1) What made you ship it?

The rewiring of my brain that was Jack's letter to Arthur praising Van Helsing like a total fanboy only for Van Helsing to write back about the gangrene sucking incident. Like, I was Not Prepared at All.

2) what are your favorite things about the ship?

I love how they have such hit and miss communication...they can't understand each other and when they do they are committed to the worse decision making together. They're so dysfunctional?? But there's no doubt that they love each other??? I love couples who are stubbornly together despite the inconvenience.

3) Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I think the only time I took offense is when ppl joked that VH snores loudly...like ok both Mina and Lucy find him endearing when he sleeps but somehow Jack would find it annoying. Sure. But that's not really an unpopular opinion so....

A really unpopular headcanon I have is that they totally fucked on Oct 1st. Which is why Jack wakes up late, and they both seem so relaxed around each other?? Considering how tense they were dealing with Vampire!Lucy. (jk....unless?)

Jonmina - Ship It

1) What made you ship it?

It's how Jonathan keeps referring to Mina in his shorthand diary, which is so cute and ordinary. She is such an essential part of his life that he must talk about her. I already believed in their relationship before I even met her! (Pre-DD)

2) what are your favorite things about the ship?

I love how well they work together!! How their love language isn't speaking sweet words to each other but actually encouraging and helping each other. And of course, I love how they believe in each other even if they doubt themselves.

3) Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

Not sure if I have a really unpopular opinion of them but sometimes I would like them to fight more. Like maybe its something as small as putting marmite on toast but something they are both passionate about. They're very good at communicating so it would be hard to imagine I suppose. Maybe they fight about whether to tell Quincey Jr about vampires or not!

Anyway. They should go on a double date together <3

It’s beyond ridiculous. These people are trying to act “woke” but in the end they just sound like cowardly homophobes themselves with all the backpedalling they do.

And they’re all like ‘I ship it too but you need to learn to separate canon from fanon..!!” like okay calm down they’re gay and engaged and they kiss and talk about showing love while tie pulling what kind of weird blinders are you wearing. I am reluctant to say anything specific because I have NO details, but I heard there may have been translation drama with them in a previous fandom (I did hear the fandom, but again as I have no details, I’m not... saying it).

Favorite book: It’s been a while I can’t really remember. I don’t have a favorite per se but the latest one was The Second Sex by Simone De Beauvoir. A really enjoyable read that still demands the reader to acknowledge Feminism 101 before analyzing.

Worst thing I have ever eaten: between the poisoned sausage that made me sick for a week or the fried eggs that gave me an eating disorder for months, I think I’ll pick the latter.

Favourite place: somewhere nice and cozy where I can breathe and feel the wind caressing my face. Any place whose atmosphere is radically different from the city will do. Except places crawled out with bugs.

10 Things You Didn’t Know About Me

1. I started this blog in April. Around January I was lurking around, then swooped back into a fandom I left since 2014. After several months of lurking, I said fuck it and made a sideblog for that.

2. Speaking of that sideblog, I think I intended to reblog pretty fanarts of my OTP (hi reibert) before going into more general posting. It went slowly into an archive blog of meta posts before I started to write some myself. That was my very first contribution.

3. I only own the first three volumes in French, Answers and Vol. 20 in Japanese. Sorry I haven’t taken the time to go shopping lately. Really reluctant in buying Vol. 21 Special Edition, though.

4. My first ship when I started SnK was Jeankasa. I quickly updated my shipping list since then.

5. Since I created this blog, I made 377 original posts. First time in my life I’ve ever written so much OPs before.

6. My favourite arc is Utgard Castle- what do you mean it’s a known fact?

7. I keep rambling about this fandom I’m neglecting the other ones. Been into One Piece before but you know how each arc at the beginning makes me feel: yawning from the whole setup pattern.

8. I was a proud orphan till mom took me into the metafam. Ever since then, people called me perfectyummycurry. You may not think it’s much of an unusual name, but all I had to do was take it, and then I was given a fine bed and fed meals. 

9. Nick should rather find a dog. It’s more affordable. Or print pics of Jean and stick them to his walls. Even more affordable.

1) Why don't you ship it?

I just find their dynamic with other people much more interesting. Like, idk, triptych shipping! I also feel like they're both too subby for each other, yes even though Jonathan has his gremlin arc, he's so single minded about protecting Mina, its like, hm. Its not satisfying for me.

2) What would have made you like it?

I have no idea actually. Maybe if their relationship was developed more in canon? Sometimes I wonder if Jack had accompanied VH to meet the Harkers before they had to stake vampire!Lucy, and if that would have impacted their relationship...

3) Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?

Well. As I said, I really do believe in the polycule, and so everyone is dating everyone of course! And like, if there was a double date between jon/mina and hel/ward that evolved into a foursome, or something...

1) What made you ship it?

I really love how Arthur and Jonathan bonded during the time they worked on the steamboat together! It was so cute and wholesome!

2) What are your favorite things about the ship?

I love how Jonathan doesn't feel guilty about Arthur using his money to get shit done. In a way, Arthur feels useful being able to help him and Mina out, and the Harkers get pampered for once. I just love how Arthur's the sugar daddy of the group. LOL . And he has dogs!! win/win!

3) Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I joked that Arthur got brother zoned by Mina but I regret it now. Arthur deserves to have an affair with both Harkers.

Holm/ward -- I Ship it

1) What made you ship it?

Ok I should probably emphasis here that I do believe in the polycule, I love the idea that everyone is dating everyone to a degree! So jot that down.

But I only started enjoying this ship more because of the DD memes! In general I always thought Arthut was a bit of a blank state compared to everyone else. But he's actually really sweet and sentimental, he's very emotional, and very loyal. And Jack is friends with him besides that.

2) What are your favorite things about the ship?

I love childhood friends to lovers. A very classic ship honestly! I love how they've travelled all over the world together despite being from different parts of life. I also think its interesting that despite Arthur being a rich kid who can pay for anything, Jack seems to be more of a thrill seeker and Arthur is more of the caretaker type.

3) Is there an unpopular opinion you have about the ship?

Weeelll....As you can probably imagine, I ship other things with way more intensity than holm/ward so like, its hard for me to fully engage with it? Like I enjoy the memes that say they're married now, and who am I to refute Stoker's own words, but its hard to really imagine them #married. Like as lovers, close friends, polyamorous husbands of Lucy, etc, yes of course! But I'm not super invested in it.

The thing is sometimes you ship characters who are relevant to the plot and have nice beefy Themes and Motifs attached to them. But sometimes you ship Those Two and its not like they are minor characters or anything but its really hard to squee about them holding hands or vowing to be loyal to each other when there is a giant disaster caused by the villain going on in the foreground. The hero is in a critical stage where they may die and fandom is screaming crying throwing up accordingly and its not like you arent absolutely devestated by it all but you're also just happy blorbo and glup shitto held hands in the background for a millisecond and yeah RIP but--

OH yesss I love Neuyako! (this is for a non-drac ship so I can still answer it)

1) What made you ship it?

I think there was something about how Neuro kept teasing Yako, but geniunely caring about her that did it. And their comedy routine was excellent.

2) What are your favorite things about the ship?

I loved how their age gap was sort of irrelevant to their dynamic. Yako could be 30 and Neuro could be a teenager and it wouldn't change the fact that he's the smartest demon from hell and she's just a normal woman. They are so different from one another. But they still love each other's company. They both love food even though their sources are very different from one another, but they both understand food doesn't just come from nothing, there is a chain of events it must follow. They're a screwball comedy duo but they can be surprisingly similar.

Also such amazing fanart. Wow. I loved finding all these neuyako websites before pixiv was a thing.

3) Is there an unpopular opinion you have about the ship?

Hmmm IDK I love most headcanons about them??? I love the crack theory that they are Karma's parents from Assassination Classroom. Its hilarious.

Bramina -- I Ship it!

1) What made you ship it?

Since I first read Dracula I LOVED their relationship. The way they challenge each other is just so electrifying?? But also, I just thought about how their relationship is sort of the key to defeating Dracula. Not that they are the ones to drive a stake through his heart, but they are the antithesis of ignorance and complacency. Its an unusual friendship!

2) What are your favorite things about the ship?

Honestly I love to be able to ship it within the context of polyamory and it not being this typical age gap romance. Like, Mina is very much Van Helsing's true protege, but he's not molding her to be anything. He does project onto her but he also gets punished for it. She in fact surprises him! I love that she pranked him when they first met, and he took it really well.

3) Is there an unpopular opinion you have about the ship?

Honestly, as much as I love the idea of a Dracula adaption that fully embraces the polyamory of the group, I don't trust a mainstream tv show with canonizing this ship. I enjoy it more because its just like two, three of us on tumblr fangirling/fanboying over it. I don't think I could handle it if some sequel or spinoff villainized Jonathan yet again. So yeah, I want this to stay purely fanon!

Breaking the meme format for these two...I feel like for both Dracula ships, I ship them aesthetically rather than anything else. Like, I enjoy seeing fanart and shitposts and memes about them but like, I wouldn't read fanfic about them.

Drac/Jonathan - I Sorta Ship it

1) What made you ship it?

I really enjoy the first chapters of the book when Jonathan is held prisoner! Its really clever how Dracula slowly gaslights him into staying. Their relationship at this stage is really funny and ironic.

2) What would make you ship it more?

I think if Dracula and Jonathan had more of actual rivalry somehow, it could make the ship more interesting. But as it is I'm so invested in the Drac Attack Team I barely think about Dracula!

3) Is there an unpopular opinion you have about the ship?

Not really, I don't actively seek out content.

Van/cula -- I Sorta Ship It

1) What made you ship it?

Aesthetically it's such a good ship! Two old men with an intense rivalry and long history together?? It's so spicy! I also love how Van Helsing has notably red hair, which absolutely complements Dracula's black and white features!

2) What would make you ship it more?

Honestly, like I said previously, I'm so attached to the Drac Attack Team, the idea of more Dracula and VH interaction just doesn't seem very exciting. I enjoy glimpses here and there of their would be relationship, and I like the idea of them being exes from another lifetime. I also think it would be interesting if maybe Dracula knew Van Helsing's ancestors, like the Van Helsing movie hinted at!

3) Is there an unpopular opinion you have about the ship?

Not really.

The evil!Van Helsing is Augustus Champell, he and Atherton have known each other for years, only for Atherton to call for the expertise of the special (author's favourite, as he has his own book series) prodigy detective and crime hunter later in the novel. Except this expert upon seeing a man panic will call him a shameful weakling and a disappointing woman to his face to "summon back his manfulness". (compare to how Van Helsing handles Jonathan's breakdown)

I thought you were pulling my leg because I try to forget as much about this book as I can, but WTF is this:

‘I happen to know that, at certain seasons, Atherton is a queer fish,—but that sounds very queer indeed.’

SERIOUSLY??? Champell knows Atherton quite well apparently.

Too bad though. In addition to everything you said about him, he's just...so bland? No magnificent eyebrows, no funny mannerisms, no corn monologues, just a vague arrogance. 🥱 Weak sauce.
