What makes a soundtrack reliable is its sense of responsibility; it is tethered, an accent, held accountable. It endeavors to be cumulative rather than singular. It considers how its parts serve a whole. Because of the specificity of its evocation, its crucial narrative, the soundtrack form achieves an authenticity that is deeply lacking in the musical products of the many. I doubt not the earnest drive that impelled this soundtrack, in particular, into being. Here, though, we have the meditative, which endeavors to be unobtrusive atmosphere. It is gentle, exploring, and "pretty". Pretty is easy on the senses. Pretty is common. It can be revelatory, but it lacks the power to seduce. Truly, it accompanies. Beauty, on the other hand, is primal and hits hard. It deems environment; it leads. Beauty determines. Thus, this soundtrack is a follower - it merely reacts. In that, I cannot find it useful.
