Wonderful question! I have a running list of predictions on Discord that I started September 21st after I read Nona and am planning on updating continuously until Alecto comes out. I actually have split it into plot/character predictions and meme reference/allusion references! It's a little long, so I'll put them all below the cut :)

Alecto the Ninth prediction list (started 9/21/22, ongoing): -Chussy fisting scene PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE -The gang goes through the stoma -The wedding that's supposed to happen is between Kiriona and Ianthe because god forbid a single good thing happens to Griddlehark girlies -There IS a God and it's not Jod and Harrow finds them -The wedding is actually between a straight couple just for laughs -The kaitiaki meta is correct (I will CRY if so) -Pyrrha sacrifices herself for Paul or Harrow or Gideon with some allusion to domestic life -Alecto kills herself to take John out -Corona kills Ianthe and then she kills herself -Ianthe consumes Corona and double-Lyctors herself to become the big bad -Griddlehark both die -Griddlehark amnesia endgame -No good Griddlehark ending is what I'm trying to say because FUCK this woman

Three ships: Griddlehark is obviously my number 1 <3 <3 I will love them forever and think about them constantly. As far as other ships occupying my brain lately goes, alas I am not immune to the gay pirates so Ed Teach/Stede Bonnet (I still dunno if their ship name is Blackbonnet or Gentlebeard lol) and then also Fearne/Ashton from Critical Role!

Last film: The 1977 Rankin/Bass animated Hobbit lmao. Started a LOTR watch party with some friends and we got sidetracked.

Currently watching: Nothing particular atm...I am in the midst of art finals so I don't have a lot of time to chill. But over thanksgiving I binged all of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off and Scavengers Reign! Scavengers Reign was phenomenal, I was so blown away by it. My dad recently watched the live action One Piece and keeps trying to get me to watch it so he can talk to me about it, so I'll probably watch that next, when finals are over.

Currently reading: Slowly working through the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. (Also per request of a family member haha, my sister has been really exctied about it. I think I'm just Token Nerd of the family so anytime they enjoy something they like to share it with me, which I am all for :)). I also just finished Dungeon Meshi volume 1.

Currently consuming: Dates and water (study snacks!)

No, I haven't even finished harrow the ninth! I might try again one day but at the time I was reading it, the disorienting style of writing was poison to my adhd brain. But I still care about the characters so I kinda keep up.

@thefebruaryfriday is the one who finished it already and sent me FORTY MINUTES (40!!) of voice messages about it.

which characters in ntn did you find grating?

Massively unpopular opinion, but mostly the Sixth House. Pyrrha to a lesser extent, and Pash.

Basically, all characters who I like in theory BUT came out significantly flattened through Nona's POV, because she was so wholly uncritical and loving. Which is nice! But it gets annoying after a while, because Nona's POV had a way of conflating "love" with "goodness" — it unravels by the end, when Nona gets in the Tomb and remembers Alecto and the "for she so loved the world that she gave them John" of it all — but before we get there, it's a lot of pages of "these people I like can do no wrong" and it got a bit grating to me when I'm mostly interested in them doing wrongs.

To be 100% honest, this is partly a retroactive reaction to the development of the fandom after Nona, because a lot of the analysis of the series and characters I saw seemed to take Nona's POV wholly uncritically and forget that she literally has no idea what's going on. There are enough hints of moral ambiguity even through her POV to keep me interested BUT maybe I'm less keen on that part of canon now, because I'm less able to appreciate it as a glimpse of cute in a sea of bleak after seeing it way too often being held up as a gold standard of What Ethical People / Good Relationships Should Be.

(As for Pash, I love that she's a loser but she's a bit one-note so I wish she had less space. I think she's going to give us much needed info about Wake in AtN though, so I get why she's there)
