ngl sometimes i wonder if people know wolves are basically very lenient when it comes to younger ones / pups and that some wolves actively act dramatic and whiny and submissive so larger and older wolves will understand that essentially "i am a puppy! you can't hurt me but also i want this (item)!" and that most of the time instinct takes over for the older wolf to relent and let the pup have what they want
