Mc isn't even supposed to have a cat. Their mother isn't a very big fan of animals in general. Cats are relatively easy to take care of as well, so she got used to it pretty quickly. Dogs or birds are a hell of a lot more work, and I don't see Ione being okay with one staying in the house. Before Ash died, the cat stayed with them but was considered both of theirs. After Ash's games, their mom was able to convince Mc to take the cat because she noticed it was the only thing that seemed to make them smile. Mc should've gotten in trouble when their mom found it in their room, but at that time, she wasn't going to take it away from them. She's strict, but she's not a monster

How does MC’s family feel about their relationship with Creon… assuming we can be in a relationship with them at the beginning.

Mcs family honestly doesn't know any details. All they know is that Mc now has a friend in the capitol. Their mother is very happy about that and anytime Creon contacts Mc she'll go on and on about how important these types of connections are. As long as no problems come from it Mcs father doesn't care all that much. Both he and Calliope find it kind of impressive that Mc manages to befriend such a powerful person so quickly
