say in a soft tone.
He liked how light your voice was, how clearly aroused you were based on your tone alone. It drove him crazy.
Ino moved his hand to the fabric of your dress, tugging the item up and revealing the full curve of your ass. The slight whine that leaves his pretty lips turns you on more than you already were, watching the way he gulps as he peers down at the sexy lace that’s between him and your sex.
Before he could do more, you were pushing your hips back again, feeling his hard cock poking through his clothing and rubbing up against you. The sensation made you so damn wet.
Ino chuckles nervously, “Damn… I… m’so fuckin’ hard… fuck…” He mumbles.
You smile briefly before moving into this slutty arch for the man, his eyes widening as he gulps loudly. Ino then watches you part your legs a bit more and he stifled a moan as he unconsciously humps into you.
“Ino,” You whisper, “Are you gonna cum from this?”
His face is red and his eyes won’t leave the way your ass just ruts back into him, his hands on your hips growing tighter as he humps his erection into you. Nodding, Ino’s jaw drops a little, “Uh-huh…”
You bite your lip and sensually wiggle your hips, “Really?”
“I… Hold on, I c-can…” He moves a bit, unzipping his pants and letting them fall as he’s left in his briefs. Ino looks up to your face in the mirror, “Can I… uhm…”
“Get it out…” You whisper teasingly.
He looks down, avoiding your eyes, “Can I rub my cock against you?” Ino asks, his voice small and hardly even audible.
You chuckle at how shy he is to say such lewd words, reaching a hand back and pulling your panties to the side, revealing your wet state to the man’s eyes. “Beg for it,” You say.
Cum dribbles out the tip of his dick, making the inside of his boxers slightly sticky and wet, “B-Beg?”
“Mhm, if you want to feel me then be a good boy and beg,” You instruct.
Ino steadily works his leaky member out and swallows hard, “P-Please? Look h-how hard I am for you…”
You smile, “Keep going…”
“Hah…” Ino breathes, moving his hand over his tip as he stares at your sex, he’s so close to you he can almost feel it, “Please? Please? F-Fuck, I… m’so f-fucking… mmgh… please?” He whines.
You bite your lip and slowly push your hips back, his hand moving to the base of his cock as he then feels your wet folds part around the tip of his cock. Ino moans at the feeling, the sound whiney and furthering your arousal.
“T-Thank you, a-ah…” He whines, “S-Shit…”
The man then tries to focus himself back on what he’s doing and he rubs his tip in between your folds, the teasing feeling working you up more than ever. You wanted him inside you just as bad. Ino then pushes forward a little but not inside of you, he moves so that your cunt slicks against his shaft, the feeling making his eyes flicker.
“S-So wet-,” He chokes out, simply running his cock against your entrance and feeling you soak up his length.
You try your best to keep a moan in, “Ino… put it in…”
He looks at your reflection, seeing how flush your face is and feeling dick twitch at the sight. “Y-Yes ma’am…”
The man then repositions himself slightly and you begin to feel him ease his way inside you, his size bigger than you anticipated it to be and making your eyes flicker.
Your head drops a little as you let out a shaky breath, “Oh fuck…”
“A-Are you okay?” Ino murmurs, almost as if his cock isn’t stretching you open ever so slightly, “S-Should I-”
“Keep goin’,” You breathe out.
He nods and continues to ease his cock into your tight hole, feelings your warm and moist walls clamp around his shaft before he unconsciously snaps his hips forward.
Your jaw drops a bit, “F-Fuck-,” You moan, feeling Ino shift his hand to the arch of your back as he leans forward a bit.
Ino was just shy a few seconds ago, and he still is but, for someone so timid– his dick is bigger than you were expecting. His size wasn’t anything crazy compared to your… other experiences, but it was definitely more than you were expecting.
One of your hands goes back as you move to grip onto the edge of the counter to balance yourself. Ino again takes you by surprise and his hand suddenly goes to your arm that just went back, grabbing ahold of it and moving to pin it down against the counter.
Another moan slips past your lips as his entire demeanor changes a bit– Ino’s got one hand pressed into your arch and the other is pinning your arm down as he draws his hips back and snaps them forward moments later, working up a rushed and eager pace.
“Fuckk,” Ino moans from behind you, “You feel s’good,” He mumbles, “So. F-Fuckin’. Good.” Each word is emphasized with a harsh thrust of his cock, his tip grazing a spot inside you that makes your eyes flicker.
Your jaw drops a little, “H-Hahhh… r-right there,” You whine in desperation.
“Yeah?” Ino coos, brows twisting up in pleasure as he adjusts himself for you, “Right there, huh?”
Your cunt squeezes around his cock and he moans filthily into the air, the desperate sound bouncing off of the bathroom walls. Then he tries to focus on you and your pleasure, continuing that angled thrust of his as he looks up and at the mirror in front of you two.
The expression on your face was everything to the man— he’d never be able to forget such a thing. Your eyes would flicker every time his cock slid into you and a sexy moan would pour out of your mouth with each of his thrusts. That, along with the occasional whine of his name, made Ino so very dizzy.
Your pussy sucked him in like a goddamn vice, forcing him in deeper every time he’d pull out. His hips wouldn’t stop at some point and he doesn’t even think his thoughts were coherent anymore. So fucked out, Ino’s jaw just drops at some point and he starts groaning and moaning into the air without holding back.
His sounds were so arousing too, each noise going straight to your core and leading you to start pushing your hips back to meet his thrusts. After which he leans back just a little and looks down at the sight, tugging his shirt up to his mouth and holding it in between his teeth as he watches his cock disappear inside you.
Your ass bounced back against his pelvis and made his brows twist up again, his hand moving almost on instinct just to smack your ass, grinning slightly to himself at the recoil that follows.
Huffing, his shirt falls out of his mouth and he’s got this little smile on his face, “God damn,” Ino groans out behind you, his hips picking up in rhythm to match the way your own fucked back against him.
The heavy clash of his pelvis into your ass could’ve been heard by anyone outside the bathroom door but the two of you were all too caught up in what you were doing to care. Ino moves to hold his shirt up with one hand and the other goes to the counter as he leans forward a bit.
His eyes won’t leave the sight below, completely dazed by your movements and how well they matched his— then there was the constant tug of his cock deeper into you that left him panting.
When he does eventually flick his gaze up to the mirror again, your face catches his attention once more and he leans even closer, cock drilling deep into your walls as his lips near your ear.
“You’re so fuckin’ pretty like this,” He suddenly compliments and god it makes your stomach churn. Since when was his voice so smooth? Where the hell did he gain this sudden confidence from-, “Look at’cha… y’sound so cute moaning my name like that,” Ino whispers to you before there’s a sudden arm wrapping around you and a hand grabbing a hold of your face.
He forces you to look at the mirror ahead and you catch sight of how intently he’s looking at you, watching sweat drip down from his forehead and to his jawline, his eyes low and locked on the side of your face. Then his jaw drops a little and Ino moans right into your ear.
You let off a sweet little whine and your eyes roll back a bit as he starts shifting your head to turn to face him. The angle was almost awkward at first but the second you meet his eyes and tune in to the heavy breaths leaving his moist lips— you quickly lose all sense of thought.
“Shit,” Ino hums, “You’re so hot,” He babbles out, hips bucking into you wildly as he pays close attention to how your face twists up in pleasure, “Can… fuck-, can I kiss you?”
All fucked-out and dazed, you flash a little smile and nod. Then his lips are pressing into yours and both of you are whining into each other’s mouths. Ino’s lips were so wet and slippery against yours as he began to pull your body up with his to stand slightly.
Then he’s moving his free hand around you and dropping it down to your clit, fingers swatting at the sensitive bud with ease. You let out a whimper against him and he pulls away with a slim string of saliva hanging in between your lips.
Ino’s eyes are down on your mouth and his brows are tense, “C’mon, cum f’me, pretty.” He whispers, “I got you…”
Yeah, yup, you were cumming. Who the hell told him to be so gentle with you all of a sudden? And again, where did he get this confidence from?
Oh who cares, you can’t really ponder on all of that for too long as your legs tense up and your body squirms in his hold, those pretty brown eyes of his never once leaving yours. He watches as you come undone, his heavy pants hitting your face every now and then as your orgasm helps him to reach his own.
And you felt it coming too, his cock twitching inside you while his thrusts grew sloppy and his pants turned into quiet whispers and whines of your name. A slight chant of you feel s’good leaves his lips as he grows closer and closer before you see his eyes roll all the way back and he quickly pulls out of you.
Then he moans into the air and you allow yourself to bend over the counter again, his hand moving to his cock as he takes that as an opportunity to cum on your ass. It was messy but you didn’t care and Ino seemed to be in heaven as he did so.
When he finds himself done, you and he both take a minute or two to catch your breaths before you both move to clean up. Ino’s quick to help you clean yourself before worrying about himself, wiping his mess off of you and even asking if you were okay a few times.
Part of you wanted to address that little switch-up of his and how he went from begging you to put his cock inside you to telling you how pretty you are while taking it… But, ultimately, you don’t say anything about it and just smile to yourself.
Ino soon notices the little grin on your face and he tilts his head at you, “I take it I… did a good job?”
Your brows lift and your eyes light up a little, “Yeah, you did a good job.”
“Really?” He hums, swallowing hard as his face heats up at your praise. Then his eyes darted elsewhere, “I’m glad.”
“Mhm,” You hum before shifting your dress around a little and leaning toward him, “We could do this again after you get off of work if you want…”
His head quickly turns to you, “We can?”
“Yes, Ino, we can,” You say softly.
He nods and starts to turn away from you but you don’t miss how he does a quiet little yes! motion with his arm, smiling to himself as if he’d just won some kinda prize. That makes you giggle as you walk behind him and toward the door to leave.
You can indulge yourself in this cute bartender a bit more with no problems, right?

ino takuma x female reader; 18+ content, minors or blank blogs do not interact. established relationship. takuma who yaps your pussy off aka dirty talk, pussy eatin'. pussy drunk takuma, part of my #needthat drabble(s) — masterlist here ☆
your boyfriend ino is a certified yapper, and that’s always been part of his charm. the way he can ramble on about anything under the sun, his excitement bubbling over as he talks your ear off, is something you find endearing. but sometimes… you want him to put that big mouth of his to different use.
like, for example, between your legs.
so when you sneakily suggested he could eat you out, he nearly lost his mind with excitement. he was practically vibrating with eagerness to get his lips on you, all too eager to finally taste you. and at first, it seemed like he was going to be laser-focused on the task at hand. but then, true to his nature, he started talking. again.
“oh, fuck, babe — you smell so good,” he groaned as he spread your thighs wider, his breath warm against your slick folds. “like, seriously, i could just — god, i could just bury myself here forever.” his lips brushed your clit as he spoke, and the vibration from his words sent a shiver up your spine.
“t-taku —” you whimpered, already overwhelmed by how much he was talking against you. but he just chuckled, completely unaware that his chatter was both driving you crazy and turning you on even more.
“what? i’m just sayin’, baby,” he mumbled, pressing a kiss to your inner thigh before licking a broad stripe up your cunt. “you’re so fuckin’ perfect down here. like, what did i do to deserve this, huh?” his tongue flicked against your clit, and your hips jerked in response, grinding against his face.
“yeah, you like that, don’t you?” he muttered, his voice muffled against your slick skin. “bet you love it when i’m down here, don’t you, baby? love it when i talk to you like this? you’re so fuckin’ sensitive, look at you.”
you couldn’t even form a coherent response as his tongue circled your clit, his constant hums and words buzzing through your core. “god, you taste so fucking good,” he groaned again, his lips pressed against your swollen nub, sending another wave of heat through you.
“taku — please —” you gasped, your fingers gripping his hair, but he just laughed softly, clearly enjoying the way you reacted to him.
“please what, baby?” he teased, his fingers digging into your hips to keep you still. “you want me to shut up, huh? want me to stop talking and just focus on this sweet little pussy?” he chuckled again, his breath hot against you as his lips brushed over your folds. “sorry, babe. can’t help it. i mean, look at you.”
he pressed his mouth to your clit again, sucking gently, and you let out a choked moan, your back arching off the bed. “you’re so pretty like this,” he murmured, his voice rumbling against you. “so wet, so ready for me. i could talk to you like this all day, ya know? just tell you how fukin’ good you are, how perfect you taste.”
his words were sending you spiraling, every sentence punctuated with another flick of his tongue, and you could feel the heat building in your core. your hips bucked against his mouth, but he just grinned against you, his fingers tightening their grip on your thighs to hold you down.
“oh, you’re close, aren’t you?” he teased, his breath tickling your sensitive skin. “can feel ya, baby. you’re trembling. ya gonna cum for me, aren’t you?” his lips brushed your clit again, and the way he kept talking, the way his voice thrummed against you, was making your head spin.
“fuck, taku —” you gasped, your body trembling as he hummed in response, the vibrations making your legs shake.
“yeah, that’s it, babe,” he muttered, his voice low and rough. “just give it to me. fuck, i could stay here forever, ya know? just keep talkin’ to you, keep eating you out, keep making you cum on my tongue.”
you were on the verge of losing it, your body so close to the edge, and every word, every hum, every flick of his tongue was pushing you further and further until —
“c’mon, baby, cum for me,” he murmured, his voice sending one last vibration through your core. “wanna feel it. wanna hear you scream f’me.”
and just like that, you shattered, your body arching off the bed as you cried out, your fingers tangling in his hair as you rode out your orgasm against his eager mouth. your mind went blank, nothing but the overwhelming pleasure coursing through you as he continued to hum and mutter against your slick folds.
even as you came down, your legs still trembling, ino didn’t stop. he pressed soft kisses to your sensitive skin, his lips brushing over your thighs as he kept talking. “see? told you i’d take care of you,” he mumbled, grinning up at you from between your legs. “you love it when i talk to you, don’t you? you can’t get enough.”
you let out a breathless laugh, still reeling from the intensity of it all. “you never stop talking, do you?” you managed to say, your voice shaky.
he just chuckled, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. “nope. and you love it.” #needthat

she misses me | ino takuma
tags: mdni, nsfw drabble, fem reader, phone sex, smut, not pet play but he calls her “puppy,” not beta read, boyfriend!ino!
Nanami groaned into his whisky. He had a feeling that this was a bad idea six months ago. Ino was all bright eyed as he gushed about the pretty girl he’d met at the mall.
But Nanami was weary, and wondered if things would work out, even after Ino told you about his real job.
Ino sighed before he took a large gulp of his beer, “She’s just…worried I’m cheating on her,” he said, delicately.
“Don’t worry. We check out in the morning and then we’ll be back in Tokyo by noon. You told her we were here on a mission, right?”
“Yeah,” he wistfully gazed out to the town they were in. He was missing you, a lot. He’d been out in the countryside with Nanami for five days and had barely had the chance to text you. He hadn’t been away from you for this long before, but he was admittedly nervous by how much it was unsettling him. It was scary.
“I like girls who are a little clingy though, you know? She’s not even overbearing either,” his voice trailed away. “it’s just that I’ve not been able to text her much. So she misses me.”
“I suppose that’s normal then.”
He grinned, “Buut…she misses me!”
“Then, she’ll have to get used to it,” Nanami said gently. “That it won’t be like dating a non-sorcerer.”
“Oh she will, she’s a tough girl. Takes everything life throws at her.”
He hmphed at the thought, all triumphant like he could imagine your face right now. It was always so full of determination, and when you looked at him, affection that ran so deep it brought him to his knees. Nanami couldn’t deny that he was happy to see his junior so smitten, so he promptly changed the subject and they continued their evening.
But it’s when you send a photo of yourself, lying on your front with an adorable pout for the camera, that it casts his mind back to the last time you were together. Not only because you had that same look in your eye, but because you sent a message just afterward that said.
“Your little puppy misses you.”
His cock throbbed in his jeans.
The last time you were together he’d used those same exact words…
You had both been both so tired it was laughable, but still you clung to each other in the dark comfort of his bedroom.
His arms supported his head, enough that he could lean up with minimal effort to meet your lips. He whistled and watched with his eyes half-lidded, as you eagerly tugged down your panties and then his waistband. You sank yourself down onto him until your bodies pressed together, kissing all over his throat.
He groaned at the sight of you, “Dirty girl with dirty thoughts, huh? Here I thought you were too tired to fuck.”
You laughed into his neck, lifting your hips up and down. “Changed my mind.”
You were already so breathless, your pants sending shivers down his spine. So his hands shifted to your ass where he suddenly halted your movements by sinking his hands into your soft skin.
By the grip, he fucked you on his cock with minimal effort, using his hands to control your hips as he rutted his own into yours. “Fuck.”
He was making you moan so loudly you had to cover your mouth.
“You’re like a needy little puppy. So, fucking, precious. You need me, huh?”
“Yes, Takuma! You feel so good.”
He moaned between each thrust, drilling up into you until your noises synced together. “I love it when you’re like this,” he groaned. “I’ll give you everything.”
His heart raced as he carefully slipped into his hotel room, Nanami was downstairs luckily, still drinking, so he could be as loud as he wanted.
He yanked down his pants, and took his cock into his hand. He gave it a few careful pumps before he took out his cock and took to FaceTiming you.
Heat rushed through your body when you were met with the sight of his large hand wrapped around the fat shaft of his dick. “Hey cutie,” he hummed, groaning as he squeezed his tip and pre oozed out.
“Is this what you wanted to see from me, huh? That you got me all worked up on the job.”
You hummed a shy hello, pointing the camera between your legs to where you had the dildo he’d bought you slick and lodged inside. “Sort of.”
His voice was strained and raspy as it pulled through the speaker of your phone, “Good girl. I didn’t even need to ask. You’re feeling needy, huh?”
“I know you liked it when I send videos but…” You rubbed on your clit and moaned, your fingers visibly slick as you pulled them away and started to thrust in the toy. “Had to show you.”
He laughed, smug and relaxed before he joined you, thumbing the tip of his dick. He shuddered from the pleasure, imagining your mouth. “So? How was the exam, pretty girl? Did you do your best?“
Ino was never shy with his moans, not ever. Your eyelids fluttered at the sight and the sounds. Wishing you could be with him right now more than ever.
You whimpered to yourself, syncing your movements with his. “Of course I did. You helped me study after all.”
He lowered his voice, flipping the camera to his face where he pointed at his tongue with a wink. “Gonna eat that pussy as soon as I’m home, cutie. Be ready to drown me in it.”
You moaned, removing the toy to show him all the slick that was dripping from you. “Want you to fuck me, wish you were here,” you groaned. “So wet for you, Takumaa—“
“Imagine I am, baby. Put that deeper,” he cooed, jacking himself off tortuously slowly. “Imagine I’m inside.”
You flipped your camera to your face, pouting, “Aren’t you gonna finish with me?”
“Wouldn’t you rather I save my load for that sweet little pussy baby? Just you wait until I’m home.”
You rolled your eyes, but your smirk was full of mischief. “Is that right mister sorcerer?”
He grinned at the nickname, it wasn’t as if it was still as filled with disbelief. If anything it made him hard, your worlds were so separate but he didn’t care at all. He worshipped you.
“Oh yeah, I’m wrecking you as soon as I get home baby. I can’t just accept this slutty behaviour of yours, can I?”

okay but hear me out...
featuring: Takuma Ino x gn!reader
genre: Fluff, crack
word count: 600
synopsis: Making a hear me out cake with your boyfriend is just meaningless fun, right?
Like this? You can find my smaus here and my drabbles and other fiics here!
Do you have a request? You can find my rules for requesting here!
a/n: i fear the demons cooked with this idea that would not leave my head until I wrote it
“Kuma!” You called out to your boyfriend from the kitchen, mischief lacing your tone.
“Yeah babe?” He asked, appearing in the doorway of your shared kitchen. You had spent all day in there, shooing him out every time he popped his head in to try and find out what exactly you were doing. He found you stood at the kitchen table, spreading buttercream icing onto a freshly made chocolate cake. “Is that what you’ve been doing all day? Are we celebrating something?”
“I need you to go and print some stuff out for me.” You smiled at him.
“We have a printer?”
“Yes, we have a printer. Now go use it.”
“What exactly am I printing out?”
There was a beat of silence before you answered him. “Your hear me outs.” He broke out in a massive grin, eyes lighting up with excitement. Your own smile widened at his puppy-like excitement, glad he was on board with your surprise idea.
“Is that a hear me out cake?”
“Nah, it’s my friend’s birthday cake.”
“Oh..” His shoulders sunk, suddenly lethargic.
“I’m kidding, idiot. We’re absolutely doing hear me out cake. Go get printing, and don’t you dare hold back.” Ino was suddenly full of energy again, rushing off to print off the photos he needed.
“Erm, baby?” He wandered back into the kitchen, sheepish.
“Yeah sweetie?” You looked up at him, eyes wide.
“Where is the printer?”
-
It was 20 minutes later, and you had your phone set in front of the fresh cake, filming the two of you stood behind it. You had both done the majority of your hear me outs, and it was your turn to reveal your last one.
“I’d, erm, say this is a relatively tame one, but I saved it til last just for your reaction.” You bit your lip, nervously looking at your boyfriend.
“Okay, now I’m kinda scared. The last one you said was ‘tame’ was a headless mannequin.”
You slowly spun your kebab stick around, revealing the photo attached to it to your camera, purposefully holding it close to block Ino’s view of it.
“Babe, I can’t see-”
“Nanami!” You squeaked, hurriedly stabbing the stick into the cake.
“That’s my boss!” Ino gaped at you, jaw hanging so low it was basically on the floor.
“Hey, you can’t deny that that man is very much attractive. A gentleman too.”
“No, I really can’t deny it…” As your boyfriend trailed off, he slowly spun his last hear me out around, allowing you to see the subject of it.
“Fuck off!” You exclaimed, a gobsmacked laugh tearing it’s way out of your throat.
“My last hear me out is also Nanami…” He said to the camera, before putting it in the cake next to your photo of the same man.
“Did we use the same photo?” You reeled, admiring your cake through your phone screen.
“It is a sexy photo of him.”
“I’m telling you, it’s the rolled up sleeves. It’s the same as the mannequin-” The two of you spent the next minute admiring your boyfriend’s superior, all on a video that eventually made its way onto your TikTok page.
-
A few days passed, and the two of you had pretty much forgotten about the video you had posted. The cake had been devoured by the two of you over those days, and the many photos that had been stuck in it thrown away, as if the entire thing never happened. Until Ino received a text, that is.
Would you care to explain what a ‘hear me out’ is?

i’m sexy so he nervous, ˖ . ݁𝜗𝜚. ݁₊ takuma ino
black!fem!reader makes ino nervous from being so sexy. weed consumption. has the word ‘nigga’ in here. ino is wasian. reupload, wc 2.6k
“why you always wearing a beanie?”
ino looked at her with his eyebrows raised, two hands holding a wood horizontally as he moistened the brown leaf. then when what she asked registered, he pulled the leaf from his lips, shaping the soon-to-be blunt.
“oh,” he muttered. then he returned his eyes to his rolling tray and began assorting the crumbled plant into his wet leaf canoe.
“it’s actually not a beanie,” he corrected as he used an old gift card to scoop the weed up. “it’s a mask.” he dumped the contents into the blunt.
she playfully rolled her eyes. “well, why you always wearing a mask?”
ino smirked as he pearled.
she couldn’t lie, seeing a nigga perfectly roll was attractive, even though she didn’t really smoke like that — definitely not blunts. she cool with her joints. so maybe that’s where her fascination came from. he did it so smoothly, no clumsiness. she liked that. she liked the way he rolled. sure, she knew she and ino were friends; that didn’t mean she couldn’t look.
so she looked a lot, actually. when he rolled, when he played video games, when he skated. the way he held onto the steering wheel with one hand. the way he sat with his legs a bit spread. the way he always hid his figure behind large, baggy black clothes. but she always was so unassuming about it. he never noticed her doing so. granted, he was a bit oblivious in general.
he located a lighter, smirk still on his lips, and flicked it. “gotta be ready,” he teased, dragging the small flame along the body of the blunt.
her thin y2k-inspired eyebrows furrowed. “ready for what?”
ino inspected the dryness. in his opinion, it could dry a little longer. so he brought the lighter back up and flicked the light, proceeding in running it along the leaf.
“for when i stick people up,” he replied coolly. then he formed a gun with his hand, followed by childish little pew pew sounds.
it took everything in her to not facepalm.
“you so corny, ino. seriously,” she stressed with a little smile. “i wanna know. i don’t think i ever seen you with your bean— mask off.”
then she plopped beside him on his bed as he rolled. “i finished rolling your joint, by the way,” he added in.
her eyes sparkled, she ain’t even notice! considering she sucked at rolling, she gleefully plucked the rose joint from his rolling tray. he specifically bought the rose joints for her — he personally thought they smoked decent. but he was a blunt guy through and through.
“yeah, i don’t know. i’m so used to it being on, i feel kinda naked without it,” he answered with a shrug and a shy smile. he checked if the blunt was still moist by lightly sliding his fingers along its surface. and deciding it was dry enough, ino reached for the lighter beside him and immediately lit. when he was done, he passed the lighter to her.
she accepted it and hummed thoughtfully, bringing her rose joint up to her lips and lighting it. then she inhaled. she loved her way the petals tasted. exhale.
“would you take it off for me?” she leaned back on his bed, using her right forearm to prop her weight on. then she swung her legs off the edge of the mattress. she smiled sweetly, trying to sway him with her doll-like eyes.
ino intended to give her a side-eye, but seeing her in his peripheral leaning back like that, he couldn’t help himself. his eyes flickered down to her body. he knew his friend was a very desirable woman, but that cheetah print tube top and her low rise jeans were so… ahhh. and her waist was so… ahhh. she had a little ring through both the top and bottom of her bellybutton. it was like a sexy ass constellation. ahhh.
he was unsure what lotion or body oil she used, but it always left behind a sheer glittery shimmer on her skin which popped on her deep complexion and the fragrance was so sweet and warm. if he didn’t have home training, he would’ve been barking like a dog. but his mama taught him how to act around pretty women; when he got around one, he never acted like he hadn’t. don’t nothing put a baddie off like that.
so he tried to ignore it, but she wasn’t an idiot. she knew that he was ogling. she didn’t particularly mind though. he was respectfully quiet about it, so she allowed it. she didn’t blame him. after all, she was so fine. she liked the attention as well. and lastly, she liked the attention from him in particular.
she acted oblivious though, flipping her long braids over her shoulder. this movement caused him to realize he was staring — through a side eye — and his eyes raised to catch hers. she gave him a knowing smirk.
he redirected his attention to his rolling tray. “yeah. go ahead, take it off of me,” he muttered, feeling timid.
she couldn’t hide her giddy smile as she ashed her joint on the rolling tray and scooted closer to him. she raised her manicured hand up to gently pull the beanie-looking mask from his head. then she marveled at him as his hair fell in place. he felt his cheeks grow hot at the proximity and her admiration.
she set the beanie behind them both, not once breaking her eyes from his unveiled hair. “can i touch it?”
he relit the blunt and inhaled from it. “yeah.”
she ran her fingers through his dark brown hair. ino was wasian — half japanese, half white. even though his hair color probably came from his brunette white parent, his texture most definitely came from his japanese parent. it was so thick, so strong, so soft. he was already cute, but him with his hair down? he was fine. she saw the potential even if he didn’t.
“you look good,” she complimented softly, still styling his hair with her fingers. “you should wear it out more.”
ino’s breath hitched when he felt her fingers brush the nape of his neck. “t-thank you,” he replied, his shoulders raising from tension.
she sat close to him before, but in that tube top and her silage enveloping him… he felt a little more fidgety than usual.
her eyebrows furrowed as her eyes lowered to the side of his face. then she dropped her hands to her lap. “why you flinching?” she inquired. he didn’t respond, he just put his rolling tray on his nightstand and squirmed.
“i’m not flinching,” he weakly defended, but she could see a peach color dusting his cheeks. he was blushing. deeply. and she had no idea why. she just kept watching him tense up beside her, his eyes flickering from her exposed thighs, then back to his lap. like he was trying not to get caught.
it took her a few moments to decode his strange behavior, but then a realization dawned on her. she fought the urge to giggle once she connected the dots.
of course. she sexy so he nervous.
she smiled to herself. she loved when guys acted like aliens next to bad bitches. it was cute. he was cute. so she wanted to play a little bit — they flirted here and there in the past, but she never explicitly let ino know what was up with her. now was a good time, considering he was helping himself to admiring her.
she got a little closer. her shoulder brushed his. with a little smile, she spoke with a lower, breathier murmur. her eyes never left the side of his head, but he kept his eyes forward like a racehorse with blinders.
“am i making you nervous?” then she brushed some of his hair behind his ear.
ino’s heart skipped a beat. he was going to lie, but that’d be so embarrassingly obvious. so he just responded honestly as he twirled the blunt in his fingertips, needing stimulation. looking sheepish, he nodded. “y-yeah, a little bit.”
“why? it’s just me,” she feigned oblivion.
he hurriedly lit his blunt to take some of the nerves away. “yeah, b-but you’re so close…” he inhaled. exhale.
“what’s wrong with that?” her voice was so hard to listen to like this. she already had such an attractive accent. but when it was low like that and all whispery, it made the hairs on his neck stand up. “do you want me to back up?”
“no, you can stay,” he offered, cheeks still hot. “but like… not to be weird, but you’re just so pretty and you smell so good,” he admitted timidly. “you sound so good.”
she pushed herself closer to him. “why would it be weird?”
“‘cause we’re friends,” he retorted, somewhat innocently.
twirling one of his tendrils around her index finger, she shrugged. “you can think your friend is pretty. and smells good. and sounds good. there ain’t no rule against that.” she began caressing his head.
“yeah…” he agreed with another inhale from his blunt. “i just don’t know how to take it.” with his words, smoke fell from his pink lips. her eyes flickered down.
“take it however you want to.”
then she stood up and removed herself from him. the little dip in the bed filled out, and ino found himself wanting her close again. he watched her saunter over to his nightstand and pick the rose joint up. she turned around and plucked the lighter from his frozen hands. he didn’t realize he was so stunned by what happened that he just… stopped moving.
she lit the joint. “thank you,” then she slid the lighter back in his hand.
she returned to the same leaned-back position she was in before she began teasing him.
she was so pretty when she smoked. her brown-lined glossy lips wrapped around the end, and she sucked, which illuminated the other end of the joint. she removed the joint from her lips, held the smoke for a few seconds, then exhaled. smoke surrounded them.
she had an eased expression with her incoming high. “so how do you want to take it?”
his eyes widened and he stiffened. it was easy to mindlessly flirt in passing, but when it felt so direct and personal, he became subdued. he wanted to do some real nasty shit. but he didn’t want to say that, it would be too forward. instead, he preferred for her to take control.
“h-however you want to, i guess,” is what he stammered out.
she had a twinkle in her eye as she took another hit. “come on, baby. use your words.” she adjusted herself on the bed, now laying on her side and facing him. she was like a panther, having her prey right where she wanted him before she pounced.
to be honest, he wanted to kiss her. he really wanted to kiss her. he thought about it a few times, wondering what lips so glossy and thick would feel like against his. he imagined how his hands would settle above her hips as she straddled him. he saw her dance before — her waistline was insane. so he also pondered how fluid she would grind into him. she had such an effortlessly seductive aura, ino was a bit shocked she was even entertaining him. he was a bit dorky, he ain’t know what to do with allat! he wasn’t going to act like he did. but she asked so…
“well…” he began, setting the lighter down so he could rub the back of his neck. “i kinda want to kiss you.”
her eyebrow quirked up. “do you kinda want to, or do you just want to?”
he cleared his throat. “i want to kiss you.”
she looked at him with low-lidded eyes and picked the lighter up from where he left it. her dark chocolate eyes scanned him as she did a quick one over, taking in his body language and his expression. he was so awkward, bracing himself for rejection but still anticipating her approval. she smiled to this. she loved how her weed-dealing, gun-toting, stoner friend was tamed into a fidgeting, blushing mess.
“come here,” she commanded softly before she drew smoke from the rose joint. he obliged, scooting closer. since her lungs were full, she only indicated with a twitch of her finger than he come closer. he, again, obeyed.
she wrapped a hand behind his neck to bring him face-to-face with her. then her fingers moved from his neck to his jaw, and she gently squeezed. assuming she was telling him to open his mouth, he did as instructed. then she neared him, placing her lips right in front of his. his whole body was on fire as he could feel the ghost of her mouth against his. she was so close, but so far.
parting her lips, she slowly blew the rose-flavored smoke into his mouth. his eyes widened, but he didn’t waste a bit of it. he felt his lungs fill with her essence. he felt so slutted out, buttt… he couldn’t say he minded.
finally, she sealed the smoke in his lungs with a kiss. he froze at the initial contact, then melted into her softness. she returned her free hand to the nape of his neck as she pulled him closer, pressing her chest to his.
after a few moments, she pulled away as he dazedly pushed the smoke from his lungs. what a tease. a cherry-colored shimmer was left on his lips, matching his flushed cheeks. the kiss lasted no longer than five seconds, but he was ridiculously turned on. she knew because her own core throbbed. feeling a mixture of prideful and flustered, she set her joint down in the rolling tray.
“how was it?” she questioned. but from his deer-in-headlights look, she knew she had him.
kissing her was like staring into the sun. her lips were so soft, with a subtle fruity flavor. she didn’t add any tongue, but she didn’t need to — just the pressure of her lips against his had his hands frozen at his sides. ino had kissed people before, but with her, he forgot all motor functions. he almost forgot how to kiss, then he realized he wanted to impress her so he put that work in.
ino blinked a few times. “so good…” he muttered.
“mm,” she hummed, flipping her braids over her shoulder. a few moments of silence passed as they both processed what happened.
she enjoyed kissing him — at first, he was too stunned to kiss back. but once the initial shock wore off, he reciprocated her slow, deep movements. it felt like a french kiss without the tongue. so simple, but so intimate. she had to pull away because she felt herself getting wet. and yet, she regretted removing herself from him. he felt so good, she knew she wanted to kiss his little shy ass at least one more time. and this time? with a lot of tongue and spit.
biting her lip, she looked away from him and began tracing patterns into his bed. “…do you wanna do it again?” asking for herself.
still dazed, ino’s head bobbed slowly. “mhm.”
to this, her darkened eyes settled on him. she sat up, tucking her feet underneath her bum before leaning forward. feeling the bed shift under her weight, ino turned his head to watch her inquisitively. then their gazes met.
not once breaking eye contact, she pushed her braids back behind her head. she smiled a sweet smile. “then come and kiss me, boy.”

“Hey babe?” Your sweet voice calls to Ino.
“Yeah?” He replies, in the other room because he was turned on by seeing you sat on the bed so prettily.
“Wanna try something, stop getting your boner down and come here.”
“Oh? What does my pretty girl want?” He smiles and comes out of his hiding place and back into the bedroom.
“So, I was scrolling through my twitter, as I do, and I came across something that sounds fun. I know how you love a competition.”
“It’s not a threesome is it? I know we both love Nanami, but I don’t think he’d be up for that.”
“We’ll revisit that, but this is different.” You laugh.
“What’s the competition?”
“We grind against each other and stay clothed, and whoever cums first has to do what the other says.” Your grin is so mischievous, it’d be hard for him to say no. Luckily for you both, Ino is always up for a challenge.
“Baby, your pretty brain is soooo big and wrinkly, I wanna kiss it.” He grins and practically pounces on you and kisses you.
He instantly starts grinding his sensitive tip against your clit through the both of your clothes, hissing at the contact but loving your reaction. He messily kisses you, swirling your tongues together and bringing his hands to your hair and tangling into the strands.
“Baby, I dunno how long I’ll last,” the brunette mumbles as he kisses you, “but I wanna see if I can win, so I’ll hold it back as best I can.”
“Mhm, me too,” you hum back into his lips, eagerly accepting the feel of his boner against your throbbing clit.
“You like that, pretty girl? Feels good, yeah?” He groans softly into your mouth, hands tightening in your hair.
“Mhm, I love it, ‘kuma.”
“Yeah, you know what I love?”
“Hm?” You hum into his neck as he leans close to your ear.
“This pretty girl under me.” Ino grins, his breath hot against your ear.
It works up the both of you more and you start kissing his neck, making it harder for him to keep his composure.
“God, you’re so gorgeous, my pretty baby,” he whines, making more noise than you as you two do this. “So hard not to cream my pants right now…”
“Aww, is my silly boyfriend struggling to hold his load?” You giggle into a half-moan, his tip brushing just right against your clit through the fabric of your pants.
“Hey, ‘m not silly,” he mumbles and picks up his pace, accepting that he’ll probably end up cumming first.
“You are, but you’re so handsome too. And you’re such a good boy, can’t wait for you to prove it when you cum and you get to listen to me.”
Your words only work him up more, and he ends up cumming in his pants, whining at the sensitivity and his now-ruined sorcerer pants. Some of the sticky substance leaks through the fabric and his ears burn red in embarrassment, all while you giggle.
“Wow, ‘kuma, made a mess from being called a good boy?” You tease.
“Sh-shut up, it wasn’t that…”
“Mhm, sure.” You giggle as he lightly smacks you.
“What’s my punishment, pretty girl?”
“Just you wait and see.”

||INHERITANCE ONE|| t.i.
CHAPTER SPECIFIC CONTENT :: SMUT, ino x reader centric, FWB!ino, granny trying to set us up with “fine young men”, ino is kinda a perv
“miss, it’s not that i don’t enjoy conversing with you but, why did you call this meeting.”
two men in suits and a little old lady sit in a study. the woman sat at the head, shakily enjoying some tea as the two men watched her. the blonde was the first to speak, the brunette still pulling out supplies from his briefcase.
“nanami, relax a little. a young man like you shouldn’t be so uptight.”
her statement made the brunette chuckle a bit as he finally closed his briefcase. nanami’s face remained stoic, his right eyebrow twitched lightly. the old woman laughed before letting out a long sigh to continue the matter at hand.
“as you guys know, i’m getting old and i don’t want to stay in this big house anymore.”
“you want to sell?” nanami asks, getting ready to pull out financial papers. the old lady holds her hand up to stop him from rummaging through his files.
“no. hiromi, i want to write my will. i’m giving everything to my granddaughter.”
“everything? money, land, properties, even business ownership?” hiromi asks, clicking his pen and scribbling notes on a legal pad.
“mhm, all of it. i’ll call her and we can arrange a meeting for all the legal signatures; i just wanted to make you guys aware of my plans.”
hiromi continued to scribble on his pad, nanami ended up pulling out his laptop and started typing away.
“where would you go, miss?”
“i’m old and lonely, i want to go to a retirement home.”
nanami gave her a soft smile. “well, i’m sure you’ll pick the best one.”
“if you don’t mind me asking, why is this the first time we’re hearing of this granddaughter?” hiromi asks, eyes lifting from his paper.
“ah, well, she’s been through a lot and lives in the city. doesn’t get to visit often.” she says, a small smile appearing on her face as thoughts of you are appearing in her mind.
“oh you guys would love her, so beautiful and kind. reminds me of how i was at her age. she just won’t settle down, you know how you young people are. too focused on your careers to stop and smell the roses. i might have to set her up with one of you.”
the old woman sent the two men a smirk; nanami loudly cleared his throat while hiromi just let out another chuckle.
“i’m sure she’s lovely, we’ll be looking forward to seeing her at our next meeting.”
the two men stood up and went to either side of the woman, helping her up out of the chair. she led them to the front door, saying their goodbyes. she pulled out her phone and scrolled through her contacts before clicking your name.
___
“…and he didn’t even say th-thank you.” you pant, arching your back even further as you recount the hellish day you’ve had. the man underneath you hummed in acknowledgment, reaching up to play with your tit and give it a gentle squeeze.
you bite your lip, eyes rolling back as you continue to bounce in his cock. his other hand rests on the small of your back, firmly rubbing up and down and giving your ass a nice squeeze every so often.
“yeah? what else happened today?” ino asked, tone sweet as honey while absentmindedly rolling your nipple between his pointer and thumb. he looks at you like an adoring puppy as he watched your fucked out face contorting into various expressions of pleasure. his thick cock was hitting just the right spot, causing your legs to tremble every time you rise and fall.
“a-and then the printer broke.” the knot in your stomach gets tighter, making you squeeze your eyes shut and lean forward and rest your forehead on his. The sensation immediately making you forget why you were upset. you sit all the way down, his cock nuzzled all the way deep inside you as you gently grind.
“fuuuck, ino.” you moan. he lets out a low chuckle as he angles his head to kiss along your neck and down to your shoulder.
“you need some help, pretty?” ino asks, his other hand finally trailing down your back to rest on your asscheek. you can only moan in response as both his hands spread you open further and he gently lifts you halfway off his cock before slamming you back down.
his continuous jabs on your sweet spot make you dizzy as waves of pleasure rush through your body. his muscles flex while he bounces you up and down on his dick. the sound of skin slapping fills the room, mixed with your whines and his pants.
“that’s it, fuck, there you go.” ino grunts, hips stuttering a bit once he feels the sting of your nails gripping his bare shoulders. the slight pain sends shivers down his spine, his breath going ragged.
“yes! please, please, please, pl—” you practically chant before cutting yourself off with a high pitched moan, finally being pushed over the edge.
your pussy has a death grip on his cock as he slows down, letting you ride out your high. ino looks up at your worn out face, skin basically glistening from sweat, and moves one of his hands to the back of your head to pull you in for a gentle kiss.
all movements come to a slow stop, the both of you catching your breaths.
“where do you want it, sweets?” ino whispers, slowly pulling his hard dick out of your pussy. you let out a quiet whine at the empty feeling.
“wherever you want.”
he nods and leans in for another kiss before adjusting your positions. he gently lays you on your back as he hovers over you, knees on either side of your hips. he stares at you with hooded eyes, sitting on his heels and slowly stroking his cock.
“f-fuck, you’re so pretty ya’know?” he rambles as his hand continues to pump himself. still tired and barely recovering from an orgasm, all you can do is hum in response.
with every flick of his wrist, his grip tightens more as he reaches the tip. he bucks his hips as he takes some time to rub his thumb on his slit.
“o-oh shit. push them together for me, please.” he moans out, strokes going faster as he gets closer.
you raise your hands to your chest, pushing your tits together per his request. you look up at him with hooded eyes and the sight makes his dick twitch.
“you got this, c’mon, cum for me.” you coo at him, voice a little raspy from your moans.
“fuck, yes. i’m cumming, i’m cu—ah!”
his hot white seed shoots onto your tits as he continues to milk himself dry. he slowly comes to a stop, chest rising and falling as he catches his breath. this time, he’s the one to lean down and press his forehead against yours.
he cups your cheek with one hand while his other hand travels to your breasts. he gathers his cum with his fingers and brings them up to your lips. opening your mouth at his silent request, he rests his cum covered fingers inside your mouth. you hum and suck around his fingers before he removes them to capture your lips with his own once more.
you both moan into the kiss, the taste of himself on your lips causing ino to shudder a bit.
a nice shower and some takeout later, the two of you sit on your couch, binging some trashy reality tv show. ino’s really into it, making you giggle at his exaggerated reactions after some particularly juicy drama happens.
“and that’s how you know he is trashy because why--” ino’s rant was interrupted by your loud ringtone.
“hello? hi granny, is everything okay?”
“hi sweetpea, everything is fine.”
“oh okay, what’s up?”
“i wanted to ask if you could visit sometime, i have some awfully great news.”
“a visit could fit into my schedule, what was the news?”
“i’m giving everything to you.”
“y-you’re what?”
“i’ll discuss more with you once you get here, please do so soon.”
before you could ask another question she hung up. you let out a shaky exhale, slowly turning to ino who had been staring at you the whole conversation.
“what happened?”
“i…i have to go to my grandmother’s place.” you mumbled, eyebrows slightly furrowed. you quickly stand to make your way to the room, puling out a suitcase once you make it to your closet.
“is she okay?” he asks, standing up to follow you.
“yeah, it’s just that she said she’s giving me everything.”
your back is to him as you throw clothes into the suitcase. ino stands at the door, watching u with confusion in his eyes.
“when are you leaving? are you going to come back?” he asks, walking further into the room and sitting on the edge of your bed.
you pause for a bit, cursing under your breath. this is too much all at once, you were barely able to process what she said before she hung up. you turn to ino, dropping some clothes into the suitcase.
“i’m going there this weekend to see what’s up. i’m not sure when i’ll be back, don’t wait for me.”
ino’s brows furrowed, “what do you mean don’t wait?”
“i’m not sure what my granny has planned, but i don’t wanna keep you hanging if i end up staying. you should find someone else to see.”
“are you sure, because i ca—” you interrupt him with a hand in his face, sitting next to him on the edge.
“i’m sure there’s tons of other women just waiting to get piped by you, don’t let them wait because of me.” you say, jokingly elbowing him. he let out a chuckle.
“okay, well if you need anything you have my number. i’m serious.”
you nod while laughing. “do you mind helping me pack?” ino nodded and shot straight up.
“only if i get to keep a pair of your panties, you know, for memories.”
you playfully roll your eyes as you stood up. “sure, whatever, you freak.”
a/n :: this is for THE ino fan ever, @inciseleviathan , i hoped yall enjoy. i’m trying to get more consistent with posts i swear. this series kinda means the world to me so please treat her nicely 😩no smut in the next chapter but we’ll meet more characters.

DEAR FUTURE HUSBAND — jjk men
wherein you follow an infamous tik-tok trend on them ( to get their hilarious reactions. )
prompt: it is a warm day and you’ve planned an outing with your dear boyfriend, but you have a mischievous idea in your mind as you set your phone up on the dash, following along the act from the infamous tik-tok prank wherein girlfriends are ordering and trying out stuff with their boyfriends but amidst the conversation they let slip the word ‘husband’ with the intention of seeing the reactions of the boyfriends being called just that.
⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ GOJO SATORU !
his eyes almost pop out of his skull. like? what did you just call him? did he hear you right? or were his ears just ringing as he just stares at you wide eyed as you converse on the phone, a smile on your face as you chatted away. you see him gaping at you like a fish, from the corner of your eye and it almost makes you snort, and you mutter in the phone again.
“yes, my husband would like a dessert to go with it too.”
“husband?” he inquires, mind boggled as he gazes at you. you could feel the excitement tinged in his voice and it only make you smile from ear to ear.
“yeah, that is it for my husband and me!” you turn to face him with a grin as you spoke into the phone, and as you cut the call, he could only stare at you in awe and a million more emotions full of affection.
“did you just say i am your husband?” he questioned, cheeks beginning to pop with the colour red. and you nod, acting all innocent as you gazed at him and oh god— the stare made butterflies in his stomach as he shies away in his hands and you finally snort at his reaction.
and maybe, just maybe, the box kept snug in the dashboard will be the answer.
⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ GETO SUGURU !
he sees something coming, he has foreseen it but this was not what he was actually expecting. he suddenly turns to look at you wide eyed as soon as you had mumbled the word ‘husband’ and it was as if past lives of you and him together began to flash in his mind. he keeps gazing at you with all the affections in the world as you giggled and spoke in the phone.
“yes, thank you, my husband will call you for it!”
and as soon as those words left your lips and you cut the call, he’s still gazing at you, lovestruck and almost lovesick. just staring. and staring. and staring.
“what?” you giggled, cheeks heating up as you too gazed back at him. “nothing, wife.” he utters and gosh, you think you almost died and resurrected in the same spot in the car. you just wish to drown in his warm chocolate pools and never come back up.
you shy away in the palm of your hands hiding your face and he chuckles, a deep one rumbles from his chest and you were sure he was going to be the death of you. “now, don’t shy away on me. you did it first, wife!”
“stooopppp.” you whine as you throw your head back into the seat, fever crossing your features and he only laughs heartily to your reaction.
⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ NANAMI KENTO !
he’s like; i’m sorry? did i hear it right? husband? who? he’s got a neutral face through it all, looking at you as you spoke, words rolling off your tongue as if he has always been your husband, all ringed and up and yours, vowed and bound to you and only you.
as soon as the call cuts, you turn to face him, lashes blinking up at him, eyes warm and full of mischief. “who was it?” nanami inquires first and foremost.
“oh, some guy pestering me for a date, so i told him i have a husband!” you reasoned, mentally punching the air in victory with the already practiced line and he’s like what? excuse you?
“a guy?” he questioned, a bit bewildered and you try your best not to snort. “yeah, he is my client.” you lied again; and you could feel your nose growing, but you just gazed at him, leaning back into your seat.
he just right up gazes at you with a straight face and speaks:
“yeah well, tell him to now contact your husband for any available deals.”
and you think you just died.
⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ INO TAKUMA !
he is so confused and dumbfounded. he cannot comprehend the word for the life of him. he goes to check his ring finger and then eye yours and when he sees nothing, and it makes him much more bewildered than before, but he doesn’t say anything; only choosing to hear you speak further.
“i am sorry but my husband handles a lot of stuff around the house.” you chuckle softly into the phone, trying your best not to laugh, knowing well of the stare targeted right at you.
“yes. you can contact him.” you say again. eyes turning to look at him and you raise a brow at him and he just shakes his head, shrugging as if asking you that ‘no, you tell me what’s the problem.’
as soon as you end the call and keep the phone away, you face him, biting the smile away from your lips as you see him staring at you with observant eyes. “what?” you spoke, voice gentle and acting all innocent.
“did we marry drunk in vegas or what?” he suddenly inquires and you can’t help but let out the laugh you held. “what? what is so funny, wife?”
“you, mr. husband.” you snort, cheekily raising your brows at him. and his cheeks turn red and he thinks he is melting feeling all warm and feverish.
and you softly chuckle at the reaction you are getting out of him as you laugh when he melts into his seat, falling down his seat. gosh, you love this dork so much.
HSISBEJBEID I ACTUALLY AM OBSESSED WITH THE REACTIONS IN THE TREND 😭😭😭

No Pass, Just BITCH ❀ includes: Gojo, Sukuna ft Uraume, Toji & Ino (Requested)
Masterlist
You’re in the kitchen, the savory aroma of dinner filling the air as you move around, checking the oven and stirring the pot on the stove. It’s been a long day, but you’re almost done preparing a meal that you know Satoru will love. You smile to yourself, thinking about how he always appreciates your cooking.
Just as you’re about to finish up, you hear him call from the other room, his voice loud and clear, "Hey, bitch! When’s dinner ready?"
The words hit you like a punch to the gut, and you freeze. Did he really just call you that? Your heart sinks, and a wave of hurt washes over you. You’ve never heard him speak to you like that before. You try to brush it off, thinking maybe you misheard, but the sting lingers.
You turn off the stove and wipe your hands on a towel, your appetite suddenly gone. As you walk into the living room, you see Gojo lounging on the couch, a casual smile on his face as he scrolls through his phone.
"Did you just call me a bitch?" you ask, your voice shaking slightly.
He looks up, a hint of surprise in his eyes. "Yeah, why? What’s the problem?"
You feel a lump form in your throat. "That’s not okay, Satoru. It really hurt my feelings."
For a moment, there’s silence. Then, Gojo’s eyes widen, and he jumps up from the couch, his face filled with genuine concern. "Oh my god, babe, I’m so sorry. I was just messing with you! It was supposed to be a prank. I didn’t mean to hurt you."
You cross your arms, looking away as tears threaten to spill. "Well, it wasn’t funny."
He steps closer, reaching out to gently cup your face. "I’m really sorry. I thought it would be a harmless joke, but I see now that it wasn’t. Please forgive me?"
You take a deep breath, feeling the sincerity in his apology. Slowly, you nod, still feeling a bit shaken. "Just… don’t do it again, okay? Words like that aren’t a joke."
Gojo pulls you into a tight hug, pressing a kiss to your forehead. "I promise, I won’t. I love you too much to ever hurt you again. Now, how about we finish making dinner together? I’ll even do the dishes."
A small smile tugs at your lips as you lean into his embrace. "Okay. But you’re on dish duty for the rest of the week."
He chuckles, rubbing your back soothingly. "Deal. And again, I’m really sorry."
You nod, feeling the tension slowly melt away. "Just make sure the food doesn’t burn while we’re in here."
Gojo grins, leading you back to the kitchen. "I’ll be your sous chef tonight. Let’s make this the best dinner ever."
"Asshole," You mutter under your breath and Gojo huffs out a laugh.
"Deserved,"
You’re in the kitchen, carefully chopping vegetables for dinner, when you hear Sukuna’s voice booming from outside the kitchen.
“Hey, bitch! When’s dinner ready?”
You freeze, the knife hovering mid-air. The insult stings, and you feel your face heat up with a mix of anger and hurt. You take a deep breath, trying to steady your emotions, but the sharpness of his words makes it hard.
Before you can respond, Uraume whirls around from the sink, their usually calm expression twisted in disapproval. They cross their arms and fix Sukuna with a stern look.
“Lord Sukuna, that was completely uncalled for,” Uraume says, their voice sharp and reprimanding. “You can’t speak to them like that.”
Sukuna leans against the doorframe, a smirk playing on his lips. He seems entirely unbothered by Uraume’s scolding.
“Oh, come on, Uraume. It’s just a joke,” he says, waving a dismissive hand. “Lighten up a bit.”
Uraume’s eyes narrow, and they take a step closer to him. “A joke or not, it was disrespectful. You owe them an apology.”
You glance between the two of them, feeling a bit lost and still stung by Sukuna’s words. Sukuna’s smirk fades slightly as he looks at you, realizing the impact of his “joke.”
He sighs, pushing off the doorframe and walking over to you. “Alright, alright. I’m sorry. It was just a prank, I didn’t mean to upset you.” His tone is softer now, more sincere.
You stare at him for a moment, the sincerity in his eyes making it hard to stay angry. Finally, you nod, accepting his apology. “Just… don’t do it again, okay?”
Sukuna grins and ruffles your hair playfully. “Promise. Now, how about that dinner?”
You roll your eyes but can’t help the small smile tugging at your lips. As you turn back to the vegetables, you hear Uraume give a small, satisfied huff.
“Thank you, Lord Sukuna,” Uraume says, their tone lighter before they glance at you with a small smirk. “And don’t forget, respect goes both ways. So go ahead”
"Dickhead," You say and Sukuna laughs, tossing his head back.
"Nicely done,"
You're in the kitchen, chopping vegetables and humming softly to yourself, enjoying the quiet moment of preparation. The evening sun filters through the window, casting a warm glow over the countertops and filling the room with a cosy ambience.
Suddenly, Toji Fushiguro strides in, his presence as commanding as ever. Without so much as a greeting, he leans against the doorway and crosses his arms, a smirk playing at his lips.
"Hey, bitch, when's dinner gonna be ready?" he asks, his tone casual but the words hitting you like a slap in the face.
Your hands freeze mid-chop, and you turn to glare at him, anger bubbling up inside you. "Excuse me?" you snap, your voice sharp. "What did you just call me?"
Toji's smirk widens, his eyes twinkling with a mischievous glint. "You heard me," he says, clearly unfazed by your reaction.
Without thinking, you grab the nearest spatula and hurl it in his direction. It whizzes past his head and clatters against the wall behind him. Toji bursts into laughter, the sound echoing through the kitchen.
"What the hell, Toji?" you shout, your face flushed with anger. "What's wrong with you?"
He raises his hands in a placating gesture, still chuckling. "Relax, it's just a prank," he says, shaking his head. "I didn't mean it. I was just messing with you."
You stare at him, your heart still pounding with fury, but now mixed with a hint of confusion. "A prank?" you repeat, your voice laced with disbelief.
Toji nods, his laughter dying down as he walks over to you. "Yeah, just a prank," he says, placing a hand on your shoulder. "I didn't mean to piss you off. Just wanted to see your reaction."
You take a deep breath, trying to calm yourself. "Well, congratulations, you got one," you mutter, swatting his hand away.
Toji grins and pulls you into a quick hug. "Sorry, couldn't resist," he says, his voice softer now. "Dinner smells great, by the way."
You sigh, shaking your head but unable to suppress a small smile. "Just don't call me that again," you warn, pointing a finger at him.
"Promise," he replies, holding up his hands in mock surrender. "Now, how can I help to make it up to you?"
You hand him a knife, the tension easing out of the room as you both get back to preparing dinner together, the earlier anger fading into the background.
You’re bustling around the kitchen, trying to get dinner ready after a long day. The scent of sizzling garlic and onions fills the air, mixing with the tangy aroma of tomatoes and herbs simmering in a pot. You’re focused, almost lost in the rhythmic chopping of vegetables when you hear the front door creak open.
Ino strides in, his usual confident swagger evident in every step. He tosses his bag onto the couch and makes a beeline for the kitchen. Without any preamble, he leans against the counter, crosses his arms, and smirks. “Hey, bitch, when’s dinner ready?”
The words hit you like a slap. Your jaw tightens, and you can feel a hot flush creeping up your neck. You turn to face him, eyes narrowing. “Excuse me?” you snap, gripping the wooden spoon in your hand like a weapon. “What did you just call me?”
Ino’s smirk doesn’t falter. “You heard me. I asked when dinner’s ready.”
You see red. Without thinking, you grab the nearest object—a half-full glass of water—and hurl it at him. He dodges, but not quickly enough. The glass shatters against the wall, and water splashes across his shirt.
“Are you out of your mind?” you shout, furious. “How dare you talk to me like that!”
For a moment, the room is silent, the tension thick and suffocating. Then, Ino bursts into laughter, holding up his hands in surrender. “Wait, wait! It’s just a prank! Relax, okay?”
You glare at him, chest heaving, trying to process his words. “A prank?” you echo, incredulous.
“Yeah,” he says, still chuckling. “I was just messing with you. I didn’t think you’d get so mad. Look, I’m sorry. It was supposed to be funny.”
You take a deep breath, trying to calm the storm of emotions swirling inside you. Slowly, the anger starts to ebb, replaced by a reluctant amusement. “You’re an idiot,” you mutter, shaking your head. “A complete idiot.”
Ino grins, wiping water off his face. “But I’m your idiot,” he says, stepping closer and pulling you into a hug. “Come on, let’s finish dinner together. I promise no more pranks. At least not today.”
You can’t help but smile, the warmth of his embrace melting the last of your anger. “Fine,” you say, leaning into him. “But you owe me. Big time.”
“Deal,” he murmurs, pressing a kiss to your forehead. “Now, what’s next on the menu, chef? You hopefully"
"Kepp dreaming dickhead," You mutter. "I'm off the menu all week because you think you're a comedian"
"Huh?!"

Pairing: Takuma Ino x f!reader
cw: sub Ino, whimpering Ino, pet names (baby, good boy), blowjob, handjob, overstimulation
Author's Note: Someone on ao3 suggested whimpering boyfriend Ino, so here we go! MDNI divider by @/cafekitsune.
It always ends up like this. Snuggle sessions with your boyfriend Ino, where the two of you are innocently basking in each other’s warmth and comfort. Then, of course, things start to get a little frisky when his hands wander from massaging your back tenderly to squeezing your ass with wicked intent. He’s got a naughty smirk on his lips and an obvious bulge protruding from his boxers. You won’t lie; you love how horny he gets just by being around you, just by touchingyou. He really can’t help himself, and you really can’t resist. Especially when he’s been so good to you lately.
You slip his underwear off, wrapping your fingers around his throbbing erection. He sits up on his elbows, watching with half-lidded eyes and his tongue hanging out as your fist works his cock up and down, precum already oozing from the tip. Shiny, glossy, and oh-so-inviting for a taste. You surround him with your lips until he’s to the hilt, the tiniest whimper escaping from his throat. “Shit, baby, you’re driving me crazy,” he groans, waiting for you to move, his legs shaky with anticipation. He reaches for your arousal, fingers toying with your achy clit while you swallow the saliva collecting on your tongue, bobbing up and down his cock. He throws his head back into the pillows, overcome with pleasure. “Fuck baby, oh fuck.” His smalls moans turn into incessant whimpers as he’s pushed to the edge. And because you want tease him just a little bit more, you release him, stroking him until he makes a mess all over his abdomen. When he’s finished, you dip your fingers in it and surround him in your fist once more, coating his entire length in his own orgasm.
“Baby, baby,” he whines, body spasming from overstimulation. “Please. I’m so sensitive.”
Not done playing with him yet, you straddle him, sliding your wet cunt along his shaft. “You don’t want me anymore?” you pout, rocking against him.
He twitches beneath you, clutching the bedsheets tightly between his fingers, stammering, “I do, I do. I just…I can’t…”
“You can, Taku. I know you can,” you purr, leaning down to press your lips against his. He melts into your kiss while you guide yourself onto his cock, riding him slowly until he’s completely hard again inside you. “Good boy.”
He whimpers into your mouth, nodding as you gradually pick up the pace. “Yeah,” he whispers, giving you a weak smile. “I’m a good boy. I’m your good boy.”

🎸 out of my mind ! 💿 track three: something about a beat
guitarist!ino x drummer!reader
summary: it's the annual battle of the bands at the fix, your college campus's iconic live music bar, and this year you're taking the stage as the drummer for indie rock group cursed technique. you know the competition is strong, but no part of you is ready for lead singer and guitarist takuma ino. you lock eyes at the edge of the stage, and something starts—something that might make you feel alive even more than the beat of the drums.
warnings: language, hopeless stupid pining, alcohol, mentions of deceased parent, maki is Fed Up, anxiety, unbearably cute dogs. || sfw. 9k words.
“OKAY, IT’S UP,” Nobara says, grinning at you over her laptop. You’re sprawled across the living room at Takuma’s place, surrounded by a random combination of your band and his while others are in classes. After spending last night mixing the single, Takuma helped Nobara set up an artist profile for the band, and now your music is available on streaming services. Just like that.
“That’s so weird,” you say, grinning as you pull up Spotify on your phone. Next Fix by Cursed Technique. Strange to see your face on there, a photo taken of all of you by some freshman when you last performed at The Fix. Nobara sends the link in your group chat, and Toge responds within seconds.
freak no. 1: FAME freak no. 1: FORTUNE freak no. 1: wait it’s not opening freak no. 1: nvm i’m just stupid
“Does he ever pay attention in class?” Nobara mutters. Maki snorts.
Yuta is also in class, but that means he’s locked in, all his devices on Do Not Disturb. You don’t think Toge’s turned DND on a single time in his life.
“I’m going to Kinji’s!” Kirara shouts from the front entryway, and Yuji leaps to his feet and disappears down the hall, barreling back out of his room seconds later.
“Wait! Can you give this to Panda while you’re there?” He hands her a drive, and Kirara rolls her eyes and takes it.
“You need to slow down every once in a while,” she says, ruffling Yuji’s hair. “Okay, bye. I’ll be back in a few hours.” The dogs follow her to the door and return the living room when she’s gone, curling up on either side of Megumi, who’s busy writing some paper in the corner.
“What was that?” Nobara asks.
“Demo drive for the radio station,” Takuma says. “Panda plays our stuff sometimes. I bet he’d play yours, too.”
“That’d be sick,” Nobara says approvingly. She turns to bother Megumi, poking at him until he takes his headphones off and talks to her, and Yuji strolls into the room and flops down directly on the floor.
“Comfy?” you ask, poking him with a socked foot.
“Mm. Yeah.”
“Ah, look what you did, Kugisaki,” Megumi says, and you look up to see Shiro trotting toward you with her tail wagging, having abandoned her post at her owner’s side.
“That was not my fault! You’re the one who moved.”
“Because you kept poking me!”
You immediately slide off the couch onto the floor, letting Shiro sit in your lap. “Um, excuse me,” Takuma says, offended. You crane your neck to look up at him behind you on the couch. His face is lit up by his computer as he works on a string of code he tried (and failed) to explain to you, and there’s laughter in his eyes despite the affronted tone of his voice.
“Favorite,” you inform him with a wide, cheeky smile. He very maturely sticks his tongue out at you.
“Toge message,” Nobara informs you all, reading off her phone. “He says omg we have four listeners do you think they’re writing slutty fanfiction about us already.” She glances at you. “Petition to remove him from the chat—oh, look, he started sending the wolf memes again.”
Hanging out like this has become natural so quickly you almost forget you haven’t been friends with Shibuya Incident for ages. You feel almost as much at home in the tapestry-covered living room here as you do in the plant-filled kitchen of your own house down the street.
Maki checks her watch, sighing. “We should get going soon. The guys will be back in half an hour.” Then you have rehearsal, even though you’re not one of the three bands performing tomorrow night. When you do take the stage next week, you want to be ready.
Nobara is trying to read Megumi’s texts over his shoulder, which isn’t working out well for her, and he tells Maki, “Yes, please, take your invasive little gremlin home.” He puts his hand right on Nobara’s face and pushes her away, and she screeches and tries to tackle him, but he’s already sitting in a beanbag chair in the corner, so it doesn’t really do much except make Kuro jump on top of them both.
You glance up at Takuma again, still stroking Shiro’s fur while the others start to stand, ready to head home. “You rehearsing today too?”
“I’d hope so,” he shrugs.
“Yes, dipshit, in two hours. If you ever read the group chat,” Megumi says.
Takuma doesn’t seem fazed by Megumi’s irritation and just shrugs. “We have a new song for tomorrow.”
“You didn’t tell me!” You poke at his knee in retribution for his secrecy. “I wanna hear it!”
“You will,” he says. “Tomorrow.”
“Skipper, help, I don’t wanna walk our gremlin home by myself,” Maki calls from the door, and you reluctantly pat Shiro on the head and stand. She follows you to the entryway and sniffs at you while you cram your feet into your sneakers.
“Maki Zenin.” Nobara turns up her nose and crosses her arms over her chest. “If you hated me so much, why didn’t you just say so?”
“Bye!” Yuji shouts from the living room, and you all call out varying goodbyes and noncommittal sounds before making your way out the door and down the block, the afternoon air chilly against your cheeks.
Nobara waits all of ten seconds before spinning around and walking backward, grinning at you mischievously. “I bet Ino wrote a song about you.”
“Oh my god. Shut up,” you laugh. “He didn’t.” You can’t imagine you’ve given him all that much to work with. What would he write, that you like coffee and drums and Megumi’s dogs?
“Why else wouldn’t he show you? Don’t you guys text each other song lyrics like the little romantic fucks you are?” Your face is flaming, and you’re suddenly very grateful for the cool of the wind against your skin. The idea of him writing a song about you plants something weird in your gut—not something bad, just something unexpected and warm and blooming.
You try not to show it and your friends see right through you, Nobara turning back to skip up the drive with a satisfied grin and Maki rolling her eyes at the both of you.
“I’m gonna write a song, too,” Nobara declares, unlocking the door and pushing her way inside. “Skipper and Ino, sitting in a tree. K-I-S-S—”
This time, you and Maki speak in tandem. “Shut up!”
—
“There’s a joke here,” Gojo says, tapping both of his index fingers together while he thinks. “About being a drummer and a journalist. Something about a beat.”
You laugh, jotting another note on the lined paper of your small spiral notebook. “I hate to tell you, but I’ve heard that one before.”
You’re not sure features qualifies as a specific beat, more of a broad category, but your staff isn’t nearly large enough to assign people to smaller specialties. Plus, it’s a college publication, designed for experimentation and growth. Nobody wants to be boxed in yet. That’ll come later, out in the monotony of the real world, and you’ll be confined to some hyperspecific beat like neighborhood crime or high school basketball.
“No!” Gojo cries, dragging his hands down his face like it’s the end of the world. “I can’t believe somebody plagiarized me before I even said it.”
“That’s not how that works,” Utahime cuts in dryly, sliding three shots across the counter to the waiting group of sophomores and then effortlessly throwing together another cocktail.
Gojo leans toward you, shadowing out your notes, and stage-whispers, “You see what I have to put up with?”
You do, actually, see what Utahime has to put up with. She long ago put down a line of blue painter’s tape to divide her side of the bar from Gojo’s, and she preaches frequently that there will be dire consequences if he crosses it.
Of course, he crosses it at every opportunity, and here he is, still.
It’s also just how the two bartenders split up the work, the customers, and you write that down too, that it’s an effective division of labor. “Don’t read my notes,” you tell Gojo as he squints at your writing upside down. “It’ll wreck the journalistic integrity.” He sticks out his bottom lip in a pout that reminds you violently of Toge, who’s taking photos of Utahime as she works.
You glance over to the stage, where Angel is performing the last number of her set, a bouncy, belty song that you recognize from a video she posted earlier this week. The crowd loves it, dancing around and singing along, but still, you think she’ll have a tougher time making it through as the only solo artist remaining in the competition.
You whoop and cheer as she hits her last note, holding it for an ungodly amount of time, and Gojo eventually has to abandon his teasing to do his job. When Toge thinks he’s got enough photos, the two of you slip back into the crowd, Panda commentating on the change of artist as you catch up to your friends.
“And now, here’s your alt rock duo, your boys, the Kamos,” he says as you come to a stop beside Yuta. “Give it up!”
Nobara very loudly gives it up.
“Hi.” Yuta nudges you. “How’s the reporting going?”
“Good.” Noritoshi and Choso settle in on stage, tuning their guitar and bass and making girls swoon in the front row but somehow remaining entirely oblivious to it. “You’re not going home tomorrow, right?”
Yuta shakes his head. This weekend is fall break, which just means that there were no classes today. You spent the first day of your three-day weekend cramming for midterms.
Toge’s heading out after this and Nobara will leave early in the morning, but Maki and Yuta will be here for the weekend. You wonder about Takuma and his band, but you can’t ask right now—they’re all backstage, waiting to go on after the Kamos.
The boys in question, when they’re not doing covers, have incredibly nonsensical song names that have little to nothing to do with their lyrics. The first track of theirs you ever heard was called Song About the Time My Dog Got Lost for Three Hours.
“Okay,” Choso says after their cover of a song by The Smiths. “This one’s called Please Don’t Tell Your Mom I Was At Your House Past Curfew.”
He and Noritoshi then proceed to play the most upbeat, energizing alt rock shit you’ve ever heard. You love these guys, and the crowd does too, the way they don’t take themselves too seriously but they’re genuinely talented. But it’s making you nervous for Takuma and his band, because only one group goes on tonight. Only one.
No, you think, shrugging it off. They got this.
When Shibuya Incident finally walks on stage, the ensuing roar of applause before they even do anything eases whatever worries you might have had. They were slotted at the end of tonight’s set for a reason. Everyone loves them.
Without prelude, they launch into a song you recognize from their EP, a fast-paced track with a pretty simple chord progression that gets entirely flipped on its head in the bridge. You let Yuta spin you around as you dance with the rest of the crowd, the lights and sound washing over you. Yuji’s in his element, Kirara is fucking killing it, and Megumi—as always—is the rock the band stands on, unerring tempo and steady presence keeping everyone on track.
After the song finishes with a crazy riff from Kirara, and the crowd takes a minute to freak out and then slowly wind down, Takuma grabs the mic to address the audience.
“Hi again,” he says, scanning the clusters of people from his place on the low stage. His gaze lands on you and your friends, and he smiles a little wider. “That was Godspeed. We’re gonna slow it down a bit for our next song. It’s a new one. We’re calling it Curious.”
Nobara practically launches herself over Toge to get to you and shake you by the shoulders. “What did I say?” she hisses.
“Oh my god,” you say, shoving her off. “They haven’t even started yet.” But you look back at Takuma to find he hasn’t stopped looking at you.
To your surprise, the instrumentals don’t start first. Most of Shibuya Incident’s music opens with a riff or a fill or at least four bars of introduction. But this time, Takuma leans into the mic and starts singing, just a low “ooooh,” and the rest of the band comes in one by one—Megumi, then Kirara, then Yuji. Kirara’s harmonizing on a higher note, and the effect is a slow, dissonant build that makes you lock in, all anticipation.
Then Takuma tugs the mic from the stand and sings,“I see your eyes, curious, curious, you wanna know why the sky’s so goddamn blue. I hear your voice, curious, curious, you’re asking me if I’d ever fall for you.”
And as you listen, Nobara’s smile just gets wider and wider, and Takuma keeps making fleeting eye contact with you, and you realize abruptly that she was right.
This song is about you.
Takuma’s said it to you before, in passing, how he likes the way you look at the world—through a journalist’s lens, curious about how everything works, always searching for unseen answers.
“Wish I could see my life like you do,” he and Kirara sing in unison. “Wish I could walk the streets each night… wonderin’ if the full moon sees you, but I just keep lookin’, lookin’ down at the time.”
You’re transfixed, just like the first night you saw Takuma perform live, and you couldn’t tear your eyes away from the stage if you tried. Someone should write a story about him, you think. This man could be on the cover of Rolling Stone and you wouldn’t question it.
God, you’re so far gone, aren’t you?
When the set is over, the last song finishing with a long, drawn-out chord, Takuma thanks the crowd and hands the mic off to Panda to take over. As the band disappears one by one into the backstage area, he lays out the voting process.
“The voting period will last ten minutes, assuming no technical difficulties,” he says. “QR codes, as usual, are posted around the bar. If you’re a competitor, you can’t vote. Make sure you’re logged into your .edu accounts or you won’t be able to access the form…”
Your fingers are tapping nervously at your thighs, the crowd around you already glued to their phone screens. The band isn’t back out on the floor yet—Panda will call all three artists up at the end of the voting period and announce the finalist live.
Sweat is starting to pool in the palms of your clammy hands, and you wipe it on your jeans, anxious. To you, there’s no question. But it’s not up to you.
“Relax,” Yuta says, putting a reassuring hand on your shoulder. “It won’t even be close, Skip.”
After the longest ten minutes of your life, Hana Kurusu, the Kamos, and Shibuya Incident join Panda back on stage, a dramatic spotlight bouncing between each artist as Panda draws out the announcement. “And the artist from tonight moving on to the finals in two weeks is…”
“Just say it,” Maki huffs beside you, and Yuta chuckles and nudges her with a shoulder. She tries to hide the slight upturn of her lips, but that’s not going to slide past you.
You’ll tease her later. For now—
“Shibuya Incident!”
The reaction is explosive, both on the floor and the stage. Yuji practically leaps onto Kirara’s back, and Takuma’s face goes slack in surprise before a shy smile works its way across his spotlit features, Megumi being his nonchalant, unaffected self in the midst of it all. Nobara is screaming, and you’re yelling at the top of your lungs, Toge whooping and snapping photos as the Kamos and Hana crowd the band, congratulating them on the victory.
Takuma looks out into the crowd again and you wave, smiling unabashedly, so fucking proud and excited and thinking maybe, maybe, if you make it too, you’ll be facing off against each other, and wouldn’t that be something?
Maybe you shouldn’t be so thrilled. He’s the competition, after all.
But if he wins for going up there and singing curious, curious with his eyes locked on yours, you suppose it wouldn’t be all that bad.
—
Most of Saturday passes in a barrage of classwork and inconsistent, snacky meals in between, the diet of a harried college student, ramen and chips and whatever actual food Yuta leaves for you in the fridge. He’s back from work by three, and Maki wraps up her own work around the same time you do, late afternoon creeping into evening. The three of you are curled up in the living room, the TV on while Yuta and Maki try to pretend they’re not looking at each other.
You need to get them alone.
you: are you busy takuma: not at all takuma: what’s up? you: mind if i crash your house?
You glance up and swear Yuta has somehow, in the last two seconds, moved closer to Maki on the couch.
you: i think yuta and maki need some ~ALONE TIME~ takuma: TEA takuma: sorry kirara told me to stop saying that in response to everything that happens ever takuma: it’s fun tho
“I’m going to Takuma’s,” you announce, and Maki raises a brow at you.
“Again?”
“Sue me for having friends.”
Yuta’s brows crease a bit at the word friends, but he doesn’t comment. With a furtive glance back, you grab your shoes and slip out the door, successfully leaving Maki and Yuta alone in the house for an indeterminate amount of time.
Please, you think. One of them has to make a fucking move soon.
Takuma answers the door before you can knock. “Hey.”
“No pups today?” you ask as you step past him into the entryway, kicking off your shoes.
“Sadly,” Takuma says. “Fushiguro took ‘em with him, wherever he went. Ah, man. Did you only come over for them?” His tone is teasing as he closes the front door behind you, trading the October cold for the warmth of the house. “Afraid I’m a letdown.”
“Takuma,” you scold at his self-deprecation. “You’re basically an excited puppy yourself, so—”
“Hey!” he squawks, and then thinks about it and tilts his head, conceding. “Fine. Maybe. Yeah, okay.”
“What have you been up to?” you ask as the two of you make your way to the living room.
“Procrastination. Guitar instead of homework, mostly. You?”
“Same,” you sigh. “Well, not the guitar part. But I should have been way further ahead on my homework by now.” You shrug. You’ll get it done; you always do.
You settle in easily on the couch, and the two of you boot up the Wii and play a few rounds of Mario Kart because someone left the disc in. And when you’ve both beaten each other enough times to lose count, Takuma mentions something about your single and you realize you haven’t checked the stats.
“You can see more on a computer,” he says, and you follow him up to his room, where he cedes control of the device to you. You pull up the artist profile and grin at the steady upward climb of listeners. It’s not a ton, but this only went up on Thursday.
“We haven’t even done anything to promote this,” you admit, spinning in Takuma’s desk chair to face him. “I don’t even know how people are finding it.”
He immediately looks down, which means he knows something. You nudge him with your foot. “What? What does that face mean? Takuma.”
“I maybe gave Panda a drive of the mix,” he shrugs, talking fast like the meaning of the words might elude you if he mumbles enough. “And he maybe played it at the radio station earlier today. Several times.”
A wave of affection crashes into you so fast that you jump up and throw your arms around him without thinking, laughing into his shoulder. “You didn’t have to do that!” You pull back, grinning. “That was really sweet. Thank you. Seriously.”
“Ah, it was nothin’.” He reaches up to scratch at the back of his neck, a gesture you’ve come to recognize as self-conscious.
“Not nothing,” you say softly. He smiles.
After a moment, he glances at the window and seems to come to a decision. “Hey,” he says.
“Hey yourself.”
“Wanna go out on the roof?”
You blink, processing the words, instinctively looking to his window. You’ve never really realized it before, but it opens out onto a flat expanse of shingles, a perfect lookout right outside Takuma’s bedroom.
Your grin is answer enough, and he unlatches the window and pulls it open. He glances back at you, up and down, and you feel yourself blush before you realize he’s taking in what you’re wearing. He grabs a thick jacket from the closet and tosses it to you, then shrugs one on himself and leads the way, gripping the window frame with one hand and pulling himself outside. After a moment of consideration, he reaches back in and grabs his acoustic guitar by the neck from its place against the wall, pulling it out with him.
When the window shuts behind you, you’re immediately grateful for the protection of the extra layer. Even with your hands balled in the sleeves of your hoodie, it’s chilly out here.
You’re surprised by how much of the campus you can see spread out in the distance. It’s early evening, but the days are getting shorter, the sun a misleading blaze of heat in the otherwise cold hour.
“This,” you say, “is fucking awesome.”
“Right? I called dibs on the room as soon as we toured. For this.” He grins, leaning back on his palms, legs spread out in front of him. You lie back on the roof, letting the cool surface seep through your hood, staring up at the sky.
“So Maki and Yuta,” he says, shaking his head fondly. “Are they finally a thing?”
“I don’t know, but if they’re gonna do anything about it, it’s not gonna be while anyone else is home.” You shrug, or at least do whatever approximation of shrugging you can when you’re bundled in a bulky hoodie and jacket and lying on a roof.
Honestly, Yuta and Maki are some of your favorite people on this planet, and you can’t imagine anyone else who really deserves them. They’re the de facto mom and dad of your group—as in, Yuta is the band mom and Maki’s the gruff father who won’t admit his affection for the pet he didn’t want to get but ended up loving anyway.
“Man, I’m glad I wasn’t around when Kirara and Hakari were in their pining phase,” Takuma chuckles. He pulls his legs in, sitting cross-legged, and picks up the guitar, idly tuning it as he speaks. “Then there’s Itadori, probably picks up girls everywhere he goes and has never once realized it.”
“What about Megumi?” You let your head loll to the side, looking at Takuma with the guitar settled in his lap.
“Fushiguro? I don’t know, man, he doesn’t tell us anything. He has like, resting yearning face. I’ve got no idea. I don’t even know where he is right now, just that he’s supposed to be back really late.”
“That means the dogs will be back?” you say hopefully.
Takuma shakes his head, strumming another chord, and another, fingers moving deftly across the frets. “I’m not enough for you, huh?”
“I said no such thing.”
He plucks out a happy little melody on the guitar, looking at you. “Wanna learn?”
You sit up, your hood falling back off your head in the process. “Really?”
In answer, he hands you the guitar, scooting closer to you to show you where to place your fingers. You’ve been around your bandmates enough to know the basics, but you let him teach you anyway, giggling a little when he guides you through a three-chord progression and says, “Damn, you’re a natural.”
He leans back and stares at the sky, listening to you play. Eventually you add a few other basic chords into the mix, varying your strumming patterns, already feeling the strain in your fingertips from the unfamiliar press of the strings.
“So,” you say, still idly messing around on a G chord. Takuma props himself up on his elbows, looking over at you. “What was the incident in Shibuya? Have you been to Shibuya?”
He snorts. “Nope. Honestly, it was more to make people ask the question. You know in the Marvel movies, how Hawkeye and Black Widow are always talking about Budapest?”
“And nobody knows what the hell happened there,” you say, laughing. “Ah. I see.”
“I’ve never even been to Japan,” Takuma admits. “Fushiguro has, though. Maybe he had an incident in Shibuya. Who knows?”
G, C, D. D, C, G. You play the chords over and over, strumming softly, slowly, letting your finger catch on each of the strings, then five of them, then four.
“This is a really nice guitar.”
“Yeah.” There’s a beat of silence that makes you glance up, weighted differently than the usual pauses in conversation. Takuma is sitting up now, knees pulled loosely to his chest. “Was my dad’s.”
“He taught you to play,” you remember aloud, recalling your conversation in the coffee shop. But now you’re hung up on that word: was. Part of you doesn’t want to ask, but part of you feels like his words are a sort of quiet invitation, like he wants to tell you, but doesn’t want to force it. “I… is he…?”
“He died when I was twelve,” Takuma admits, eyes fixed on the sky. “Uh, car accident. It was stupid, some issue with the other guy’s car. Couldn’t stop it.” You’ve never heard his voice like this before, taut, oddly thin. Carefully, gently, you set the guitar on the roof beside you, watching him.
“Were you…”
“In the car?” Takuma sniffs. “Ah. Yeah.”
“Oh,” you breathe, and that’s what it is, more of a breath than a word. “I—Takuma…”
When he laughs, there’s no humor in it. It’s a hollow kind of chuckle, one that says everything he can’t. “It’s why I learned to skate, actually,” he says quietly, not meeting your eyes. “I’d get everywhere that way. I didn’t—want to drive, I guess. Got my license late and everything. I think people thought I was just a slacker.”
Whatever words you might scrounge up feel inadequate for a grief this large. You don’t want to pity him, and you don’t want to dismiss him, and that’s always the problem with hard conversations, isn’t it? What a line to walk.
“You’re not a slacker,” you say eventually, and he raises a brow at you. “I mean, maybe you procrastinate coding projects to a worrying extent, but you always get it done.” You smile thinly. “You don’t give up in any way that matters, Takuma. I like that about you.”
He chuckles. “Nanami said something like that, once.” His eyes go far-away again, just for a second. “He’s kind of the closest thing… like… I don’t know. I’ve known Nanami for a really long time. He was my dad’s friend. And I guess he sort of became a father figure, after…”
He shrugs. “It’s probably a big part of why I decided to go here. That, and it’s not too far from my mom’s. I don’t know that she’d have been thrilled if I went somewhere farther.”
“You’re not home,” you say carefully, a question but not question. “For break?”
“She’s on a business trip,” he says. “So not much point. But I’ll see her at Christmas, at least.”
For a while the silence stretches out comfortably between you, like a weighted blanket. You can’t ignore it, but it isn’t unwelcome. At some point you scooted closer to him, and now you sit side by side, only the layers of your jackets separating you.
“Thank you for telling me,” you say eventually, soft, unwilling to break the quiet. He nods.
“You didn’t go home either,” he points out, an unspoken question in the spaces between words. “Is it just ‘cause you’re from so far away, or…”
“Yeah. A Friday off didn’t feel like enough of a break to warrant a flight back.” But that’s not all of it. His silence tells you he knows it, too. He’s been so candid with you all night. You can share this part of yourself, you decide.
There’s something about Takuma, anyway, that makes you want to tell him things. You want to know him, and you want him to know you—you now, here, at school, but also you there, home, in the past.
“I haven’t been home since July,” you admit, hugging your knees to your chest, mirroring him. “My town is… small. I liked it when I was little. But the older I got the more I started to feel, just—I don’t know, stifled?”
Your hometown used to feel huge, like you could explore it forever on your Razor scooter and never find all its secrets. But you grew, and the town didn’t grow with you, and suddenly you were standing outside your high school realizing you knew every corner of the self-proclaimed suburban city, every street and coffee shop and alley. You’ve always been curious. And at some point, there wasn’t anything left in that place for you to be curious about.
“I love my home. I love my parents. It’s just… I needed to get out. I don’t think they ever really understood that.”
It’s easier to admit things when you’re looking straight ahead like this, out over the lines and curves of buildings, picking out street lamps, watching a few stray cars make their way around slow corners.
“Is it what you wanted it to be?” he asks quietly. “Here, I mean.” He nods out to the vast stretch of campus, spread across the city. So many corners you’ve been here years and haven’t found them all.
Campus is weird on break, you muse, looking out over the darkness. A whole parallel world for you to explore, the shadowed version of the place. A video game map on single-player, a dead server. Hardly any lights on in the windows, no kids out on the street. Like a ghost town. But it still doesn’t feel empty to you. There’s so much promise in it.
“Yeah,” you answer after a moment, soft. “Yeah, I think it is.”
A ghost town that isn’t lonely, somehow. You could write a song about it, you think. Friends with all the dead in my ghost town. The phrase plays itself out in your head, and it sounds like something moodier than your band usually goes for. It sounds like Shibuya Incident.
You wonder if this is what it means to be in a relationship—not a romantic one, necessarily, but a friendship, or any kind of bond between two creative people. If it’s this, the sharing of intellectual property with another person to the extent that their voice and yours start to blend.
It’s in the way Nobara can finish your sentences when you’re throwing out potential verses, scrambling for rhymes. How Toge and Yuta can anticipate each other’s movements, match chord progressions without talking about them. How Maki slips into your tempo seamlessly, every single time.
And now your lyrics sound like something his band would play. Maybe Takuma’s songwriting will start sounding like yours, too.
You don’t think you’d mind.
“Can I tell you something?” Takuma murmurs after a moment, sounding hesitant.
You rest a cheek on your knees, hands clasped together in front of your shins, facing him. “Mhm.”
“That song last night,” he whispers, and he’s not looking at you, just staring out at the rapidly darkening campus. “It was about you. And how you—I don’t know, the way you look at things. Like they’re always so full of potential. I wish I could do that. You just see things and want to know more. I like… watching you, being curious.” He pauses for a beat and then quickly adds, “Not in like, a creepy way! Just—I don’t know.”
A chuckle slips through your lips against your will, the darkness hopefully hiding the color in your cheeks. Maybe you can blame it on the cold. “Watching?” you ask, teasing. “I can’t imagine I’m all that intriguing. There’s a lot of cool people around here, y’know.”
“Skip,” he murmurs, and now his eyes are locked on yours. “I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone like you.”
Every nerve in your body is hyperaware of his proximity, and his hand reaches up to cup your jaw, the touch ghosting over you, barely there, hesitant. A nonverbal question. Is this okay?
You lean into the warmth, letting his breath wash over you, mingling with your own in the space between your lips, smaller and smaller and smaller.
He’s watching you, closely, giving you a chance to pull away. So many words exchanged tonight, but you don’t need any for this.
You don’t pull away.
It’s slow at first, and soft, and hesitant. The shingles dig into the heel of your hand as you lean forward on one arm, a grainy feeling on your fingertips, in the grooved imprints left by the guitar strings. You find your free hand moving up to his shoulder, pushing, guiding him down until his back is pressed against the roof and you’re over him, lips locked with his. You look at him, and he’s so full of potential. You want to know everything about him, you want to know how he works, you want to ask questions. And you do, with your tongue along the seam of his lips, and your hand tangled in his hair, and his breath mixing with yours in the air. It’s near full dark now, feeling later than it really is, evening in autumn.
You’re not cold anymore.
He deepens the kiss, body coming up to meet yours, and you feel like maybe this roof is the top of the whole world, because how could you ever feel higher than this?
“Takuma,” you murmur, and you kiss him again, and you don’t think you’ve ever felt this way before, but you’ll do maybe anything in the world to feel this way again.
And then a sharp, deep sound makes you jump, scrambling to sit up on the shingles, breathing heavy from the kiss and the noise. Did that come from inside or out?
“What—”
“Oh, crap,” Takuma groans, pulling open the window. “Someone’s home.” He looks back at you, cheeks flushed from the cold or the kiss or both, looking a little helpless, a little apologetic, and you can’t help the small laugh that bursts from you at the absurdity of the situation. You feel like a teenager getting caught by your parents.
“We should…” He nods toward the window. You hand him the guitar, then crawl back over to the window and slip inside after him, the warmth a stark relief from the temperature you’ve gotten so used to. Your heart is a jackhammer, rapidly pecking away at the once-stable structure of yourself.
You kissed him.
You kissed Takuma.
Your phone buzzes in your pocket, and you pull it out with still-cold hands.
utah: [1 Image Attachment] utah: dinner?
Admittedly, the pasta does look amazing, and your stomach grumbles as if on cue.
“I should go,” you say awkwardly, holding up the phone for Takuma to see.
“Uh, yeah, uh—for sure, no problem, I should go see what’s up down there anyway,” he says after a beat of hesitation. “I’ll see you, uh…?”
“Around?” you finish, laughing slightly.
“Yeah,” he echoes with an amused half-smile as you make your way down the stairs. “Around.”
—
You’re freaking out.
It’s 4:31 on Monday afternoon, you’ve been listening to the same song on repeat for an hour, and you’re freaking the fuck out.
After Saturday night, you didn’t talk about it. You kissed him on the roof and your heart turned into a hummingbird and you were warm all over, and then the front door slammed and you nearly jumped out of your skin, and Megumi was back early and Takuma had no idea why, and you pet the dogs and then slipped out, wanting to give them their space.
And you haven’t talked about it. You haven’t had time. Sunday was a mess of cramming for midterms and your housemates returning from break and you threw yourself into your studies and tried not to remember, but now…
The stupid fucking switch in the back of your brain has flipped itself on and you can’t turn it off, all worry and criticism and hypothetical worst-case scenarios and you’re giving too much too fast, Skipper, you know better than this!
How many people in your tiny town fell in love young and grew to resent each other? How many of your high school friends grew up with divorced parents? How many breakups have you seen in your two and a half years at this university, how many tears and shouting matches in public halls, how many friend groups falling apart because two people fell in and out of love?
The thing is, you know you’re panicking about nothing. Takuma hasn’t asked anything of you. It was just a kiss. He is not your boyfriend. This is not a contract.
But if you talk about it, it could be, and you don’t understand why that scares you so much. Do you have commitment issues? What the fuck is your problem?
You probably wouldn’t have a problem at all, if you’d just had the time Saturday night to figure out what the kiss meant. But now that a whole day has passed and you haven’t seen him and you don’t know for sure, your mind keeps wandering down paths it should have stayed away from.
What if it’s a friends with benefits situation and you’ve just read too much into it? Maybe this is all he wants, making out, spending late nights together getting physical. Maybe that’s all. A heated makeout session on a roof doesn’t mean he feels the way you do. And do you even know how you feel? Fucking hell.
It’s the anxiety talking, the more logical part of you says, the part that sounds an awful lot like Maki. Your friends aren’t around to tell you how stupid you’re being, so the only texts you and Takuma have sent since Saturday night are playlists and song lyrics skirting around whatever truths you’re trying and failing to articulate.
Do I Wanna Know floats from the speaker on your desk, your phone next to your head on the bed, facedown and dormant. Do I wanna know if this feeling goes both ways?
Your door slams open and you jump up, whirling around to find Maki with her arms crossed, leaning on the frame. “Alright,” she says. “That’s the tenth time I’ve heard that godforsaken song. What the fuck is up with you?”
When you don’t respond, she steps inside and closes the door behind her, pauses the music, and then makes herself comfortable on the edge of your bed. “Talk to me,” she says. “You’re driving yourself crazy.” The words stall in your throat, useless, stagnant things as you avoid her knowing stare, instead staring at the popcorn ceiling until it blurs.
Maki sighs and shifts entirely onto the bed, turning herself to face you.
“I didn’t know you were home,” you say lamely.
“You’re driving me crazy, Skip,” she tries, and she knows you so fucking well, because the guilt trip is exactly what dislodges all those words built up in the back of your mouth—she breaks the dam and you spill your soul onto the quilted comforter, rambling, a rush of truths and things you thought you’d hidden from yourself but you can’t anymore. And she just listens, not looking away once.
You tell her everything: that you know you catch feelings fast, too fast. That despite your bleeding heart, you haven’t really been in a long-term relationship since high school. That you think of the future, of all the places you want to go, all the things you want to do, and there’s no guy in those dreams, and the thought of restructuring the life you’ve planned out for yourself around a boy who might be temporary is too much to even fathom. That—
“I kissed him,” you say breathlessly, bordering on hysterical, and you feel so stupid, this worked up over something so small, something that should be good. “I kissed him and now it feels real and now I’m freaking out.”
“I can see that,” Maki says calmly. “Let me ask you something. What is the worst thing that could happen, if you date him and it doesn’t last?”
“I…” You chew on your bottom lip, mind spinning through every bad outcome. “He could end up hating me, Maki. I could get some crazy job and have to leave, or he would come with me and leave his whole life behind and then he’d grow to resent me and we’d just be in some kind of hellish limbo until one of us snapped. Or he could—he could leave me, or we could try long distance and he could fall in love with somebody else, or I could, or—or—”
You flounder for a second, realizing your biggest worry is the one most immediate, the one most central to your life as it exists right now.
You’ve been sitting here thinking about big-picture things that are so far out, trying to make the feeling curdling in your gut feel like a valid reaction to a major life event. But that’s not what this is.
You’re just really, stupidly, pathetically scared that Takuma kissed you and didn’t mean it.
“Or—I guess that’s not the issue. Not really,” you admit quietly, not looking at Maki. She probably already knows. She has a way of knowing exactly what’s bothering you and just asking the right questions, getting you to talk yourself out of whatever hole your anxious mind has dug.
“I—it was just a kiss. What if he doesn’t want something serious right now, and I like him this way and he just wants something casual? I can’t do casual, Maki,” you say, raking a hand through your hair. “And it could fuck up this thing we have going. Yuji and Toge get along so well, and Nobara and the boys and Kirara, and Megumi’s your cousin, and I don’t wanna cause some weird, awkward rift, you know what I mean?”
Because it’s been so good, getting to know them. You don’t want to fuck up the dynamic just because you caught feelings too fast.
Maki leans back against your wall, humming as she thinks this over. “Okay. First of all, take a step back. Do you actually think you and Ino dating or not dating or whatever would mean I stop talking to my cousin? Or Nobara to the guys?” She raises a brow at you, unimpressed. “Seriously. I love you, Skipper, but you do not have that much power. These relationships existed before you knew Ino. Yuji is incapable of having conflict with anybody. And Toge doesn’t give a fuck about awkward relationship drama, he just wants to play Smash.”
As she speaks, you can feel your heart settling back into its home in your chest. Maki always knows what to say. Always.
“Second: Let me put it this way.” She levels you with a serious look. “You are so worked up about all these incredibly hypothetical situations. If you shut this down now, if you don’t act on what happened on Saturday, you’re still going to be worked up about hypotheticals. They’ll just be different ones. I know you, Skipper, you’re gonna drown yourself in what ifs. So you have to pick the lesser evil. There’s an unknown factor either way. Which one is gonna be worse?”
You groan, faceplanting into your bedspread. In the process, your forehead must hit play on your phone, because all of a sudden Arctic Monkeys blasts through the JBL again and Maki is grabbing your phone and saying, “Absolutely not. Nope. We are done with that.”
You look up at her helplessly. “Do I wanna know?” you choke out, half-laughing. “Because if I’m taking this out of proportion, if he doesn’t feel this way and I’m just another girl he kissed—”
“You’re not,” she says firmly. “Are you kidding me? Skip. That boy kisses the ground you walk on.” She shakes her head, some mix of fondness of exasperation flashing across her face. “You already know. The question isn’t if he likes you, or if you like him. It’s whether you’re gonna let it play out or shut it down before it has a chance to.”
Your door slams open, and Nobara strolls in and puts her hands on her hips. She glares at Maki and then at you.
“Please tell me I’m wrong,” she says, and you know you’re in for it, “but I believe you both had significant relationship developments this weekend and didn’t immediately call me? What the fuck? Spill.”
Abruptly, you feel like the worst friend in the world. Not necessarily because you haven’t filled Nobara in—she hasn’t been home—but because Maki is flushing pink, and you left her alone with Yuta on purpose, and it’s Monday, and you haven’t even asked what happened.
You look at Nobara. “Close the door.”
She does, but she doesn’t sit down, choosing instead to pace the room as she speaks. “Exhibit A: the plants have name tags and the handwriting is not Yuta’s. Exhibit B: I just came from down the street and Ino is acting weird as fuck.”
You sit straight up, suddenly on high alert. “Weird how? Did he say anything?”
“No. Like, the entire time. That’s the weird as fuck part.”
You turn to Maki, trying to read her. “Okay, what happened with Yuta? Was it when I left? Because if I wasn’t obvious enough—“
“You were very obvious, thank you,” Maki says, her blush deepening. “Uh, we made dinner. As you know.”
“It was good.”
Maki is pointedly looking everywhere but at you and Nobara, gaze darting from the ceiling to the bedspread to the door, as if she might escape the conversation. You hadn’t even noticed the plant name tags. That’s maybe the most sappy gesture that’s ever come from Maki Zenin.
“Mm. Yeah. Uh,” she says, eloquently. “We might have kissed. We might be… together.”
“Maki!” you and Nobara both scream, which results in Toge nearly breaking down your bedroom door five seconds later.
“What?” he demands. He clocks Maki’s bright red face and grins widely. “Aha! Yes. Good.”
“Wh—”
“Yuta won’t look me in the eyes, so I figured. You wanted to tell us all at once?”
Maki nods sheepishly.
“Too late!” Toge says cheerfully. “And he’s not home. So we can take this quality girls’ time to—”
“You are a man.”
“That’s the first time you’ve ever said that to me,” Toge tells Nobara, hand over his heart.
She swats at him in response and flops onto your floor, and Toge drops down beside her, you and Maki leaning over the edge of your bed to see them both.
"I ate your love pasta," you tell Maki, and she groans.
"This is why I don't tell you people things."
After the appropriate appoint of freaking out about Maki and Yuta (of course I knew, I always know, Nobara says), they make you go through the whole of Saturday night in detail.
You leave out the part about Takuma’s dad. That doesn’t feel like your story to tell.
When you get to I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone like you, Nobara blinks at you, and the innocent expression on her face means whatever she’s about to say is anything but. “So he told you you’re not like other girls?”
“Oh my god,” you groan, dragging your hands down your face.
“Oh, shit, Skipper!” Toge nearly shouts from the floor. “We have to go, like, two minutes ago.”
“Shit!” You scramble off the bed, shoving your laptop into your bag and weaving around Nobara, who has made no move to get off the floor. You and Toge have your usual Monday night class time to do field reporting, and you’re meeting up with Geto and Utahime.
The front door clicks open and closed, and you grin at Maki, who goes red. Yuta’s home. God, you wish you could stay for this.
“Hi, Yuta! Bye, Yuta!” you call on the way out the door, patting him on the head, and Toge follows suit with a much more aggressive motion that messes up Yuta’s hair.
“Oh, hi! Um. Bye?” Yuta’s startled laugh follows you out the door, and then you’re on your way.
You’re always on your way back to The Fix, eventually.
—
Utahime, notably a happier person in general when Gojo’s not around, lets Toge into the back to get some photos of the storeroom. That leaves you alone with Geto, back on the same stool as last time, phone on the counter as you watch him work, talking as he goes.
“Finished inventory,” he says, typing something rapidly on his laptop, “and now it’s budgeting. And yeah, that’s about what it looks like on the day to day. What else did you want to know?”
Geto is remarkably easy to talk to. He’s soft-spoken and articulate, a good listener, and you find yourself forgetting it’s an interview after a while, lost in conversation. You learn that he studied business in school, so opening an establishment like this wasn’t much of a stretch. He handles the finances and hiring, and he’s the one working with Panda on the Battle of the Bands. Gojo and Utahime bartend, Nanami is security, and Shoko handles everything else. It’s a small team, he says, but they work.
“I wanted to be able to be home for the girls when they were growing up, and this wound up being a great way to do that, schedule-wise,” he tells you. “And now they’re here, which is great. I wouldn’t say I ever saw myself opening a bar, back in college, but now that I’m here and Shoko and I have been running the place for a while, I’m not sure where else I ever could’ve ended up, y’know?”
You nod, head propped in your hand with your elbow on the counter. “So is this the dream? The endgame?” you ask. “Think you’ll stay a while?”
“Well,” he says, closing the laptop, “I think it comes down to doing something because you love it, not because other people love that you do it. Though right now, both of those things are true, which is fortunate for me." He leans on the bar counter, head tilted as he considers his words.
"If the work makes you happy, if the people there make you feel the same way, I think that’s worth hanging on to," he says. "If I ever stop loving the work, I suppose I’ll move on. I don’t see that happening, really, but if it does, I’ll roll with it. Whatever comes after.”
“That makes sense.” You sigh, leaning back in your chair. “Man, I wish the career thing was that clear-cut now. I know I have time, but it’s weird to think about.”
“Would you ever go further than this with the band, you think?” he asks, seeming genuinely curious. “Or is the journalism thing pretty much what your heart’s set on?”
You’ve thought about it. Drumming makes you feel alive like very few other things do, but you love writing, reporting, meeting people and telling their stories. You want to go for editor-in-chief next year when Tsumiki graduates, but the reality is that you won’t have so much time for the band if you get the job. And you love your band.
Not that it’ll be the same, anyway, without Maki and Yuta. That’s something you don’t love to think about.
“I don’t know,” you confess, sheepishly realizing you’re still recording, that you’re supposed to be the one asking the questions. “I don’t think… that the band is ever necessarily going to be a professional thing. Maki and Yuta have all these big career plans. And it’s like, how much do I invest in that now, knowing it’s not… forever? When the journalism thing, the career, might be? I don’t know.”
“You know, I don’t think it matters all that much whether it’s forever,” Geto shrugs. “If it gave you what you needed at the time, wouldn’t it be worth it?”
He glances up at you, taking in the lines of your face, the tapping of your fingers against your other arm. You kind of feel like he sees something you don’t.
“Here’s some unsolicited advice, kid. On the record. Maybe life is short, maybe not. But regardless, your heart is not a finite thing.” His eyes are soft but not sad, serious but with a sort of levity that’s wise and not regretful. You think, idly, that you would find it very hard not to trust him. “If you’ve got something, love it while you have it.”
Something tells you he’s not talking about the band anymore. Or maybe that’s just you, looking for answers where there aren’t any.
“Thanks, Geto,” you say, turning off the recording. “This has been really helpful.”
Your heart is not a finite thing. And you think you’ve made up your mind.

——THE CAFE WAS RATHER busy with more people than you were expecting. But what had really caught your attention as soon as you entered was the smiling, and rather adorable, but strangely familiar cashier.
You had to blink a few times as you made eye contact with Ino, quickly forgetting what you even came to the establishment for. Your feet were moving to greet the man without a second thought and since there was no line, you were all too quick to approach him.
“Ino?” You called out in a surprised tone, to which a smile spread across his face.
“Hey there pretty lady,” He greeted cheerfully, “Never thought I’d see you here.”
You scoff, “Uh, I could say the same to you? I thought you were a bartender… what’re you doing here?”
He laughs a bit, “What, a man can’t work two jobs?” Ino teases, “At night I’m there and during the day I’m here.”
“How long have you been working two jobs?” You asked curiously, placing your hands on the counter and leaning forward a bit.
You weren’t trying to flirt but it was like your body language had changed over the months of seducing people. Thus, the slight movement of leaning forward caused a sliver of cleavage to be exposed, and from the angle Ino was looking at, well, your eyes seemed all too seductive.
“Uh,” He has to blink out of his thoughts and really focus his eyes on yours, “A-A few months.”
Your head weighs to the side, “Are you okay?”
“Huh, yeah, why?” He stammers.
“You’re stuttering,” You point out, taunting the man with a smile.
It was supposed to be a friendly motion but to him, he definitely thought you were flirting with him.
Ino clears his throat and his cheeks go red, “I told you before, I’m not that great with eye contact. It makes me nervous.”
You chuckle, “Uhuh…”
“A-Anyway,” He glances off to the side, “Did you want to order something?”
“Huh,” Your eyes drag up to the menu and you genuinely forgot all that you came for. “Oh, uh, I wasn’t planning on getting anything. I just saw you and wanted to come say hi.”
“Oh,” Ino chuckles and he meets your eyes for a moment, “We do have pretty good sweets here though.”
“Yeah? What do you suggest then?” You ask with a smile on your face, the idea of food always makes you happy.
The male looks up to the same menu you’d been looking at and he skims the items, “Hmmm…” Ino settles on something and then he looks back to you, “Maybe the-,” He jumps a bit and you see the way his eyes widen.
You raise a brow, confused as to why he reacted like that all of a sudden. Then, your question is answered when you see hands placed on the counter beside yours, along with your body being trapped between an all too familiar pair of arms.
You stare down at the hands beside your own, noticing the familiar veins, different sets of rings, and a black hair tie accessorizing the man’s skin. Then, you feel his crotch press up against your ass and a pair of lips latch onto the side of your neck, the sudden closeness and abrupt contact scaring the absolute shit out of you.
An all too familiar scent of cologne rushes into your nose and you knew it was Choso who’d just appeared so suddenly. The man straightens himself up behind you and you get chills as he moves his large hands to your waist, holding you in a claiming manner as his lips move along the side of your neck.
Kiss after kiss is placed upon you and you feel almost awkward as your body tenses while Ino looks scared shitless. Choso flicks his gaze over to the poor brown-haired cashier and you can’t see it but he sends him a menacing glare.
Prying his lips from you for only a moment, “Why’d you two stop talking?” Choso asks, his voice low and dull.
You swallowed and just barely managed to look at him out of the corner of your eye, “Maybe because someone came up to us so suddenly.” You comment.
Choso moves his head away from your neck so that he can meet your gaze fully, “You came to see me but you ended up over here talking to,” He plainly glances at Ino, side-eyeing the poor guy like crazy and then looking him up and down, “Him.”
You roll your eyes at how dramatic Choso’s being, “First off, his name is Ino and secondly, I know him and I wanted to say hi,” You tell him, “I shouldn’t have to explain any of this to you.”
Choso looks down at you, seeing how your brows are pushed together and you look slightly agitated with his approach. The sight makes Choso smirk, “I didn’t tell or ask you to explain anything to me,” He hums innocently.
You glare, “Don’t piss me off.”
He chuckles and leans down to you, his head tipping to the side and his lips meeting your cheek, “M’sorry baby.”
Ino awkwardly clears his throat, his head turned to the side and avoiding the two of you at all costs, “Ahem, uh, I didn’t know you had a boyfriend…”
You look at Ino, noticing his ears red but sweat sliding down his neck. What the hell made him so nervous— Choso?
You sigh, “He’s not my boyfriend.”
“Yet,” Choso chimes in, moving back down to kiss your neck and sending yet another glare to Ino.
Ino looks at the two of you for a split second but then his eyes dart down to the cash register, “R-Right, well uh, did you still want to order something?”
You nod, ignoring how ridiculously clingy Choso’s being, “Yeah, what were you going to suggest?”
“Um, the cookies here are pretty good,” Ino hums, his eyes refusing to look up at you again.
You know he’s timid with eye contact but now he won’t even glance at you. Was this because of Choso?
“I’ll take one of each then,” You requested.
Ino nods and his fingers tap across the screen in front of him, quickly submitting your order, “It’s uh, it’s on the house by the way.” He tells you.
You smile, “Really-“
Choso scoffs and you feel his head move, his chin soon resting on your shoulder as he again frightens the poor cashier with another stone-cold glare, “Fuck that,” He says, taking one hand off your waist and moving to pull something out his pocket, “I’ll pay.”
Your brows furrow and you simply couldn’t understand what was wrong with Choso all of a sudden.
“Oh,” Ino hums, just barely making eye contact with Choso before quickly looking back down, “That’ll be $18.76 then,” He says.
Choso hums and you watch him toss his card onto the counter in a nonchalant manner. To which Ino swallows hard as he moves with a shaky hand to grab the item.
You were so beyond confused as to why Ino was scared, “Ino,” You call out.
He jumps again and meets your eyes, “Huh?”
“Are you okay?” You ask with a kind smile.
The eye contact lasts for barely a second before Ino looks at Choso, feels himself shrinking, and then looks back down to charge the man’s card, “Y-Yeah.”
In all honesty, a lot was going on in Ino’s mind. For starters, the first time he ever saw you was when you were dancing with Gojo that one night a few months ago, then he saw you every other week up until you met Nanami just a few days ago, leading to now as he sees you with Choso…
He wasn’t going to say anything but seeing you with guy after guy was something he noted in his head. Maybe you were some kinda-
“Oi,” Choso calls, his low voice making Ino flinch and look up at you two, “Are you gonna’ give me my card back or what?”
Ino gulps and his hand is still shaking as he does so. Choso swipes the card out of his hand and pockets it quickly. After which, with a final glare and a look of disgust sent to Ino, Choso places his hand back on your waist, lifts his head from your shoulder, and urges you to walk away with him.
You begin to move with Choso but throw a hand up to wave Ino bye. Ino looks at you and meets your eyes but he doesn’t wave back, nor does he even smile-- he was genuinely scared shitless and you had no idea why.
Your hand then dropped and was placed over Choso’s as you walked with the man, “Cho, you scared him.”
“Good,” He says casually, “I didn’t like how he was looking at you.”
You scoff and turn your head to look back at the man, “And how was he looking at me exactly?”
Choso pauses in his steps and looks down at you. He stares for a second, getting distracted by the angle from which you were gazing up at him. Then, he sighs, “Like he wanted to fuck you.”
Your brows furrow, “Choso I think you’re seeing things.”
“You can’t tell when someone finds you attractive?” He questions.
“I can but-“
“If that’s the case then you would’ve noticed how many times he looked down at your tits before I walked up to you two.” Choso cuts off, “If he got scared because I came up behind you and sent him a look or two, then that’s good, he should be scared.”
“Choso… you looked at him like you wanted to kill him,” You say jokingly.
Choso doesn’t say anything, he simply stares.
You blink, “What, don’t tell me you thought about hurting-“
“Yuki wants to meet you by the way,” He says, redirecting the conversation entirely.
You pause and then move to turn all the way around and face Choso completely. Folding your arms, you raise a brow at him, “Were you actually thinking of hurting Ino just now?”
Again, Choso stares at you for a long moment. Then he sighs heavily, “If I wanted to hurt him just now, I would’ve.”
“That doesn’t answer my question,” You point out.
He groans, “No, I wasn’t thinking about hurting him. I jus’ didn’t like how he was looking at you.”
You raise a brow, “Were you jealous or something?”
“I always am,” Choso tells you honestly.
“Uhuh… Well, speaking of jealousy, can I ask why you and Yuki were here together?” You question.
The man smirks, “Does it matter?”
“Yes, Choso.” You state plainly.
He takes in your expression, finding you nothing short of attractive at the moment, “Why?”
“Because…” You trail off a bit, feeling unsure if you should express your thoughts.
Choso leans down to you a little and tilts his head, “Because what?”
“Cause’ I don’t understand what reason you’d have to be here with her.” You blurt out. And just like that, your dislike of the matter was showing.
Choso smiles tauntingly, “I can’t hang out with a friend?”
You don’t find him funny in that moment, sending him nothing more than a glare, “Not one you used to fuck, no.”
“Oh?” Choso bites his lower lip, “Baby… Did you just tell me who I can and can’t hang out with?”
You look off to the side, “I did…”
“So you are jealous.” He purrs, his voice showing just how entertained by this he is.
“Why do you care if I’m jealous or not?” You ask in a confused manner, scrunching up your face at him.
Choso shrugs, his smile yet to fade, “Why wouldn’t I? If the woman I want is jealous because I’m hanging out with someone else, why wouldn’t I care?”
You blink, “I don’t get it.”
“That’s because you have two guys you’re trying to pick between,” He hums, “See, to be jealous because of me means you want me all to yourself.”
“W-What, no?”
“Uhm, yes? To be jealous in the context of a relationship is to be suspicious toward one’s faithfulness,” Choso explains, “And if you’re worried about me being unfaithful well, not only do you not trust me but,” He leans closer to you and whispers, “You also don’t like the thought of me with someone else.”
Your brows push together, “I do trust you Choso-“
“Obviously not,” He argues, “Baby, do you think I have your name on me for no reason? I almost got it tatted on my neck but I figured that’d be too much.”
“A-Are you serious?” You scoff at the new information, “Choso we weren’t even seeing each other..”
“I know but,” He shrugs, “I told you I’d wait for you.”
A concerned brow is raised as you question him, “What does that have to do with the tattoo?”
“That’s a symbol of me waiting,” Choso explains, “Even if you came back and told me you fell for someone else, I would’ve told you that if things don’t work out, you can always come back to me.”
“Choso, we’ve only known each other for like,” Your face twists up in thought, “Barely even a full semester?”
“So?” He scoffs.
“What do you mean so? How can you be so… s-so, in love with me?”
He tilts his head in a confused and innocent manner, “How can I not? You brought creativity back into my heart, you made me smile uncontrollably for hours on end, the sound of your voice makes my soul happy, and just looking at you brings me nothing but joy.”
You swallow hard and Choso inches closer, “I…”
“It doesn’t take long for me to fall for someone, princess.” He explains, his hands moving up to your face, “Especially not when that someone is you.”
“Choso, I…”
“Why do we have to know each other for a longer period of time to be in love?” He asks. The question was actually a rather good one. “Even if it’s cliche, why am I not allowed to have experienced love at first sight?”
Your brows raise, “Is that what it was?”
“Well, I couldn’t pick up a paintbrush and do anything for the past three months before I met you,” He explains, “Yet, the very second I saw you, inspiration struck me. So, you tell me, is that love?”
You bat your eyelashes at him, “I-I don’t know…”
“I mean, maybe it wasn’t love at first sight but I was definitely enamored,” Choso murmurs, chuckling a little, “Hell, I still am now.”
You can’t help the smile that grows on your face, “Choso..”
“I mean it,” He says, his voice quiet as his lips near yours, “You are the most beautiful thing that’s ever happened to me.”
Oh he’s such a liar— how could have once told you he doesn’t have a way with words? His way with words currently has your knees weakening in a similar way Gojo’s words had.
Your smile angles downward and you think you’re starting to understand his emotions a bit more. That’s the one thing Choso struggles to express but it’s so clear he’s working on it just for you.
“That’s so sweet Choso,” You tell him.
“I try,” He hums, just barely placing his lips on yours before pulling away, “And uh, you don’t have any reason to be jealous because of Yuki. Even if she was still into me, I could never find love in another woman the way I do you.”
“What about lust?” You ask.
He chuckles, “There is no lust for me without love.”
“Is that so?”
Choso nods his head, “Mhm.”
You hum and nearly kiss the man but the feeling of guilt suddenly stabs you in the back. You were just making out with Gojo…
Choso notices your hesitation and his brows furrow, “What’s wrong baby?”
“Uhm,” You stare at him, unsure of what excuse you could give him as to why you don’t want to kiss, “Nothing I just uh-”
“Choso!” A female suddenly calls out, the sound both aggravating you and yet saving you at the same time.
The man’s entire facial expression drops and you don’t know if you’ve ever seen Choso so pissed off in person before. It was almost cute the way he frowns and the color in his eyes seemed to dull, a completely uninterested expression taking over his features.
Then, his hands move to your waist and he wraps them around you, pulling your body into his and holding you tightly as he looks at the owner of the voice who’d just shouted his name, “I hate you, y’know that, right?” He says to her.
You blink and try to turn your head around but Choso shoots a hand up to the back of your head and forces your face into his chest as if he wanted to keep you hidden. You giggle at his antics, “Cho, I wanna see…” You mumble against him.
Your hands then move against his body, sliding against his waist and squeezing between his body and your own so that you can set your palms on his chest. Then you try to push him away a bit but he doesn’t budge.
“There’s nothing for you to see, honestly,” Choso tells you, chuckling a bit at how you’re squirming and shifting against him. It was cute to him how you couldn’t exactly move away from his grasp.
“Oh come onnn,” The woman speaks again. Was it Yuki? You weren’t exactly sure since she sounded a bit different compared to the phone call, “Lemme’ see her, pleaaaase?” The woman begs, “C’mon, bring her over here! We made a promise, remember?”
Promise? What promise? Your brows push together and you try moving against Choso again but he still doesn’t move in the slightest. Then, his hands drop to your waist and he forces you to start walking backward as he walks forward with you. Choso grumbles out some curse about the woman and you snicker.
He looks down at you for a moment and you manage to look up, “You think this is funny?”
“I don’t know why you’re acting so strange so, yes, yes I do.” You say with a giddy little smile on your face.
Choso’s eyes linger on you for a longer moment than intended, as always, and once the two of you walk to a certain point, he looks away from you and to someone who’s somewhere behind you. “You’ll see why in a second,” He tells you.
You raise a brow, “Does this mean I can turn around now?”
“Unfortunately, yes,” Choso says with a frown.
Chuckling at him, you steadily turn your body around to finally lay eyes on the woman he’d been hanging out with and talking to. Choso’s hands find solace in remaining on your waist and he grips you tightly, almost as if at any given moment you’ll slip away from him.
Meanwhile, your breath is caught somewhere in your throat when you lock eyes with the woman he’d been with. In a matter of seconds, you’re conflicted between a feeling of insecurity, jealousy, and not knowing whether or not you want to be this woman or be with this woman.
The prettiest set of brown eyes decorated with a pronounced set of eyelashes takes all of you in, like, literally every inch of your body in as if she were checking you out. Long blonde hair cascades down her back as she sits with her legs sprawled out into a manspread and one of her arms resting against the back of the booth-like seat she was in.
She had on this sleeveless turtle neck crop top paired with these baggy jeans and-, good lord her arms are so defined and although she’s rather slim, her build was athletic, and above all-- she was fucking hot. You watch the way she weighs her head to the side a bit as her eyes dip downwards along your body, the two tufts on either side of her face swaying along with her movement.
Her sheer gloss-coated lips quirk into a smile and her gaze then snaps back up to your face, “Well shit, Choso…” She comments simply. Your brows pinch together but then your entire expression drops when she stands and god she’s taller than you and even maybe an inch taller than Choso.
You swallow hard as she moves to step toward you and Choso, who is still holding onto you for dear life. Then, the blonde leans down to your face and a finger is brought to your chin to lift your head a bit.
“You sure know how to pick ‘em, don’t you?” She says to Choso as he inspects your face closer.
You have no idea how to speak anymore, you can’t really breathe, you think you’re sweating, and fuck she smells amazing.
The woman then focuses on you before Choso even gets a moment to respond and she flashes you a smile, “Hi cutie, I’m Yuki,” She greets, moving her hand from your chin and standing up straight to extend her hand out for you to shake.
You have to blink a few times to snap yourself out of your daze and you just barely manage to put your hand out and shake hers. You mumbled out your name and you’re not sure a woman has made you this nervous in quite some time, “Nice to uh, n-nice to meet you.”
Yeah, the last time you were this nervous because of a woman’s presence was when you first met Shoko.
Yuki chuckles, “Mhm, nice to meet you too! Choso’s told me so much about you within the past few minutes.”
You honestly forgot about Choso for a moment, turning your head to the side a bit to look at the man. His facial expression was absolutely dreadful as if he hated every second of this interaction. “Has he?” You ask.
“Yup!” She beams as she then moves and returns to her seat. Plopping down, she nods her chin toward the seats across from her own, “C’mon, sit down, I wanna get to know you for myself!”
You hear Choso groan frustratedly, “This wasn’t a part of the deal-”
“Didn’t ask, don’t care,” Yuki interrupts him, “Now both of you, sit.”
You’re moving before Choso is and the way you take a seat so quickly makes Choso’s heart ache. He hated every passing second of this. It was killing him inside to see you already getting along with Yuki.
With another groan, Choso rolls his eyes and goes to take the seat beside you and across from Yuki.
The woman giggles, “Aw, look at you twooo,” She hums enthusiastically before moving to prop her elbows up on the table and rest her chin in the palms of her hands, “You guys make a great couple but,” She looks at you, “You could do much better honestly.”
You blink. That was certainly not what you were expecting her to say, “Better than Choso?”
“Of course, who wants a grumpy emo pigtailed freak clinging onto them every second of the day?” She says, laughing at her comment.
You snicker and look at the man beside you. Choso has this lifeless look on his face, seeming as though he were mentally plotting the different ways in which he could harm the woman sitting across from him up until you place a hand on his thigh and he snaps out of it.
Choso turns to you and his face lights back up, “Don’t listen to her, please.”
“Why not?” Yuki chimes in, “A woman like her needs someone more… bright and fun!”
In the driest tone ever, “I am bright and fun,” Choso grumbles.
You laugh at him and move a hand to pinch his cheek, the motion bringing him more comfort than you realize, “Sure you are.”
He blinks, “What do you mean sure?”
“You’re fun but I’m not too sure about bright…” You tell him.
His brows push together and a pout pulls at his lips, “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Choso,” You look down at him, “You’re wearing all black and you walk around looking like you haven’t slept in days.”
He rolls his eyes, “Okay, and?”
“And that’s okay, I think it’s hot,” You tell him, sending him a cute smile.
He hums, smiling on the inside like crazy but his facial expression hardly changes.
Yuki finds the interaction between you and Choso nothing short of entertaining, “So is that your type, then?”
You look over at her, “Huh?”
Choso groans, “Oh god, Yuki you don’t have to ask every person you talk to this damn question-”
“Yes I do, shut up.” She cuts him off, “Now back to you,” Yuki smiles brightly as her eyes meet yours, “What’s your type?”
“My type?” You echo, “Uh,” For a moment, you look at Choso again and after a second of thought, you shrug, “Dark-haired depressed looking men,” You say flawlessly.
Yuki bursts out laughing and then looks at Choso, “Yeah? Shit, I guess Choso’s perfect for ya’.”
You nod and Choso moves to rest his head on your shoulder, trying to just tune himself out of this conversation unless you speak to him directly. Your gaze then returns to Yuki and she’s still laughing at the description you gave her.
Then, after the humor dies down, she settles her gaze on you again and something in her eyes shifts, “Okay, now how about women?”
You blink and Choso fumes, “Okay, fuck this, fuck you, we’re leaving,” He snaps suddenly, lifting his head from your shoulder and attempting to stand up.
You reach for the sleeve of his shirt and tug him right back down into place, having no idea what his issue is all of a sudden.
Then, as he sits himself down again, you look at Yuki, “I’m not sure I have a type in women, honestly.”
She tilts her head at you, “Sure’ about that, hun? Just really think about it. Y’know, if you were to find anything in a woman attractive, what would it be?”
You think for a second and damn the way your eyes flick to her short-cut feminine set of hands and the lean muscular arms that lead to them. And to make matters worse, as you look, Yuki notices.
“Oh?” She smiles and moves her hands, extending her arms across the table and displaying her hands, “You have a thing for hands, pretty girl?”
Your face flushes in embarrassment and at this point, Choso’s resting his head back against the seat and just staring up at the ceiling wondering how the hell he allowed the two of you to get to this point in conversation.
Your face is all hot and you swallow hard, “U-Uhm, n-no I just-”
Yuki leans forward a bit, “It’s okay if you are, y’know. Hell, if you want…” She looks at Choso for a moment, then back to you with a smirk, “You can get a feel of my hands and tell me how much you like them.”
“I-I don’t… Uh, I’m n-not,” Shit, you couldn’t even form words properly.
Yuki tilts her head, “C’mon, get it out, pretty.”
Choso lifts his head and instantly glares at the woman, “Yuki,” He calls out.
She groans and rolls her eyes before looking at him, “Whaaat?”
“Keep flirting with her and I’ll kill you,” He threatens, his voice gone cold and the threat far from baseless.
That snaps you out of your flustered state and you quickly turn your head to Choso, “What?”
He doesn’t even look at you, his eyes deadly focused on the woman across the table.
Yuki laughs and leans back in her seat, “You’re just like your brother, y’know.”
That manages to make Choso’s moment of contemplating murder fade completely, “W-What?” He asks, his voice returning to normal as he’s thrown off.
You’re just as confused at this point and you’re unsure of what to say or do anymore. Brother? Who, Yuji?
The blonde shrugs and glances off to the side, “Always so quick to make some crazy ass threat over the slightest inconvenience. He does the same thing, y’know. That’s why he’s always fighting someone every other week-”
“Don’t compare me to that fuckin’ asshole,” Choso spat, “I’m nothing like him and he’s not my brother.”
That’s when you realize they were probably talking about Sukuna…
She laughs, “Right, right, sure he isn’t.” Then, Yuki rolls her eyes and returns her attention to you, “Anywaysss, back to you, cutie.”
“Uh, what uhm, what were we talking about again?” You hum nervously.
Yuki gives you a warm smile, “Let’s just drop that topic since Mr. Grumpy Pants over here doesn’t want me flirting with ya’.”
You glance at Choso from the corner of your eye, “He can’t stop you from flirting with me,” You comment, earning a confused glance from Choso before you look at Yuki again, “We’re not dating.”
“Yet,” Choso adds on.
Yuki’s eyebrows raise, “Oh? So what are you two then? Friends with benefits? In some kinda’ situationship? Orr are you guys scared of a relationship?”
“I’m not,” Choso answers purposefully.
You roll your eyes at his words, “None of those, actually. We’ll figure it out soon though.”
“Hmmm, okay! S’long as you’re happy,” Yuki says, winking at you.
You smile and then tilt your head, “What about you two?”
Choso freezes and Yuki’s smile grows wider, “Us two? He hasn’t told you anything?!”
You shake your head.
Yuki moves to take one of the napkins up from the table, balls it up, and throws it at Choso’s face, “How can you expect to have a relationship with someone when you don’t even tell them about your exes!” She says.
You blink, “Ex?” Your voice was so soft and gentle that Yuki almost felt bad for how ignorant you were about their relationship.
She nods, “Mhm! I was Choso’s first girlfriend.”
Slowly, you turn and look at the man in question, seeing how he refuses to meet your eyes, “Choso, why didn’t you tell me this?”
“You never asked,” He says with a shrug.
“Well,” You look at Yuki again, “If that’s the case then, what were you two doing hanging out today?”
Yuki opens her mouth to reply but then closes it after a moment of thought. An idea pops into her mind and she shifts her sights to Choso, “Hey Cho, I think your girlfriend’s order is ready, you should go get it.”
You immediately caught on to what she was trying to do. Yuki wanted to be alone with you for a moment and you weren’t against the idea in the slightest.
Choso glares at the woman, “Why-”
You smack his arm playfully and he turns to you, seeing the smile on your face, “Please?” You ask him.
Being a complete sucker for you, Choso sighs heavily, “Fine.”
Then, Choso gets up from the table and sends Yuki a look of warning before he leaves. You both watch him walk away and then you turn to Yuki with an expectant look on your face.
“Okay well, before you worry or anything, he probably didn’t tell you because he’s suuuper embarrassed about the relationship he and I had,” She tells you flawlessly.
You raise a brow, “What’s so embarrassing about it?”
“How we broke up.” She hums, “Dunno’ if you could tell but uh,” She leans forward and whispers, “I’m moreso into women, sweets.”
You blink, “O-Oh.”
“Yeahhhh so, for whatever reason, he gets really embarrassed whenever I talk about the way I left him,” Yuki chuckles as she recalls the memory, “But trust me when I say, the two of us are barely even friends, let alone lovers anymore.”
“Uhuh…” You hum, nodding along with her.
“Oh! And another thing,” She glances over to make sure Choso isn’t coming back and then she grins, “Since I used to date the guy, I’d assume it’s safe for me to warn ya’ about a few things…?”
“Warn me?” A scoff leaves past your lips and your brows pinch together, “Warn me about what?”
“Well, I’m sure you’ve noticed how clingy he is,” She says hintingly.
You nod, “I mean, yeah, but there’s nothing wrong with that, is there?”
“No, of course not! It’s just…” She looks over again and then back to you, “When he gets into a relationship he gets really… uh… what’s the word…”
“Obsessive?” You blurt out, worried that Choso may be just like Gojo-
“No, not at all. Obsessive is crazy.” Yuki laughs, “Choso’s more of the uhm… possessive type?”
“P-Possesive?” You say with a bat of your lashes.
“Mhm!” Her hum is so nonchalant that it eases the temporary worry you had, “Not that it gets to a crazy level but he does have his moments and I even noticed how he’s been with you.”
There’s this chill slipping up your spine, “Is it bad?”
Yuki’s brows knit together and she blinks, “Hm?”
“His possessiveness,” You clarify, “Is it bad?”
“Uhm,” She swallows and you watch the way her facial expression changes, “Well, with me it wasn’t-”
“Based on what you’ve seen with me, is it bad?” You cut off, moderately desperate for answers before Choso comes back.
Yuki’s eyebrows raise in a telling manner, “Well-”
A small box of assorted cookies is suddenly placed on the table in between where the two of you are talking and both of you jump. You turn to the side and notice Choso’s standing there all of a sudden. You didn’t even hear him walking up to the two of you? How the hell does he keep sneaking up on you like that and why does it keep scaring you?
You swallow and you and Yuki have both gone mute.
Choso stares at the two of you for a second before raising a concerned brow, “The hell did you two stop talking for?”
“Uh, you scared us, jackass,” Yuki says to him.
He rolls his eyes at her and then goes to take his seat beside you.
After which, you decide to change the topic back to what you were discussing before he walked away, “A-Anyway, uh, you guys were hanging out today because…?”
Choso moves to take one of the cookies he bought for you and takes a bite before answering, “I was drawing and this crazy lady came running up to me saying it’s been forever since we last saw each other,” He explains.
You chuckle and Yuki frowns at him, “First off, I’m not crazy and secondly, I was here to meet a friend of mine and then I noticed Choso,” She tells you. Then, the woman looks at something behind you and her eyes light up, “Speaking of the devil!” She says loudly before shooting her hand up and waving the person over.
Your brows furrow and you decide to follow her line of vision, turning your head back to see who she was talking about.
Fuck.
Oh, you’re fucked.
So very fucked because the person in which Yuki was referring to is none other than the best friend of Gojo, the man in which you used to be friends with benefits with, the second guy on the list you slept with, and the pervert who you’d like to consider yourself decently friends with…
For the man approaching the table was none other than Geto Suguru.

Spooktober Day 5 - “Was that a scream?"
You were down in Ford’s lab helping him with a new type of gadget that would be helpful in tracking anomalous activity when Dipper and Mabel had stormed into the lab. They wanted to the two of you to go monster hunting. Dipper had learned about a new cryptid called the Shadow Stalker. Ford had declined, but insisted that you go along with the kids, Wendy, and Soos. He had said it would be good for you to get some fresh air.
As you were leaving, Ford stopped you, grasping your wrist, “Call me if you need anything.” He pressed a small kiss to your temple, “That thing can get a bit wiley.” He placed a walkie talkie in your hand. “Go have fun. Be safe.”
Once night fell, the moon hung high in the sky over the dense canopy of pine trees. He fog was thick and the flashlights the gang was carrying barely cut through it. You were thankful for a cool night, unsure of how long you’d be out there or how far you would have to trudge deeper into he Gravity Falls forest.
“So, what’s the plan again?” Wendy asked. Her voice was calm as always as she led the pack, cutting brush out of the way with her axe.
“We’re looking for the Shadow Stalker,” Dipper said matter-of-factly. He held up Journal 3 for you to see. Ford’s sketch of the thing was enough to send a chill up your spine. It was a large, humanoid creature with glowing red eyes. It almost reminded you of the hide-behind. “It’s been spotted in these woods for centuries. It’s drawn to sound and movement.
Your body stiffened, “Great.”
Mabel gasped, startling you from her place to your right. You gripped her hand in yours to stop her from skipping ahead of the group, “Ohhhhh, spooky! I hope it’s friendly.” She reached ino her backpack and pulled out an extra sweater. She hugged it close to her chest. You knew she had knitted it that morning for this very occasion. It was made up of black yarn and the words ‘You go, Shadow Stalker!’ on the front, “Do you think i’ll like it, [Y/N]?”
“Of course, sweetie,” sure it would like it, if it didn’t eat you. You plucked the journal from Dipper’s hand, “Ford have anything in here about how dangerous this thing is?”
Dipper shrugged as he took the journal back from you, “Can’t be that bad if he let us go alone.”
You scoffed. You loved that man, but he had also given a twelve year old a crossbow before. He almost gotten his and Dipper’s brains devoured by an interdimensional math wizard. Needless to say, you immediately expected the worst. You squeezed the walkie talkie in your hand that wasn’t holding Mabel back.
One second, everything felt fine, but the next your flashlight went out. Wendy’s was next, then Soos. Finally, Dipper and Mabel’s flashlight gave out. The five of you stood in the darkened forest. You couldn’t see much in front of you despite the moon hanging overhead. You could make out the shape of the twins, reaching for both of their hands. You could see Soos’ silhouette creep closer to you before feeling his hand on your shoulder. Wendy moved closer too.
“Oh, dudes,” Soos spoke up from right behind your ear, “not trying to freak anyone out, but the vibes of the place are way off right now.”
You nodded. The air was suddenly thick and you felt like you were being watched, “Yeah, I’m with Soos on this one. Something about this feel wrong-”
Before anyone could respond, you heard a loud crash of branches behind you. I was so loud that the five of you froze in place. Soos bumping into the back of you. You held your breath as you remembered Dipper’s words. It is attracted to sound and movement.
A loud screech filled the air then, the five of you huddled together in the middle of a moonlit clearing. Mabel hugged you around the waist. Even Dipper had clutched onto you tighter.
“Was that a scream?” Mabel whispered against your shirt.
You looked down at Dipper as he began to speak, his face pale with fear, “It didn’t sound like an animal.”
The eerie silence that followed was thick and oppressive, as if the forest itself was holding its breath. Every sound felt amplified—the rustling of leaves, the creak of branches in the wind, even the shallow breathing of your friends around you. You felt a cold bead of sweat form at the back of your neck.
“I don’t like this,” you whispered, your voice barely above a breath.
Dipper flipped through the journal faster, scanning the pages, “This is exactly where the sightings have been reported. If that noise was the Shadow Stalker, we might be too close.”
“Too close for what, exactly?” Wendy frowns, pulling out her axe.
Dipper swallows hard, “It’s said that once you hear its call, it’s already hunting you. We need to be still and quiet. Any noise, any movement, it’ll know.”
Mabel, usually the carefree one, took a step closer to you, her eyes wide. “What if we—”
Before she could finish, another crash, even louder this time, reverberated through the trees. The sound is followed by something far more chilling. A low, drawn-out growl, deep and prima echoed from all around you, making the little hairs on the back of your neck stand on end.
“Dudes, that’s definitely not a squirrel,” Soos muttered, inching closer to you, Wendy, and the kids.
You could feel your heart racing, your pulse thundering in your ears. ‘Ford should be here,’ you cursed, but you didn’t say it aloud. He should have known this would happen. Lord knows he knew everything and always made sure you knew he knew everything. He should have come with you. Wiley. Yeah, that was an understatement. Instead, you reach for your walkie talkie, the one lifeline you knew you can count on. Your fingers trembled as you turned it on, “Ford, do you copy? Over.”
A few seconds pass before you hear his voice on the other side, a flash of relief washing over you, “are you okay? What happened? Over.”
“We’re too close,” you whispered. Your voice was low, but urgent, “We think it’s here. We need you. Over.”
Another brief silence followed. The rustling behind you was getting closer. You could almost hear the gears in his mind turning, “Stay right where you are.” His voice was steady and calm. He was doing his best to not freak you out with the slight shake of his voice, “I’ll be there soon. Don’t make any sudden moves and keep quiet. Turn your walkie off. Over.”
You shut the walkie off and put it into Dipper’s bag, feeling a small sense of relief knowing that Ford is on his way, but you also know it might not be fast enough. The growling sounded closer now and you swore you saw something moving in the shadows between the trees, something tall, with glowing eyes.
Wendy stepped in front of the, her axe at the ready, her stance solid, “We’re not just going to wait around to be eaten by this thing, right?”
Dipper shook his head, “No, we just need to stall until Ford gets here. We have to stay still, no running.”
The growl turned into a low hiss and then the shadow seemed to shift. Out from the darkness, a figure emerged. It’s tall, towering over you, its body thin but impossibly long, covered in what looks like shadow itself. Its glowing red eyes scanned the group. The air grew colder. The Shadow Stalker.
Every instinct was telling you to run, but you forced yourself to stay still apart from pushing Dipper and Mabel behind you. The creature’s eyes focused on Soos, shaking so hard that you can hear the rustle of his jacket.
“It’s looking for movement,” Dipper whispered, barely moving his lips. “Stay calm. Stay-”
Before Dipper could finish, Soos stumbled backward, tripping over a tree root. The sound loud, a crack of branches and a thud as he hit the ground. The Shadow Stalker snaped its head toward Soos, its eyes glowing brighter. It gave a bone-chilling screech. It moved quickly, unnaturally fast, as it closed the distance between it and Soos in an instant.
“No!” Mabel shouted, unable to hold back her panic.
Just when it seemed like the creature is about to reach Soos, a blinding flash of light burst through the trees, hitting the Shadow Stalker in the chest. The creature screeched, recoiling as if burned by the light.
“Get away from them!” Ford’s voice boomed through the clearing as he emerged from the shadows, holding a strange device that hummed with energy. His face was set with determination. His eyes focused on the creature as it stumbled backward.
“Ford!” you cried out, the relief almost overwhelming.
Ford glanced at you, his expression softening for just a moment before he turned back to the Shadow Stalker. “Stay behind me, all of you!” he commanded, his voice sharp and authoritative.
You rushed to his side, your heart still racing as you pulled everyone behind you, but the fear you were feeling eased knowing he was there. Ford tightened his grip on the device in his hands, the light from it growing stronger. The creature hissed again, retreating further, but it circled, waiting for a chance to strike. You pressed the front of your body to Ford’s back. Dipper and Mabel were pressed firmly to either side of you. Soos had his own face buried in your back and Wendy clung to him.
Dipper, still holding the journal, tugged on Ford’s trench coat with wide eyes. “How do we stop it?”
Ford kept his focus on the creature as he adjusted a dial on the device, “We don’t kill it. We contain it. I’ve been preparing for this. I just need to hold it long enough to activate the trap.”
Mabel’s voice trembled, “What if it gets out?”
Ford glanced down at her, his expression serious, “It won’t. Not if we do this right.”
The creature howled, but Ford stepped forward to leave you feeling abandoned. His device emitted a soft hum that filled the air. The Shadow Stalker screeched in response, but Ford held his ground, a confident figure against the darkness.
“Stay close to me,” Ford said softly, his hand brushing against yours as he steadied himself. “I won’t let anything happen to you.”
You nodded, feeling a strange sense of comfort despite the danger. You’ve always trusted Ford, but in moments like this, you realized just how deeply you rely on him. You squeeze his hand briefly before stepping back, trusting him to finish what he started.
With a swift motion, Ford slammed the device into the ground and, suddenly, the forest floor around the creature began to glow. Strange, glowing symbols arose from the earth, forming a circle around the Shadow Stalker. The creature let out one final, earsplitting screech as the symbols pulse with light, trapping it inside the glowing barrier.
Ford took a deep breath, his shoulders relaxing as the creature struggled to break free, “It’s done. It won’t be bothering anyone again.”
You let out a breath, your body finally relaxing as you threw your arms around him in thanks. Your nose was pressed firmly against his chest as you sighed with relief, “You saved us. Again.”
Ford chuckled softly as he pulled you from him. A six-fingered hand caressed your cheek, “I told you I’d always protect you.”
You both grinned when Dipper, Soos, and Wendy let out a groan of disgust. Wendy told you to ge a room. Mabel, though, laughed wildly, “Awwe, they’re so in love! How can you gus be grossed out? They're adorable.”
“So, uh, what now?” Soos asked, rubbing his arm where he fell.
Ford smiled, clamping his hand on Soos’ shoulder, “Now, we head back to the Shack. I’ll deal with this creature in the morning.”
As you all began to make your way back through the woods, you stayed close to Ford, your hand still in his. His presence was like an anchor, grounding you after that shock. It had been a while since you had a good scare, but the darkness of the forest didn’t seem as menacing anymore, not with Ford by your side.
“Next time,” he said quietly, leaning in just enough for you to hear, “you’re staying in the Shack with me.”
You laughed, the tension in your chest finally releasing, “I’ll take you up on that.”

⋆。 ゚☁︎。 ⋆。 ゚☾ ゚。 ⋆ 。 ゚☁︎。 ⋆。 ゚☾ ゚。 ⋆
takuma’s soft palms securely grip your waist as you wobble and sway. the skate park is empty aside from you two, the setting sun casts a golden filter through the trees and onto his glowing skin. it’s been a few days since he first kissed you. after finally exchanging phone numbers, you’ve been texting every day since, and stealing away time to see him when suguru’s attention is turned towards something else. he’s taken you for breezy late night cruises, let you drive his skyline, and hushed walks through quiet neighborhoods.
but today he treats you to sushi from his mom’s lovely shop, and now a crash course lesson in skateboarding at the secluded park near his home.
“i’m gonna let go!”
“don’t!” you shriek, clamping onto the cotton of his navy blue shirt even tighter.
“i’m kidding,” he giggles. “i won’t let go until you ask me to.”
you jerk back and forth on the worn out wood, trying to tighten your core like takuma told you to, but it does nothing as you struggle to find balance.
“are you bending your knees?”
“i’m trying to,” you whine as he walks beside you, guiding you forward slowly. you finally find a small center of stability, “wait, let go now.”
he steps back as you slowly roll forward, arms flailing and torso contorting as you try to hold the balance you had. takuma doesn’t leave your side. the uneasiness becomes too much for you and you stumble off the board, sending it flying behind you. he’s quick to grab you.
“that was great, you’re making progress!” he grins. you grip his arms.
“that was terrifying!”
“oooh, so when 4 wheels have a supercharged v8, it’s fine” he teases. “but when it’s 3 pounds of wood, it’s terrifying?”
“it’s so not the same!”
takuma laughs before wrapping his strong arms around you and pressing a kiss to your forehead. the contact is soft, gentle. you’ve noticed over the past few days that takuma is rowdy and rough when he makes contact with anything except you. when you’re there, his body and voice calms, like a precious glass ornament he’s afraid to break.
“we can be done for the day,” he suggests. “maybe another lesson tomorrow?”
“i can’t,” you pout. “my dad and brother said they have something planned for my birthday.”
“what?!” his eyes widen with alarm. “your birthday?”
“yeah,” you smile sheepishly. “i’m 21 tomorrow.”
“you should’ve said something! oh my god, i didn’t get you anything.”
“i didn’t expect you to,” you giggle. “you don’t need to get me anything, kuma.”
“no, no, no,” he pleads, tightly clinging to you. “i’ll get you something good, promise.”
“you really shouldn’t worry about it—”
“—sshhh,” he hushes you. “and this weekend, we can go out and celebrate at the underground.”
“i’d love that, kuma.”
“good,” another press to your forehead before quickly whipping around and hopping on his board. he pushes off, rolling fast and low as he approaches a ramp. he looks at you with a silly grin and playful eyes— it’s an addicting sight. “now watch this steeze!”
you can’t help but laugh at his goofy behavior as he lifts up from the ramp, the board twirling in the air before he sticks the landing.
it’s not the burning sun that sends warmth through your entire body, it’s takuma.
✰✰✰✰✰
that evening, chopsticks click and clatter around the kotatsu as your little family enjoys a comforting dinner. you, papa, and suguru prattle and laugh over minuscule conversation and steaming rice. but papa finds a lull through the noise, and takes the opportunity to say something that neither you or suguru were expecting.
“i talked to toji fushiguro the other day.”
ah, shit.
you look at suguru, suguru looks at papa. you know that your brother never told your dad about the tense situation from a few days ago. and you both know that papa is still friends with toji, but assumed that he would keep his mouth shut to him. plus, incidents like that had an unspoken rule to stay unspoken, even to those who were familiar with the scene.
“and how did that go?” suguru responds, his words slow and careful. papa looks at you, his kind eyes suddenly serious. he holds a beer bottle, oil and grease buried deep underneath his fingernails.
“toji says that there’s some people who don’t like that there’s a girl running around and racing.”
“i haven’t been racing, though,” you’re confused. you already know toji told your papa about the argument suguru had with his son. suguru stays quiet, looking down in his food with his brows furrowed.
“but you’ve been practicing to race,” you dad explains. “apparently, the local car community isn’t exactly excited that you’re here.”
“i’m just visiting,” you tilt your head. “i come here every summer, i think most people in the scene know that.”
“but you’re older now. you shipped out your car, doing mountain passes… getting more involved with suguru’steam.”
“that doesn’t mean anything,” suguru finally says. “who’s saying this?”
“i’m not sure,” papa admits. “but toji seemed concerned about it enough to come and talk to me.”
“and this was after suguru raced his son, right?” you ask.
“yes, but all that’s beside the point.”
“so what is the point?” your brother says, you can tell he’s getting irritated.
“well…” papa clears his throat. “…they don’t want a girl racing around them.”
“why not?” you ask and suguru rolls his eyes.
“it’s not like a girl’s never ran with us,” suguru scoffs. “this is stupid.”
“so, are people, like… mad at me?” you’re still confused. “they know my shelby is faster, they know that suguru’steaching me how to drift, so what? they don’t want the possibility of suguru’s sister being better than them? that’s so childish.”
“i agree,” suguru adds. “this is some bullshit. it’s just fun, my little sister wants to run around with me and race while she’s here for the summer, so she will. it’s not that serious.”
“trust me, i agree as well,” your papa looks anxious, the creases on his face seem more obvious than before. “it’s just that toji suggested that…”
“suggested what?” suguru huffs.
“he suggested that someone might cause trouble if clutch hangs around too much.”
“…is that a fucking threat?”
“i don’t know. but you needed to know, and clutch is old enough now where she should know it, too.”
“alright…,” your fingertips twitch. “so what happens now?”
suguru scarfs down the last of his food and stands up from the table. “i gotta call toru and ken.” your papa reaches over and places a reassuring hand over yours as suguru disappears upstairs.
“i’m sure it’s just talk. you shouldn’t stop having fun while you’re here,” his gentle words help you relax. “i love you, y/n. just be safe and smart when you’re out.”
✰✰✰✰✰
later, when the moon glows through the windows and the house settles into silence, you find yourself knocking on suguru’s bedroom door. you heard him come in earlier from the bar with his friends, and know he would be in bed now.
“come in.”
he lays back on the pillows of his bed with one knee propped up, scrolling on his phone. he only wears a pair of shorts and his long, dark hair is loose over his shoulders. his room is spotless, like always. against one side of the room is his bed and desk, the other a tv and dresser. they walls are covered in a tasteful array of signs and posters, the moonlight almost makes them seem alive. his dark wooden desk is littered with random silver car parts and tools, all clean and neatly aligned. his closet door is ajar, and each shirt is color coded.
you pad over and and he moves to make room for you as you sit beside him. his phone lights up his sleepy face, it’s a tiktok video of a beautiful nissan silvia.
“what’s up?” he smiles lazily, reaching up to wind his fingers through your hair. you slump into his shoulder.
“we never talked the other day.”
“yeah, i’m sorry. i got caught up working on satoru’s car.”
“it’s alright. i’ve already forgiven you.”
“well, i’m still sorry… never should of put you in that position.”
“don’t be,” you laugh. “i put myself there.”
“and i should’ve kept you out.” you sit up, his fingers leave your hair. he looks at you expectantly.
“nii-chan, you’ve never used your gun, right?” your voice is soft. “same with satoru?”
“no,” he looks directly in your eyes, he wouldn’t dare lie to you. “never.”
“okay,” you nod. “but, what about what papa said—”
“—i will if i need to,” he’s quick to respond. “and satoru.”
“i will, too.”
he lifts an eyebrow at your words. “huh?”
“i know how to use a gun,” you admit. “mom has one back home and taught me.”
“why would she get a gun?”
“i dont know,” you shrug. “everyone’s got one. so i guess she didn’t want to be the only one without.”
“you’re not going anywhere near my pistol.”
“i know.”
“seriously, don’t touch it under any circumstances. i don’t care if it's laying around in my car or something,” his voice is suddenly low and urgent. “if i get caught and they find your prints on it, it’s over for you.”
“you’d go to jail, too.”
“and i’ll be the only one going. you’ll have nothing to do with it.”
you’re both quiet for a moment before you ask your next question.
“why did toji fushiguro do that? don’t you think that was so weird?”
“i don’t know, i think just to piss me off some more,” suguru huffs. “either way, it was odd behavior, even from him. it was fucking disrespectful. he doesn’t know you like that so i don’t know why he would try that shit.”
“you still seem really mad about it.”
“because i am,” he sits up and grabs your arm. “that’s why i don’t want you anywhere near ino or any of the shadows. they hang out with some nasty people. fushiguro still does suspicious shit and i know he’s got his son in it too.”
“suspicious how?”
“fushiguro…” he pauses and glances at the bedroom door before lowering his voice to a whisper. “…fushiguro and his kid were the ones to help me get my gun. and i know exactly which nameless yakuza he sourced it from. and that kamo guy, the one with the tattoo on his nose, used to run drugs and other shit for him and toji. they ran around together in a motorcycle gang before they got busted and he came to tokyo.”
choso kamo? no way… he was so quiet and respectful towards you at the club, and he’s friends with takuma, the sweetest one of them all. same with megumi, he seemed so young and easily flustered, there’s not a chance that his own father has him sneaking around the city like that… right?
you want suguru to be lying but you know he isn’t. he’s never lied to you and his intense gaze solidifies his truth.
“you think anyone who willingly runs around with those guys can stay out of trouble? absolutely not. takuma and his boys were the first to get pistols. satoru and i thought the same as mom, we weren’t gonna get tied up someday as the only ones without them.”
“okay, i get it. but what does that mean for me?” you take a breathe. “i don’t wanna get caught in literal crossfire just because i wanna race.”
“you won’t.”
“how can you be sure? if toji fushiguro is this big and bad, i don’t think he’d make empty… threats… like that.”
“clutch, my team is more than just ken and toru,” he reassures. “sure, those two are always around, but the phantoms are bigger than you think. they’re just not around every time we’re out.”
“i kind of figured…”
“people say the phantoms run the streets of tokyo,” he continues. “everyone knows i don’t fool around. there’s a lot that happens when you’re not here. someone would be an idiot if they tried to come after us.”
“what about me?”
“us includes you, silly,” he smirks. “you’re my sister. you could beat most of them in a race after all. as long as you stay close to me, you’ll be alright.”
you can’t help but smile.
“suguru, i wanna be one of the fastest street racers in tokyo,” you admit. “at least while i’m here.”
“i think you’re pretty much there already,” he chuckles. “there’s no other girls who race with us.”
“i mean, even better than the handful of female racers around. i wanna be able to keep up with you.”
“is that so?”
“yeah. and i wanna win a touge pass on mount hakone, too. lots of them.”
“all before the summer ends?” he teases.
“yeah, before the summer ends,” you grin. “and then i’ll mysteriously disappear like i was never here.”
“oooh, kinda like a phantom?” he wears a shit-eating grin and you can’t help but laugh. “it’s late, you better get some sleep for you surprise tomorrow.”
“can you give me a hint?”
he looks up and purses his lips, faking a deep thought. “hmmm. it’s something you’ll never see coming.”
“yeah, i know,” you lightly smack him as he laughs. “that’s what a fucking surprise is.”
“i’m not telling you anything. but it’ll be a proper celebration of your 21st. it’s a big one, you’ll go home and be able to party now.”
“you act like i’ve never had a sip of liquor in my life,” you pull him in for a tight hug. “love you.”
“love you, too.”
you pull away and playfully jab your finger in his nose. “you need a soap opera on your life after the drama you caused the other night. don’t drag me into it again.” he swats your hand away with a grin.
“you shithead. get out of my room.”
at exactly 12:01 am, your phone sings:
takuma ino: happy birthday pretty girl :)
✰✰✰✰✰
your birthday flies by before you know it. papa, suguru, satoru, kento, and shoko wake you up with your favorite breakfast and gifts, including one that your mom mailed to you from back home. your bed is littered new clothes, jewelry, trinkets, and liquor at the end of the morning. suguru makes you play passenger princess in your own mustang for the day while he takes you around the city, while the others all seem to have excuses for why they can’t come spend your birthday with you.
suguru drags you all across tokyo. he takes you shopping, out for lunch, and then coffee when you get sleepy. he pays for your manicure, takes all your instagram photos for you without complaining, and to the sushi boat restaurant you’ve been wanting to visit. it’s not as good as ino family's sushi shop.
you’re exhausted by the time the sun has set, begging your brother to take you home so you can finally spend time with your papa before the night ends.
“your garage remote isn’t working,” suguru says as he fumbles with the buttons, the engine idling just outside the house.
“suguru, this has been the best day ever and i love you so much,” you start. “but i’m about to get real fucking cranky if i’m not in the house in 10 seconds.”
“relax,” he laughs. “go open the door for me and head on upstairs. i’ll pull your car in.”
you’re punching in the code when you hear suguru cut the motor of your mustang. the garage door groans open behind your back as you watch him walk up the driveway toward you.
“i thought you were gonna pull my car in?”
“i would but,” he points behind you. “there’s no room.”
your drowsiness had distracted you from realizing the shop’s lights were on when they shouldn’t have been. you look over your shoulder with wide eyes. suguru’s a fucking liar after all.
the shop is crowded with bodies that shout and holler excitedly when you finally turn around, and in the center sits your papa, satoru, kento, and shoko. between them, however, is a dark, blood red body of metal. there’s not a single scratch on the paint, and the chrome wheels gleam under the bright lights of the garage. the front license plate, brand new and snowy white, reads “CLUTCH”.
“what the fuck…”
“we all pitched in,” suguru slings an arm around your stiff shoulders and holds a key out before you. “still wanna go to bed?”
your life isn’t real. you stand there like an idiot, dumbfounded with your jaw hanging open. this is a movie— no, a dream. no, this is a prank. a sick, sick joke.
“liar,” you finally choke out. “you’re a liar. you’re lying.”
“never,” he says, finally letting a wide grin spread across his face. he pushes you into the garage and past the strangers. “i hope you don’t mind, but everyone here helped pitch in something and wanted to meet you. these are the phantoms…” he opens the driver’s door of the silvia and gently pushes you into the seat. “…and this is the newest phantom’s newest car.”
you’re crying, sobbing, bawling. you’re an absolute blubbering mess. suguru crouches down in the open door as you shakily fumble with the ignition. it roars to life and shakes the walls of the shop. the turbocharged engine sounds so good, so sweet. you wail along with it as you slump over suguru’s shoulders and wet his shirt with your tears.
you can’t stop your tears as your loved ones embrace you, it’s all so much, too much. this was much different than when your mom helped you purchase the mustang, matching whatever amount you saved up from countless hours working as a waitress from her seemingly endless bank account. the time, effort, and love that your family on this side of the world had put in just for you makes you want to burst.
you think about your papa, long hours underneath greasy hoods, meticulously tuning and fixing each motor for each client that rolled into the shop. you think about kento, serious eyes and rough hands toiling away at his side. suguru, who your father also pays for his help, and his hours flipping street cars to sell on the other side of the shop— all three of their automotive technology degrees from college being put to work constantly. shoko’s exhausting 12-hour shifts at the hospital, usually during the late hours of the night. god, even satoru, who probably poured a significant amount of his father’s bank account into this gift to make up for his constant loitering.
the nissan silvia s15 spec-r, used but practically in mint condition with only 2,500 miles on it. a 4-cylinder turbo engine with horsepower up to 250. a 6 speed transmission, of course, and 274 newton-meters of torque.
it’s fucking beautiful.
it’s yours.
✰✰✰✰✰
it’s deep into the night when suguru, satoru, and shoko step outside for a cigarette. your papa has already gone to bed and the rest of the phantoms are gone. you had made sure to thank each and every one of them before they left. most stayed close during the evening, taking turns watching papa and kento guiding you through the foreign engine and its components.
it was just you and kento now, gently wiping down the sparkling red paint with soft towels in the peaceful silence of the garage. you sit on the concrete, getting the low corners of the nose while he leans over the hood, carefully erasing any fingerprints and dust.
“it’s quite the ride,” kento says quietly. his eyes droop with exhaustion from running around all day with papa and satoru to get the silvia in time.
“it really is," you smile. "thank you so much again, ken."
“you’ll be cruising along with us now,” he adds. “no need to ride in our passenger seats anymore like you used to.”
you can’t help but giggle, floating high and light through your sleepiness with the liquor and adrenaline of today. you think of all the times you’ve rode shotgun with each of the boys growing up, clutching onto the handles as they’d fly around just to make you shriek with happiness. it almost makes you want to cry, knowing those innocent days have ended, but you blink away the tears.
“i’ll still hop in with you every so often, don’t worry,” but kento doesn’t respond at first, instead he crouches down to your level.
“y/n, you should know that…” his voice is low, barely above a whisper as he pauses to glance at the cracked door. in the second of silence, you can hear your brother’s voice outside. kento’s brown eyes turn back and bore into you with insane intensity.
“…i saw you yesterday.”
he sees the confusion in your face. yesterday? wait—
“with takuma ino.”
fuck.
“…y-you did?” your voice shakes. you internally panic, you don’t know what to say.
“at the skate park, didn’t i?”
oh, he’s got you now. you hesitate in how to respond, but then silently nod your head. you’ve never lied to kento, and you won’t start now.
“i thought so.”
“i’m sorry…” you whisper. your heart pounds so loudly in your chest that you’re afraid kento can hear it. his eyes soften just the slightest bit.
“you didn’t know i live in that area as well, didn’t you?” his question sounds more like a statement. you shake your head, frightful tears forming in your eyes. you can’t even imagine the angry words your brother will chastise you with when he finds out, or worse, the angry fists he'd throw at takuma. “calm down. i’m not going to tell suguru.”
“you’re not?”
“no. it’s not my business.”
he stands up on his feet once more. you swallow harshly, willing the blush on your cheeks and the beating in your chest to calm down. kento has never scared you, but as you look up at his towering stance from the floor, you’re nothing but intimidated.
“but you will tell him when the time is right. and you will be careful around ino and the shadows. do you understand?”
“i understand,” you manage to croak out. you feel like you’re being disciplined by your father, or maybe your high school principle. kento just nods and motions for you to stand up beside him.
“you will also drive safely and responsibly with this new car,” his finger taps the hood. “only your father and i are allowed to tune this engine. if you get in an accident, it will be because of your driving. i will not allow this motor to fail on you under any circumstances whatsoever. if there is even a speck of dust positioned incorrectly on this motor, i will not allow you to race. do you understand?”
“yes, i understand.”
“i know your brother has told you about what happened to yu. i won’t allow anything like that to happen to you,” his face changes ever so slightly, an unreadable expression. your heart skips a beat, you know all about what happened to yu haibara.
you’ve seen glimpses of the burn marks on kento’s side, the ones from him pulling his childhood friend from a blazing car. yu haibara didn’t stand a chance, he had died in the initial wreck before the engine even caught on fire. kento had crawled out of the passenger seat, bones snapped in half and stabbing through his skin, before crawling back in when he realized yu hadn’t come out yet. bleeding and broken, he had cradled yu’s lifeless body on the touge of mount fuji until help finally came to him. kento has never raced since.
“thank you, ken,” you whisper. you know he's dead serious, he would never say such a thing if he didn't truly and absolutely mean it.
kento pulls you in for a swallowing hug, the musk of his cologne filling your lungs as he wraps you into his chest.
“damn,” you turn at satoru’s teasing voice. “someone take a picture, ken’s showing emotion.”
the trio enters the garage with drowsy faces, reeking of tobacco. kento lets go, you pray they only caught the last part of your conversation.
“all cleaned up, huh?” suguru whistles.
your brother steps between you to lean over and closely inspect the glowing red paint, kento stands stiffly on the other side of him. you glance at him. he has a soft, knowing look in his eyes, and dimples emerge in his cheeks as he puts on gentle smile. you have complete trust in knowing that kento will keep your secret safe as he opens his mouth to speak.
“yeah. all cleaned up.”
✰✰✰✰✰
all week long, you wake up early and stay up late. the boys work with you every day while your papa tinkers alongside you between his own clients. shoko stops by after her shifts for a beer and cigarette to watch the boys work.
the first engine modifications include a better cold air intake and exhaust, while kento insists that he reprograms the ecu so your throttle response is absolutely perfect. suguru orders brand new coilovers while satoru and your papa lightly argue over which strut and sway bars will be best for you.
the five of you spend an entire day on new tires and cambers until the angle is exactly the way you want it, and another few days installing a gorgeous wide body kit for the wheels. papa focuses on replacing the stock clutch and gear shifter. kento helps you with the brake calipers and pads. you thought you knew plenty about cars and motors, but each hour you feel like you’re being introduced to a new component or tool that you didn’t know existed.
at the end of every night, you’re leaning against the shower wall with sleepy eyes trying to scrub the grease and oil from the crevices of your skin and the bed of your fingernails. you’re not sure the dark smell of the motor will ever leave your hair, but you slide into your bed light-headed and happy knowing your family loves you enough to provide so much for you.
you don’t talk to takuma much as week passes, only a few messages here and there. you’re too busy feeling filthy with guilt every time the boys open up a box of brand new parts for your car. but every time you start to say something, someone is shushing you. you know how expensive each part is, and on top of the expense of the car… you feel sick to your stomach just thinking about how many digits follow the dollar sign.
although you’ve taken your new silvia for a few spins, you’re itching to get out to the mountain as the week comes to an end and the car comes closer to completion. it’s all you’ve wanted to do all summer, all you’ve wanted to do for years, and now you finally have your very own vehicle to do so.
the large door of the garage is wide open and the sun is setting, shooting rays of gold into the garage and over the silvia. warm summer breezes sift through the shop. suguru talks you through properly applying a sticker on your back windshield. it’s the same one you’ve seen on all the boys’ cars; a bright white hooded ghost figure with glowing red eyes— a phantom. when you’re finished wiping it down, your brother ruffles your hair and smiles.
“let’s go to mount hakone.”
you truly couldn’t be happier. there’s no races tonight, but there’s still a few scattered cars hanging out around the straight. a few of them take casual passes through the mountain, but nothing high stakes. you recognize a few familiar phantom faces and make sure to take the time to greet them and show them your finished project, thanking them incessantly for helping your family purchase the silvia until they’re practically begging you to stop.
everyone shows respect when suguru announces he wants you to have a turn through alone. they stay back on the shoulder to wait until you come back through again, giving you supportive words as you start warming up the engine. suguru hands you the black helmet from the passenger seat for the nth time.
“where did you even get this?” you ask him as you pull it over your hair. “you’ve never even owned a motorcycle.”
“it’s for your safety,” he reaches over to make sure the chinstrap is tight enough.
“i asked where, not why,” you giggle.
“i don’t even remember. it’s been laying around in my closet for a while.”
“it’s a cool helmet! practically brand new.”
“you’re the only one to wear it.”
you fasten your new seatbelt across your chest, a red racing harness that matches the maroon paint of the silvia. suguru does the same before pulling on your straps once more.
“i got it!” you whine. “it’s tight enough.”
“i just need to be sure,” he settles back in the passenger seat. “let’s run it.”
you press the gas, making the glistening new tires spin in place against the rough concrete until your gut tells you they’re sticky enough. your foot lifts from the brake, and the car is set free. your mind thinks of nothing except redlining the engine and the upcoming turn the entire way through.
your mind has made friends with each bend, rock, and tree along the path. every time you come to mount hakone, your confident builds higher and higher. and with the silvia now in your control, you’re raring to go. each day that passes means your time in japan is getting shorter, and you want— no, need— to get faster.
back at the straight, suguru whistles as you pull the handbrake for the final time and take out the key. the engine stands still and hot, you can hear the faint tick tick ticking under the hood as you tear off the constricting helmet. your hair sticks to your forehead, damp with sweat, as you try and catch your breathe. suguru shows you his phone screen.
8:42:35
it’s nowhere close to suguru’s. although unofficial because of its illegality, all the street racers in tokyo know that your brother holds the fastest time at mount hakone— 6:48:02.
“8 minutes?” you whine, even though it’s a whopping 5 seconds faster than the last pass you completed.
“this is an insanely good time,” suguru chuckles.
“no it’s not! it’s over 2 minutes slower than you.”
“relax, clutch—”
“—and a minute and 40-something seconds slower than toru.”
“you’ve already gotten so much faster since you—”
“—and a minute and 38 seconds slower than kento!”
“cool it,” suguru warns against your rare show of brattiness. “don’t pout about it. this is still faster than a lot of racers around here.
you’re still panting. you unclasp the seatbelt, slouching as your head falls back into the black suede of the headrest and close your eyes.
“you’re right, suguru. i’m sorry,” you say softly. “i’m sorry, i’m just tense from all that. it’s a good time, i know that.”
“don’t apologize, it’s alright,” he reassures. “let’s take a break.”
you pull your car to the shoulder and practically kick open the door to get out. although the icy air you had blasting during the race kept your skin cool, the cool mountain air made you feel as if you could actually breathe again. a handful of phantoms come over to you, complimenting your improving time and suggesting helpful tips while another round of racers loudly speed into the mountains.
a pair of boys your age stand off to the side, listening closely until the others leave. the dark-haired one with sleepy eyes holds a hand out to your brother first. unlike takuma, it seems like he already knows how not to piss suguru off.
“geto-san, nice to meet you,” he smiles. “my name is yuta okkotsu.”
suguru returns his smile and shakes his hand. okkotsu and his friend turn to you with a small bow before he places a hand on the shoulder of the smaller blonde boy wearing a black mask over his mouth and nose.
“this is toge inumaki,” he continues. “he’s mute, but he can hear you just fine.”
“oh, nice to meet you!” you smile.
“inumaki was wondering if you’d like to race tomorrow night, before ino-san and gojo-san,” okkotsu explains with his eyes trained on you. you look back at him but your mind is elsewhere. you didn’t know takuma and satoru were set to race tomorrow.
“uh, me?” you ask. you’re a little surprised, you weren’t expecting someone to approach you first, especially knowing now that people didn’t want you to race. inumaki raises his hands, fingers swimming through the air as he signs to okkotsu.
“if it’s alright with the both of you,” he explains. you can see the raised cheekbones of inumaki’s smile from under his mask. “inumaki just started racing as well, he thought it would be good experience for the both of you.”
“what’s your time?” suguru asks, but he speaks directly to inumaki. the boy’s eyes dart from suguru to okkotsu, nervous that suguru won’t be able to understand him. but he raises his hands anyways, and the slender fingers start to move.
eight. three. nine.
“8 minutes, 39 seconds?” suguru clarifies, inumaki nods. he clearly doesn’t care that the boy can’t speak, he just wants to know how fast he is.
“and what team are you two with?” he asks.
“we aren’t on any team,” okkotsu answers. “we’re pretty new to the scene, we just race for fun. and we don’t race for pinks or money.”
“how old are you two?”
“…17,” the boy smiles sheepishly. your brother chuckles lightly.
“well, how ‘bout it, clutch?” suguru hums. “you wanna race this guy?”
“…can i?” you respond. you’re asking suguru if he thinks you’re ready for a true touge race more than you’re asking for his permission to.
“if you want. i think you’re ready.” you smile at your brother and turn back to the boys. you hope you don’t seem too giddy, but your heart pounds with the anticipation of your first real race.
“let’s do it, inumaki-kun!”
he puts his hand to his chin and out, thank you. then, a fist with his pinky and thumb out with a gentle shake, shaka. you giggle lightly as you mimic his hands.
“but first,” suguru steps forward, towering over the boys. “we’ll do three practice passes right now with the two of you. she’s never gone through with a second car. we’ll take it slow and easy, keep your distance from her.”
inumaki nods and your brother turns to you.
“i’ll ride with you in the first round, but that’s it,” it’s your turn to nod to suguru. “helmet on, clutch. let’s go.”

🪡Chapter Twelve: Reminded me of You
You leaned against the table, watching a few other people walk in and out of the room. Although it was after class hours, there had more people in the studio than usual, though thankfully nothing too overcrowded.
“Hey, here’s your stuff, i’m sorry we had to meet up kinda late again,” Ino spoke as he handed you the folded shirt and pants. “Thanks, and don’t worry about it, I was gonna come in to work on Yuki’s dress anyway.” You fixed the outfit into your bag, and began walking off, Ino following behind. “Good luck on your project Ino, from what you’ve showed me I think it’s going really well.” From the short time you’ve been around him, you could tell Ino was very optimistic and social. When you met with him he’d usually go off talking about whatever to keep the conversation going, and it always seemed to work.
“Thanks y/n, I really hope so, though I think i’m just gonna go get something from the shop outside my dorm building and sleep. I’m done for today. What about you?” You two continued making your way out as you talked. “I’m visiting my friend, the one that’s helping out Yuji with his project.” From past conversations you had found out that Ino knew Yuji, and apparently Megumi too.
“Oh cool, you gonna go help them too?” “No, just bringing them some stuff from the store, Nobara sent me the location.” “Oh nice, well if we’re heading the same way I don’t mind walking around with you.” “Sure that’s fine.”
Unlucky for you, once you bought everything you wanted, two large bottle sodas and a couple bags of chips and candies, the cashier had told you they had just run out of bags. You tried your best to carry it, putting a couple in your bag, but not much could fit and the sodas were becoming uncomfortable to carry. You started considering just leaving some of it behind. “Need help?” You turned your head to see Ino, who only had a bag of chips in his hand. “If we’re going to the same building I can help you drop it off.” “um well.. that would be helpful, yeah.”
Yuji opened the door, only to find you and Ino, both with hands full. “Hey Yuji, surprise!”
“Y/n, Ino what are you guys doing here?” “I’m just helping out, but it’s nice to see you man!”
“Who is it?” you heard an all too familiar voice ask from behind Yuji. He whipped his head around to face Megumi who had shown up beside him. “Hey Megumi, long time no see!” Ino announced.
“Hey Megumi!”
Megumi got up from the small living area and walked to the kitchen island in the shared dorm between Junpei and his roommate, who was currently out somewhere. He saw Yuji excitedly grab a bag of chips and rip it open. Junpei leaning against the counter laughing at his behaviour.
“Megumi, I got you something, I remember you said you liked things that pair with ginger, and I saw these and thought of you, I don’t know if you’ll like it but there’s other chips if you don’t want them.” You held up a bag of some type of Lay’s flavored chips with ginger, he had never really seen them before, but just the fact that you had bought them with him in mind was enough for him to give them a try. “Thanks, these are actually my favorite.” A white lie never hurt anyone. Yuji spoke up, “Really I thought that-” “These are my favorite.”
Author’s Note: when i was writing the chip part i had lays wasabi and ginger chips in mind, they’re low key good ngl i recommend if anyone likes those flavors
hope you guys enjoyed!
