My Girls

Leona Belmont - The Lioness Center:  Age 21 Top Left:  Age 2 Top Right:  Age 8 Bottom Right:  Age 5 (Wasn't my intention, but my sister asked me if she's wearing her dad's shirt...so I'm going with it.  The horse should look familiar.) Bottom Left:  Age 12 Leona:  The Spanish word for lioness.  Feminine form of Leon. I've done a lot of composite character drawings in attempts to create an idea of what X and Y characters' child would look like, and so far Leona is one I'm very proud of.  I think I blended Sypha and Trevor's features pretty well.

Catherina Belmont - The Necromancer

Center:  Age 19 Top Left:  Age 12 Top Right:  Age 6 Bottom Left:  Age 3 Months Catherina:  Name meaning unknown.  Believed to be derived from Hekate, Goddess of Magic, or Greek word 'kathoros' meaning 'pure.' Catherina was a tricky design.  I wanted her to resemble Sypha more than Trevor, but I didn't want to polarize the sisters appearances by giving Catherina their mother's auburn hair and Leona their father's dark hair.  So I considered their ancestor Leon's blond hair has been passed down the family line.

Simon Belmont - The Huntsman Center:  Age 15 Top Left:  Days Top Right:  Age 3 Bottom Right:  Age 6 Bottom Left:  Age 11 Simon:  Name meaning ‘He has heard.’  Derived from the Greek form of the Hebrew name Shim-on. Simon is the lastborn child and only son of Sypha and Trevor.  Between Simon and his sisters, his talents are not as obvious.  He’s not magically gifted like Catherina and he does not have the obvious fighter’s physique like Leona.  Nonetheless, despite the lean design I gave him, Simon is a skilled bowman.  (Context:  Draw weights of medieval bows could be anywhere from 90 to 185 pounds of force, depending on the type of bow.)

Not ‘Simon’s Quest’ Simon.  This is a reference to the Lords of Shadow branch of the franchise, which exists outside the timeline.  Also, I’m keeping to the medieval tradition that names within families repeat like you wouldn’t believe.

Running with Wolves

As a 7’3” woman, Leona’s ideal weight should be in the 198 - 240 lb (90 - 108 kg) range.  Since she is a more muscular character, she’s probably on the heavier side of this spectrum.

The standard guideline is that most horse breeds should be able to carry up to 20% of their body weight, although a lot of factors such as specific breed, individual health, and physiology can affect this, as can the experience of the rider.  So technically a horse breed comparable to a thoroughbred or an Arabian can carry a heavier person, but this isn’t taking into account tack or any gear Leona might be carrying with her.

Thus we have Titan, the massive Shire horse who was a gift from Alucard and Greta.

Watching the Border

"Our family has fought and died through generations for this country.  We do this thing for Wallachia and her people." ... I’ve seen Trevor’s height listed as 6′ exactly.  Leona clocks it in at 7′3″ This aspect of her design started as a joke, and then it just kinda stuck around because 1.) there’s comedic possibility here for razzing between the siblings and 2.) a seven foot tall vampire hunter lady is hella intimidating.  (Avatar Kyoshi levels of badass.) Plus, I just imagine her growing up, starting her growth spurt and reaching Sypha’s height and that’s perfectly average.  And then she keeps going and reaches Trevor’s height and everyone thinks,  “Okay, so she’s going to be a tall woman.”  And then one morning, she stands up after breakfast, heads out, and Sypha turns to Trevor and says,  “Is she taller than you?”  Just the absolute disbelief/amazement of the firstborn baby girl growing up into this formidable beast of a woman.

So yeah, Leona. Definitely the warrior of the family.

Since the loss of his family, he had believed he would live and die the last of his line, and he’d made his peace with that.  For what reason could he justify fathering a child to whom he could give nothing?  Till he felt that life stirring within her, he had barely allowed himself to believe it at all.  The very idea then invoked a slew of thoughts and emotions in him:  apprehension, joy, panic, warmth, yearning.

Clockwise from top left:  Leon Belmont age 16 (Trevor's cousin), Trevor Belmont age 12, Marguerite Belmont age 12 (Trevor's foster sister), Leona Belmont age 14 (Trevor's biological sister.) These four are characters from Court of Intrigue, a Hellsing and Castlevania crossover by yours truly as AutumnMobile12, available on both Fanfiction.net and Archive of Our Own. I really like the idea the Belmonts weren't entirely European, included multiple cultures, and were a essentially a genetic roulette.  The series depicts them as a well-traveled family, so it's entirely probable a bunch of them found a significant other from far off, brought them home back home to Wallachia, and nobody said a word about it because love.  Out of these four, Marguerite is the only one not biologically related to the others.
