i like mama xu but this wisdom+advice - especially in ye guang's situation - is just complete and utter bullshit, i'm sorry, but what the hell, his parents just basically berate and verbally kinda abuse him, lmao, why are any of these people incapable to just say, "yes, your parents suck, i'm sorry."

like, i get what she's trying to say and to a certain degree i agree, and yes i know she doesn't have that much information AND she is a parent herself, lmao, but like, eugh, i hate this shit because sometimes parents just suck and are asshole and there's not much you (especially as the child) can really do - like, i approve of communication but it doesn't work if the other party won't listen (which i highly doubt his parents would do, lmao)

addendum: "We've always cared a lot about you," she (ye guang's mother) says right after his father hit him AND they were classist, elitist pricks; also, the whole scene? fucking atrocious, he should kill his parents and let this turn into a different kind of drama, lol

2nd addendum: they will not make me sympathetic to the parents in the last episode because of that video ye guang sent them and them going "yeah, maybe we SHOULDN'T treat our son like an investment and push him so much, hmmm", lmao, like, not happening, that realisation comes like way too late
