thinking about the way kim is proud of his lack of connection to his seolite family, minimizes that part of himself, in the way it allows him "evidence" to his revacholian-ness (not that you can ever truly meet a racist moving goal post, and doing so just throws others and pieces of yourself under the bus). like, his urge to meet the status quo to prove his place in his society, as if that might earn him the respect he inherently deserves.

i wonder if he would have a similar approach to his sexuality, honestly. like, what's his deal with internalized homophobia? he's blunt about being gay, will bite back at harry's homophobic comments, is suspicious of klaasje's predatory ruby story..... but i wonder if on a subtler level, he has a similar belief like "i don't do X as a gay man, please don't count it against me." like, imo, i think he generally abstains from gay relationships and community, because i do think that alienation from community is important to his character arc.
