Sorry to bust everyone's meme bubble but this is the first ever recorded instance of this behaviour being witnessed, let alone photographed.
On top of that, the A pod of which A99 Alder is a part of is also part of the Northern Residents, which are seperate from the J, K and L pods which make up the Southern Residents. The photo is originally from the OceanWise Instagram, who shared this picture in Feb 2022;
Pretty sure if this was a regularly occurring behaviour it would have been captured on film by the scientists who have been studying the Southern Residents for literal decades, The Whale Museum.
I ran an orca-focused blog (@themagicof-orca) for 10+ years, focused primarily on the SRKW and New Zealand populations in the later period; I'm pretty sure if this had been a common occurrence passed between matrilines and pod members it would have crossed my radar during that time or been mentioned from one of the several blogs I followed focused on these magnificent creatures.
I love this post so much
#I'm sorry I couldn't not say something š¤·āāļø#these creatures are wonderfully playful but this....isn't true at all lmao

Girl where's that 31 day orca challenge? I want the point on saving water for my housemate >.> she's refusing to limit her showers even though she's the one normally more environmentally conscious that I am i.e shops locally for veg and fruits
HereĀ :)Limiting shower time also doesn't just save water being wastedĀ (The average 15-minute shower can use as much as 25 gallons of water.) but saves energy/gas on the water being heated for it as well.Also depending on your shower type you can put a bucket to catch the waste water as it heats up to use elsewhere :3 (my mother uses it to flush the toilet for example)

themagicof-orcaĀ said:Ā If thatās true she isnāt very good at hiding it lol hahahah no, my mum kinda funny that way. I also knew when she planned a weekend trip to Madrid to see a Paramore show. My mum knows dipshit about orcas, so she asked me about it. And we are basically just planning it now, cause she told me she wanted to give me an unforgettable 18th birthday present *-*Ā

99, 11, 71
11. Do you have any strange phobias? Well I have this weird thing about veins in guys arms where they're kind of like..."popping out" i guess??? It's really gross and it's hard to explain but here's a picture to help
71. You are walking down the street on your way to work. There is a dog drowning in the canal on the side of the street. Your boss has told you if you are late one more time you get fired. What do you do? Save the dog, duh. What kind of fucking heartless bastard would leave a dog to drown??? I could always find another job.
99. If the whole world were listening to you right now, what would you say? Don't be a cunt. Everyone is trying to live and if you're being a piece of shit, you're just making it that much harder for yourself and everyone else to live their lives. Do things that make you happy, hang out with your friends, go on a drive to a new place once every week. Don't get caught up in little discrepancies; they don't matter in the end.

yay! how have you been?
Great thanks! Well while I was away at least :3 Injured myself at the airport on the way back quite badly so I'm back in my wheelchair for the foreseeable future :(Ā But on the bright side It was really cool coming off the plane in the lift they have because I got to see a really great view of the airbus's engines x3 -nerd moment- although the trip ended in a negative I'm concentrating on the positive :D

Hey there! Could you find out if it's going to be shown in Wellington, or any part of New Zealand before the CNN showing? I haven't heard anything myself, but maybe you'd know?
Yep! Under international screenings (click here), Blackfish will be shown in Wellington from the 28th of July to the 11th of August for the New Zealand Film Festival.
Itāll also be showing in Christchurch from the 1st to the 3rd of August, and Dunedin from the 10th to the 11th of August.
I hope that helps! :)
