All the spikey snipsnop images are depicting an alligator snapper.

Adult alligator snapping turtles can range from 18-200 pounds (8-91 kg) with records showing some adults in the 300-400 lb range (136-181 kg)

They also, notably, have a really, really long neck.

The neck can be estimated as about 2/3 the length of the body, and it's very flexible.

And their jaws are incredibly powerful.

So that means they can get out of containers you don't expect them to.
