Spencer Reid x Female Reader
Summary: Reid and the new agent on the team do not get along well. Confident and charismatic, Reid despises Y/N for her work habits but can't seem to get enough of her.
Warnings: N/A
Word Count: 1k
Spencer Reid hated Y/N. Not only had she replaced Emily's position when she went to Interpol, but she wrote all her paperwork in an amalgam of multicolor pens, wore a vanilla perfume that was too strong, laughed too loud, walked too loud as her heels clicked down stairs and hallways, and quite honestly she seemed way too incompetent to be on the team. That was why Reid was currently knocking on Hotch's office door to voice a complaint.
"Reid there's nothing I can do. No other members of the team have voiced complaints, she faxes everything to me in black and white, and she is an incredible asset to this team when it comes to interviews. Her social skills get lots of confessions and her body language reading is always spot on. Just because she doesn't know the radius of every US capitol does not make SS Y/L/N vapid."
"Hotch I'm serious. I can't focus with her around." Spencer replied in disbelief. How could Hotch not see all the problems right in from of his nose?
"Reid, how about instead of complaining about the attractive new agent that happens to be your age, you get to know her? We have a new case so tell everyone to meet in the conference room in five minutes," Hotch replied sternly. Spencer walked out of the conference room with a tight grip on Y/N's file and tense shoulders. As he stalked back to his desk he got another whiff of vanilla and cinnamon.
"Reid! Listen I know we have to meet in a few but I had a question for you." Y/N told Reid with a large grin. Her doe eyes blinked slowly back at him as she waited for his reply before going to grab the file he was holding.
"Is someone doing a little research on the new agent? I wonder what it says in here, I don't even know!" she giggled as Reid pushed his hands into his pocket and rolled on the balls of his feet. Y/N's eyes glazed over the manilla folder in awe. The folder was surprisingly thick. He hadn't gotten a chance to read it yet and he wondered what mysteries waited inside for him.
"Oh I wouldn't know, Hotch told me to pull it. That's why I was just in his office." He lied through his teeth, hand scratching the back of his head.
"You are a horrible liar Spencer Reid." Y/N responded as she handed the file back to a stunned Spencer. How did she know that? He watched her strut to the conference room with Y/H/C locks in a tight ponytail, black pants, and a deep purple turtleneck. He watched through the glass windows as she greeted Garcia with a wave and she sat down. He wanted to take a moment to finish the paperwork he was behind on, especially because of the five minutes he would never get back from that futile conversation with Y/N, but Hotch beckoned him to the conference room. As Penelope introduced their case, family murders in Kansas City, Reid watched Y/N across the conference room. She bit the edge of her pen in concentration, such a bad habit. Think of all the germs on desks and hands that touch her pen and touch her mouth. She bit her lip in concentration, not flinching at the grotesque images on the screen. He shivered as he thought about her lips and focused back on the case and how the youngest member of the family, a boy, had not been found dead yet.
While the rest of the team was at the dump site or interviewing relatives, Reid worked at the police station on a geographic profile. Y/N sat quietly as she helped Garcia work through the social medias of both families in search of clues. As Reid stared at the white board in front of him, he heard Y/N's phone ringing. Her voice came out in a whisper, "Garcia I have a thought. The families look picture perfect on their pages, but their body language is tense. The husband holds his hand around his wife's waist, but he stands far away. The daughter has her arms crossed. Can you cross reference the names and maybe couples therapy or family therapy? I know the husband has a gambling problem like you said, so you could also try support groups. I just feel like something's off. "
An hour or two later, the team got a call from Garcia. Spencer walked to Y/N to hear the speaker phone as Garcia spoke.
"Our newbie is a certified genius, watch out pretty boy. At Y/N's request I cross referenced the families and therapies and both families went to a wilderness camp to work on their bonds a few weeks before the kidnapping of family number one. That might be where they met the unsub and I'm working on that now." Garcia spoke through the phone, her colorful aura transferring through the telephone lines. Y/N put her hand up to Reid for a high five in excitement about their connection and her help in the case, "germs" he mumbled coldly as he walked back to the board without touching her. He felt her Y/N's bore into his back, and imagined her with a downturned mouth and hip popped. Her hair had been down and he heard her put it back up as she sat down and got back to work quietly. Y/N didn't bother him again and Reid was happy to have peace and quiet. He heard her type quietly and every so often let out deep breaths as she worked tediously through social media sites. The geographic profile was done and he went to grab coffee.
"Your coworker over there single? Or looking for a fun night?" One of the older cops joked as Reid filled his cup with sugar.
"No." He answered in the same cold tone as he had used on Y/N before walking away. He returned to the room and looked over Y/N's shoulder as she scrolled through the son's Instagram.
In the end, Y/N was right about the two families crossing paths at the wilderness retreat. The unsub was an electrician who had hidden cameras in the houses and the family was reunited, both happily and unhappily, and the team flew home. Reid focused on his book in hopes that no one would bother him, but Hotch sat next to him on the flight.
"I would say Y/N is an incredible asset to this team, don't you think?"

Spencer Reid x Female Reader
Summary: Reid and the new agent on the team do not get along well. Confident and charismatic, Reid despises Y/N for her work habits but can't seem to get enough of her.
Warnings: mentions of mental health, schizophrenia, and r*pe
Word Count: 1.4k
Reid intended to spend his well deserved weekend off in stacks of library books, devoid of all thoughts of work and Y/N. He would not even pause to strategize what he could to get her off the team. He didn't want to mess up this girl's job, but she just was unfit for the team and didn't have what it took to be an agent. Many people don't have the guts to fight crime every day and put your life on the line. The BAU was comprised of some of the best people in their fields, so it wasn't truly her fault. Reid chided himself for thinking of her and tried to get back to reading before he got a call from Garcia, "Urgent case, be ready in 30. We're debriefing on the plane. Sorry to ruin the weekend." Garcia stated grimly. Her usual flamboyance was hidden at the disappointment of an interrupted weekend. Everyone on the team loved what they did, but a break is often well deserved from the emotional intensity of such a career path. Reid was already in a bad mood when he entered the BAU. Of course he was on a bad luck streak as Y/N motioned for Reid to stop the elevator so she could go up with him. She was haphazardly dressed in denim jeans and a big wool sweater. Her hair was tied up in a ponytail and remnants of glitter still caressed her soft face. Loose curls framed her face that had escaped from her hair tie. It was 9:45 on a Saturday, so he could guess where she had spent the night. Her light smile turned to a slight look of confusion as he realized that he had been staring at her for too long a time. Reid quickly hit the elevator button and both of them went up in silence. Despite clear evidence she had not showered in the last few hours, the elevator still smelled lightly of vanilla when they left and walked to the conference room. Garcia stood in front of the board lacking her usual full face of makeup.
"Today we are traveling down to Florida! We have a serial killer and rapist on the loose. As of right now we have three bodies, all of which were broken out of various mental hospitals across the state. We have three females in their early 40's to mid 50's. He rapes them pre-mortem and they were found in shallow graves by a hiker. Hiker has an alibi. I'm trying to access the victim's records but I'm encountering some backlash. " Garcia presented as images of women in torn hospital gowns flashed across the screen. Reid watched Y/N wince slightly at the images, not enough to be noticed by anyone but him. Just a slight crinkle in the eye, a tenseness in the shoulders. "So we definitely have someone with mommy issues." Morgan profiled, a slight joking tone to his voice.
"We can talk on the plane. Leaving in 30." Hotch responded, standing up and moving to get ready.
"JJ and Morgan I want you guys interviewing the hiker and talking with police. Spencer and Y/N, I want you to go to the ME and check out the bodies. Rossi and I are going to the dump site." Hotch ordered, his eyes sticking on Spencer for an extra second, almost willing him to object. He didn't because he know Hotch's plan. Enemies on a team this close were not encouraged, so Hotch was making him spend enough time with Y/N until he found something to like about her.
"I know what you are doing." Reid whispered to Hotch as Y/N grabbed coffee for the road to the ME. The glitter on her cheekbones still shined under the harsh police station lighting like tiny diamonds reflecting off her skin.
"Then do it." Hotch responded harshly as he left a shocked Reid to climb in a cruiser with Rossi.
The ride was silent, Reid behind the wheel of a black suburban. Y/N sipped her coffee slowly and glanced out the window. The palm trees reflected in her Y/E/C eyes as they drove.
"You can sit in the car if you want." He stated in a monotone sigh.
"No, my master's in psychology I'm hoping I can get a look and figure out what they were in for." Y/N responded calmly, though her body language showed it was clear she felt the tension in the car. She hopped out and started for the ME as Reid gathered the keys and his badge. Y/N was already talking with the ME, a man around their age with a kind smile and buff physique. She stared up at him and bashed her eyes slowly as he spoke to her about the bodies. Was she flirting with him? Unbelievable. Reid rolled his eyes and interrupted their conversation.
"Ready?" He urged, wanting to get away from Y/N as fast as possible.
"I noticed some abnormal shrinking and enlarged, fluid areas in the cerebral tissue of all the patients. The last patient had the most shrinkage as you can see here," The ME pointed to a pale blonde body.
"Evident of schizophrenia, right?" Y/N interjected before Spencer could. He glared at her quickly, catching her intense gaze at the brain the ME was holding.
"There was shrinkage in each victim?" Reid questioned as he examined the body next to the one the ME was at.
"Yes."
"The unsub could be targeting middle aged schizophrenia patients as a replacement for a mother figure or maybe a romantic interest because of the rape aspect? The son could even have schizophrenia himself if the mother has, since it has strong genetic components." Y/N rambled but Spencer tuned her out as he focused on the brain of the second victim. A small hole incision was between her frontal lobe and amygdala.
"This one had a lobotomy done, most likely by the unsub due to the roughness of the incision."
"That was evident in none of the other victims." The ME stated slowly as he examined the brain Spencer was looking at.
"This is the only brunette," Y/N stated slowly as Reid could almost see cogs turning in her head.
"We better call the team, thank you." Y/N responded kindly to the ME, waving slowly as they headed out.
After an update to the team on what they had learned, the car returned to silence before Reid interjected harshly, "you know, if you could stop flirting with every medical professional we come in contact with that would be swell."
"I was not flirting with him. I was being nice. Plus why do you care I'm a free woman who can do whatever she pleases." Y/N responded firmly, turning to face Reid as he focused on the road. "I'm honestly shocked you would even say that. Just because your 'professional' includes only talking business doesn't mean mine can't include a little bit of kindness."
"You were eye fucking him like the whole time."
"Well you are the one examining my eyes! And sexualizing me!" Y/N huffed as she stared at Reid's white knuckles on the steering wheel.
"I'm trying to get you to be professional, you already stick out enough." Reid responded angrily.
"What is that supposed to mean." Y/N quickly said, and it was evident he had hit a soft spot by the way she slinked back into the chair and waited for a response. Reid turned back to the road as satisfaction mixed with guilt in his stomach. Tears pooled but didn't fall, except a single one that Y/N quickly brushed away. Reid still noticed.
They didn't talk for the rest of the case. Reid had obviously hit a rough spot for Y/N and the whole team felt it. They barely caught the unsub, Y/N being right again about a son with schizophrenia. The feelings of both happiness to avoid her and guilt about hurting Y/N swirled in his stomach as Morgan approached him when they got off the jet.
"Whatever is going inside that genius brain of yours, you need to figure it out. Y/N is apart of the family now and we need to treat her like it. Getting her kicked off has been a bigger distraction than whatever you think she does. You clearly aren't yourself and you're falling behind on your work." He ordered, in true big brother fashion like Morgan always did. Reid just nodded in response as he watched Y/N step off the plane with JJ. She walked past him without a single glance, no bright smile, no cliche comment or gleaming eyes. All that was left was a wind of vanilla.

Spencer Reid x Female Reader
Summary: Reid and the new agent on the team do not get along well. Confident and charismatic, Reid despises Y/N for her work habits but can't seem to get enough of her.
Warnings: none I can think of
Word Count: 1k
The rain outside had slowed as the tea kettle boiled. Reid wondered how last week he had hated her and now, Y/N was in her apartment leaving the scent of vanilla on his couch and in his head.
"Do you have peppermint?" She smiled as she admired Spencer's appointment. Her eyes glowed deep y/e/c as they glossed over the covers upon covers of books falling off his bookcase. Little Women, War and Peace, Crime and Punishment, and Beloved all adorned his wall. Y/N was a reader herself, holding Beloved in her hand like a precious ruby.
"I adored this book, read it in high school." She offered. Spencer was so hot and cold with her that she half expected him to push her out as soon as she crossed the threshold of his dark apartment. But he didn't. Instead, his ears perked up at the start of academic conversation.
"Toni Morrison outdid herself. So many analogies and allegories, I almost didn't want to finish it in 5 minutes." He smiled, not trying to be cocky in his comments but sometimes it seemed that way. Blush rose on his cheeks, but Y/N never assumed bad about Spencer. She instead said something surprising.
"It must be hard to have a brain that moves so fast. I loved reading the pages over and over again, deciphering meanings and being excited to pick it up again when I don't have the time to finish a book in one sitting. I wouldn't want to read a book in five minutes and be done with it." She rambled as she smoothed the dog eared pages of Lord of the Flies, completely missing Spencer's shocked face. He wasn't upset, or angry, just shocked. Never before had someone understood the way his IQ was sometimes a burden. People wrote it off as a gift and laughed when he wished he was normal. He picked his jaw up from the floor as she turned to face him. Silence covered the room like a blanket.
"No one's really understood that before." He stated simply, eyes looking deep into Y/N's. He saw more this time, deep galaxies and compounding emotions all in a y/e/c iris. Someone who understood him and didn't see him as the "residential genius" but instead as a person. The whistle of the tea kettle interrupted his trance before his stare became creepy and he turned so quickly that he knocked an auburn Cal Tech mug off the counter and watched as it shattered into shards of what the mug once was.
"I'll get that, you get the tea." Y/N said softly, eyes gleaming as she kneeled down to gather some of the peaces. Reid could not help an unholy thought or two as she quickly walked to take the kettle off of the stove and grabbed a new mug with a Quantico logo on it.
"I hope you enjoy milk and honey." Reid smiled as he mixed the teas and passed Y/N one. Led to the couch, she sat next to him so that their knees slightly touched.
"Tell me about your family." She spoke, unknowing of the absolute wreck in store for her. He only laughed a took another sip of his tea.
"Loaded question, we'd be here a while."
"I have time if you want to talk, I'm also eyeing the copy of The Bell Jar you have sitting on your bookshelf if you don't." This is what Reid did like about Y/N. She didn't push. He knew she had heard stories of his past, but she never treated him different or pressured him to know. She waited until Hotch quietly told her about Hailey one night on the plane. She was easy to talk to, a rare type who actually listened when you spoke and didn't speak to fill the air.
"Come on, tell me about all the Beethoven I'm sure your mom played when you were in her belly to make you a genius!" Y/N laughed, playfully pushing his arm and taking another sip of her peppermint tea.
"I wish it was that easy. My dad left when I was young. My mom was diagnosed with schizophrenia a little after that. I was a pre-teen in Las Vegas public high school and I didn't go a day without bruises from the older boys. Then I went to Cal Tech and no one took me seriously because I was 10 years younger than everyone else. But, I made it to the FBI and now I'm doing much better." He rambled quickly, wanting to get the retelling of his past over with. Y/N set her tea down slowly, reaching for his upper arm and rubbing it in soothing circles. She looked at him not with pity, but with understanding.
"Spencer, I am so sorry." She slowly said as she moved to hug him. Usually, she would immediately get pushed away by the doctor, but her vanilla scent engulfed him and her touch was warm. He embraced her sweet arms as they wrapped around him and almost shivered at the feeling of her hands on his back. He was frozen in her embrace and Y/N quickly backed away.
"Oh, I forgot you don't like hugs! I'm sorry! I'm a big hugger it was an honest mistake." She apologized profusely as she covered her face with her hands. Spencer slowly grabbed her hands and pulled them from her face, revealing Y/N's blushed cheeks. He laughed slightly and smiled,
"It's ok, it was nice and I didn't mind."
"Oh, I'm so glad. I felt so horrible I would never want to make you uncomfortable! Especially after you welcomed me into your home and made me tea." She mumbled quietly, still embarrassed with a red hue all over her face.
"Really, I enjoyed the hug. It felt nice after all that emotion." Spencer smiled, tucking one of Y/N's stray hair's behind her ear before caressing her face for a short second. Y/N leaned into his hand on her chin before he quickly took it away. What was he doing? This was his coworker and now his sort of friend and he was being weird. He was enjoying hugs and opening up and Reid was a little scared at the thought of being vulnerable again. Y/N watched as their special moment was stolen, Reid going back to his usual armored self again. It was sad to see, but she couldn't do anything about it except sigh as he sealed himself off again. Before anything could be said, Reid's phone lit up with Garcia's name. Both of them sighed at the thought of another case, but he picked up.
"Boy wonder, I have a case for you." Garcia sang into the phone.
"We'll be there as soon as possible." He spoke tiredly, before realizing what he said and turning to Y/N with doe eyes in headlights.
"WE?" Garcia responded excitedly, as she always did at the prospects of Reid communicating with a girl. It didn't matter if it was a friend or a partner.
"Y/N came in for tea after she drove me home. We'll be there soon." He laughed before hanging up, rolling his eyes at Garcia's antics.

' Spencer Reid x Female Reader
Summary: Reid and the new agent on the team do not get along well. Confident and charismatic, Reid despises Y/N for her work habits but can't seem to get enough of her.
Warnings: kidnapping (slight mention in case), alcohol and drinking
Word Count: 1.3k
Saying it was a hard case was putting it lightly. Multiple child kidnappings and murders over the span of multiple days. The team had probably gotten 10 hours of sleep between the seven of them. They got the man in the end, a pervy 60 something man with a beer belly and cruel eyes, but weren't able to save the last child. Despite how tired they all were, Garcia was forcing them out for drinks to let loose and forget how hard the past few days had been. Immediately Derek and Y/N were in, who were fast friends when she joined the team. They bonded over music taste and athletics, both things Reid could not stand. He preferred classics and oldies, but both Derek and Y/N had a thing for old school rap and lifted weights together on Tuesdays and Thursdays before work. In his lethargic state, Reid was somehow roped in and was now riding in Derek's car to the bar with Y/N in the backseat singing along to a Tupac song that Reid didn't know.
"I'm so excited to just dance and forget this case. The child cases are always the hardest." Y/N sighed over the music, Derek nodding his head, "You know, only 37% of our usual cases are child related so it makes sense you find them harder. You are more habituated to adult crimes, explaining why they are harder. If that's a good thing or a bad thing I'm not sure." Reid turned to Derek as he spoke, who had his normal eye roll look and nodded his head. However, Y/N hung onto every word he said, bright eyed at his observation and taking in the information. Reid wasn't used to the attention to his random facts, turning back to face the road with a slight blush in his cheeks. Thankfully, they pulled up to the bar and the rest of the team was waiting in Hotch's car. Immediately Y/N went to the bar and a round of shots for the team came following her. Though Reid stayed sober, one shot wouldn't hurt if he was going to be there for a long time. Especially if he would have to spend time outside of work with Y/N. Already her vanilla perfume was too strong and her laugh was too loud for him to tolerate. The alcohol burned his throat but he stifled a cough in an effort to fit in with his older coworkers. Y/N had no problem and smiled after, from what Spencer gathered he knew that she was somewhat of a party girl. They were the same age, but unlike him Reid she was of normal age in college and had been able to have her fun. He had grown up too fast, taking care of his mother and always trying to fit in with the older crowds who saw him as a neophyte because he didn't have greying hair or years of experience under his belt.
"Let's dance!' Y/N shouted, already three shots deep. Spencer's cheeks burned bright crimson as she unbuttoned her deep purple work shirt to reveal a lacy black bra that was more fitting for the bar they were in. JJ laced a hand in hers and they rushed to the floor before "Hips Don't Lie" ended. Reid couldn't help but follow his eyes with Y/N's frame. Her black dress pants were tight and accentuated her figure, not appropriate for work and Spencer chided her for it. Loose curls framed her face and lights beamed around her like a pink aura. She swayed with JJ to the music and for once, Reid didn't have anything to say. He needed another shot.
Rossi retold a story of the beginning of the BAU, Derek laughing along and nursed a Scotch. Surprisingly, Penelope sat with them too and opted out of dancing in her gigantic heels. Reid loved Penelope's comments towards Derek and happy additions to the stories, she truly brought light to everyone's life. When she was drunk, that was tenfold because she could not contain herself from hugging onto Reid and laughing at every fact he produced. So, Penelope hung onto Reid like her life depended on it as Hotch finally let loose and passed around pictures of Jack at soccer.
"Who else is joining me on the dance floor? JJ is tapping out!" Y/N smiled, her sweat shimmering along her chest and making her glow. JJ shrugged her shoulders, making a comment on being a mom and not having the hips she used to.
"Reid wants to! He told me." Penelope cheered as a joke, pushing him forward lightly. Reid however shook his head feverishly and explained how he could not dance, but Y/N was already pulling him to the dance floor. Reid could not hear himself think over the blasting music and cringed at the sweaty bodies around him as Y/N pulled him in to sway with her. He stood still as a statue, his cold demeanor fading as she turned and grinded against his body. He didn't like the way his nerves felt like they were exploding when she touched him, or how he didn't mind watching her care free smile as she drunkingly moved around the dance floor like she owned it. To Reid, she did, because at that moment it was just him and Y/N in the world as the purple and pink lights flashed above them. Despite how stupid he felt, he danced along with her and moved his arms to the music like she did which earned a million dollar smile. He retreated when the song was over, Y/N following closely behind him.
"Pretty boy! Who knew you got moves?" Derek joked, slapping Reid on the shoulder as they returned for water.
"I know! He was grooving out there!" Y/N smiled along with Derek's comment. The team rested into comfortable conversation about what they were going to do with their weekend and just their lives, which was always the best part of nights out. Eventually, Hotch and JJ went home to be with their kids and the rest of the team decided to head out too. Reid dropped Derek off at his house since it was on the way to Y/N's, and it left them together in the car. Despite their previous bonding, which Reid vowed would never happen again, he knew he had a plan. With too much alcohol in her system, he hoped that she would open up about the redacted information on her file.
"So, what did you do before the BAU?"
"I actually worked for the laboratory! Isn't that a crazy jump." She smiled, eyes half-closed and dreamy from the tequila and fun night.
"Yeah, how did you do it?" "Um, just hard work! You aren't the only smart cookie out there!"
"That's a big jump, you had to have done something to make you stand out." "Reid, seriously just hard work. Leave it alone." She responded, sobered up by his interrogation. Her knees turned away from him in the car, signifying that any chance he had for a confession was over.
"Thank you for the ride. Dancing was fun." She sighed before leaving. Reid was alone with his thoughts again, trying to remember her body language and what she said. All he could think about was her smile on the dance floor and the shimmer in her eyes as she sang off pitch to every song that played. Reid shook his head as he dropped Derek's car off and headed to the metro to get home. He knew Y/N was hiding something, that was very clear. Reid just wished he could focus instead of smelling the waft of vanilla that had rubbed onto his clothes in the club. Sweet and sickly, just like a new agent he was starting to get close to.

Warnings: small mention of drug addiction
Word Count: 1k
Now Reid sat at his desk in the bullpen. Derek studied a case file in front of him and his forehead creased in concentration as his eyes ran across pages and pages of paperwork. It was a comfortable silence, with the hum of the coffee machine and light whispers in the background making white noise as he worked. When Reid had checked multiple times and made sure no one was looking, he pulled open Y/N's file that he had 'borrowed' from JJ's office after she left for the day. The manilla envelope was surprisingly thick with white papers, folded corners sticking out of edges. It felt invasive to look even though all of the information was public. Reid took a deep breath to bite the bullet and opened the file slowly. Y/N's basic information was pretty ordinary. Both her parents were still married and lived in Georgia together where she had grown up an only child. She had never moved, so either she hid her accent well or it had faded after years away. Reid had profiled her as an east coaster, the way she walked like she was in a rush, so he was already met with surprises. Masters in Psychology, like she said, from George Washington University and then Georgetown. In the file was even a copy of her transcript. His eyes were met with long lines of A's, even in hard classes like chemistry and advanced calculus. He noticed a gap year in her file between sophomore and junior year of undergraduate. He would look that up later and he scribbled and year down on his notepad, like he needed a reminder with an eidetic memory.
She had excelled in the academy, scoring exceptionally high in the fit exam but low in the firearms test, lower than Reid who had been too scared to pick up a gun. She had an IQ of 118, just above average. After the academy, she worked at Quantico at the Laboratory Division. He had been there a few times to check on samples they were getting examined like fingerprints or DNA, but every person looked the same in white coats and big goggles. He caught himself smiling as he though of Y/N with indents on her forehead from the tight frames.
Between the Laboratory Division and the BAU, it was all redacted. Thick lines of black stared back at him across pages and pages. What was she hiding under there? There was no way she went from a lab to undercover or on a case, she had basic training but the people running tests on fingerprints don't often get involved in cases. Reid wondered how she had made it to the BAU from there? He got up so fast he spilled the coffee mug on his desk, black liquid cascading over the face of Spock. Derek stifled a laugh from his desk but Y/N's eyes stayed glued to her paperwork. Ever since their altercation in the car she had avoided him completely. What he said was mean he admitted, but sometimes people need to be humbled. Maybe it would make her realize she should go back to the Laboratory Division.
"Derek pay up," Y/N smiled from her desk as she looked up at a flustered Reid. Derek groaned as he took out his wallet and Reid's eyes flashed back and forth between them.
"I bet Derek you would spill coffee twice during paper work day, he said it would only be once." She explained as she recounted how he had splashed some on his sweater vest during his first cup at Quantico, and his third cup of that morning. To Spencer's dismay, now he was the reason she was getting along with the team. Placing bets like Emily and Derek, smiling and getting through a day of white parchment. His efforts seemed in vain as he grabbed the file and walked to Garcia with a huff. After a day of rumination I guess Y/N was back on her feet.
"Why do you ask, pretty boy?" Garcia smirked as she spun in her chair. Reid avoided eye contact and stared at the plethora of trinkets on her desk. Little bobble heads and plush kittens sat next to a gruesome image of a corpse on her screen.
"I'm just curious, no one on the team really knows anything about her."
"How am I supposed to look at her the same seeing all the redacted information in her file?"
"Just please, Garcia, I really need to know." He begged, and how could Garcia say no to such big golden eyes? She grumbled and took the file before she got to work, telling Reid how it would be a while and she was going to get in trouble but he didn't really care. Y/N was like a puzzle he wanted to figure out. She was an enigma in his life, and he hated how she knew all about him. Through time on the team she had learned about his mom when Hotch had checked in, or his bouts with the forbidden needle when JJ asked if a case triggered him. But now he only knew she lived in Georgia. When asked about her life and family she quickly changed the conversation, her work before this was simply "the laboratory unit." Derek had mentioned how curious it was how swiftly Y/N had been moved up units, and Spencer agreed. He knew it wasn't just hesitations based on a new member of their tight family, something didn't add up.
He returned to his desk while Derek and JJ were laughing over a shared coffee pot. A crisp five dollar bill sat on his desk with a heart post it note.
Didn't mean to joke at your expense. Here are my earnings :)
The small note sat in this hand, and when he went to look at Y/N's desk her things for the day were packed up. I guess her weekend had started, and Reid took it as a cue to start his as well.

On Monday morning, Garcia beckoned Reid into her office. He noticed a new sparkly squid sat next to her monitor as she spoke.
"I couldn't find anything. I promised I searched high and low. Whatever is covered, it's covered well and it's top secret. I can't imagine what she did, but the government doesn't want us to know about it." Garcia sighed. This wasn't the answer Reid wanted, and now he stood holding his satchel bag tightly. He replayed every conversation in hope of finding an answer, but Y/N was truly a cavern of unknown secrets. Whether it brought them closer, or tore them apart into a thousand glass shards, Reid was going to find out all of her secrets. The good and the bad.
