Well idk it is like, I have a high tolerance for people writing things that are ooc as long as it's still fun, interesting, or amusing. I'm not too strict about canon in that I think if you want to use it as vague inspiration for your own ideas that's great. There are just certain ideas and tropes I don't enjoy and ones I do. Like if you make gideon ooc but she's still got something weird going on and she's consistent in the world of the fic I will read it. And while I do think we could all stand to at times examine what tropes automatically pop into our brains related to different types of characters, I'm also not going to like be mad if there's some ooc fluff going on somewhere

Pokémon Masters: Lusamine is redeemed now
Also Pokémon Masters: We gave her a Sync Pair with Dusk Mane Necrozma, the space parasite that wants to kill everybody while it jams out to dramatic, evil organ music. Because she's redeemed.
Make the decision make sense to me.

Problematic muses aren't just "sexy villains who push boundaries a little in a flirty way".
They can reflect ideologies the mun doesn't have, like being sexist / homophobic / abusive, or hold an extreme or radical political view
They're not just muses who have risky kinks or come from controversial fandoms.
You have the right to decide if you don't want to roleplay with a muse whose personality or story triggers you, but you have to let the mun play them as they wish because its their character and they don't have to make them digestible for you.

apparently this is a hot take but i don't think the p5 adult woman confidants are bad characters just because you have the option to romance them. keyword is option because you can literally play the whole game without getting with any of them and they just treat you normally. something something you control the buttons you press

There's a universe out there where Oliver is the only child to be taken in by the King and he lives out his life as the prince of the Kingdom. He's oblivious to his Father's hidden misdeeds.
That doesn't mean there still isn't a villain terrorizing the land. A very familiar face...

Rebirth Spoilers under the cut.
I haven't completed the game yet, but I've passed the battle you have with Roche in that wall of death style arena. I completed that mission with all 5 of my infantry friends still alive and the speech Roche delivers after Cloud had cleaved his bike in half actually made me a little misty eyed.
And the reason for that is mostly for the fact that it becomes apparent here that the Remake may have lead us to believe that Roche doesn't play well with others. Well that entire crowd seemed to adore him, in their own way maybe, perhaps they were just following his orders (let's not forget, he may only be a Third Class SOLDIER, but he is still SOLDIER and therefor out ranks the infantry) but they all seemed to be having a blast watching this battle take place.
And at the end, I'm shown that Roche has a sensitive side.
He loves people. He loves the aspect of being social. Of caring for those around you, for those beneath your lead.
And he KNOWS what Cloud is, he KNOWS he isn't a member of ShinRa, at least, not any more. He KNOWS he's affiliated with AVALANCHE and he literally commended him for taking care of the infantrymen who followed him into that arena. Roche showed a tremendous amount of respect for Cloud in that moment; no bitterness for losing to him, he took that as graciously as he always has. Just... adoration for doing the right thing.
Because yes, they are ShinRa employees, and Cloud could have just left them to their fate, or even killed them himself. But he didn't, he looked after them, saw them through to the end of that road, because they are just people. People with lives of their own outside of all that, with families and hopes and ambitions, and Roche could see that and commends Cloud for it before literally helping with his escape.
Even if Cloud didn't really appreciate it at the time and calls Roche a jackass xD
But I love him, you guys. I love him so so much, because I honestly feel like he hates his situation and just does his best, in his own chaotic and ramshackle way, to do right by the people who surround him, not because it's his duty, but because they are just people.

you see, the problem with writing my oc backstories while listening to epic the musical is that i start instinctively changing details to match the lyrics of the current song playing.
and then i have to examine whatever "brilliant new backstory detail" i just thought of, and go:
(in the voice of someone trying to see what's in their dog's mouth) is that your oc's backstory? is it? yeah, um- no. no, it's not. that's odysseus of ithaca. put him back. no, i don't care if "ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves", your oc is ten years old and she does not have the ability nor the time to somehow get a crew of soldiers killed. move her along to the assassin plotline and put the sad greek man back where he came from.

So Reylos are now freaking out over episode 4 of Ahsoka cause Anakin showed up in what appears to be the wbw. I have not watched Ahsoka and don't plan to. I personally think that nothing will come out of this in regards to Ben Solos return. People think Leia sacrificed herself to send Ben there? If she sacrificed herself to save him then he wouldn't have gone anywhere he would have been alive.
Anyone who thinks there was planning or thought behind anything in tros is delusional.
Thinking they're setting up Ben's resurrection is almost as removed from reality.

Do you think the discourse around Ironwood being "right" even when he obviously isn't is partly driven by people's ingrained perception about Western Imperialism?
i think the rwby fandom as a whole is just profoundly bad at reading what rwby is doing thematically and fandom in general is set up to incentivize fighting to the death over countertextual readings so like. what do you expect to happen, really.
of course fandom discourse will always reflect the wider cultural zeitgeist and in that sense the average rwby viewer is bathing in US military propaganda all the time and sure that might be a factor in why some folks latched onto ironwood—or winter or clover or the ace-ops or frankly i would argue any of the core heroic cast given that all of them are, you know, members of an elite warrior-police caste. lol.
but ironwood and other stupid discourse is largely a symptom of fandom being… what it is. that’s the end result of building a passionate community around the “fuck canon” text-as-sandbox approach. hrhghdj

// Aoyama having some sort of relationship with AFO and seeing him regularly is cooler than him just never rly seeing the guy much so that’s what I’m choosing to believe lol . basically for my interp, Yuga sees AFO pretty regularly and ends up seeing him more of an abusive family member than a villain even if they aren’t actually related .
// AFO makes him and his parents refer to him as “uncle”, and he often uses manipulation to get people to fall in line . Yuga has to regularly interact with him, especially after the traitor role is set up for him, so AFO’s constant controlling presence would be more similar to an abusive family member just because it’s far more personal than just being extorted by an unseen presence . Yuga knows that he’s not in control, he knows that AFO could destroy his entire life and kill his parents if he wanted to, but he’s still forced to talk with him and show him gratitude for his gifted quirk . AFO is a lot more scary to him because he’s not always cruel, a lot of the times he really seems kind . Yuga is fully aware (and has seen) what terrible things AFO can do, the fact that he’s basically forced to treat him as a familial figure is what really gets into his head on a deeper level than just threats would (partially because of how much weight he/his parents put on family and loyalty to family) he knows that if he doesn’t keep up this falsely good familial bond, horrible things will happen, and that constant dread is the main reason he doesn’t get the strength to rebel for a long time and ends up beyond terrified of the guy .

So I watched AC again for like the billionth time a couple of days ago, and after an in-depth conversation with @ghostofnibelheim/ @roleplay-abiogenesis2 about it I've been thinking about it a whole lot since.
Like, I know the remnants are supposed to represent the difference facets to Sephiroth's personality;
Kadaj: Ruthless, cunning and vindictive. Incredibly intelligent making him the brains of the outfit.
Yazoo: quiet yet charming. Very attractive, Cool calm and eerily collected.
Loz: strong, tunnel visioned, immature, overly emotional and sensitive due to immaturity.
At least without looking it up that's what I get from their characters. They are all very extreme representations of everything that makes Sephiroth, well... Sephiroth.
But then there's Cloud whom they refer to as their "Big Brother" and "Black Sheep" even though his relationship with Jenova and Sephiroth as a whole is vastly different. Not a remnant as such, but a clone and the first and only largely successful one at that considering that it's stated in lore that Sephiroth's DNA cannot be replicated. But like, Cloud isn't a true clone as such, he's just been brutally tampered with to hold parts of Sephiroth/Jenova inside him which is where Sephiroth's obsession with him comes from.
Reunion is the mass joining of all of Jenova's parts to make the whole and Jen!Sephiroth needs the missing pieces Cloud harbours to make that whole. I mean I'm telling you what we already know, I'm just attempting to make it all make sense again in this rambling theory we have here.
Because the Remnants lack the ability to pinpoint where they need to look for Jenova's head in the movie. They know that's their goal, and they have the knowledge to know where to look for clues, but no direct attraction to the calamity's exact location where as Sephiroth did have this instinct about him, as does Cloud to a lesser degree. He knew what to do, and where to go, Jenova's goal etc. The remnants don't and rely on other sources to tell them their next step.
But it isn't until Kadaj gets a hold of Jenova's remaining cadaver that he's able to summon Sephiroth but... Is that really him? Or is this Jenova shape shifting again and showing Cloud what he fears and hates the most? (A bit like Stephen King's IT where the creature feeds on fear and and morphs into the things that you fear the most) or is Sephiroth and Jenova so interlinked now that there's no discernable difference anymore?
Because I always struggled with this part of the story. Crisis Core showed us that Sephiroth was actually a good man, with good morals. He didn't agree with his orders and actions but felt he had no control over them. Orders were orders and he'd been so heavily indoctrinated by ShinRa from a very young age to just do as he's told when he's told to do it.
It wasn't until Genesis literally sprouted a wing and flew away that he grasped the notion that being a free man was even a possibility and planted that seed. But even then, he just talked about "quitting" and getting away rather than destroying everything. He showed little to no signs of mental instability, only that he was desperately lonely and extremely unhappy in his situation.
Nibelheim happened so very suddenly. One minute he's of sound mind and the next he's utterly insane. The descent into that insanity was so incredibly short (where no one tried to help or even attempt to relate to his better nature of which he DID have one. You did Sephiroth so fucking dirty here, Squeenix...) that I feel we're lead to believe that he just gave up after finding out the truth which gave Jenova that chance, in Sephiroth's moment of weakness, to take over. I'm sorry, but ain't NO WAY this man, so calculated in his assumptions despite how sheltered he is would suddenly just be like I'M CETRA NOW LETS KILL EVERYTHING. It makes absolutely no sense.
But again, come AC we're again being forced fed the notion that Sephiroth is the one in control, that he's so intune with Jenova that he can continue to respawn and cause devestation because the planet can't digest him when he enters the lifestream...
... Apart from the fact that it actually CAN!
See, after the fight in AC, when Kadaj returns and is dying in Clouds arms, Aerith calls to him, and he is accepted into the flow of the lifestream, which tells me that the parts which make up the remnants are actually human, not alien. These extreme facets of Sephiroth are what made him HUMAN and NOT Jenova. That the two are so closely knitted together that the lifetream cannot split them apart on its own hense why Sephiroth is constantly being rejected by the lifestream, not just because he has a strong will to survive and exact Jenova's bidding, but also because his make up is so very complex, thus giving him this pseudo immortality as it were.
I mean, Angeal never came back, maybe that was a simple case of just not wanting to? I don't know at this point.
But my point is that I believe the remnants do not have Sephiroth's reunion instinct because their make up is wholly human, because Sephiroth was actually conceived naturally and birthed to a human mother despite being tampered with in the womb. But he was still a person before the hatred and the crazy and the remnants show us that.

With the (my) recent revelation that the system changes mission scenarios in the world to force Shen Qingqiu to make certain choices that he otherwise wouldn’t have in order to craft a more harrowing narrative, would the system have allowed him to simply ask Luo Binghe to descend into The Endless Abyss?

This is what it feels like being a hex fan sometimes, like its not even a twitter issue (and in a sense its not necessarily an issue, sometimes ppl just wanna have fun n not spout theories n discussion 24/7! I get that!) but i feel like a lot of people r quick to write off aspects of the game and characters and insist that, despite it being a mullinsverse title, it's not that deep/things are surface level
#This goes for a lot of characters. you can already guess one of them since i defend his honor constantly here#but like. I've seen a lot of people brush off Irving as just 'the big bad' and insist theres nothing deeper to his character#than just being an abusive villain#he very much IS an abusive villain. Irving is not Irving if he isn't a metaphor for abuse in the video game industry#but that doesnt mean you can't. lets say. interpret his relationship with Lionel as something more than just 'ai assistant n his dev'#that doesnt mean you cant read inbetween the lines n point out *he cares about Lionel. and that a good chunk of his motivations r bc of him#Irving is rightfully hated but often times I get. nervous. that one of these days someone is gonna accuse me of being a sympathizer#or making him act 'ooc' or giving him grace when he doesnt deserve it#bc god forbid someone in a game where every character has layers. has layers#regardless: no discussion about Irving really leaves raw hatred or 'omg hes hot' anyways#Bryce is also a good example cause when he's not being a horrible yaoi fodder victim#Everyone just says 'Oh hes so nice! He's so kind! I feel bad for him!' and moves on#No one wants to pick apart that he's not a pure angelic soul who gets pushed around. that hes nuanced#and that there is very much commentary that ties to his black identity and the forced role of 'fighter'#To many Bryce's story is simple; got put in CAX and then he got out n granny died and it was REALLY bad#and then they dont care to analyze him further than that. i understand that the nature of the game leaves some characters underdeveloped#But there is still very much a lot to pick apart with every character in the game; sadly a lot of people don't care to do anything w/ it#feels like that en mass the fandom has this air of anti-discussion despite the source material. idk man idk#Im goin to bed early lol ive been tired ever since i got back from school#but yeah. my opinions
