one of my absolute favourite yjh moments is when he calls himself a former regressor. it is so so important to him and his character arc and journey in selfhood.

the moment he realises he’s in a story ofc it hurts.. but he’s already been inside a story, one that constellations have been consuming for their own entertainment. and yjh isn’t upset at kdj for reading his story but for viewing him as a character. kdj had already read his story and decided he understood him better than anyone else, when orv constantly tells us that it’s impossible to truly know a person. every voice and story is different and equally important.

when he fought kdj it was never about killing him even tho kdj’s unreliable ass viewed it that way; it was his own desperate attempts at getting kdj to see him as an actual person. to kdj, the yjh he’s familiar with is the one who continues to regress over and over again and he’s been viewing yjh in that lens, calling him a sunfish etc, despite yjh showing time and time again he’s going to give it his all this round.

by rejecting that, yjh attempts to defy his narrative constraints while also giving kdj the opportunity to have a deeper connection with him, and it shows when kdj introduces himself again. it’s such a touching scene honestly

yjh is a character with no agency, even in his own story. what strips him of that agency is ironically what gives him the most freedom to repeat over and over again, to know that he is the only one who can reach the end of the scenarios, no matter how long it would take him. but he wants to live and he wants to stay in this round w kimcom…
