Uma grande e agradável surpresa. "Mulher-maravilha - sementes da guerra" de Leigh Bardugo é uma maravilhosa história da mulher-maravilha. Não esperava um livro tão bom. A autora é fã da #diana, logo ela soube o tom certo que uma história de mulher-maravilha tem. Ela mostra uma história antes dela ter o título onde diana ajuda uma mortal a voltar para o mundo dos homens, mas essa mortal é descendente de Helena de #tróia, logo uma semente da guerra. Se ela atingir a idade adulta, a guerra vira ao mundo dos homens. Muito bem escrito. Uma das melhores coisas que li sobre #mulhermaravilha desde o filme. was reading joss wheadons script of wonder woman and one thing that really struck with me was--

in both stories-- in joss w’s and the actual movie’s-- the amazons had been imprisoned by men, themycera being their safe heaven from them. but while in the movie the amazons are capable, wonderful, powerful warriors and staged a revolution to free themselves, in jw’s version they only prayed to athena, who set them free, and later on they sequestred themselves in themycera as their safe heaven.

in the movie, steve trevors presence brings with it the knowledge of a great war happening on the outside-- and its the one thing hipólita fears because it could be might be probably is ares, which means her daughter would be in danger. but in joss w’s version, steves presence is terrible because he is a man, and in themycera they have The First Law, which dictates that no man shall set foot on the island, least the amazons be destroyed.

the amazons bracelets are symbols of their slavement. i found this very particular because theres a scene when hipolita states this to diana: ‘you wear our symbols, but you don’t rememebr what it was like. the slavery.’

the bracelets arent a symbol of their hard-won freedom, of their might, of how men wronged them and so they revolted and found liberty-- the bracelets are symbols of their slavery itself, reminders of the wrongdoings of men, and why the First Law exists.

at least up until the point i read. its an important difference, i think.
