no matter how many times pascal changes, seeing him always be some kind of messed up centaur brings me immense joy
he's extremely serious about being a horse
i then did a massive ramble in the tags and realised i should just put it in the post body so here are my tags pasted for your pleasure:
it's more integral to him than my other horse themed characters even puck lol. but i was thinking about it recently. how much can i distill away until all that remains is just the bare essence of a character.. all else could change but if this essence changed then that would not be him. for pascal it's not necessarily Being A Horse (thus why he also works well as a big harpy). it's being something large and dangerous but not like a wild animal is. by which i mean he is not being contained by bars or ropes. if he chose to hurt you, you couldn't stop him. but the thing that holds him back is his need to please One other person who, ultimately, could not actually stop him in any meaningful way. and it's interesting to me as someone who spent a lot of time in stables. how ppl would treat the stallion like a ticking time bomb like a violent monster who never got the same level of attention b/c he was assumed dangerous but that's still a domesticated animal who's day could be made with the right treat and some tlc. Anyways. wow these tags
it was something i explored in ironwall a lot. and for him in particular his attitude problems arise from being a beast of burden who is nonetheless nearly always the most threatening person in the room just by virtue of what he is. he can talk to u however he likes. what are u gonna do fight back?? he's like 8 feet tall. he's 18.5hh. so he can get away with shit other people don't get away with and it's how he develops his own streak of unchecked pushy nastiness. aka: he is, behaviourally, like a horse; you can sit in the saddle and make him do whatever you like but we're all very aware that you're only there because he hasn't thrown you yet.
