ahh unfortunately that's not a plotty or interesting reason at all anon! the great comet production in london has a sort of 90s aesthetic, and all of natasha's costumes made me think of alicia silverstone in clueless - fitted skirt and jacket combos, light pinks and blues, hair down; overall just a sparkly look that skirts by classy. as a whole, natasha is played a bit more like a teenager and less like a Young 1810s Lady, so it kind of gave me that "rich girl in a 90s teen movie" vibe clueless did so well with cher :')

👕, for layla if you'd like to?

Mino blushes nervously at the proposition of dressing Layla, the pinnacle of fashion that she is. She's seen glimpses of her wardrobe, but since when has Mino ever backed down from a worthy challenge?! She sees the two of them going on a lovely tour of Westcrown's vaneos (villas) and their spectacular gardens, with a sunset-backed dinner in the most grand of them she can find.

She's definitely nervous! She doesn't know Layla that well and wants to impress! Hopefully she can making a lasting impression.

Top: The first thing Mino notices is the flowers. Mino loves a good floral pattern and has a softspot for wildflowers and gardens herself! She also notices Layla's many dresses bare her shoulders, and so she has a slightly... bold suggestion for a layered look. Layla has so many gorgeous dresses so Mino presents this white, floral bodice in combination with this semi-sheer, deep blue shawl. The shawl has a shimmer of subtle color and shine in it that'll look so gorgeous with Layla's long hair, and the floral embroidery on the bodice fits her aesthetic. If it's a little too daring, she'll be happy to find a more modest top instead!

Bottoms: Now, Mino avoided a dress but she also isn't going to be looking for pants or trousers or leggings for Layla either. Instead, this layered, tie-top skirt is high-waisted enough to connect with the bodice she selected, and pairs perfectly with the shawl for a color coordinated ensemble. The volume is sure to give a lovely swish to it if you do a spin!

Shoes: These shoes are to die for (so Mino says). White heels with a blue floral print ties the whole outfit together! The silver buckles on the straps too are just so cute, and make it a simple matter to find some matching accessories.

Hair/Hat: Layla, your hair is gorgeous, but Mino cannot resist seeing you in a big floppy sunhat. *Especially* for a garden date. She made sure to pick one out that has an ribbon on it! As for the color - she's waffled on traditional straw, white, or blue given Layla's white hair color. This white one with black accents strikes a good middle ground.

Other Accessories: Flowers are one thing, but an azata? An azata must have some butterflies. These multicolored butterfly hair clips can be woven up into a long plait (Mino will be happy to do her hair!) and will add a splash of color to the outfit aside from just blue! She also really loved this combination butterfly ring and bracelet chain, but couldn't decide between it and these white lace floral gloves!

update from the curse of the polycotton mockup: i think the inside of the (longer) right sleeve has given me a bit of a rash (it's snuggest at the elbow when i bend my arm, and there are red spots on the skin on the inside of my elbow)

if my body is trying to convince me to wear less polyester in sensitive sweaty areas, i wish it would stop, because i don't actually need to be convinced of that TnT please body it's just a mockup i'm not going to do this to you long-term i will be wearing nice cottons and linens and rayons and blends between those with as little polyester as physically possible
