like most western european farmers aren't small ranchers subsisting from their land, they're owners of large tracts of land who will often exploit their own workers (often migrants) and who are extremely right-wing themselves and despise environmental laws not bc they're poor widdle things being squeezed by the System TM but because these get in the way of more profit, even at the cost of the health of their workers and people consuming the food they produce lol
