My first page for #theminimalistartjournal 2.0 with @cayleegrey . What makes this a minimalist page for me is that I would normally keep going, adding more details or more writing until I can鈥檛 think of anything more to add. Instead I stopped before I ran out of ideas. An unfamiliar feeling but I kinda like it! Also, I think this might be the first time I鈥檝e ever included a photo of myself in a page. Can you believe it??!!

This ALSO started as a Minimalist Art Journal tutorial...
"Why is Minnesota still the center of the F Scott Fitzgerald universe even though he didn't really like it all that much?"
Scraped acrylic paint, fingerpainted acrylic paint, gel plate printing on deli paper (dry waxed paper), collage.

I decided that using carbon paper, type, and a hand-cranked proofing press counted as Minimalist Art Journaling.

For my Minimalist Art Journal - I was trying a matte medium image transfer here - it was sort of successful. The grey blotches on the image are where I didn鈥檛 rub away all the paper because of bubbles (which leave behind much worse white blotches).
I love this image! The source is an 8x10 black & white photo that I must鈥檝e picked up at Art Scraps in St Paul at some point.
"She could not be reached." -Jane Evershead
Matte medium, black and white photocopy, black acrylic paint, white Gelly Roll gel pen.

It鈥檚 in my mini Minimalist Art Journal, but this one was all me, no tutorial. These are sticker sheets I letterpress printed in the platen printing class I took recently at MCBA. Both were happy accidents! On the left, I forgot to reink my type a couple of times. On the right, my sticker sheet fell as I was printing it and somehow became the tale of an isolated, despondent stick figure!

My artist self for an assignment from a class I鈥檓 taking online (The Minimalist Art Journal 2).
India ink, collage (from scraps I use to catch overspray when I鈥檓 working with alcohol acrylic spray ink and stencils - the incomplete typewritten text on the scraps was about my artistic archetypes, so it seemed very appropriate for this!), zInk photo sticker, stick-on letters.

I was testing an acrylic painting technique in my Minimalist Art Journal and used my favorite acrylic paint color. You鈥檒l never guess what it is! ;)
