Inktober day 19: Sling. (I'm trying to catch up, I promise!) Today is more of a tribute to two books that followed my childhood: "Tom Sawyer" and "Huckleberry Finn", by Mark Twain, the first two kids that came into my head when I saw this prompt, here drawn as lemurs. . #inktober #inktober2019 #theadventuresoftomsawyer #theadventuresofhuckleberryfinn #marktwain #drawing #digitalpainting https://www.instagram.com/p/B35Ofs3FokO/?igshid=bb6m1rd9m5ec

I haven't read at all since my aunt came from Chicago to visit. It's been week or so now, and there are so many books I want to read too. 😞 I have a bunch of classics but there's one I need in my life. Frankenstein. 😄 Since I already read Dracula I'm not that scared of all the other popular/well known classics. 😊 . . . . . . #bookstagram #bookblogger #booksofinstagram #bookish #booklove #bookstagrammer #bookworm #amreading #bookphotography #booknerd #bookaddict #igreads #igbooks #reader #bibliophile #instabook  #bookflatlay #heidi #theadventuresoftomsawyer #puffinclassics https://www.instagram.com/p/BtPfkmnHs6F/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1ahr2cn8th2ux

I am so in love with this #MarkTwain candle from the @paddywaxcandles #library collection. It smells like tobacco flower and vanilla. The scent is almost as good as the Twain quote: “Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow” [[[swipe to see up close]]]. . Q: What is one of your favorite book inspired candles?! #paddywax #librarycandle #exlibris #bookcandle #bookmerch #classicauthors #theadventuresoftomsawyer #signetclassics #bookishcandles

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer Book Review
“Well, everybody does it that way, Huck." "Tom, I am not everybody.” ― Mark Twain, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
Tumblr media
But how I laughed!
This is the story of a boy named Tom Sawyer, he is an orphan, doesn’t like school very much and prefers to skip it. He lives in St Petersburg, Missouri, on the banks of the Mississippi River with his old Aunt Polly, who, despite the constant nagging (and for good reason) because of his nephew's constant mischief and foolishness, loves him like her son, his half-brother who annoys him a bit, Sid Sawyer, and his big cousin Mary. He has a friend with whom he loves to spend time: it's Huckleberry Finn who lives in the forest all by himself. Huck does what he wants: he can fish, wash, dress up as and when he wants. Tom admires him a lot. Moms don’t want their kids to go with Huck but Tom doesn’t care, he does.
One day, a young girl arrives in his town: she is the judge's daughter, Becky Thatcher. Tom falls in love immediately.
Tumblr media
But what will change Tom's life is what he sees one night with Huck in the cemetery where they went to bury a dead cat. They are witnesses of the terrible murder of Dr. Robinson by Joe the Indian. From this murder, they will live a life full of adventures. Joe the Indian accuses Muff Potter, a drunkard, of this crime during the trial. But Tom Sawyer, listening only to his courage, is going to say that Joe the Indian is the culprit. Joe escapes and promises Tom that he will take revenge!
From that moment, Tom is dragged into a series of adventures in search of a cave where the fabulous treasure of Joe the Indian is…
***ALERT SPOILER***
Where the author really surprised me is the seriousness of certain episodes (because the book is constructed in such a way that although there is an overall coherence, each chapter is more or less dedicated to a single "adventure"). For example, it is indeed a murder perpetrated by the terrifying half-breed Joe the Indian that Tom and Huckleberry are present at! Three long days that Tom and Becky will remain prisoners of a cave in which they will be in real danger of starving! It is the Mississippi river that Tom claims to cross to swim in all directions! It is indeed an innocent man who is preparing to be condemned to be hanged by the court of Saint-Petersburg! And so on...
The adventures of Tom Sawyer is an incredible book! I recommend this book to those who are ready to devour incredible adventures!

Word: Adventure (2/14) My two favorite adventurers! Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn have many an adventure between the two of them. I've been in love with Mark Twain since I did a video project on these two books in eighth grade. My mom dressed up as Twain, it was amazing. #justonewordbookphotochallenge #adventure #theadventuresoftomsawyer #theadventuresofhuckleberryfinn #huckfinn #tomsawyer #marktwain #mymomissocool #butforreal

Another offering at the altar of #oldtimers & #classics. While I may have collected these #marktwain books, I am not sure if I am going to read them yet and when, if I do. When it comes to the classics, which ones do you dither about? Back when I used to be a mod for a group over at Goodreads, I created a thread about Books that Intimidate. Readers are more likely to make an effort at reading an intimidating book, if they have someone to share in the agony lol If anyone is interested in a #buddyread of these books, count me in! #midureads #shelfie #bookshelfie #paperbackprettiness #theadventuresoftomsawyer #theprinceandthepauper (at Karachi, Pakistan)

Mark Twain - The Adventures of Tom Sawyer Endirimlər mağazaya gəlib alarkən keçərlidir. Huck Finn is drawn from life; Tom Sawyer also, but not from an individual—he is a combination of the characteristics of three boys whom I knew, and therefore belongs to the composite order of architecture. https://novella.az/kitab/the-adventures-of-tom-sawyer Əlaqə vasitələri 📲070-200-71-33 (zəng və whatsapp) ☎ (012)-465-07-81 Ünvan: Gənclik metrosu, "Caspian shopping"in yanı, 80 saylı bağça ilə üz-üzə. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain
If there's one change this book has done to me, it would probably be the way I look at book covers. Actually, I am not into covers very much. It may be a consideration but not a priority. However, I particularly own this book which cover shows an illustration of two boys painting fences white. All along, I thought that Tom Sawyer was the boy painting the fences for it was his face shown to the readers, while the other boy standing (his back on the readers) was simply a friend... just to find out the it was the other way around. As I read and come across Tom's playful ideas and bold adventures, I realized that that particular illustration is a brilliant choice of cover. Among all his mischiefs, that simple trick tells so much about Tom's unbelievable wit and innocent maturity. Now, every time I finish reading a certain book, I'll make sure that I will be able to tell the story behind its cover. I remember my university days and how enthusiastic my classmates were upon reporting about this book and Huck Finn. Now, I understand them more than ever. These characters are gems! They were little explorers who made their lives their own adventure. Especially Tom, they know what they wanted and they were brave enough to materialize them (no matter how out of this world they seemed). Some may find Tom problematic - as he made simple stuff a little more complicated than they were supposed to be. He was proud, careless, and selfish. And he might be way too smart beyond his age but I think he was simply being a kid. He was imaginative! He was highly spirited! And he was bold to try his most childish ideas (and to get his friends join the escapades). He yearned for excitement and wasn't thinking of the life's consequences. Perhaps, the absence of his parents might had been a factor to his being carefree enjoying the freedom of mixing up his fantasies with the real world. And it seemed like fate liked this boy so much that it affirmed his crazy ambitions and beliefs. This boy had a life to live (that he himself directed) and friends to share them with. He believed, he acted, and he made his crazy ambitions come true.

Word: Anticipated (1/22) Highly anticipated for 100 years after the death of Samuel Longhorn Clemens, The Autobiography of Mark Twain is as unique as the author. Told in non-sequential order (he thought it would be more entertaining) and finally published in 2010, Twain gambled he would still be relevant enough to warrant his autobiography years after his death. Good gamble. #justonewordbookphotochallenge #marktwain #samuellonghorneclemens #theadventuresofhuckleberryfinn #theadventuresoftomsawyer #tomandhuck #huckfinn #tomsawyer #faveauthor #anticipated #autobiography
