Harringrove folie a deux, except they're so delusional that they don't realize that by merely being in each other's orbit they hasten the other's decline into madness.

But apart their worlds crumble and reality is cold and lackluster.

Which is crueler, letting them blissfully destroy each other? Until nothing is left of the other? Or parting them and watching each waste away the remainder of their days to tedium and loneliness?
