I feel like, after Wukong killed him, it kinda puts everything that happened between them at doubt.

They had a whole history of friendship, yet Wukong still ended with his life. And if it happened once, it can happen again

And if Wukong hasn’t communicated at all, as far as Macaque knows, that was something he didn’t regret at all

What Can Macaque trust? Wukong’s actions? He can’t read them anymore, and his words might just be empty promises

They need to communicate clearly, and then act on it

Aaaaaaand they are disasters about it

the biggest disasters 🙄 they make me sick

and yeah maybe Mac has good reason to not trust the actions of Wukong now (or believe that older mannerisms he recognized as affection could mean the same thing at present). but he also hasn’t communicated either, taking to teasing and ruffling Wukong’s feathers instead lmao

both need to verbalize their wants but neither know how to and there is centuries of unsaid and layered issues to unpack……..they may need outside help for this……
