Toda trabalhada no girl power e no direito da mulher querer fazer o que quiser, Alex é bastante determinada e não abaixa a cabeça pra ninguém, ao mesmo tempo que tem alma gentil e solidária. Por não ter sido criada na sociedade e ser praticamente sozinha no mundo, Alex faz o que deseja, seja caçar um cometa no meio da noite ou arrumar relógios nas casas dos ricos. Apesar de romântica, ela é bem pé no chão e centrada quando se trata de seu envolvimento com Chase. ⠀ 🎎Chase é o típico libertino que se diz desapegado, mas tem um grande coração e um senso protetor, que ele esconde embaixo de sentimentos autodepreciativos. Ele também é bastante charmoso e envolvente. Apesar de um acontecimento do passado ainda o assombrar e fazer com que ele afaste as pessoas de sua vida, ele não consegue resistir ao sentimento crescente em relação a aia de suas protegidas. ⠀ 🎎Chase e Alex se tornaram um dos meus casais favoritos da Tessa. Eu digo que eles são uma versão mais madura de Minerva e Colin porque suas interações lembram demais o casal. Chase e Alex são bastante honestos um com outro, principalmente no tocante ao seu acordo de envolver sem compromisso e no crescente sentimento que aparece. Ou seja, gostei bastante do fato que eles sentam, conversam e discutem o que está acontecendo. ⠀ 🎎Rosamund e Daisy são duas irmãs que estão sob a tutela de Chase. Elas me lembraram bastante os filhos de Philip (Para Sir Phillip, Com Amor) simplesmente pelo fato de como tentam chamar atenção e carinho do seu tutor (Millicent, coitada, que o diga!). Gostei com a Tessa trabalhou a relação de Alex com as duas, principalmente pelo fato que Alex se via muito na duas crianças: abandonadas nas mãos de uma pessoa que, aparentemente, não se importa com elas. ⠀ 🎎A narração é feita em terceira pessoa, com diálogos super calorosos entre Chase e Alex. I find this book ridiculously adorable. Because of the way the author presented the story, chapter after chapter changing point of views on situations and the dialogue exchange. I think this book is not a simple romance or more precisely, a lighthearted historical romance, this book is about hopes and dreams and those frightening demons we all carry inside, side by side, and try our best to keep them balanced, try best not to let them overpower us. I know this, even though I haven't read the third book in the Girl Meets Duke series yet, this book is my favorite one among them. Don't get me wrong, I loved The Dutchess Deal and Ash will forever be my uniquely favorite character, but there is something about Chase Reynaud, the self-loathing rake, something more than a golden heart, and the careful persona, something more that comes out every time Alexander Mountbatten is around to criticize, to suggest, to scold to be bold working woman who deserves all the stars, each and every one of them. . . .
