برترین‌ها: طوطی‌ها از جمله رنگی‌ترین و زیباترین پرندگان روی زمین به شمار می‌روند. یکی از ویژگی‌های شناخته شده آن‌ها در میان انسان ها، توانایی صحبت کردن آن‌ها است. انواع گوناگونی از این پرنده‌های باهوش وجود دارد که این موضوع بدین معنی است که چیز‌های زیادی برای یادگیری درباره آن‌ها وجود دارد. در ادامه با برترین‌ها همراه باشید تا شما را با حقایقی جالب از این پرندگان آشنا کنیم.

یک گروه متال موسیقی متال به نام Hatebeak وجود دارد که تنها خواننده این گروه یک طوطی خاکستری به نام "والدو" است.

یکی از مرموز‌ترین و گریزان‌ترین پرندگان در دنیا "طوطی شب استرالیایی" است که در طول یک قرن تنها سه بار مشاهده شده اند.

اکثر گونه‌های طوطی جز پرندگان باهوش شناخته می‌شوند. یک گونه خاص از طوطی‌ها به نام طوطی کاکل سفید وجود دارد که می‌تواند پازل‌های پیچیده مکانیکی را حل کند.

حدود ۴۰۰ گونه متفاوت از طوطی‌ها در سرتاسر جهان وجود دارد.

از این تعداد تنها یک گونه از آن‌ها نمی‌تواند پرواز کند که طوطی کاکاپو نامیده می‌شود.

طوطی کاکاپو همچنین بزرگترین طوطی جهان است. این پرنده همچنین از جمله پرندگانی است که دارای بیشترین طول عمر با میانگین ۹۵ سال است. متاسفانه این گونه از طوطی‌ها به شدت در معرض خطر انقراض اند و تا سال ۲۰۱۸ تنها ۱۴۹ عدد از آن‌ها وجود داشت.

در سینت پال مینه سوتا مرکزی وجود دارد که به طوطی‌های سرگردان نقاشی یاد می‌دهند و از فروختن آثار آن‌ها هزینه‌های نگه داری و درمان آن‌ها تامین می‌شود.

در هند نگه داری طوطی‌ها به عنوان حیوان خانگی غیر قانونی است.

برخلاف باور عموم، طوطی‌ها با تار‌های صوتی صحبت نمی‌کنند، چونکه آن‌ها اصلا تار صوتی ندارند! بلکه آن‌ها با کنترل ماهیچه‌های موجود در گلوی خود و کنترل جریان هوا به شیوه‌ای خاص می‌توانند صدا‌های مختلف را تقلید نمایند.

بیشتر طوطی‌ها در مناطق استوایی و نیمه استوایی مثل استرالیا، آسیا، قسمت‌های مرکزی و جنوب آمریکا و آفریقا زندگی می‌کنند.

تنها یک طوطی کوهستانی در جهان وجود دارد. "طوطی کیا" و از آنجا که دارای پر‌های ضخیم و بدنی گرد است می‌تواند حرارت بدن خود را حفظ کند، که به این دلیل است که در مناطق سرد به ویژه کوهستان‌های می‌تواند زندگی کند.

به سختی می‌توان طول عمر میانگینی را برای طوطی‌ها متصور شد. چونکه گونه‌های بسیار متنوعی از آن‌ها در سراسر جهان وجود دارد. به طور مثل طوطی‌های سبز کوچک ۷ تا ۱۸ سال زندگی می‌کنند در حالی که طوطی خاکستری آفریقایی می‌توانند تا ۶۰ سال زنده بمانند.

در میان طوطی ها، بزرگترین طول بال متعلق به طوطی مکائو (طوطی دم بلند آمریکای جنوبی) با طول بال‌های ۱.۵ متری است که عرض آن‌ها را در هنگام پرواز از طول ۱.۲ متری بدن آن‌ها بیشتر می‌کند.

نتایج به دست آمده از یک آزمایش نشان داد که طوطی‌ها دارای منطق یک کودک ۴ ساله اند. آن‌ها می‌تواند از ابزار مختلف برای حل مشکلات استفاده کنند!

طوطی‌ها تنها پرندگان روی زمین اند که می‌توانند با پا‌های خود غذا بخورند.

طوطی‌ها دارای منقار‌های بسیار نیرومندی اند. برای مثال طوطی مکائو قادر به شکستن یک نارگیل با منقار خود است.

عجیب اینکه حسگر‌های مزه در طوطی‌ها در سقف دهان آن‌ها قرار گرفته است.

رژیم غذایی طوطی‌ها بسیار گسترده است و آن‌ها می‌تواند میوه، دانه، آجیل، حشرات و حتی گوشت هم بخورند.

متاسفانه یک سوم از طوطی‌های جهان به خاطر نابودی زیستگاه‌های آن‌ها و شکار بی رویه در خطر انقراض قرار دارند.

کشف شده است که رنگدانه‌های موجود در پر‌های طوطی‌ها خاصیت ضد باکتریایی دارند و از مریض شدن آن‌ها جلوگیری می‌کنند.

رکورد جهانی گینس برای "دانستن بیشترین تعداد کلمه توسط یک حیوان" متعلق به یک طوطی به نام "پاک" است که می‌توانست ۱۷۰۰ کلمه را صحبت کند!

بسته به نوع طوطی، اندازه آن‌ها بین ۷ تا ۱۲۰ سانتیمتر متغییر است. کوچکترین گونه طوطی ها، طوطی کوتوله buff-faced است که تنها ۷ سانتیمتر طول دارد.

طوطی ها، پرنده‌هایی به شدت اجتماعی اند که در گروه‌های ۲۰ تا ۳۰ نفره زندگی می‌کنند.

مارها، پرندگان شکارچی، میمون‌ها و انسان‌ها مهم‌ترین شکارچیان طوطی‌ها هستند.
