THE WOLVES OF KROMER (1998) dir. Will Gould Once upon a time in the village of Kromer lived two young wolves. Cocksure Gabriel takes newcomer Seth under his paw and helps reconcile him to the vilification associated with being a wolf. They fall head-over-heels in puppy love, playing together around picturesque waterfalls, secluded woodlands, and moonlit lakes. One day a wicked old crone and her goofy sidekick kill their mistress, frame the wolves, and incite a torch-bearing mob of religious zealots to seek vengeance on the hapless pair. But who will live happily ever after? (link in title)

hi rafa silly question do you have letterboxd?? i feel curious about the movies you watch 🫶
I made one and then never added anything !! I don't really like.... performing my reaction to media, if that makes sense, or quantifying it with a rating. That's also why I just can't get myself to use Goodreads consistently... But I do love to talk about movies!
I love a lot of 1960s-70s queer art films – Fellini Satyricon, Sebastiane, Funeral Parade of Roses. I love general queer movies - a huge fav right now is The Watermelon Woman (lesbians in Philly!! i lived in Philly for a while and I love that city so this movie feels close to my heart). Huge fan of this silly little gay movie called The Wolves of Kromer. I recently watched If... (1968), which I thought was brilliant.
Actually, I also recently watched Begotten (1991) because I'd heard it was the most disturbing movie of all time, and it was interesting for sure! I wasn't disturbed by it (I thought it was too removed from humanness) and I found that it relied a little too much on depictions of seizures (disability, really) as shock. I also found the SA scene upsetting, not because of its content but because it really took me out of the movie to wonder if the actress was okay. (And I'm not sure!)
I just remembered I watched the Five Nights at Freddys movie with some family the other day too. It was fun! I love those robot things. And I have a crush on Josh Hutcherson so that was a plus.

im buzzed so im like not in thee best position to seriously discuss it but wolves of kromer is gonna stick with me for like. a while
its clunky and low budget and the effects arent great but its earnest and cute and it made me feel emotions and the twists arent surprising but Kester’s struggle is sooo so relatable and Seth and Gabs are. OAGH!!!!

wolves of kromer was not subtle, but it was cute, and the ending did genuinely make me smile after upsetting me, so im not mad about it
plus the wolves’ outfits were precious and a huge inspo for all werewolf things going forward.

For your consideration, some of my fav werewolf movies have been: Wolves of Kromer, the Company of Wolves (based on the Bloody Chamber by Angela Carter and full of 80s magnificence) and Cursed, which is just fullstop ridiculous fun.
Tysm!

Aw!!!! <333333333333333333333
I’m gonna be 40 in a couple weeks, so yeah, we definitely woulda been friends around highschool/college :D
Araki got me through the mid/late 90s, bless his heart.
I used to own Kromer on dvd (nabbed it up as soon as it was available on Wolfe/TLA Video, ah nostalgia!) My crush on Lee Williams back then was damn near debilitating. lemme tell ya. Me, spending hours (on dialup internet) tracking down measly, minute long clips of Lee in Elephant Juice? More likely than you think.
And Depeche Mode is my alltime favorite group *points to giant ‘enjoy the silence’ forearm tattoo* I can find a way to work their songs into ANY fandom I find myself in, lol.
Will definitely go back through my decade high mountain of reblogs (my queue has been set to post 50 times a day for years now) to find more old faves for ya!

Фильмов пост!
Сидели мы как-то с Mist с дискорде, а она любитель глянуть фильпец и желательно со мной!
Тут я наткнулась на видео по одному фильму
youtube
The Wolves of Kromer  - гейский фильм про сексуальных парниш! (так сказал de’santis!)
Kill Your Darlings  - тоже что-то гейское, как он сказал опять же!
Позже обязательно гляну

hi! i don't know if you've been asked before, but what are your favorite films? and do you have a favourite genre? :)
My favorite movie is Funeral Parade of Roses ! I also love Fellini Satyricon, Sebastiane, If..., Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Watermelon Woman, Kill Your Darlings, The Wolves of Kromer.
Basically, my favorite genre is just "gay" but I do heavily lean toward art films (like Funeral Parade) or more indie projects (The Watermelon Woman). I'm blanking on movies right now, but these r the favs I immediately thought of...

another gay werewolf movie is the wolves of kromer which is a really hard movie to describe, it’s being a werewolf as a metaphor for being gay but the werewolf costumes are just jackets w/ tails also boy george is the narrator
