The Modified Dolls' Charity of the Month is Operation Tattooing Freedom - Inking A Better Future For Veterans! "Tattoos are an ancient art form used throughout history to denote status, express one’s self, memorialize people and events, and tell stories… They can help to start conversations, remind us of someone or something special, tell the world who we are, or even motivate us through the rough patches we all inevitably face. At OTF we don’t believe that tattoos are a cure, nor do we think that slapping some ink on your skin will fix anything. What we do believe is that the right tattoo coupled with a willingness to share experiences can help create new emotional connections in the brain. By talking through our issues while getting a tattoo that helps to symbolize that pain (be it emotional or physical) we are taking control of the situation. The issues don’t disappear but perception of them can be changed. The goal of OTF is to work with Veterans who are suffering from PTSD, Depression, Chronic Pain, and Anxiety and help set them up with an amazing artist that will not only help them design a tattoo that is right for them but will also be happy to lend an ear as he or she discusses the issues they face and what this specific tattoo means to them. The goal isn’t to rewrite the past but begin to writing a new future, a better future."
