interpreting whatever was going on in s5-7A as a love triangle is such an oversimplification of what actually happened. it’s almost a misnomer bcos the show reinforces over and over again that eleven and amy have the most important bond and all of their emotional intimacy is reserved for the other and not with either of their spouses. rory and river are corners they are backed into rather than things that they actually want. the core of the show is about 11amy, everything else is there to supplement that.
