Random Cherryblade thoughts, for the 3 people who care

• Cherry likes being around Johnny because she can be more carefree, and not care about what her friends or parents think about her language or behavior.

• Johnny likes being around Cherry because he can let his guard down, and not worry about where he’s sleeping that night or when he’s eating next.

• They hang out at Cherry’s house when her family isn’t home (which is often). Every time Johnny is over he eats like, 8 sandwiches and takes home 12 (he doesn’t get to eat too often)

• Their first date was in the woods. Not west or east side, not soc nor greaser territory. They go there often and just chat about whatever.

• In those woods, Johnny catches fireflies for Cherry. He gets them everytime, he’s very quick and he has good hand-eye-coordination. In return, Cherry explains to Johnny how fireflies glow.

• The first time they went to a store (a simple corner mart), Johnny took out all of the candy he stole out of his pockets after they left and Cherry thought for sure that the police would come and arrest them both. (They didn’t.) (Johnny now doesn’t steal when he’s with Cherry.)

• Johnny really wants to pay for Cherry’s things when they are out, but he’s got zero money. So Cherry gives him the money to pay for things so he can pretend to buy her things.

• Cherry also gives Johnny money for the pinball machine in the arcade, that he’s really good at.

• Johnny taught Cherry how to use his switchblade. He also taught Cherry how to throw a good punch.

• Marcia, Sodapop, and Ponyboy are the only people that know they are together.

• Marcia found out on accident, when she saw them together at Cherry’s house, when she was over to give Cherry something she accidentally left behind. Cherry was petrified, and tried to explain to Marcia the situation, but to her relief, Marcia didn’t care that he was a greaser. Johnny and Marcia got along well, and the three would hang out often.

• When Johnny told Soda about how he was dating Cherry, and Soda did not believe Johnny until Cherry pulled up with her stingray.

• Cherry was surprised at how fluffy and curly Johnny’s hair was when it wasn’t greased back. Cherry then put Johnny’s hair in rollers, and made it even more fluffy and curly.

• One time, Cherry woke up to see Johnny asleep on her floor, with one of her sweaters over him as a blanket.

• Cherry likes The Beatles, and she puts their records on when she’s at her house with Johnny. Johnny never says anything about it, despite him hating The Beatles. He actually enjoys a few songs, and he gets reminded of her every time he hears a Beatles song in public.

• They bake cake together at Cherry’s house. Cherry learned how to from her mom, and Johnny learned how to from Darry. They normally make a simple vanilla cake with too many sprinkles.

• Cherry let Johnny try driving her stingray down the block. He’s never driven before, and he hit someone’s trash can. Cherry drove him back to her house.

• Cherry didn’t believe Johnny when he told her that he was a good fighter on the rare occasion when he did fight, until she saw him and his gang fighting some other gang one day when she was going to pick him up. He came into her car, bloody and bruised, but his gang was the winner of that fight. Cherry then believed him.

• Cherry bought Johnny a sweater when it started getting cold in Tulsa. It was a soc sweater, so he never wore it around the gang, but it was always on when he was alone in the lot or with Cherry.
