Now all he had left for her was laughter. "And you?" mocks Kai, his words dripping with venom, icy disdain all he could muster. A cruel, brittle laugh clawed its way from his throat. There was no amusement in it, only the bitter mockery of a hope once lost. "You think you'd make a good leader? God, Liv. You can't even cope with the idea that you could win the merge by seeing Luke drop like a fly in front of you. At least I am somewhat about tradition."

While that was a lie, he liked forging his own truth into somewhat of a web that eventually fit into his own narrative. Now all he wanted to see was how she died. Either her or Lucas. It made no difference. He stretches out his hand, bringing the cupboard to their left to shatter onto the ground with a groan. "It's funny, you know?" he says with a cruel laugh. As he approaches, he kicks one of the books out of his way with his feet, reducing the gap between them. His hand clenched into a fist and his eyes narrowed, focusing on her instead. He imagined the jolt, the momentary struggle, and then... nothing. Nothing but how he lay there. "How your first reason for me not to lead the coven is because I am total egomaniac. Not because I'm an abomination, or anything. Like, seriously, it jazzes up the convo, for sure!"

Over the years, he heard a few variations of the word, but Kai had more or less grown rather accustomed to that one. Given that his own name had been used to refer to him infrequently when he was younger, he occasionally questioned whether it was his good fortune that he did not dislike it. Those words in her mouth were never knives aimed at his throat, nor were they little needles that pricked him with every step he took. It was no insult but more of a fact.

Now all it did was send the air into a sudden crackle, fprcing an unsettling shift. Kai's usual easy demeanor had taken on something predatory, his steps fluid and almost irritably casual as he closed the distance. In the sudden silence, every step seemed to reverberate, bringing him closer until he was only a breath away. Then, with a final, deliberate movement, he placed his hands on either side of her head, her back pressing against the cold, hard wall. His grin, previously charming, now stretched into a wide, unsettling mask, with just a hint of cruel amusement glinting in his eye, intending to suffocate her with only his presence. "Is your brain still the size of an acorn, Livvy?" he asks, tilting his head to the side, almost daring the grin to spread over his face. "You came up with better insults when you were four which is really pathetic if you ask me."
