"Hello everyone! Biff here on ARMS Island with a special announcement!" Biff shouted on the intercom.
"Today is the 7 year Anniversary of ARMS, ARMS, ARMS! So our players here on ARMS Island will be happy to spend some time with their fans." Biff spoke.
It has been 7 years since ARMS came to the Nintendo Switch. So today, I'm making an open roleplay for some of your favorite ARMS characters; from Spring Man to Dr. Coyle.
I also roleplay as my fave females; Lola Pop, Twintelle, Min, Min and Ribbon Girl. So don't be afraid to pop on in.
Open for: @friendlyheartless, @hoshi-neko-hikari, @bluemajingirl, @the-silver-screen-queen, @thesuckerpuncher, @keywcilder

Every ARMS fighter and their favorite social media site.
Spring Man: Twitter. A basic site for a basic boy.
Ribbon Girl: Snapchat. Keeping up with fashion trends and laughing at stale memes is the name of the game.
Ninjara: Twitch. He really should be studying...
Master Mummy: WhatsApp. Almost as old as he is.
Min Min: Tumblr. She’s gay and I don’t think anyone disagrees.
Mechanica: Discord. I’ve never met someone like Mechanica who wasn’t a gamer.
Twintelle: TikTok. She pretends she doesn’t know. She knows.
Byte and Barq: Skype. He’s just never found a good enough reason to switch since the app’s inception.
Kid Cobra: YouTube. He’s probably grinded on his golden play button when he got it. How’d that work out, buddy?
Helix: Omegle. Leave him alone. He’s trying his best.
Max Brass: Facebook. I wish it weren’t so but he’s 52.
Lola Pop: MySpace. But ironically.
Misango: Nextdoor. He still hasn’t figured out if his spirit would count as a pet or not...
Springtron: 4Chan. Would commit a hate crime if he knew how to.
Dr. Coyle: Reddit. Probably unironically brags about her IQ.

This whole ARMS thing could be a huge shake up for character chances depending on who gets the invitation.
If Spring Man gets in, that opens chances for Assist Trophies like Midna, Shovel Knight or Waluigi (Hopefully not the final one just yet due to how some people were harassing Sakurai).
If Ribbon Girl gets in, Mii Costumes like Rex or Tails can become their own fighter.
If Min Min, Ninjara or Twintelle (some the most popular characters as far as I can tell) get in, Spirits can become fighters. That one really opens up the floodgates for characters like Shantae, Rayman and plenty others.
The remaining ARMS characters are either gimmicky even for their series (Lola Pop, Byte and Barq, Helix, Misango), have complex body shapes that may lower their chances (Mechanica, Master Mummy, Kid Cobra), or a straight-up clone of another character (Springtron). That leaves Max Brass or Dr Coyle, who are admittedly important to the series lore, but that would be the first time a series would be introduced to Smash not by their main character.

It's Max Brass versus "the speed demon," Kid Cobra!A top snakeboarder has made his way into the ARMS Grand Prix!Years of snakeboarding have honed his leg strength. He can jump sideways better than any other fighter!I heard that “the commish” can break a snakeboard in half using a single earlobe! That’d get me jumping!" This was the Biff quote I mentioned. Holy smokes dude
It’s true!! One of the first things I found out while playing ARMS is that Biff can’t stop talking about how big and strong Max is. It’s absolutely delightful. I’m surprised he didn’t finish by saying Max could crush a snakeboard with his thighs, at the rate he’s going. You think they ever have to turn off Biff’s microphone when he gets carried away with his commentary?
I might have already mentioned this too, but my other favorite Biff quote is when you’re about to fight Misango as Max Brass, and he just totally brushes aside the interesting history of the Temple Grounds to talk about Max’s muscles again.
“It's Max Brass versus ‘the spirited fighter,’ Misango! Some ARMS enthusiasts believe this deep and imposing forest holds great significance. In fact, they contend that it could be the birthplace of the ARMS ability… It's a nice thought, but what they SHOULD be focusing on is Max Brass and those massive muscles!”

Today is the day! Time to set sail and get in some well earned, long awaited summer time! Now what could everyone be up to? Here’s a little masterpost of everyone during the summer trip, who all went and who all didn’t!
Who went:
Rayman
Nearly missed the boat. Slept in a tad bit and ran out in a panic. He probably lost half or all his luggage getting to the boat but hey. That’s okay. He’s going to fall back to sleep for the next few hours on the boat here. Expect to stop by every buffet and play some killer volleyball games by the time he wakes up.
Mumbo
Made it on the boat in a good time! Has a...surprisingly large amount of luggage for just a summer vacation. A lot of security checks were done on the guy before he could board. Might want to have a close eye on him. Magical shenanigans may ensue shortly...Right after he gets a good sun tan, of course. May take a swing at making fresh summer drinks and grilling up some food if the staff needs those kind of volunteers.
Misango
Made it on the boat...really early, actually. Has little to no luggage to take with him. Might or might not be looking forward to finding some souvenirs to take back with him when the boat hits land! Either found by himself somewhere on the boat, admiring the view...or in a panic trying to find his spirit that keeps floating off and getting lost on the boat.
Riki
Very eagerly made it on the boat! Has promised his wifepon and all his littlepon to bring something back for every single one of them from his trip! Now could everyone please stop mistaking him as a volleyball? He’s been bumped, set and spiked more times than he can count and he’s only been on the ship for a couple of hours.
Who didn’t go:
Cappy
Volunteered to stayed behind. He wants to be at the mansion to see and formally greet the new fighter when she joins the battle after all! But he’d be lying if he said he wasn’t a little bummed that he didn’t go with everyone else...
Fiora
Staying behind in case anyone happens to need to go to the clinic. She’s also helping keep the place a little tidy. She wants it to look nice when everyone comes back! Might help make their welcome back meal as well.
Master Mummy
...Just missed the boat. Actually had to be fished out because he just missed it. Currently taking some time to dry all his bandages off. Was heavily conflicted whether he should come along or not. That much water can be a little uncomfy to be around, but vacation time is pretty nice... Oh well. Rooms are mostly empty right? Time to raid the kitchen or something.
Daroach
Chose to stay behind. Yeah, summer trip is nice and all, but too many people around to getting any decent stealing done. He prefers the colder weather anyways... Hey! Maybe the mansion is unguarded! Maybe he can find some stuff to steal for there!
Helix
Missed the boat. Wait...there was a summer vacation? Why did no one tell the guy?
Byte and Barq
Chose to stay behind to help watch and guard the mansion. Being on beach patrol has given the two plenty of time for summer trips so they don’t mind staying behind! Besides. Someone has to stop a certain thief crawling in the mansion.

I haven’t drawn Misango in... FOREVER!!! And it shows.
My blog for him might be inactive, but I can still give him headcanons!
... anyway, hc that he’s not quiet because he doesn’t like anyone or anything, but he’s a bit nervous about how his English sounds (or French, which he learned from Twintelle) and also is a bit shy in general. When he’s at home with his family and friends, he’s much more‘spirited’!
I really like drawing fighters without their masks on, huh? My excuse for Misango is that, because his culture is so about fighting and the arms ability, he’s been training to be able to control his arms with or without a mask. The mask just makes it much easier.
#sorry kc you're amazing and great but HE...#i have no idea why i saw him and immediately thought 'i have to get this game'#🐍 ~ 'Who's THIS wise-guy?' (OOC)#misango#misango arms

Why Can’t We Be Friends?
Hey fight fans,
I’ve been spending some time in the ARMS lab, and I thought it’d be a good time to write about our newest fighter, Misango, who’ll be coming to the game as part of the 4.0 update that’s launching today!
Popular guy!
Taking a closer look at him, he’s got this friendship bracelet thing on lock. There’s some braided patterns within his ARMS, and if you peep his garments, there’s a thick cloth on top of other woven material. If you look at his stage, Temple Grounds, there are tons of friendship bracelets tied around pillars and hanging from the walls of the arena. Even though his scowl’s a little serious, he probably makes a lot of friends when he isn’t climbing the ranks of the ARMS League.
That spirit above him is a mysterious entity that follows Misango wherever he goes, and more importantly, grants him some pretty awesome abilities when he’s gotta throw down in the ring. He’s also bringing three new ARMS into the game as his default options. If you can unlock those for the rest of the cast, they can have some serious fun with them, too!
After a bit of hands-on sleuthing, I uncovered quite a few interesting tidbits about Misango and his spirit companion that you might find handy as you start planning new combat strategies.
Misango can absorb the power of the spirit in two ways:
The first is by fully charging via a dash or jump, which allows Misango to immediately absorb the spirit in its current state. The second is by charging via a guard; after a guard is held long enough, the spirit transforms into a small pillar of spiritual energy in front of him that Misango can walk into and absorb or hide behind for deflecting cover. (Important detail: the pillar has collision, so it’s great at blocking incoming attacks!)
I’m sure the spirit is fine, it…maybe doesn’t feel pain?
Absorbing the spirit is where things get a bit more complicated: see, the spirit rotates through three different colors in order—red, yellow, and blue—and which ability Misango obtains from the spirit depends on what color the spirit is at the time it’s absorbed.
If Misango absorbs the red spirit, he’ll don a mask with a small set of horns, which gives him the ability to resist flinching like Mechanica or Master Mummy. If he absorbs while it’s blue, he’ll get a mask with some wings, which gives him better mobility. And this one’s my favorite: if he absorbs the yellow spirit, he gets this spiky-looking mask and the ability to automatically block all incoming blows for a short period of time upon activating his rush combo (yeah, it’s hecka buff.)
*Note that any charged ARM will still knock him down and thereby remove the spirit buff, though.
Moving onto his ARMS:
Aww, look at those happiness bubbles!
Scorpio: The Scorpio is a cute little poison-injecting arachnid that will crawl on the ground, hop when it reaches its target, and stab them with PURPLE LOVE!!! What’s even better is if you use it in the air, it transforms into a fast-moving disc that can fly in a straight or wide arc, making it really hard to stop! I’m not the biggest fan of anything from the arachnid family, but man, do I love this thing!
*Note that poison damage can stack over time. The first time a target is hit with poison, it’ll take off about 1 point of health per second, but hit the opponent with it twice more and you can inflict up to 3 points per second. The poison itself doesn’t last forever, so it’s probably a good idea to mix-and-match the timings of tossing a charged Scorpio on the ground and from the air to get at least one hit to connect often throughout the course of a match.
I also wonder what these taste like….
Glusher: This is a heavy ARM that’s imbued with poison as well. Much like the Blorb, this one bounces once or twice before nailing your opponent. If you arc your punches correctly, Glushers can sail over ARMS that travel in a direct line. The arc is also very useful for tossing ARMS over everyday objects…like Limos.
What’s that thing inside its mouth? On second thought, don’t tell me.
Skully: One of the fastest ARMS in the game…which also has the ability to poison! These ARMS are great at getting an attack right in an opponent’s face as soon as possible. However, their light nature means that if a multi-shot Tribolt or Retorcher were to be fired and collide with a Skully, the other two shots of the Tribolt or Retorcher would continue to sail toward your grill. So, use it to pester and interrupt, but don’t count on it winning in a head-on ARMS collision!
“I feel the need for speed.” *high-five*
Playing as Misango: Set up your spirits as fast as possible! Depending on your opponent, different approaches may be needed. Some of you will find success with setting up your defense first by placing your spirit and using it as a shield, then carefully picking your times to attack. Others may find success in full “Rush-down” mode, getting right in your opponent’s kitchen and constantly attacking. No matter which way you decide to go, try different combinations of ARMS and defensive/aggressive playstyles, and find out what’s most effective against your opponent and their ARMS selection.
Playing against Misango: Know which spirit the opponent likes to use and try to be pro-active in countering their selection. In other words, don’t let him set up his spirits! If Misango sets up, knock him down so he loses the spirit. If the opponent can’t set up their strategy and line up the right spirit at the right time, it’ll be easier to get them into more disadvantageous positions where they either won’t have a spirit for support or where they’ll have the wrong spirit up for the situation.
I think I made him angry.
With all that being said, Misango will likely take some time to get used to and either way, don’t feel bad about crushing his spirit—it’s a medium-high difficulty curve. The most dangerous players to use Misango will be the ones who can alternate often between attacking and defending with the spirit and without hesitation. Remember, if something works against your opponent, keep doing it until they figure it out … Don’t give me that look, it’s a fair strategy! (Real talk, though—nothing is “cheap.”)
I’m sure you all will find even more high-level tech than I have, but I hope this gives you a good starting point with Misango.
Oh, and one more thing—do some of those markings in his stage look weirdly similar to another ARMS character, or is it just me?
—JC R.

Hey Misango! May I ask where you spirit buddy comes from and if they have a name?
“Hm!” Casting a glance to said spirit, Misango rolled back his shoulders as if he were going to tell a story–
But decided against it. He wasn’t sure if he would be able to translate to English for so long. He would keep it brief (But the writer would not).
“The spirit is… a little bit of The Misanga, my people’s deity. It’s a snake-like creature made of… hm… weaved and beaded cloth. I suppose it can be called ‘The Misanga’, but people call it ‘The Spirit’ instead.”
In the past, it is said that other spirits like Misango’s were created by The Misanga tearing-off the end of it’s eternally-growing tail. The spirits are then given to a descendant at birth (If there are multiple, the one most likely to become a warrior or fighter obtains a spirit), and die alongside them.
The Misanga itself hasn’t been observed in hundreds of generations, but the spirits keep mysteriously appearing, and the story remains the most reliable explanation for them.
In records, the only time The Misanga allegedly spoke was when it stated it’s reasoning behind giving a warrior a piece of itself. It said:
‘[I give unto your fighters a blessing of my protection, and a blessing of strength and speed. Living eternally, I grow bored, and so I seek to watch your human conflict. Growing eternally, I become large, and if I do not dispose of myself, I will occupy all of the space in the universe. So heed my gift with respect and forget not your physical prowess for eons to come.]’
#Anonymous#✾ ~ 'Let me think on that...' (Asks)#✾ ~ 'To show the world my colours!' (Main Verse)#✾ ~ 'Our stories are what make us!' (Headcanons)

Uninvited
“Oh, Misango!” Twintelle laughed. She sat beside the fighter, wine in hand, buzzed and joyous. Twintelle saw his power firsthand in the ring earlier that day. She was fascinated by his use of his spirit familiar, and the power changes he used during battle. So, she invited him over for the evening. He wasn’t one to refuse.
“My people were quite the artisans. They made high quality wines with sweet aftertastes. I could always bring you some,” Misango said.
“That sounds absolutely lovely. I do love a full-bodied wine,” Twintelle said.
Kid Cobra could hear voices coming from the inside of the apartment. He grimaced, pressing in Twintelle’s passcode and walking in. His eyes widened as he watched Misango flirt with Twintelle. She didn’t even bother to look back at him.
“Welcome, Cobra. I presume your day was good?” She said. Kid Cobra didn’t respond.
“Ah, does he live here with you?” Misango asked.
“No, he comes by once in a while to say hello and take showers after he’s... fraternized.”
Kid Cobra glanced at the two, seething where he stood.
“Do you need something? I was hoping I’d be alone, as I do have a guest over,” Twintelle said.
“I’ll be out of your hair, chill it,” Kid Cobra responded. “Nice to see you, Misango.”
“You too, Kid Cobra.”
“For your convenience, I suggest you put some perfume on before you go. You smell like hemp again,” Twintelle said. She murmured something to Misango about his unsavory habits.
“I actually brought you a gift, Twintelle. My people are growers, and, well, I rolled you a fragrant joint. Rose and lavender infused. I wasn’t too sure if you smoked, but I figured it was worth a try,” Misango said.
Kid Cobra hissed under his mask. He retreated to Twintelle’s room and snatched her favorite perfume, covering himself in it and then putting it in his bag. She didn’t deserve to see that ever again.
“Misango! Oh, it smells lovely. Let’s spark it outside, it’s a nice night,” she said.
Kid Cobra sat on her bed, brooding in anger as he watched Twintelle get swooned by the other warrior. What did Misango have that he didn’t? Besides the nice-smelling joint, of course. He was also over a decade older, more mature, probably a better fighter — no wonder she chose him. He sighed as he glanced toward the balcony. Twintelle glowed in the moonlight. Maybe it was time to let her go.
He slung his bag over his shoulder and stopped over one of the counters. It was a nicely-rolled blunt, with Misango’s insignia stamped on the paper. Kid Cobra looked up toward the window and met eyes with Misango. He nodded towards the blunt on the counter, signaling for him to take it. Kid Cobra was happily surprised. He shoved it in his bag and walked out of the apartment, waving goodbye to Misango.
He leaned against the door of the apartment, heartbroken. I mean, he had no reason to be jealous — Twintelle was by no means dating him. But he wanted to be with her, wanted to be special to her, wanted her in every way.
He grabbed his phone and texted Spring Man, ‘you busy? got a blunt on me’
He got a quick response. ‘meet me by the lake. jara’s with me’
Kid Cobra relaxed. He didn’t need Twintelle.

Each character has a unique gimmick to:
Springman gets a permanent boost when his health depletes to just a quarter left & can parry while moving.
Ribbon Girl has 4 jumps and can do a very quick, quick drop
Ninjara can teleport himself and can do it while being attacked in shield.
Master Mummy can heal while blocking and takes hits without flinching.
Min Min can do an attack while dodging and one of her arms can power up and turn into a dragon.
Mechanica can fly that's about it and has unflinching.
Twintelle can slow down incoming attacks.
Byte & Barq are a tag team fighter. Byte can jump off of Barq for a boost. And Barq also provides cover and assistance for Byte.
Kid Cobra he's fast a fuck boi
Helix can stretch out his body and become more evasive.
Max Brass can beef up his body so he doesn't flinch from attacks. And he has a permanent boost similar to Springman's
Lola Pop can move whilst blocking and block in mid air by inflatingherself and bouncing around.
Misango has a spirit that he wears as masks the red mask makes him withstand hits and increases his damage at a cost for speed. The blue mask makes him faster but weaker. And the yellow mask increases the speed at which he can use his special attack.
Springtron can deflect attacks like Springman. But can also completely render enemies useful by emitting a powerful blast of energy
Dr Coyle can make an extra arm appear on her shoulder & can turn invisible temporarily when knocked down.
_____
If I were to say which I felt had the most unique ability I'd say Misango.
Alice: So which ARMS fighter do you think is gonna be in Smash if you've played it and if you don't mind me asking?
Didn’t play ARMS, sorry.
