Dear Gen Freeform Writer
(Edit: I apologize for not coming back to fill out this placeholder. It’s unlike me and it’s negatively affected you. I hope this addition comes at a time when it’s still useful to you; it largely replicates my signup but expands on some things.)
Hi! Thank you for writing for me! I’m reconditarmonia here and on AO3. I have anon messaging off, but mods should be able to contact me if you have any questions.
Fullmetal Alchemist | Machineries of Empire | Legend of Korra
General likes:
– Relationships that aren’t built on romance or attraction. They can be romantic or sexual as well, but my favorite ships are all ones where it would still be interesting or compelling if the romantic component never materialized.
– Loyalty kink! Trust, affectionate or loving use of titles, gestures of loyalty, replacing one’s situational or ethical judgment with someone else’s, risking oneself (physically or otherwise) for someone else, not doing so on their orders. Can be commander-subordinate or comrades-in-arms.
– Heists, or other stories where there’s a lot of planning and then we see how the plan goes.
– Femslash, complicated or intense relationships between women, and female-centric gen. Women doing “male” stuff (possibly while crossdressing).
– Stories whose emotional climax or resolution isn’t the sex scene, if there is one.
– Uniforms/costumes/clothing.
– Stories, history, and performance. What gets told and how, what doesn’t get told or written down, behavior in a society where everyone’s consuming media and aware of its tropes, how people create their personas and script their own lines.
Smut Likes: clothing, uniforms, sexual tension, breasts, manual sex, cunnilingus, grinding, informal d/s elements, intensity; stories whose resolution isn’t the sex scene.
General DNW: rape/dubcon, torture, other creative gore; unrequested AUs, including “same setting, different rules” AUs such as soulmates/soulbonds; PWP; food sex; embarrassment; focus on pregnancy; Christmas/Christian themes; focus on unrequested canon or non-canon ships.

Competence - highly effective teamwork
Intensely Important Nonsexual Nonromantic Relationship
Loyalty - Betraying Leader or Subordinate to Save Them
Loyalty - Deferring To Leader or Subordinate's Judgment
Loyalty - Gestures of Loyalty
Loyalty - Risking Self For Someone
Loyalty - Swearing
I love the loyalty kink in this canon, and in this duo specifically: the trust and competence and stoically hidden but very very intense feelings, the willingness to risk oneself or the other person, or to stake a lot on the other person’s competence (and willingness to hurt or sacrifice the other person because their shared cause says it’s right, too, all the times that comes up), the fighting together in tandem.
So - a dangerous mission (or intelligence-collecting situation) where their deep familiarity/trust/awareness of each other’s presence and fighting style and communication come into play (god, that bit in canon where Hawkeye shoots two guys right over Mustang’s shoulder), or where they worry about each other’s safety, or rescue each other? Or a more private scene? I love the intimacy of their work relationship and personal history, on levels from casual to very intense. I love the "protect my back" exchange so, so much (I'm particularly interested in fics set during a time when that is already part of their relationship history, rather than fics set in Ishval or shortly after, and I am not really interested in fics set when they were children or young adults at all) and the way that, eventually, ends up playing out with regard to Envy.

Competence - highly effective teamwork
FMA: Everyone at Briggs Is Gay
Loyalty - Deferring To Leader or Subordinate's Judgment
Loyalty - Gestures of Loyalty
Loyalty - Risking Self For Someone
I love the loyalty kink in this canon, and in Briggs specifically - both heartwarming and id-satisfying. (The watch! Buccaneer handing Olivier a clean pair of gloves after she kills Raven! Constant and deeply sincere saluting! And Olivier’s lack of patience for anyone’s shit.) Ordinary or extraordinary circumstances - daily life in the fort, a battle with Drachma where they work together seamlessly, surviving a storm or the typical winter cold? Entire Briggs Is Gay would also non-ironically be neat, as would other ways of exploring the idea of Briggs being a united wall made up of people with a lot of secrets and/or racial and gender differences. This of course can bring in Miles specifically - I love the scene where he recounts Olivier's explanation of why it's important to her to have him as her right-hand man.

Platonic Kneeling
I love the loyalty kink in this canon and the various forms it takes - "I'm your gun" with the kneeling, Mikodez showing the contingency plans to Zehun to make a point, Ragath defecting from the Kel because of what they did to his soldiers - and the variety of important, intense platonic relationships. I don't have a lot of particular plot prompts (I'd just love to see more loyalty and trust, especially under strain - deferring to someone's competence or sense of ethics even though you don't know how it will turn out, making difficult choices, verbal or nonverbal displays of loyalty like the kneeling and swearing and the glove thing)...but for Cheris and Jedao I'm especially interested in a post-Glass Cannon timeframe. (Oh my god, they were roommates telepathically bonded. I quite like their Ninefox Gambit interactions as well when he's in her head, but the fallout of everything that happens in the series and how it creates that strong Jedao->Cheris loyalty is very good.) For Nija and Feiyed I reckon Feiyed mentors Nija after rescuing/recruiting her, and maybe they work together in future? Brezan, Khiruev and Ragath in the Revenant Gun timeline or after, trusting each other with the future of the former hexarchate and working together on an interpersonal level? Mikodez and Zehun at any time, oh my god. I also enjoy the faction loyalty within the Kel and within the Shuos in general, and seeing that play out in some proportion or other of ritualized and personal.
Fandom-Specific DNW: I'm aware that there's a lot of torture and dubcon in canon. I don't mind if you mention that they exist but I'd like to reiterate that I absolutely do not want any onscreen, or any details about torture even mentioned.
Fandom: Legend of Korra
Group(s): Korra & Kuvira, Korra & Zaheer
Learning from an Enemy
Mentor/Mentee Relationships
One thing I enjoyed about seasons 3 and 4 of Korra was the writing team’s attempt to write villains who were sincerely committed ideologues with valid points, even if they became evil in pursuit of their goals, and to figure out how Korra could relate to those villains as the Avatar and as the person that she is. I loved how Korra needed to seek help from Zaheer because as an anarchist he truly opposed what Kuvira was doing and wanted to help Korra, and how she was able to empathize with Kuvira at the end of s4 because the two have some big personality similarities. How might they continue to work together or influence each other after the end of s4? I don’t need a redemption arc if that’s not what you’re interested in writing - Zaheer and Kuvira can absolutely continue to believe that their ideals were correct and even that not all of their methods were wrong - but I would be interested in reading about Korra getting more mental/spiritual tutoring from her enemy Zaheer and deciding how much of that she wants to integrate into her practice, seeking Kuvira’s advice on how to handle ongoing developments in the Earth Kingdom as it transitions to a republic, sparring or practicing bending with Kuvira, Spirit World meditation adventures with Zaheer… (I haven’t read the comics, so you can either take or leave comics canon.)
Fandom-Specific Exception: I've been a Korrasami shipper since s1, so if your vision for this fic includes a big part for Asami, consider that an exception to my unrequested-ships DNW.

As finally within the cellulites that both upset us.
Dry brushing would be the juice cleanse with the attractiveness globe. Every one of the chicest crunchy granola celebs (we see you, Gwyneth Paltrow) are carrying out it-between their Bikram courses and runs towards the nearby natural farmers' marketplace, that is-and it truly is supposed to remedy, effectively, quite simply anything, which include bad digestion, cellulite, and no matter what lousy issue transpires when your lymph nodes are not draining (there's no much less interesting phrase during the English language than "lymphatic drainage"). Frankly, the entire issue has constantly sounded type of silly to me, but with summer time best all around the corner and my legs wanting very boring following a winter invested tucked away, I determined to dedicate a month of my existence to it. 1st, a primer for all those of you who have not invested a single twelfth of the 12 months entrenched on the earth of dry brushing: In essence, dry brushing is actually a mixture of exfoliation and massage that will involve taking (brace yourselves) a dry brush and moving it more than the body in slow, circular motions two to 3 instances every week. The company bristles from the brush give your skin a thorough exfoliation although the stress aids to stimulate your circulation and, yep, lymphatic drainage, which in flip is supposed to aid your body do away with harmful toxins.
As certainly is the situation with quite a few supposed cure-alls, numerous claims are already created about dry brushing which can be at greatest unstudied and at worst flat-out untrue (any Allure reader can let you know that no topical process can magically banish cellulite, however factors like massage can temporarily make it seem smoother). But there is certainly some basis for several of the claims-when it involves softer, additional even skin, exfoliation is your pal, in addition to a improve in circulation in the brushing can absolutely depart skin alot more plumped and radiant from the brief phrase. That has a getaway in Cabo to the horizon, I broke out the brush I acquired for Christmas but hadn't in reality employed (thanks, Mom!) and set myself a twice-weekly routine. The system was straightforward (brush, shower, moisturize like crazy). And although it extra one other 5 to 10 minutes to my preshower program a number of occasions per week, it was not also significantly of the dedication (far more on that in the minute). The firm-bristle brush was distinctly scrubby, which, currently being a fan of hard-core exfoliation, I appreciated, but even I uncovered brushing my chest location for being uncomfortably extreme, so delicate styles, beware.
The initial week gave the probably the most obvious results-just not during the way I would hoped. Wherever previously my skin had a boring, I-didn't-shave-all-in-March cast to it, following my initially two dry-brushing sessions, my skin cried out using a thirst that even my most heavy-duty of moisturizers couldn't quench. Then it started out to peel. Lots. Like, full-on post-sunburn peeling. During the saddest way conceivable. I truthfully regarded calling the entire issue off correct there. Even now, I'm a committed attractiveness reporter, so with all the desperate hope that points could only go up from there, I soldiered on. Around the upside, the small flakes of skin sloughing off of my physique with just about every movement did a fantastic work of disguising any unpleasant dimpling on my upper thighs, so I guess it did hold up over the cellulite-fighting guarantees. Week two was a marginal improvement on week a single (potentially for the reason that I had currently shed the complete outer layer of my entire body like a snake). My skin did not appear to become fairly as insatiable in its need to have for lotion, and, glory of glories, the peeling had stopped. There did not appear to become every other notable distinctions in my skin, but at that level just not peeling was this kind of a relief that I did not even thoughts. My skin was somewhat far more hydrated, but nobody was calling me as much as get my freakishly radiant skin inside their moisturizer campaign, so all in all, it had been some thing of the wash.
I realized an essential lesson throughout the third week of my experiment: You possibly can dry-brush as well difficult. Owning invested two days with an unpleasant raw spot behind my left knee (why I acquired overzealous using the back of my knee even I can't describe), I once more regarded regardless of whether trying to keep up with operation was worthwhile. Despite the fact that my skin did seem to be somewhat even more glow-y, and in many cases my typically oblivious boyfriend commented on my skin's satin-like softness, I would not swear the distinction was a lot more than a reliable in-shower scrub could have provided me. However the factor that caught out, now that I had invested all of this time, was much less the surprising alter in my skin and even more a realization about my personal elegance tendencies. In which I'd assume practically nothing of the day-to-day exfoliation schedule for my encounter, plus typical utilization of masks, serums, and all method of other beautifying potions, I had observed that generating the time for you to do a prettifying ritual for my physique appeared like a lot a lot more of the trouble. I started to come to feel poor for my bad, neglected entire body, permanently the runner-up in my elegance regimen, and I vowed to check out the dry-brushing by way of for the finish as an apology of kinds. With only one week to go in advance of holiday, week 4 was, naturally, full of all of my typical last-minute attempts to turned out to be a seaside goddess regardless of not acquiring observed the within of the fitness center in months. Preparing: I am excellent at it. Concerning last-ditch-effort planks and that haircut I would been placing off for as well lengthy, I also identified myself rushing off for the waxing studio in which, to my shock, my technician truly commented on how smooth my skin looked. "Thank you," I mentioned, "I've been dry-brushing." "Oh, that is the ideal," she explained, nodding approvingly, as though I had abruptly develop into a member of an elite club.
So how did all of it deliver the results out during the finish? Properly, there have been undoubtedly some lows (if my skin in no way peels like that once again, it'll be also quickly). I cannot state that my lifestyle (or my lymph) has witnessed any dramatic alter, and my cellulite hasn't disappeared as though by airbrush, but coming out with the finish of it, I've to say I've a sunnier see of your ordeal. Perhaps it had been the compliment from a total stranger who understands a point or two about skin; possibly it can be just my legs, in which the small ingrown hairs that have a tendency to crop up on my calves have disappeared. Possibly it is the flush of your tropical sun on my (heavily sunscreened) smooth skin creating me really feel only a minor bit even more like a seaside goddess. What ever the main reason, I am pondering I may well not be packing away the dry brush just however.

Why the fact that Bucky Fights like Captain America in ‘Civil War’ totally threw me out of the movie..
I talk about certain plot points in Captain America: Winter Soldier and Civil War and may mention the MCU in general passing (I am up to Guardians Vol 2) – so beware possible spoilers for anything MCU – including Netflix series.
Please do not get me wrong, CA:Civil War is a good movie. Well cast, strongly written and characterised and well-paced. There are some story glitches which do not really make a lot of sense, it gives this movie a “middle movie” feeling that it is forcing certain plot arch to happen because they are needed for the inevitable “Infinity War” plot. Which, it is, we have the changing of Bucky from antagonist to protagonist, you have the intro of Black Panther and of course Spider-man back to the franchise after a long tumultuous sojourn with Sony. You have half the Avengers falling out with the other half, and lines drawn in sand etc..  Which makes for an interesting and very full movie with a lot of things going on,
But, and it’s one of those interesting points that now I have seen, it I can’t un notice it..  So much so that I was driven to have a quick “movie marathon” of the Cap America movies, paying particular attention to the think I noticed that felt wrong. And I a pretty sure I am right. It is most strongly apparent when Bucky is evading the Black Ops capture team in Romania and he is fighting up and down the stairs, and using his metal arm as a shield. The specific move he uses to protect himself from a bullet with his left arm prosthetic.. is pure Captain America using his shield move. The bouncing through the banisters and then the parkour, is Captain America.  And when Rogers wades in to help and the wo synchronise their moves are the same.
… and this bugged the heck out of me.. because at this point in the story.. it shouldn’t.  While the two of them could begin to fight together (because this is the first time they have fought on the same side) they should be starting to move together not be pitch perfect from the get go.. And this makes that whole scene weird for me.. I know that it is a set up for later when the two of them are fighting Iron Man, and literally work as a team but at this point in the movie they should not be so synchronous.
It was weird, once I figured this out, I felt better because something aesthetically wrong had made itself known.  I will admit I am not a specialist in Kinesiology, I am sure there will be people that go.. ‘Nope.. That’s bull’ but I have spent a lot of my life around people who do combat as a sport/hobby.  As such I have spent a lot of time watching people fight, because if anything you can learn a lot about a person’s style and flow just by watching them. I know that if you train together with a person for a long time you develop a certain synchronicity as your hind brain and their’s develop a rhythm. you can get it if you are trained by the same person – hence the “Ah I see you have be trained in *blah* style… and I see you have *blah* nuance, where you by chance trained by *such-and-such of certain-area*? It is also east for people trained in the same style to fall into sync easily. But if you have people who have been trained by different people even in the same style, there are subtle differences, maybe in timing, precision, execution etc. And this is what is odd with the fight in the stairwell at that point in the movie.
Now I know that Hydra and SHIELD were heavily entwined and that there may be the chance that the person/people who trained Steve may have been a Hydra supporter, and possibly may have been called in to co-train the Winter Soldier, but if you listen to the conversations being had it is implied that the Winter Soldier was thawed at this point for the purpose of running interference and removing Nick Fury (and possibly, by extension, Steve Rogers) from the scenario so that Project Insight could go into effect. And secure Hydra’s agenda.  Which implies that his training is complete and that he does not need to learn anything else in that regard. Indeed if you watch the Winter Soldier’s fighting style after he quits sniping and actually gets hand to hand he is clinical, efficient and observant. Not one of his moves are a waste of movement. It is a lot like watching the T2 fight in the Terminator movies they do not waste any movement at all. TWS assesses the fight and adapts in a split second. Bucky Barnes- post Hydra is similar but more fluid, and if anything relaxed.(if you can call a fight “relaxed”) its like weeing the difference between Tiger fist and Drinken master. The efficiency of movement is still there and the attention to a precision in fighting, but its vastly different to the Soldier. A good running example is the scene in the stairwell when Bucky is escaping.. and just after Zemo has re-activated TWS. He again goes from a flowing trying not to actually hurt people, to efficient and clinically brutal (although during the escape he is still trying not to kill people – which could start a whole new post about the psychology of Bucky and TWS).
But yes, back to my point. The reason that my brain just fell out of the movie at the point when there is the fight in the stairwell is because at this point in the movie, Bucky should not be That in sync with Steve. He has had different training experience, different skill set and vastly different scenarios when these skills are in use. His skillset is also very different to Rogers. Barnes is predominantly a ballistics man, his forte is the sniper rifle, his back up to this is then the knife and hand to hand, he does stealth and cunning. He only goes hand –to-hand when and if it is necessary. Mostly I think because as bad a Hydra is they, at least, recognise the importance of TWS as an Asset (and when I say asset I mean – a think that has immense value both in resources spent creating and upkeep and in experience.  Regardless of the inhumanity of his upkeep and it’s intermittent nature, TWS has over 60 years of wet-works/black ops experience and while they are blanking his personality and long term memory his trained instinct and muscle memory is invaluable- you do not just burn that asset). Captain America/Steve Rogers, is more of a “lead from the front” I must be an example to everyone, personality. He is roll up to your face, try talking then if need be, beat you into submission. Character his fighting style while forward and in your face is actually defensive, he tries not to kill you if he can, (but he will put you down if you are a threat – he isn’t that stupid) while he Is not a paladin of virtue he is an ideal and he tries to live up to this.. and this powers his fighting style. So the two of them should be very different.
And yet they aren’t in this one scene. It is like you have two Captain America’s fighting in that stairwell, and later in the missile silo. The two are interchangeable, now you could just go “ah well super soldiers” and you can also go “hey, just a movie- lighten up” but it’s one of those things that bugs me a bit.. and sometimes the devil is indeed in the detail and it’s a minor niggly detail that most people wouldn’t notice. but i just found that it  just distracts me a bit.. i spend a lot of time just wondering when the two got together and did fight practice. Does Bucky watch TV religiously and “practice” Cap’s moves... I had a mental image of scenes remeniscent of those western karate movies wher ethe young protagonist is stood in front of the TV copying the moves of their chosen combat Guru..  I am sure there is a whole mini-adventure here of “how Bucky shook off Hydra conditioning and decided to be like Steve”....
But I will admit, this niggle does not distract me from the whole ‘Tony Stark being a complete Muppet and irresponsible a-hole’.. and that’s a whole new rant regarding… Taking a 15 year old with no real combat experience except beatign up a few street thugs and stopping a few car accidents,  into combat against a group of seasoned veteran Avengers who are experience at fighting together as a team..….!!!! .....Please what the ever-living hell man!!... but that is a rant for another day..
