what was the motivation/inspiration behind "kids (aren't) alright" 👀

Honestly it was mostly motivated by the posts @innytoes made about wanting a leverage ot3 high school au (here and here) and I took those posts and kind of ran with them lmao. Then it became a game of "how many side characters can I fit in and where would they make sense".

I also have like, a Whole Timeline planned out, and this ask made me reread my notes, so fun bonus future content: the first arc focuses on Eliot, the middle arc focuses on Hardison, and the last arc focuses on Parker (they still get scenes and stuff when its not "their" arc, but the fic is not focusing on them as much). Eliot's arc is pretty much over, and I don't have super detailed notes for Parker's arc yet, but Hardison's arc is going to involve the first instance of them doing Crime together and exposing shady teachers who are taking bribes from certain students to boost grades (you can probably guess which student/teacher combo I'm talking about here lol). Trevor Dawson from The Hot Potato Job is also set to pop up soon as another foster kid with the Hardison's. Also, part of Parker's arc is going to revolve around the school year ending and her trying to figure out what to do for the next year - does she stay in high school or does she go back to being a full time thief?

7 and 32 for the fanfic author ask game!

7. What’s the fic you most want to continue (unfinished or no)?

There are actually three that come to mind for this, one of which I never even started writing. However, that one's really more a daydream since I have no real intentions to ever start it.

I have a series of short oneshots (called Secrets) for Natsume Yuujinchou that operate under the AU premise of 'what if Natsume Reiko survived and Natsume Takashi was sent to live with her?' I've always really enjoyed the premise and there is definitely a lot more good stuff I could get to with it. Plus, it's been left off in the middle of a two-parter so there is a very unfinished feel to that piece alone, nevermind the whole thing. Going back to it would require me to reread/catch up on the whole manga to refresh on details and get back into the feel of it. This is something I want to do in theory but have been putting off for about a decade at this point.

I'd like to add more to my OUAT/ATLA fusion verse. It's just a couple oneshots in that verse at the moment but there's much more of it complete in my head.

I've got plenty of other unfinished fics that I still like the idea of and vaguely want to come back to, as well as some that haven't been posted at all and I'd quite like to get to a point where I could. There's some that I had sequel ideas for as well, but those don't really niggle at me the same way.

32. Who’s the one character who shines without you even trying?

This is an interesting question. I'm not sure how to interpret 'shines' - as in, is standout to an audience? to me? is easy for me to write? I guess the latter is easiest to quantify. I feel pretty comfortable writing Phoenix Wright and based on responses I've gotten, others often think so too. Admittedly I do often write him in the midst of more ensemble pieces where there's not so much one main star. Oh, and I suppose it always felt easy for me to write in Rob Wilkins' voice in my alternate character POV series for the 1-800-WHERE-R-U books, and the way I wrote him definitely went over well with that audience.

Hmm okay I know you like clones... Can I interest you in a serving of Bittersweet QuinFox? It's a WIP in which Fox gets his chip removed but the surgery doesn't go so well and he ends up with some memory issues.

Lil snippet:

“Shh,” Quinlan murmured as he rubbed circles into Fox’s skin. Was he still as ticklish there as he’d been before… before? “I’ve got you. Rex has got you. As soon as you wake up, I’ll give you the fattest, wettest kiss ever, and you’ll hate me for it, but you know what?” He leaned down and let his breath ghost over the shell of Fox’s ear like he’d always done when he wanted to walk into the Temple with the meanest-looking hickey the next morning and make Obi-Wan jealous. “It’ll be worth it. And then I’ll let you steal my food to make up for it. Deal?” Fox said nothing. He just breathed against Quinlan’s hand, the heave and sink of his chest steady and sure. Quinlan nodded. “Great. I knew you would tell me to fuck off and then agree. You love sneaking my food.”
