All good things come to an end...

...and the same goes for this year’s GISH.

This year we’ve helped clear farm of landmines in Laos. Even gotten some long-needed aid to the innocent souls who’ve been hurt by the leftovers of war and hatred. It moves me to see that there’s still compassion, that maybe there’s reason not to lose faith in humanity just yet and that it will spread.

Thankfully there’s still the glory of HARSH which leads to the coffee table book. And of course there are the amazing memories. And I’ve still got the most amazing friends (basically the team I’ve enjoyed GISHing with these two past seasons) whom I adore!

But GISH itself is over.

What have I done? Not as much as I would like ‘cause I’d started new work. But I got a few things sorted in the name of TheModern19:

But why stop there? No, I enjoyed tripping the Light Fantastic!

And then there was the googly eye beard on a lumberjack, the Collector’s Trading Card (GISHimon) featuring my team, and the origin story of this ear’s mascot (The AssButt) where I had the honour of drawing a page from the children’s book version:

Did I say I love all that is GISH and the wonderful team I’m on? Those people have dragged me out of a depressive episode, brought joy to my life and become trusted friends whom I’d go out of my way to help...and visit.

So yeah,

I blame you, @mishacollins and @gishwhes for all the wonders of the past week.

GISH is nearly upon us! So what better place than to shine some light on the amazing team I find myself on. Follow us and other GISH’ers as we try to make the world a better place through crazy creativeness kindness.

GISH and Random Acts are at it again this year, trying to make the world a better place by any means necessary! This year we’re paying extra attention to Rwanda where are remarkable group of women have survived massacres that grew into genocides. Years have passed, but any helps and kindness still goes a long way so please donate time, resources or money if you can or spread the word. A little bit goes a long way! Don’t let the world forget! Don’t let people suffer.

There's a lot of bad stuff happening in the world. Things I wish could be changed quickly.

For instance: I don't understand how a country that historically has claimed to be all about freedom and human rights and living a dream is, in fact, a nightmare.

How can a nation's leader decide to intervene in the affairs of other countries under the guise of democracy and justice when their own prisons are filled with wrongfully accused or perpetrators of petty crimes cooped up under inhuman conditions and with serious criminals who pose a threat. Criminals or not. Those incarcerated are still human and are to be treated as such rather than suffer through illness - like covid- without the proper care.

Help us make a change. Help wrongfully mistreated ppl get a chance of reclaiming their dignity and the lives they had build before blind discrimination and hatred doomed them.

Post-GISH post

Once I finally got down from the glorious state of hyperactivity and lack of sleep combined with sugar and caffeine and heat...well then I got to sleep. And Chuck saw it was good and decreed that it should be so for 3 days and 3 nights (give or take a couple of hours and some pee breaks).

But now I’m back! Not from outer space (though it kinda feels that way) and I’m realizing that I have three WIPs to pay attention to as well as prepping for the new semester. 

Am I pay attention to any of that? Partially. As in...one WIP is now a WIP stuck in limbo while I’m searching for the right catalyst. Apart from that I’m lounging in the post-GISH-blues while pretending not to hope that my amazing group and I’ve got a chance to win, because then when we don’t I won’t be sad. In fact I should hope to lose ‘cause they’ve been incredible and I’d hate not to chat with them again.
