A nook in the Seattle home of collectors Richard E Lang and Jane Lang Davis. The painting is Francis Bacon’s modestly sized masterpiece ‘Study for a Head’, which sold at Sotheby’s New York in May for a cool $50,000,000 and some change. This work is from a group of six small paintings of heads that Bacon created in a studio at the Royal College of Arts during the summer of 1952.
