Vision. Just see it everyday in your mind and work on it. It will slowly manifest the way you want. But you must see it, feel it and believe in it with all your heart and never ever give up. Follow your heart always and be true to you. Ignore the haters and negative people who want you to fail. I have believed in my dream more than anything. It has made me resilient, resourceful, kept a roof over my head and kept my kids fed. It has brought me great joy teaching and performing. The whole process of creating and seeing songs and ideas manifest and to see kids “get it” there is nothing like it! To see kids happy makes me happy! It has been hard at times but music, dance and creating is what has kept me sane, safe, focused, happy and on my path. Creating The Joy House is my happy place. Song by song, dance by dance, class by class and show by show that is how I am creating my vision for The Joy House for all kids. Miss Joy teaching the kids to focus and have fun. At The Joy House she uses singing, song writing, exercising, dancing, ballet, gymnastics, designing and playing lots of Joy House games to get all the kids up and involved and interacting with her. This is where “The Idea” for The Joy House was created. Miss Joy used to go down to South Central everyday to teach and perform (in costume) before having kids. The commute was long but the kids there appreciated it and they really needed it. Then she started teaching for The Mayor of LA for lA’s Best- Best Faces and then with Hollywood PAL. The kids having fun with Miss Joy singing “Spin the world” and learning their countries. Miss Joy wants kids to think outside the box and to think and help her build and create so she asks them to think of a new countries. Most kids have never been outside LA but at The Joy House they can go anywhere and everywhere. Miss Joy has learnt kids have more fun and learn more when they are involved and participating and interactive learning is powerful.
