A/n: working the 6 days before Christmas in retail is not for the weak I swear đŸ„Č I’m sorry for not being active but I should be back now my hours at work are going back down
Sorry it’s quite short!
-
The pub was buzzing with life, laughter, and music spilling out through the slightly cracked door. Inside, your friends were chatting away, entirely immersed in their conversation. But you couldn’t focus tonight, not with the weight of the day sitting squarely on your shoulders. So here you were, standing just outside in the crisp evening air, your coat pulled tight against the chill. A cigarette dangled from your fingers, glowing faintly in the dim light of the streetlamp. You took a slow drag, trying to let the nicotine calm the storm brewing in your head.
“You alright there, love?” The voice came from a few feet away, startling you slightly. You turned your head and immediately froze. It was him. Louis Tomlinson, standing casually with his hands tucked into the pockets of his coat. His blue eyes held a hint of concern, his head tilted just enough to make it clear he was genuinely asking. You blinked, unsure what to say. “Uh
 yeah, I’m fine. Just needed a breather” you said while pointing to behind you to the pub. He nodded slowly, his gaze flickering to your cigarette. “Mind if I join you?”. “Sure” you said, your voice coming out more casual than you felt.
Louis stepped closer, pulling out his own pack and lighting up with practiced ease. He leaned against the wall beside you, his movements relaxed but deliberate. For a moment, the two of you smoked in silence, the sound of distant chatter filling the space between. “Long day?” he asked finally, breaking the quiet. You exhaled a puff of smoke, glancing sideways at him. “You could say that”. He chuckled softly. “I could tell. You’ve got that look about you”. “What look?”. “You know” he said, gesturing vaguely with his cigarette. “The ‘I’d rather be anywhere else right now’ look”.
A laugh escaped you before you could stop it, and Louis’s lips curved into a small smile. “Am I wrong?” he asked. “No” you admitted, shaking your head. “You’ve got me there”. He gave a small hum of acknowledgment, taking another drag. “Well, at least you’re out here. Better than bottling it all up, yeah?” You nodded, glancing down at your shoes. “What about you? Why are you out here instead of inside with your mates?”
Louis grinned. “Maybe I just had a feeling someone out here could use some company”. The sincerity in his tone caught you off guard, and for the first time that evening, you felt the tension in your chest ease ever so slightly.
Over the next half hour, the two of you chatted about everything and nothing. Louis had a way of drawing you out, his playful banter balancing perfectly with his moments of genuine interest. You found yourself laughing at his quick wit, forgetting for a while why you’d even needed to escape in the first place. When you finally stubbed out your long gone cigarette, Louis did the same, turning to you with a curious look. “So” he said, “you heading back inside?” You hesitated, unsure if you were ready to dive back into the noise and energy of the pub. Louis seemed to pick up on your hesitation, because he added, “Or we could stay out here a bit longer. No pressure”. You smiled, grateful for his understanding. “Let’s stay. It’s quieter”. “Good choice” he said, his eyes twinkling.
That night turned out to be the beginning of something neither of you could have predicted. Over the weeks that followed, you and Louis kept in touch. He started texting you casually little jokes, updates about his day, or random thoughts that made you laugh out loud. Before you knew it, those texts turned into phone calls, and those phone calls turned into plans to meet up. At first, it was just friendly, grabbing coffee, taking a walk in the park, sharing another cigarette outside a different pub. But with each meeting, you couldn’t help but notice the way Louis looked at you when he thought you weren’t paying attention, or the way his voice softened just slightly when he said your name. You hoped that you weren’t imagining these things and that maybe in the not so distant future he might act on whatever it is he’s feeling. Looking back you were now more grateful for the bad day you had, never imagining that it could have lead you to something so special in the future.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Late December, 2005
Alberta, Canada
Logan walked down the street; hands shoved in his pockets. Try as he did, he couldn't call on a coherent thought. All he could manage were flashes of faces, gunshots, a man screaming...it sounded like him. He didn't like it.
Jean's visage, always the reliable go-to, conjured in his mind's eye. Her red hair pulled into a twist, showing off the sharp angles of her face. Damn, he missed that face. He missed how, despite his incessant flirting, patient eyes always stared back at him, even as he annoyed her from the exam table their first meeting. Patient even while telling him how much she didn't want him; how much she loved Scott. His chest ached. It was faint, but just enough to break through the newfound silence. It was something constant, something concrete.
Crossing the street, he ran into the nearest liquor store, slowing to a stop as he located the whiskeys. He stared, trying to check the alcohol content, the prices, the warnings, but nothing registered. It felt like someone set his brain to factory reset. No matter how he tried, blinking away the blurry vision, he couldn't help but feel like a stranger in his body. Every now and then he would see things, hear voices; a man's loving eyes, the smell of saltwater, the laugh of a boy...a woman's voice. There were no words. But, he found that if he closed his eyes he could hear the cadence. A blurry figure just barely came into view-
"Hey, buddy." A man's voice jolted him from his thoughts. He looked to the aisle's end to see what he assumed was the store clerk, some older heavy-set guy with a short, white beard. "We close in fifteen."
All Logan did was nod before the clerk walked away. Checking the shelf again, he grabbed a bottle of with a big "LTD" across the label and made his way to the checkout desk. He watched as the clerk rang him up.
"So, where ya from?"
Logan looked up to meet his eyes. "Around," was all he could muster. He watched the number appear on the cash register with more focus than was probably required before digging into his jacket for his wallet.
"Careful with that. Strong stuff." The clerk took the money before Logan reached to grab the bottle. "It's a nice jacket ya got there. Used to have one just like it when I was yer age," the clerk said, catching Logan's attention. "My buddy used to have one just like it in '64." He sounded bitter when he said it. Must be a painful memory.
Logan smirked as he glanced down at it. "Yeah um...an old friend gave it to me." He wasn't sure why he said that. But, it felt more or less correct. It was with him when he came to that day, alone on the island. At the time, it smelled faintly of air freshener and sage. "Well, have a good one." He saluted the man with the bottle as he headed out.
"Stay safe, now, ya hear?"
~~
Logan walked into the hotel room and dropped the bottle down on the kitchen table with a loud thud before plopping onto the chair next to it. The curtains were wide open to the night sky, letting the moonlight stream in. Twisting the cap off, he brought the bottle to his lips. But, just before taking a sip, he stopped. He frowned, staring at the caramel-colored liquid inside.
When did his drinking become so habitual? When did it lose meaning? It worked great to functionally shut down all the baseless voices and torment in his head. Not to mention the hell Jean's death wreaked on his world. It just became routine. But, now it was quiet. Head empty, heart beating a steady pace — with nothing to silence, why bother?
Scooting his chair away from the table, Logan left the bottle and walked to the window. He pressed his arm to the glass, leaning his forehead against it, as he looked out to the street. What was different? Everything felt normal until...
He lifted his eyes to look up to the night sky. The moon was full. In his dazed state he saw her, just at the back of his mind: the girl from the bar.
He didn't plan to fuck anyone that night. It just happened. Despite the poorly hidden circles under her eyes, she seemed so confident and lively, and she drew him in like a damn siren, getting him to shove his instincts aside, somehow. But, the way she looked at him hadn't escaped his notice, almost like she knew something was wrong.
In the end, it didn't matter. He made the offer, and she took it. It was something to take his frustration out on, some sort of relief. Maybe it was a relief for her, too. But, ever the gentleman, he still kissed her after. Hell! Of course he did. She was too adorable, the way she looked up at him with that blissful smile. How could he not? But, when he did, it was like the world quieted. It was peaceful at first, her plush, gentle lips being all he noticed. It even made his heart pound a little. But, it all came crashing down when he saw a face, felt terror, heard the screams and sounds of canon fire, felt the blood on his skin. Then, as quickly as the visions came, they disappeared, leaving an eerie silence in their wake.
What did she do to him?
~~
The following morning bled into noon. Logan laid in bed staring at the ceiling, whiskey long abandoned on the table. All night and into the morning, things would come back in flashes. Some were familiar. Most weren't. Closing his eyes, he saw the faces of men in helmets, clearly doomed to die. He saw a man's freshly shaved face visiting a child's room. The room was old, probably from a few centuries ago. He saw a boy, maybe fourteen years old, with sharp canines and long nails smiling down at him. Then, there was the woman again. Her face and voice were still unclear. But, he saw her clothes. The cowboy boots paired with the white knit sweater were especially endearing, and he couldn't help smiling when he saw her surrounded by kids in front of a wooden building. Then, he saw the lab. He felt the agonizing pain of needles drilling into his skin, through the muscle, and down to the bone. The lab...the lab he recognized.
Alkali Lake.
He shot up out of bed with a newfound determination. Throwing his shoes on, he made his way to the motorbike, stolen from Scott...again, making sure to grab his jacket on the way out. He wasn't entirely sure where he was going. He just knew north. North would take him to where he needed to be.
~~
Vaguely remembering the coordinates Chuck had given him only a few years ago, he finally found it, just as the sun was setting, too. Stopping his bike by the road, he trudged his way through the trees and snow to where the lab once stood. The area was filled with water now.
He could still hear the rushing of water as the dam broke, the freezing cold coming to claim Stryker's life. A well-deserved death, even if he didn't know the full extent of the man’s horrors.
As he walked along the forest edge, making his way to the shore, he felt his heart clench.
He could still hear Jean's words to Scott. It was a simple goodbye. She hadn't even bothered to give Logan a glance as he screamed for Kurt to bring her back. Surely there had to have been another way. She deserved more, better. Not that it mattered, anymore.
He listened to the crunch of rocks under his boots as he watched the lake that, strangely, hadn't frozen over in the winter cold, not even a little. If anything, it was pretty lively. Small crabs skittered along in the shallows, and fish ran to deeper water as his shadow hovered over them.
A glint of light caught his eye. As if fate hadn't been enough of a cryptic asshole, there sat his old dog tags just out of reach of the water. He stopped in front of them and leant down to grab the broken chain, seeing the engravings on the metal.
Wolverine. Logan. Number 45825243 T78 A.
He lifted them to eye level and furrowed his brow as he examined the second of the two. He always wondered why it said "Wolverine". As far as he knew, he was only ever "Weapon X" to Stryker. In the brief times they did interact, it never occurred to him to ask.
'Wolverine.' He repeated the word in his mind over and over. 'Wolverine. Wolverine.' Slowly, his inner voice morphed from its lower octave to something less gruff, something more feminine. 'The Wolverine.' He heard it clear as day.
"Que Qu'atsu," said a playful woman's voice. "It means 'The Wolverine'."
His breath caught in his throat as it all came back.
He saw the blue eyes of his father looked him over as his fever broke. His friend, an older boy named Victor, sat in the chair with jealous eyes. Downstairs he heard a man screaming for his mother's name. There was blood everywhere, and his heart sank when the light left his father's eyes. His claws, made of bone at the time, sunk into the abdomen of the man who put the bullet in his father's chest, the man that claimed to be his real father. The eyes of his mother, his first taste of pure disgust for what he was, burned into him. It sank in that day just how unwanted he was.
He remembered the wars. All of them. Each one, worse than the last, sent shivers down his spine, tearing him to bits. Young boys, so many still in school, carted away year after year like pigs for the slaughter. And, he was helpless to save them.
Vividly, he watched himself exiting a plane, no one sure how he survived the nuclear disaster of Nagasaki. His heart ached as he remembered Victor waiting at the gate with open arms and, animalistic as always, pressed his forehead to Logan's like a wolf would its pack member, more than ready to share a drink with his little brother. The little brother he swore to protect.
Then, Vietnam. And, Stryker, the one who made him the weapon he is now. He couldn't fucking stand that man. Logan was never good with authority, disobeying at every turn, thinking he knew best. But, Stryker
so ready to destroy, it was vile. He couldn't watch it, couldn't be a part of it. Not anymore. So, he walked away, ignoring the calls for him to come back. He wasn't an animal like them. He never would be.
Kayla taught him that. Her voice rang loud in his ears. "What you have is a gift." Despite his feelings, he wanted to badly to believe her. He felt the warmth of her hands on his chest, and the flutter in his stomach when she would fall asleep in his shirts. He saw her face clear as day, and her natural scent crept to the surface of his mind, washing over him like a summer breeze. Her face smiled at him from the car. Her eyes cut deep into his core every time she looked at him.
He loved her. God, did he love her.
The pebbles of the shore crunched under his knees, echoing in the surrounding area as his hands gripped at nothing. His eyes stung, head throbbing as he remembered the look of her body lying in the rubble of the island's facility. She looked so foreign to him, then, his damaged brain refusing to mend the pieces together. She deserved more. A proper burial. A proper send off. A proper fucking goodbye.
His throat began to burn. Black swarms of birds flew from the surrounding trees as he let out a desperate, guttural roar. His body felt so stiff, yet it seared like fire as he released his woes into the now vacated space, pain and devastation, long since locked away, now surfacing like boiling water with a vengeance. Catching his breath, his gaze shot up, vision tunneled to a small dot as his rage took over.
She was gone.
Kill. He needed to kill something. Someone. But, they were all gone. Victor having fallen from the Statue of Liberty and Stryker drowned and eaten away by fish. Well-deserved deaths? No. They were far too quick, too merciful than what those two deserved.
Despite this, he ran, claws unsheathed and teeth bared, punching at wood and snow, slicing up tree after tree, each falling down and leaving devastation in its wake. Any animal too slow to notice being unlucky enough to be trapped and crushed under them. He thought he saw flashes of black fur, something attacking him. His claws ripped through it with ease, serving well to protect him, but he barely noticed when there was only red in his sight and heat under his flesh.
She was gone forever.
He screamed, and slashed as animals in his path scattered, sky above darkening, illuminated only by the rising moon. Stryker was dead. Victor was dead. She was still gone. Nothing would bring her back. Nothing would fix the whole left in his chest. His body, suddenly heavy as led, fell. He buried his face in the snow as he yelled for her, yelled for Kayla. His Kayla. The only one to accept him for who he was. The only person in this god forsaken world to see him as something other than a fucking mindless monster, something human. He yelled for her to come back. Don't leave him here.
Exhausted he looked up to the moon. He could almost swear he saw her face in the light. Chest heaving and jacket falling from his shoulders, he wailed, nearly howling, at the blooming night sky above him. All he wanted was a normal fucking life. Was it too much to ask? Just a normal life away from the violence and chaos. Away from guilt. Away from destruction. Away from death.
She was gone.
She was dead.
He never even said goodbye.
Hi again! What do you have for 19 from the kiss prompt?
19. Kisses meant to distract the other person from what they were doing.
This prompt is getting answered with Nephele and Lucanis, and includes mentions of my other ocs. You don't really have to know anything about them for it to make sense. Also, this is a one-shot idea I've had for a minute, so it's kind of long. Please enjoy this soft silly fun.
Kiss Ask. Please send more!
The first thing Nephele noticed when she woke up was the crick in her neck, and the sharp jab in her side. Then the feel of a warm body, rising and falling slowly with breath. Also, a cold, hard surface. The floor? Then the sound of faint snoring, soft clanking of...something metal in the distance, and....eggs. That's what that smell was. It was eggs.
She definitely didn't want to open her eyes. Opening her eyes was the enemy. She also definitely didn't want to move. Moving was also the enemy.
Can you have two enemies? ... That's dumb, of course you can. You literally fight multiple enemies all the time. Get it together.
She made a minimal effort to roll over. Nope, pain, bad. Nausea? Unclear. She then tried to curl her legs up (it's fucking freezing in here) but she hit something solid instead.
There was a movement next to her, and the pressure in her side intensified. Reluctantly, she slowly opened one eye, just enough to figure out what was stabbing her.
The first thing to catch her attention was an unruly mop of blonde hair. Aleksei. Why was Aleksei here? She opened her eye a little more for more context. Her friend was sprawled out across her legs, with his head on Brenna's stomach (oh hey, Brenna's here), and his feet on Konstantin's lap. Konstantin.....she opened her eye all the way and turned her head to see the rest of the Qunari, fully asleep sitting up, head tilted back and snoring. It took her a second to realize she was also sitting up, leaning in to his side.
Ohhhh. Right.
She fully opened her eyes now, and the jigsaw pieces of her memories of the night before started to take shape.
The pain in her side was Konstantin's elbow. On his other side, with her head on his lap was Nasreen, curled in to a tight ball. Elspeth was fully spooning Brenna, who had pulled a couch cushion on top of her face to block out light in the middle of the night. Craning her head up she saw Paloma on the couch, her arm draped over the side next to a bottle of wine that must have fallen over sometime in the night.
And next to that was another bottle of wine. And another. And look, there were some over there. And didn't we start by drinking beer anyway? And I definitely was doing shots of whiskey at some point. I definitely remember there being a drinking contest. Pretty sure Brenna won. Pretty sure Konstantin threw up.
But that was in the music room, and this was....definitely the kitchen. Yep, going with kitchen. When did we move to the kitchen?
"About twenty minutes after Emmrich threw you out of the library."
Oh shit. I said that part out loud.
Extremely reluctantly, Nephele started to extricate herself from the pile of hungover bodies. She tried to grab on to the couch to help pull herself up, but missed and grabbed Paloma's arm. She didn't seem to notice.
"Oh fuck me," she grunted, rising up to a standing position, briefly tripping over Aleksei who groaned in protest. She heard a small clatter in the kitchen, and looked over to see Lucanis swearing in Antivan under his breath and grabbing a towel to clean up something he had knocked over.
Careful not to step on any more companions, she tip toed over to the counter, and saw not just eggs, but a variety of baked goods, cut fruit, oatmeal, bacon, and blessedly, coffee.
"Oh thank the Maker," she said, reaching for the pot. Lucanis beat her to it and moved it to the other side of the stovetop.
"First, water. Then coffee," he said, not taking his eyes off of the frying pan.
Nephele glanced at his workspace, which was littered with three or four half empty cups.
"Hypocrite," she teased, before grabbing the carafe of water. Was that juice? When did we get juice? Wait, did this mad man juice all of those oranges this morning?
"I am not the one who drank enough alcohol to fill the canals of Treviso last night," Lucanis retorted, glancing up at her with a teasing smile.
Fuck me. He's gorgeous.
Nephele ran her fingers through her hair to tuck it behind her ear, just to get it out of the way, and definitely not to make sure it wasn't sticking up in some awful way.
"I'm sorry if we were loud. I didn't mean for it to get that out of hand. I just thought it would be nice for the Birds to get to know each other better. You know, now that we're all in one place. Most of us have never actually met before now."
Lucanis plated up some of the eggs on a platter before adding some diced peppers to the pan. The aroma quickly changed into something far spicier. Oh I'm going to be sick.
"It wasn't that bad. I think Emmrich was more concerned about setting a good example for Manfred than anything else," He looked at her again before adding, "Not that you're a bad example."
Nephele laughed. "Oh, but I'm certainly a bad influence," she replied coyly, noting the way Lucanis' grip tightened on the spatula. She took a sip of her water, looking up at him through her eyelashes to see him with that far away look in his eye he got when Spite was talking. She waited for just a second to see if he would snap out of it on his own (also, this water is amazing. I never want to stop drinking this water).
"Does he agree?"
"Hmm?" Lucanis said, snapping back to their conversation, and remembering to flip the eggs just in time before they burned.
"Does Spite think I'm a bad influence?"
Lucanis chuckled, "No. Although, I'm not sure if that is comforting seeing that he is after all, a demon."
Nephele inched almost imperceptibly closer. "And what about you?"
Lucanis paused before grabbing some of the spices on the counter and adding them to the pan. "No, I don't think you are a bad influence. I think you are a good friend."
A moan wafted over from behind the couch. Someone else was waking up and was also firmly against it.
"Yeah, I'm sure everyone will be thinking about what a great leader I am while they're nursing their headaches and trying not to puke in Arlathan forest."
Lucanis poured a cup of coffee and put it next to her, adding cream and two sugars. He remembered, she thought, her heart twisting tighter than her stomach.
"I think that you looked at your team and you saw two issues. One: that everyone is new and doesn't yet trust each other, which could be deadly once we are in the field. And two: that everyone has been through a lot of stress lately, and desperately needed to release some of that tension. So, you found a solution to kill two birds with one stone."
He nodded towards the couch and leaned against the counter, "I don't think anyone would have expected to see any of these people cuddling on the floor two days ago." He paused to think before adding, "Well, maybe Aleksei. That one isn't surprising."
Nephele laughed again, louder than before. "I've seen him try to hug the Caretaker."
"They're friend shaped," they heard Aleksei mumble, before being silenced by Paloma hitting him with a pillow.
Lucanis and Nephele both giggled, and Lucanis returned to his eggs. Nephele loved the sound of his laugh. It didn't happen nearly often enough. She had to keep working on that.
"So we came in here and fell asleep?" she said, desperate to keep the conversation going.
"Not exactly," He said, reaching for a handful of spinach before adding it to the pan to wilt, " You all stumbled in here at about one o'clock in the morning, and started going through the cupboards, I can only assume looking for snacks. There was a lot of shushing and giggling. I think someone broke a chair."
Nephele looked over at the dining table, where one of the chairs was on its side and missing a leg. The memory came back to her immediately.
Elspeth tried to stand on it to see if Paloma could give her a piggy back ride.
"Weird, wonder how that happened," Nephele said nonchalantly, putting her empty water glass down and picking up her well earned coffee. She took her first sip and moaned in contentment, not missing the self satisfied look on Lucanis' face as she did so. "Then we went to sleep?"
"No, then you started telling stories about traveling with Varric. I couldn't hear them exactly, but from what I could tell at least half of them had to be made up."
Nope, they were all true. Weird shit just happens to Varric. She made a note to bring him some of the coffee when they were done. That way he wouldn't have to come all the way down here.
"And then...." Lucanis trailed off and Nephele wasn't sure if he was choosing his words carefully, if Spite was talking, or both. "I'm pretty sure you played spin the bottle."
Oh the bottle didn't just get knocked over. Actually yeah, that sounds right. No, I definitely made out with Nasreen. Which might have been her first kiss. Oops.
Nephele's brain caught up to the conversation now that she had a little caffeine in her system. "So wait, we were in here talking for hours, and you were just...awake? In the pantry?"
"In my room," Lucanis corrected, somewhat defensively.
"In the pantry." Nephele stated, holding her ground. We could at least put a real bed in there.
Lucanis shrugged and plated up the next round of eggs, putting it on the opposite side of the counter. Which was definitely a coincidence, and not an indicator that he had noticed that the smell was bothering her.
"Lucanis," she said gently, "Why didn't you come out?" He didn't answer, starting a fresh round of eggs, this one with onions and tomatoes. Holy shit, is he making everyone eggs to order?
"Seriously," she tried again, "We would have loved to have you join us."
"I don't think that would be a good idea." He said flatly, pointedly not making eye contact with her. She furrowed her brow.
"What, because of the alcohol? We wouldn't have made you drink if you didn't want to. I get that you might not want to risk it, what with Spite and all...."
There was a long silence where the only sound was the sizzle of oil in the pan, and Konstantin's snoring. Seriously, his neck is going to be so fucked when he wakes up.
"I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable," he stated, keeping his eyes on the pan. "I know that not everyone is thrilled at the prospect of an abomination on the team. I don't want to crash the party."
Nephele frowned sadly and tilted her head to catch his eye. "So, instead, you listened to everyone else have a good time, and then made us individualized hangover breakfasts."
"They're not individualized," he scoffed.
She pointed to a plate to the left of the tray of warm blueberry scones. "Who's eggs are those?"
"Brenna's," he answered without thinking.
"Mhm. And why are those Brenna's eggs?"
"Because she's Ferelden," he said, glancing up at her sheepishly. "They have extra cheese."
"They have three types of cheese by the look of it. Which you grated this morning. Somewhere between juicing the oranges, chopping the vegetables, brewing the coffee-"
"I was going to brew the coffee regardless," Lucanis said, stirring the pan and adding a pinch of chives from Harding's garden. "It wasn't that much extra trouble."
"Uh huh." Nephele said, looking down the counter and across the table at the piles of food. "My point is, we don't just keep you around to make eggs and stab things. We could always find someone else to stab a cloud. I happen to be pretty good at stabbing things myself."
Lucanis scoffed, and Nephele shoved him playfully in the arm.
"I'm serious! Lucanis...we keep you around because we like you."
Lucanis looked up at her, his eyes filled with such a strong emotion that she wanted to cry for him. He opened his mouth as if to say something.
"HOLY FUCK MY BACK," Aleksei shouted, before being drowned out by several groans and at least two more pillows being flung in his direction.
Nephele laughed. "Breaks over," she muttered to Lucanis. He smiled and returned to his cooking. Nope, not so fast.
"Hey Lucanis."
"Hm?"
Nephele reached across the stove to grab the closed bottle of olive oil, as well as Lucanis' attention. She placed it on its side on the counter in front of her and gave it a light spin. Lucanis' eyes followed it as she put a finger out to stop it right as the stopper pointed in his direction. With a smile she leaned over, placed her other hand on his back, and kissed him softly on the cheek, lingering just a second too long to be friendly. Through his vest she could feel him take a sharp inhale and hold it.
Perfect.
"What smells like burning?" Paloma groggily asked from across the room.
They both looked down at the ruined eggs.
"Mierda."
1) The fall that was Pacha’s fault
You were never one to back down from a challenge, not when your pride was on the line. And presently, it was. It was an unfortunate mistake on your part when you’d been a little too cocky, bragging about your rock climbing skills, and as an even more unfortunate result, a friend of yours from the Scions of the Canopy had decided to dare you to climb an actual cliff near his village.
“I’ve got all the equipment,” Pacha had exclaimed. “If you’re really that good, then this should be no sweat.”
You’d narrowed your eyes at him. You couldn’t tell if his smile was mocking or not.
“No problem.”
But now, as you looked up and tried to find another edge to grasp at, you were wishing you had backed down. Seriously, this cliff was just a flat canvas of orange. What were you supposed to hold onto?
“Stupid Pacha,” you hissed to yourself as you reached for a bump in the cliff face. “Stupid cliff.”
Man, you wished you had a Geo vision. Then you could probably create some kind of ledge to rest on. Or maybe an Anemo one would be more useful. You could make yourself float to the top.
You were also never one to be afraid of heights, but as you glanced down, your heart jolted at the distance between you and the ground. Too high. Much, much too high. Your Pyro vision hung uselessly at your hip.
A second glance told you that Pacha was no longer anywhere to be found, and you cursed him under your breath.
“Okay, don’t panic. Just don’t panic and don’t fall,” you huffed. “Easy enough.”
Your palms were moist, your fingers were suddenly too smooth. And just when you risked a second to wipe your hand dry on your leg
.
.the other one slipped, and you were falling.
The organ in your chest seemed to stop. This is it, you thought, I’m dead. You were falling, and falling and falling, until suddenly, while your eyes were squeezed shut and your stomach was leaping like a wild Koholasaurus in water, you were flying.
It took you a second for your brain to orient itself, to realise that you weren’t in fact dead yet, but when it did, you felt an arm wrapped securely around your waist, so tight that it was almost painful. You peeled your eyelids open. In your limited view, your saviour was nothing more than a head of dark hair and a blur of green attire. The surrounding cliffs were reduced to blobs of colour as you were swung through the air, down then up, down then up, until your feet were once again on solid ground.
Your knees almost collapsed once you were, and both of your saviour’s arms moved to steady you. A blink. Two blinks. You waited for your breathing to return to normal, then your eyes flitted up to meet theirs.
A kaleidoscope of green and gold greeted you. Huh, pretty.
Your saviour let out a strangled sound, something between a choke and a grunt, and released you. Oh. Had you said that out loud?
“Uh, sorry,” you coughed awkwardly. You took a step back, fiddling with your fingers. “Thanks for saving me.”
With the bandana that was tied over his forehead, it was difficult to discern his emotions. He gave you a curt nod. “You should be more careful.”
A distant yell made both of your hands turn, and you saw the tiny figure of Pacha rapidly approaching and waving his hand at you. By the time he’d closed the distance, which to his credit only took about eight seconds (so he must have felt at least a little guilty about almost letting you die), the guy beside you had vanished.
“Are you okay?” Pacha exclaimed as he skidded to a stop in front of you. You nodded, and he let out a sigh of relief, before looking around curiously. “Was that Kinich?”
Tumblr media
2) The fall that was a Tepetlisaurus’ fault
The next time you met Kinich (‘Malipo’ Kinich, a Saurian Hunter who according to Pacha, was transactional, blunt and borderline reclusive), you were on the cliffs by the Children of the Echoes, picking Saurian Claw Succulents as a favour for a new friend of yours, a sweet young girl by the name of Kachina.
And maybe you shouldn’t have been crouching so close to the edge of a cliff, but how you were supposed to know that a Tepetlisaurus burrowing in the earth would come straight for your footing and uproot you, effectively tossing you off the side? Really, it wasn’t your fault! It was just some kind of ninja saurian.
This was only the second time you’d ever fallen off the side of a cliff, but for some reason, you were hardly surprised when the same person came to your rescue this time.
He looked at you blankly as you clutched at the succulent in your hand, eyes darting around to avoid prolonged eye contact. You were sure he probably had an eyebrow raised under his bandana.
“Do you make it a habit to throw yourself off every cliff you come across?”
You flinched. “Well, no.”
His arms crossed over his chest, and you couldn’t help the way your eyes were drawn to the tattoos exposed on his biceps. The teal suited him, you thought absently.
Your thoughts were interrupted by a screeching voice. “Well, what’s your problem, then!”
A flashing myriad of yellow and green flitted into the air. The creature that had popped up from behind Kinich was
 strange, to say the least. A strange, blocky thing. It looked strangely flat, like a hundred tiny, flat, square blocks. Were you going insane?
Kinich sent an annoyed glance towards the creature, before looking back at you to see that your mouth was now agape as you stared.
“Oh, right. You haven’t met Ajaw.”
“Oh,” you muttered, suddenly feeling fainter than you had when falling off the cliff, “so this is Ajaw.”
The blocky creature expanded around the middle (you supposed that was the equivalent of puffing out its chest). “Aha! So you’ve heard of the Almighty Dragonlord, K’uhul Ajaw, have you? Tell me, peasant, what have you been told? That I’m ferocious and powerful?”
Kinich sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. You blinked at the creature. You thought back to what Pacha had said – “Ajaw. He’s Kinich’s saurian companion. Really weird little guy. Super annoying.”
“Yeah,” you assented, “something like that.”
“Do you ever shut up?” Kinich sighed. It took you a second to realise that he wasn’t talking to you.
“Maybe you should shut up, Kinich!” Ajaw’s eyes angled themselves into a glare, and he fluttered around agitatedly.
The response he received was a flick of a gloved hand, which sent the Saurian soaring into the sky, until you couldn’t even see him anymore. You were pretty sure you’d never blinked as much in your life as you had in the last five minutes.
Kinich turned to you. “Sorry about him.”
“Um, that’s alright,” you said half-heartedly.
“So how come you’ve fallen off another cliff?”
Yikes. He must have thought you were either insanely insane or tremendously stupid.
“A Saurian knocked me off the side when I was picking succulents,” you muttered, cheeks flushing with heat.
He hummed. You weren’t quite sure what that meant. “And the other time?”
 “Um, my friend dared me to climb the cliff. So I did.” You winced. “But I swear, these are the only times I’ve ever fallen off a cliff.”
It was a sentence you never thought you’d have to say. How embarrassing. You waited for the inevitable scolding or mocking to fall upon your ears, but then—
“Alright,” Kinich nodded easily. “Maybe try to avoid cliffs from now on."
Then he turned around, and started walking away. The sudden departure made you recoil in shock. Was the conversation over? Pacha really wasn't exaggerating when he said Kinich was reclusive.
"Huh? Wait a second!" You weren't sure what came over you in that moment, but you had a startling feeling that you couldn't let him leave here.
He paused, and turned to look at you, head tilted slightly to the side.
"Um, hold on." You thought for a moment. How to make him stay for longer? "Are you free right now? I'd like to treat you to a meal, if possible. You know, to thank you."
Your hands clasped in front of you and you fiddled with your fingers.
Kinich blinked slowly for a moment and stared at you. For a horrible moment, you thought he was going to decline, in which case you would have had to turn tail and flee on the spot, but instead, he nodded.
"I have some time."
You brightened. "Great! I know this place that has the best tatacos!"
There was a light skip in your movements as you began to lead the way, trusting that he was following you. You could only hope he didn't eat too much. You weren't sure your pockets could afford it, and you'd hate to make an even bigger fool of yourself in front of him by being too broke to pay. What a horrible first impression...
“Oh, right!” you paused in your steps for a moment. “I forgot to introduce myself!”
And so you did, and you watched as something that almost looked like a smile twitched at Kinich’s lips. Then, as if testing the way it rolled on his tongue, he repeated your name carefully.
Something fluttered in your stomach as you beamed. Yeah, you sure liked the way that sounded.
Tumblr media
3) The fall that was the fault of a slippery rock
“No, guys, trust me. I just discovered it. It’s like, really underground.”
Kinich sighed as Mualani giggled at her own joke. As if on impulse, you laughed along with her, but you even as the sound escaped you, you couldn’t tell if it came from a place of pity or not. Underground, because it was literally in an underground cave. Hilarious. Still, a small smile made its way onto your face. This was nice. As much as you loved your other friends, it sure felt great to hang out with people who didn’t always challenge you to risk your life (fuck you, Pacha), though you suspected Mualani was just waiting for a chance to take you Spirit Wave riding, and you weren’t sure you were quite ready for that yet.
Today, however, you were spared. Mualani had promised you and Kinich a relaxing afternoon in a new hot spring she’d found. And so you were following her into an opening in the rock face.
The air was immediately a little cooler than it was outside as you stepped into the darkness. The cave was still illuminated by the sunlight, and you could see more patches of light ahead. It glowed slightly in the reflections of the rock on the ground.
“It’s a little steep here,” your friend warned. “Watch your step.”
No sooner had you nodded to show your understanding than you had placed your foot down on a particularly slippery patch on the floor, and it slid.
A gasp tore out of you, but two arms were already wrapping around you from behind.
“Be careful,” his voice murmured in your ear. You almost gasped again. How glad you were that he was behind you and thus couldn’t see the way you froze up at the feeling of his breath on your skin.
From a little ways ahead of you, Mualani called out. “Hey, you alright?”
Your throat suddenly felt very dry. You cleared it before telling her that you were.
Kinich kept one hand on your waist for the next few steps before removing it after you had found your footing. You found yourself missing his touch upon the removal.
No matter, you assured yourself. Focus on not falling over again. The decline of the slope eased out into a flatter path, and soon the tunnel opened up into an expansive area. The underground spring was much brighter than you had anticipated, thanks to the perfectly round opening at the top. Smooth, round rocks seemed to line the edge, and the water sparkled in the ripples as Mualani crouched down to test it with her hand.
“Oh no!” she exclaimed.
You turned your attention to her. “What is it?”
“It’s cold! It was really toasty last time, though,” she frowned. “It must be because it’s further away. The underground water flow can get unstable and–“
As she rambled on, you crouched by the side of the spring, dipping your hand into the water. It lukewarm at best, but the pool wasn’t as big as most of the one’s above ground. You could work with this. Placing both hands in the not-so-hot spring, the vision at your side pulsed with energy. You let the heat flow through your body to your fingertips, as steam floated just above the surface of the water.
You failed to notice the pair of eyes that were fixed on you as you smiled to yourself.
“Hey, Mualani? Is this better?” Mualani’s eyes widened as she watched the mist rising out of the hot spring.
“Yes, yes, yes!” She squealed. She rushed to your side, squeezing you in a hug, before drawing back immediately. “Ow, hot!”
The girl quickly submerged her arms in the water, sighing in relief. You couldn’t help the giggle that escaped.
You grinned at your friends, stepping into the water yourself. “Shall we swim?”
The pounding of your heart against your chest was hard to ignore when Kinich slid into the spring and settled right beside you.
Tumblr media
???) The fall that wasn’t even you
Kinich wasn’t sure what was wrong with him lately. He’d been sleeping the same, his regimented diet was unchanged, but in recent weeks, he’d found himself feeling a lot more strange.
Hunting commissions had been slow lately, so he’d taken the liberty of accepting ordinary bounties and commissions from the Adventurers’ Guild. When you’d heard about it, you’d insisted on joining him. He hadn’t had a problem with that, but since he started taking on these new commissions, Kinich had noticed that something was happening to his health.
He’d been spending a lot of time with you these days, but that couldn’t be it. How could that explain his borderline feverish symptoms? The heat that flushed his head and neck sometimes, and the weird way that his heart flipped, like it did when he went bungee jumping that one time.
And sure, those symptoms only happened when he was with you, but that was just because he was almost always with you. How could fighting a few treasure hoarders in your presence make him ill?
“Isn’t it obvious?” Ajaw growled. “You like them!”
Kinich was too surprised to scoff. “What?”
“You have a big fat crush.”
“No, I don’t.”
The little green dots in Ajaw’s eyes rolled around so hard, Kinich thought they might fall out.
“Fine! Don’t believe me, then! Even though you blush whenever you’re with them, and you stare at them when they’re talking, and you didn’t even complain when they wanted to join your commissions and you’ve been losing half the profit!”
Ajaw’s body doubled in size before he vanished in agitation. Kinich raised a hand to his chin in thought. He needed a second opinion.
Tumblr media
“You like them,” Mualani replied simply. “It’s pretty obvious.”
Kinich blanched. “Why does everyone keep saying that?”
“Because it is,” she grinned. “Dude, you’ve fallen hard.”
There was a twist in his stomach. The tips of his ears turned redder than a hot chili pepper.
“Come on, Kinich. You’re a smart guy. Think about the way they make you feel.”
Despite everything, despite the fact that he was, in fact, a smart guy, and he had always been sure to analyse and prepare for every outcome, and he was always weighing the costs of his relationships and seeing right through people and thinking way too much about everything—
—the realisation hit him like a tidal wave.
Oh.
Mualani grinned, satisfied. “I’ll leave you to your thoughts, then.”
Kinich barely registered her departure.
Because of course. Your relationship had never been transactional. All you ever did was give and give, and without even realising it, he’d poured his all into giving back without a moment’s hesitation. He’d never asked anything of you, nor you of him.
And because Kinich was a level-headed man, and ever-so-straightforward, there was no time wasted before he was at your front door.
If there was ever one thing he would ask of you, it was this.
“I like you, and I need to know if you feel the same.”
A grin found its home on your lips. A step forward and you closed some of the distance. The sparkle in your eyes did nothing to shake Kinich’s nerves, but it did make his stomach flip.
“Guess you’re the one falling for me now, huh?”
hooking up with best friend Jay at a sleepover đŸ€€
i love jay with the friends to lovers trope so much
***
The thing is, Jay’s always had a thing for you.
Sure, you were both ugly ducklings at the age of ten compared to now, but Jay has always harbored romantics feelings for you. The shy, timid girl he knew from childhood is confident in herself. He remembers when you were scared of the dark and he remembers when you broke up with your first boyfriend because he didn’t treat you right.
Oftentimes, Jay pushes his feelings for you well below the surface until he’s questioning whether he really liked you or not. When you dated Lee Heeseung for three months before you two mutually decided to part ways and remain friendly, Jay thought his feelings for you vanished for good. He and Heeseung got along so well that Jay wondered if he only felt that way towards you because everyone assumed he would end up with you.
Jay didn’t mind hearing about Heeseung that much. You didn’t talk about him around him that often. When you told him how Heeseung had bought tickets to your favorite band, Jay didn’t have it in him to diminish your happiness.
You let it slip once, while you were intoxicated, that Heeseung was the best fuck of your life thus far. Long cock, dirty mouth, and a wicked tongue. Jay tuned it out but what made him frustrated is beginning to picture what you’d look like underneath him and what you might sound like when you cum.
Even now, with you sitting next to him, does Jay wonder what you look like naked.
You’ve got a blanket wrapped around you as you sit on his couch and watch the movie you two agreed on. He can’t pay attention to it because of how good you smell and because he noticed your lap moving when the sex scene comes on.
From the corner of his eye, Jay watches the blanket shift. He sees you lick your lips and stare a little too intently at the screen before you. His heart hammers in his chest and he feels his dick start to swell when he imagines you clenching around it.
“Jesus, Y/N,” he says in lustful disbelief. “You wish that was you, huh?”
Your head snaps to him. “What?”
“I said, you wish that was you, huh?”
“No,” you say hastily, avoiding his eye.
“No?” Jay mocks. “You were grinding just now.”
“Why are you watching me and not the movie?”
“Because you look hot humping the air like that.”
You look at him and he swears your jaw would hang open like a cartoon if it could. He watches your lap twitch involuntarily and cocks his head to the side when you don’t say anything.
“I bet you’re wet too.” Jay shifts his body closer to hours.
“I’m not.” He doesn’t believe you.
“Is that right?” Jay puts his hands over the portion of the blank that’s covering your thighs. You gasp when he gives you a squeeze and sit with your breath caught in your throat. “Mind if I check?”
He nearly moans when you slowly nod. Your panties are wet to the touch like he thought. His fingers glide up and down your covered slit so easily that he swears he can hear it over the movie if he pays enough attention.
“Not wet, huh?” You shake your head. “You’re not horny?”
“N-No.”
Jay pushes your panties aside and sticks his finger inside of you. The sudden intrusion feels like a taste of Heaven with his warmth. Jay expertly pumps inside of you at a slow pace that has you clutching onto his arm for support.
“Oh, so you’re telling me your pussy’s not wet even though my hand is covered in you? C’mon, Y/N. You’re so horny you’d let your best friend finger your pussy.”
Jay adds another finger and speeds up his movements. The movie is long forgotten and his knuckles nudge your clit with every push and pull. You bite your lip to prevent loud moans from escaping you but he draws them out of your throat. Your body chases his hand, hips circling the air to gain more pleasure from his digits.
He’s never like this with you; Jay is the epitome of controlled and respectful. He walks with his body between you and the road and he opens doors for you. Jay is friendly with your parents and stays sober when you drink. He’s patient and calm in every way. Except right now.
Jay’s palm against your pussy feels incredible. Your legs are spread wide open with one on his lap and the other nearly off of the couch. He curls his digits and pulls a reckless moan out of you that makes him smirk and out his lips just by your ear.
“I wanna watch you cum.” Your eyes roll back into your head and your mouth hangs open because of how turned on you arm. You squeeze onto Jay’s arm and he laughs when you start to clench around him. “Thaaaat’s right. Clench against my fingers. Let me feel how tight your pussy is. God, she’s so wet.”
You’re sure your juices are splashing everywhere at the pace he’s hammering his fingers in and out of you. Jay curls them inside you one last time when you feel the dam break. He keeps his brutal pace to help you ride out your high. He doesn’t care that your nails are digging into his muscular arms. In fact, he wants to see the prints you leave him.
Your jaw hangs open when he sticks his fingers in your mouth to taste you. Jay doesn’t shy away from your eyes and instead pushes the blanket off of you until his fingers rub your folds again.
“I’m gonna fuck that little pussy of yours after I eat you out,” he says, rapidly pushing his hand back and forth over you.
Your meek ‘yes please’ is all he needs to hear. Jay pulls his fingers from your body and takes his hard cock out from his sweatpants. He stands over you and tugs on himself when he watches you toy with your clit.
“Hope you’re prepared to stay up all night, baby. I’ve gotta fuck you properly.”
“Hey Katsuki”, you scream from the your bedroom.
“What” he yells back at you from somewhere else in the house.
“Where ya at?”
“In the game room.”
So you get up and head that way. When you enter he’s sat in his gaming chair with his headset on.
“Hey bub
. Hey guys” you say loud enough to be heard through his headset.
“Yea yea. They all said hey.” You knew Kirishima and Kaminari were on the other end. Maybe even Mina too cuz she wasn’t texting you back.
“Kit-Kat, I’m getting hungry. Do you know what sounds really good for dinner?”
“What?” he questions without taking his eyes off the screen.
You walk behind him and slide your arms around his neck and nuzzle into the back of his head. You’re trying to butter him up because you know he’s not gonna wanna make what you’re craving.
“You remember those dumplings you made from scratch a while ago?” You ask with your voice dripping in as much sweetness you can muster.
“No.”
“No you don’t remember or no you’re-“
And he interrupt you before you can even finish. “No im not cooking that. There are frozen dumplings in the fridge.”
“But Sukiiiiii, those aren’t as good as the ones you make. The flavors aren’t the same and yours are so crispy and doughy. Pleaaasseee.”
“Hey you assholes shut the hell up. No ones talking to you.” He responds to his friends in the headset. “You want her to have ‘em, bring your ass over and make ‘em”
“I’m not doing this. You idiots hold on.” And he pauses the game and turns around to face you and removes his head set.
“Look we can order takeout if you want, but I’m not about to make freakin dumplings from scratch cuz you have a craving. I’d have to go to the store and get ingredients and taking the time to make the wrappings. ‘S too much.” He tries to explain to you in a rational way .
“I knooowww
. I’d go to the store with you though and I’ll help you make them
. Pretty please” you whine and stick you lowere lip out just a little with your eyes as pleading as you can make them.
Katsuki rolls his eyes and throws his head back.
“You don’t get whatever you want just because you pout at me. Spoiled ass. Not today. Maybe sometime later this week.”
You didn’t actually think he’d tell you no. He usually never does. Maybe you are spoiled. Still makes you sad though.
So you put on your big girl pants, tuck your lip back in and give him a soft “ok” before you lean down and press a soft kiss to his lips so he knows you’re not upset with him.
He is allowed to say no.
“Is Mina on the game with you guys?” You ask him when you pull back.
“Yeah she is.”
“When you get back on can you tell her to stop being a bitch and answer my phone call. I have tea to spill.”
“I’ll tell her.”
And with that you head toward the door and leave.
Once you’re back in your room it takes Mina about 3 minutes to call you and you start catching her up on everything.
You guys stay on the phone for about 30 minutes before she has to go.
After that, you bury yourself in the blankets and start reading the manga you had lying on your nightstand.
Before you can really get into it, Katsuki is walking into your room and going into the closet.
“Get your ass outta bed and get dressed before I change my goddamn mind.”
“What?” You ask because now you’re confused.
“You said you were gonna go to the store with me to buy all this shit so get your ass up and let’s go.”
“Kats you don’t have to, it’s fine.”
“Look ya spoiled brat, if I gotta tell you to get up one more time we are gonna be in here fightin.”
And the smile that breaks out on your face. You hurry and get outta bed and rush him. “Awwwww my sweet boy”
“I swear to god, I’m this close to letting your ass starve.”
And you wrap your arms around him and start kissing everywhere on his face. When you pulled away he has a deep frown on his face but you can see the sparkle in his eyes that he gets when you’re super happy.
You pull away and scurry off to get dressed.
He really needs to start saying no to you and meaning it before you really lose the understanding of the word.
Gojo x Reader
genre: fluff, crack? note: re-uploading this cus why not
Don't get me wrong, you love your boyfriend. You really do. But when he's in bed talking to his best friend on the phone while you're trying to sleep is just annoying. And that laugh that you're in love with sounds so obnoxious right now. You sigh out loud for the third time already so maybe he'll get a hint and either hang up, quiet down, or go to another room. However, he doesn't get it and you're so close to strangling him with his own blindfold
"Satoru?" You mumble so maybe he'll remember that he's not alone in the room.
"Yes, love?"
"I'm trying to sleep"
"Okay, I just need a minute, I swear"
Just a minute. You can wait for just a minute, right? Well, that "minute" was like 10 minutes ago, and at this point, as dramatic as it sounds, you were thinking of just dumping him and going home to sleep because no one interrupts your sleep like this.
Having enough of his annoying ass you tried to sit up and show him that he's not that "honored one" against sleep deprived you. However, you realized that was a mistake because a loud bump your head made against the headboard followed by an "ouch" made Gojo turn his head so fast towards you that it almost gave him a whiplash.
"Suguru, I'll call you later" muttered Satoru whose eyes were still wide
"Oh, so I must get at least a concussion just so you hang up"
What made you furious is that even though he was checking if you were alright he couldn't help but start laughing at you. And no, it wasn't just a small chuckle and yes, it made him tear up.
"Glad you find it funny" You grumble laying back down and turning away.
"C'mon now," he said through laughter while reaching for you "I can't help it, sorry"
"Fuck off" you struggled against him as he wrapped his arm around you from behind. He was much stronger though, so you just gave up and accepted your fate, but still standing your ground and not turning to face him.
"Are you okay? Does your head hurt?" He asked kissing your head and the sweet gesture was tempting enough to turn you to face him.
"It does, actually"
"Awh, my poor baby" Satoru started to rub your head but you slapped his hand away when you saw his lips twitch as he was trying his best to hold his laughter. He realized you noticed it and that was all it took to make him laugh again.
"Asshole" Slapping his chest you tried to turn away again but he wrapped you in his arms and held you to his chest. You could feel his body shaking from laughter.
"I'm sorry" he kissed your head.
"You're still laughing"
"I'm still sorry"
Rolling your eyes you waited for him to calm down. Which didn't take long, surprisingly.
"Satoru"
He hummed, his fingers brushing through your hair.
"If you interrupt my sleep like this again... I'll break up with you"
He gasped dramatically and before he could say anything you beat him to it:
"Oh, shut up! Like you wouldn't replace me with Geto right away"
He gasped again before moving his face away to look at you better.
"How dare you doubt my love for you?"
"Sleep, you drama queen" You chuckled at him and he got back into his previous position.
"I'm not gay tho..."
You scoff
"What was that?" You could feel him scrunching his face up and couldn't help but smile at how cute it was.
"Nothing, love"
"No, you just scoffed, what the fuck?"
"Satoru, sleep or I swear to god what I'll do to you will put that Zenin guy to shame"
"I already did that"
"Satoru!"
"Okay, okay jesus. So aggresive"
You pinch him
"Ouch! Alright" he laid on his back and pulled you to his chest "Good night, darling"
Kissing his chest you mumble "good night" and for his sake, he was silent after that.
Midnight Antics
Sylus x Reader
Tumblr media
Luke and Kieran swallowed hard, their nerves frayed as they faced their boss’s anger. The stern look in Sylus’s eyes was a clear sign of his disappointment, and the tension in the air was almost palpable. Although they were partly responsible for letting you go out with your friends, their main concern was the lateness of the hour. It was already midnight, and you still hadn't returned. Their anxiety had mounted with each unanswered call, making the waiting seem endless. When Sylus came down the stairs, his stern expression only heightened their dread.
Suddenly, the main door burst open with a loud crash. “Sylus!” You stumbled into the house, your movements unsteady as you clung to him. Your disheveled appearance and slurred speech made it evident you were quite drunk. Luke and Kieran let out a collective sigh of relief, their tension easing as they saw you finally home safe. "I miss you” you mumbled, your voice thick with intoxication. Sylus, trying to maintain his composure, gently but firmly grabbed your chin to make you look at him. "Where have you been?" he asked, his voice a mix of concern and frustration. Your gaze was unfocused as you struggled to respond. “I
 hmm
 went out with my friends” you replied with a giggly hiccup. Sylus’s irritation deepened. “And you didn’t even bother to let me know?” His tone was sharp, and his grip tightened slightly. “Ouch!” you exclaimed, pulling his hand away with a wince. “I told Luke and Kieran about it and thought you weren’t coming home tonight” you added, your laughter fading into another hiccup. Sylus lifted you into his arms and carried you to your room.
He threw you on the bed, and you swayed slightly, trying to steady yourself. “I need to change” you said, your voice slightly slurred. As you struggled to change out of your party clothes and into something more comfortable, Sylus watched with a mix of exasperation and concern. Your attempts were clumsy and slow, revealing just how drunk you were. After you managed to change, you stood on the bed, trying to balance as you almost reached Sylus's height. The sight of you struggling to stay upright while trying to look him in the eye softened his irritation. You started pinching both of his cheeks with a playful grin. “Come on, don’t be mad.” you laughed, though your laughter was somewhat incoherent. “You’ve surely had a lot to drink, huh?” Sylus tried to hold your hands to stop you from pinching his cheeks. “Sleep now. We’ll talk tomorrow.” he said in a cold tone.
As he walked to the door to leave, he heard the soft sound of crying. He turned around and saw you lying on the bed, tears streaming down your face. Your sobs were muffled, and Sylus felt a pang of guilt. He sighed deeply and approached you. “Why are you crying?” he asked, his voice softer now. “You’re mad and you don’t love me anymore.” your voice breaking with emotion. Sylus looked puzzled, but then his lips curved into a faint smile. He sat down beside you, his earlier frustration wearing away. “I’m not mad. Just don’t do it again.” he said, gently patting your back. “Really?” you asked, looking up at him with hopeful eyes. “Yeah, now go to sleep.” he reassured you. You suddenly threw yourself at him in a tight hug, nearly making him lose his balance. As you clung to him, Sylus found your state and the way you misinterpreted his feelings both warm and cute.
He was about to say something but was cut off by your playful pinching of his cheeks once more. Sylus managed to disentangle himself from your embrace with a tired smile. Despite the late hour and his earlier frustration, he found your antics charming. “Alright, enough.” he said with a small affectionate smile. “I’m going to my office for a bit. We’ll talk things through in the morning. Go to sleep now, kitten. I love you, okay?” as he kissed your forehead.
He settled you back into the bed, your crying subsiding as you relaxed into the blankets. “Goodnight, Sylus. I love you too.” you murmured, your voice now soft and content. Sylus left the room and headed back to his office, feeling a mix of relief and lingering fondness.
Mattheo Riddle
“Add Ashwinder egg to a cauldron, then add horseradish and heat” Mattheo’s voice sounded strained as your head bobbed down on his cock. The sound of your gagging muffled his words so you pulled away as he groaned.
“What kind of egg?” Your eyebrow raised as he tried to grab your hair and pull you back. You smack his hand as he gives you a desperate look.
“Ashwinder
baby please” he mutters and you lick the head flicking your tongue over it.
“What’s next?” You asked as your tongue moves down the length.
“Anemone?” Mattheo asks as he grabs the bedsheets, his head falls back as he groans. You sit straight up and he panics. “Thyme? Occamy?” He grabs your wrist trying to pull you back, he’s aching and he bites your lip. Your head is shaking as you hop off, “Rue!? IS IT FUCKING RUE!?” He calls after you but you’re already walking towards his door giving him a devilish smirk.
“You really should study” you tease leaving him panting helplessly on the bed as he reaches for his potions textbook to find the recipe for Felix Felicis hoping he could still get lucky.
Tumblr media
Theodore Nott
Your thighs burned, it was quite a workout. Theo’s head was thudding on the headboard as your rocked your hips back and forth on him. Your ministrations were slow and teasing. His knitted brow, mouth hanging slack as another low groan escaped his lips was worth how absolutely spent you were.
Just when you felt his legs begin to tighten you pulled away giving him a little slap on the cheek.
“Ah fuck” he muttered his eyes nearly rolling back as you ripped another climax away from him. He licked his lips as he looked at you half lidded, “No more teasing, let me fill you up” he muttered in his low voice.
“No” you said haughtily, “why don’t you ask Astoria to?”. Your cheeks were flushed with defiance. You caught them talking, no flirting in the common room.
“I don’t want her baby, I only want you bella” he said in nearly a whiny voice that made you grin.
You sunk back down on his aching, rigid cock as his lips let out another moan.
“Then say my name, and maybe I’ll let you come” you say and snap your hips forward to see if you can chase your own high before you take away his.
Lorenzo Berkshire
Enzo is flattered, tickled even when you tell him you want him to edge you. What the hell were you thinking? This boy researched. For hours. Reading articles, watching porn, asking his friends.
Your legs are tied to his bedposts, Enzo lays between them observing your impossibly wet pussy. It’s been nearly an hour, your back arches as you desperately seek out a means to an end. His fingers swirl around your swollen clit, eliciting a loud moan from you.
Enzo chuckles and dips two fingers into your cunt, listening to how loudly you cry out from barely any movement. The past hour he has edged you so badly, you nearly begin to beg when he pulls away again.
He ghosts his finger over your sensitive bundle of nerves and you come. Hard. You clench around nothing as your body finally gives in at the faintest touch.
“Holy shit,” Enzo says in a low voice. He didn’t mean for you to finish so soon, although just the sight of you letting go is enough to make him want more.
“Let’s do that again” he says.
Tumblr media
Draco Malfoy
“Don’t be so impatient love,” Draco whispers as he slides his cock over your aching pussy.
“Once
Draco I said it ONCE,” you whine and your eyes roll back as you bite your bottom lip. Earlier in the day he had tried to pull you away from a conversation with Enzo. You made the mistake of rolling your eyes and telling him to “stop being impatient”.
You try and grind yourself up to meet him but he is quick to shove your hips down and onto the bed as he tuts.
“Baby please” you plead as he brushes a strand of hair out of your face.
“So needy for me pretty girl,” he says and shoves himself forward making you gasp. A few strokes and he’s gone again leaving you nearly clawing at his back for more.
Tumblr media
Blaise Zabini
It was time for revenge. After he made you fall apart in the Great Hall you knew you had to get your boyfriend back. It was Friday night and another party in the Slytherin common room was in full swing.
You had on a short, black bodycon dress, no panties. There was work to be done. When you spotted your boyfriend he was laughing with Draco, already a few drinks down.
“I need you baby
now,” you muttered in his ear. He stood nearly immediately and began to lead you to his dorm. You shake your head and pull him down the hall, the sight of the broom closet makes him even more excited. Nothing gets him going like the taboo.
He’s ravaging your lips, neck, chest. When his hands reach your thighs and he realizes you aren’t wearing panties he groans loudly. You hitch your leg up on his waist as he fumbled with his belt. The two of you combined feverishly, he pushes into you with eager strokes.
It’s not long until you hear his breath hitch and you pull away so quickly he is breathless with confusion. You pull away with a wink and open the door, he scrambles to cover himself.
“What am I supposed to do with this?” He asked loudly.
“Save it for later I guess” you call back grinning.
Tumblr media
Tom Riddle
“You think,” Tom snapped forward making your hips bite into the desk, “you’re so damn
.” He pulled your hair making you flush to his chest, “funny”.
To be fair it was funny. Tom was in the common room, talking to Mattheo and Draco when you sauntered over. You sat on his lap, your lips moving to his ear, “I’m so wet right now,” you mumbled to Mr. No PDA. Tom’s eyes widened as Draco and Mattheo smirked at you straddling his lap.
He dragged you to his room shortly after, immediately bending you over his desk. His hands yanking your panties to the side as he pushed into you at a punishing pace. You weren’t mad about it, in fact it’s what you wanted.
“I am funny,” you tease defiantly. He pulls away turning you to face him. His eyes are pure rage, the quiet kind that actually makes you nervous. Tom lifts you onto the desk, he spread your legs and dropped to his knees, surprising you.
Under a vicelike grip on your thighs, he flutters his tongue softly, almost delicately. Tom does not usually go down on you, even though he is absolutely phenomenal at it. Within minutes you’re trembling, eyes rolling back so close to your orgasm you can nearly taste it.
Then he pulls away, wiping his mouth as he observes at your shocked face. Before you can protest he grins.
“See, I can be funny too”.
“All I’m saying, you could’ve been a little nicer,” You turned to Morgan with a rigid sigh. If he didn’t know you better, it’d probably sound like you were deeply annoyed with him, on the verge of cursing him out. He knew you were only regarding the events of today's case.
“I think you’re mixing ‘being nicer’ with tough love,” You deadpanned at your friend, earning nothing but his signature snicker.
You shook your head, feigning that of disappointment. You rolled your shoulder back, craning your neck slightly to scan the files that rested between your fingers. God, how many files could one see in a day?
It was a few hours past midday when the case came to an end. Hotch had a sudden dilemma that he needed immediate solving, so he told all of you to make it back to headquarters. You and Morgan however, had been stuck together for the day and made it back a lot earlier than the rest of the team, prompting the two of you to get some necessary paperwork done.
You needed a day off— especially from Morgan.
The bullpens doors opened unexpectedly, drawing you and Derek out of your conversation. You turned, seeing the rest of the team waltz through the glass door— only this time, they were accompanied by a pair of small legs.
You couldn’t stop a reflexive smile from growing onto your face. “Is that who I think it is?”
Jack waddled into the bullpen, one of his tiny fists bundled up onto a small section of Hotch’s dress pants. You could’ve screamed, a reaction that was becoming more necessary every time you saw a kid, and most definitely when you saw Jack.
At the sound of your cheery voice, Jack looked up, biting onto his knuckles— something you learned was a sign of his bashfulness.
But when he realized it was you who was standing next to Morgan, his face immediately morphed into one that could only portray pure and innocent child joy, looking as if he couldn’t be happier to see you. Nothing could compare to how ecstatic that made you feel, chest getting fuzzy with endearment. Hotch placed his palm onto the back of his head. “Look who it is!”
You've taken care of Jack too many times you lost count, given since you and Hotch were close— practically family. You adored Jack and found yourself being struck with some newfound motherly instinct when it came to him— or any kid for that matter. He always gave you this very violent need to squeeze his cheeks and hug him so tight he might pop.
“Is that little Jackie?” Your voice was high and welcoming, trying to hide how utterly joyed you were with seeing him and failing miserably. Jack immediately pushed himself off of Hotch’s leg and began running towards you.
Well, he more so waddled his way over to you, small feet pattering roughly against the floor as he ran over to you in an unstable line. You met him halfway, crouching down and opening your arms for him. When he was close enough, he launched himself into said arms, voice loud with giggles and shrieks. “If it isn’t my favorite boy!”
You squeezed him tightly, rising once again to your natural height and hugging the small toddler. Morgan, of course, didn’t miss a beat to taunt. “Careful, Reid’s listening.”
“Oh please,” You rested Jack on your hip, keeping strong secure arms around him while he gripped the ends of your hair curiously. “Spencer knows that Jack comes first no matter what, isn’t that right Jack?”
“Yeah!” He laughed.
Spencer couldn’t keep in a single thought as he watched you interact with Jack so naturally. It twisted his chest in weird, scary ways. If it were anyone else he’d be terrified. But it was you. And he now found his head lingering with the idea of you as a mother— the mother of his children, specifically.
It was a conversation the two of you had once, very briefly a few months after you two got married. Spencer had been meaning to get back at it, but with the chaos of your jobs it had been really hard to think about anything other than serial killer and criminals.
But fuck, if Spencer said that seeing you interact so carefully and sweetly with not only Jack but many other children that had stumbled up on these last few cases— he’d be the biggest liar on the face of this earth.
Just the thought of starting a family with you was something that filled him with anticipation. It made his chest burn. Something he craved so deeply, it sometimes left him breathless.
“You’re getting so big and strong that I’m beginning to have a hard time lifting you up.” You huffed, setting him down onto the ground and crouching beside him. “You’re gonna give me back problems.”
“Derek says it’s because you’re getting weak!” His R’s were disguised as muffles W’s, which only caused your heart to clench further. A choke disguised as a strained laugh left your mouth.
“Is that so?” You turned over to him with a glare. Morgan scratched the back of his head and turned on his heel avoiding you and your piercing gaze.
“But who’s your favorite; big old chiseled Derek, or little weak me?” You squint your eyes at the boy, pursing your lips feeling very confident in his answer.
And to no one’s surprise did Jack point towards you and with a huge, wide smile laughed out. “You!”
You laughed victoriously, holding out a palm for Jack to clap. “Yeah, that’s right!”
“Oh, come on,” Morgan groaned.
After one last hug from the child, you ushered Jack over to Hotch, shooting an endeared smile towards him. God, you loved that kid so much.
JJ, Prentiss and Rossi made their way to the conference room. You look ahead, meeting the gaze of your husband and smiling profusely. It was a subconscious reaction your body had. You found yourself meeting Spencer halfway. “Hey,”
His hand rested on your hip as he leaned down, kissing you chastly. Spencer would’ve loved to actually take his time greeting you with a much proper kiss, but it was a middle ground the two of you found between professionalism and well— being married.
His hand, however, remained on the spot on your hip, thumb drawing circles instinctively. It was subtle, but his touch was still there. Your smile was big and lovestruck, looking up at him with soft eyes. “Hey,”
Just as you opened your mouth to speak, Jack's laughter ripped through the air as Hotch lifted him up. You and Spencer turned and you swear you could almost cry.
It was as if lately, when you allowed yourself to think even slightly about the concept of children you’d combust into a pool of tears and overbearing endearment. Spencer watched you looking over at Jack and noticed something pooling beneath your eyes.
You looked back at Spencer, lips tied in a pout. “I want one.”
“A baby?” He tuned, laughing slightly at how your body sunk against his, resting your forehead on his chest in exasperation.
“Yes,” You pushed yourself off his chest, throwing your hands around as you spoke. “The small hands, small feet— I swear everytime I see a baby, I get violent.”
You pouted. “Imagine a mini us Spence,”
And Spencer did. He thought about it in such detail that he forgot it wasn’t an actual reality of his. A little girl or boy, that resembled either of you, that held so many fractions and traits of the two of you— it seemed unreal to him.
“A mini us?” He repeated. You looked up at him.
“Well— yeah,” You reached up, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear. “I mean, we haven’t really talked about it but..”
Spencer wanted kids more than he had ever wanted anything before— but he knew that he only wanted it if it was with you. He couldn’t phantom the thought of starting a family with anyone else.
“We should,” He spoke. Your fingers played mindlessly with the bottom of his tie, looking up at him with a teasing smirk.
“We should talk about it or we should try?” A blush crept up his cheeks as his eyes widened just slightly. You always found ways to catch him off guard and you loved getting even the slightest reaction out of him.
“Uh—“ He dragged out his words, before his eyes landed back on you. “Both?”
You laughed and he smiled. He always smiled when you laughed, he couldn’t stop himself from doing so. You reached down, tangling your fingers with his. “I’m serious though,”
He hummed. “So am I.”
“You actually want to start trying for a baby?” This seemed like a conversation that was far too intimate to be having in the middle of the bullpen— where you usually discussed varieties of atrocious things, but here you were I guess.
“Yeah,” He said, almost in disbelief that you had questioned it. You found yourself growing oddly shy, just thinking of a small version of the two of you running around.
Before you could continue on the subject, Morgan, who now held Jack on his shoulders, was calling you and Spencer over to the conference room. You turned to Spencer, smiling softly.
“Can we get back to this once we get home?”
“Please,” He breathed, leaning forward and pressing a longer kiss onto your lips. You grew giddy and smiled into the kiss, pulling away sooner than both of you would like.
“I love you,” You smiled. He tucked a strand of hair behind your ear and placed a loving kiss on your forehead.
“I love you.”
everyone wants him | fred g. weasley
summary: everyone wants fred weasley, why would he want you? word count: 3.2k masterlist
Tumblr media
The Leaky Cauldron was alive with its usual chaos—laughter, clinking glasses, and the occasional misplaced spell fizzling out before causing any real harm.
You sat tucked into the corner of the pub, nursing a Butterbeer that had long since gone lukewarm. Alicia had dragged you out tonight, claiming you needed to “live a little.” You weren’t entirely convinced, but there was something about her enthusiasm that made saying no impossible.
And then there was Fred Weasley.
You’d noticed him the second he walked in, though you’d never admit it. His presence was magnetic in a way you couldn’t quite explain, drawing attention without even trying. He laughed too loud, flashed that mischievous grin too easily, and had the audacity to look good doing it.
He was surrounded, of course. Angelina was at his side, rolling her eyes at something he’d said, but not enough to hide her smile. A couple of other faces hovered nearby—girls who leaned in a little too close, their laughter a little too eager.
You forced yourself to look away, focusing instead on Alicia, who was recounting some outrageous story involving a Niffler and a stolen bracelet.
“And then—are you even listening?”
You blinked, startled, and Alicia followed your gaze across the room. She smirked. “Ah. Fred Weasley.”
You frowned. “What about him?”
“You were practically drooling.”
“I was not.”
She laughed, leaning back in her chair. “Don’t bother denying it. Everyone looks at him like that at least once. It’s infuriating, isn’t it?”
“What is?”
“How bloody charming he is.”
You rolled your eyes but didn’t argue. Infuriating was a good word for it.
It wasn’t until later in the night, after the crowd had thinned and Alicia had gone off to dance with some guy you didn’t recognize, that Fred approached you.
“Mind if I sit?” he asked, already sliding into the chair across from you.
You glanced up, startled. “Uh, sure?”
His grin widened, and you felt an unwelcome flutter in your chest. “You’re Alicia’s friend, right? I’ve seen you around. I’m Fred.”
“I know who you are.”
“Do you?” He leaned forward, resting his chin in his hand. “Should I be flattered or concerned?”
You narrowed your eyes, refusing to rise to the bait. “Depends.”
“On?”
“Whether or not you’re about to use that ridiculous charm of yours to try and get in my pants.”
He laughed—a genuine, full-bodied sound that caught you off guard. “Merlin, you’re sharp, aren’t you? I like that.”
“I wasn’t trying to be likable.”
“Even better.”
You shook your head, unsure whether to be annoyed or amused. He was persistent, you’d give him that.
“So,” he said, leaning back in his chair. “Why are you here, all tucked away in the corner like some kind of mysterious enigma?”
“Mysterious enigma?”
“It’s the best I could come up with on short notice. Don’t judge me.”
This time, you couldn’t stop the small smile that crept onto your face. “I didn’t want to come tonight. Alicia dragged me here.”
“Well, remind me to thank her later,” he said, his tone light but his eyes unexpectedly serious.
You hesitated, caught off guard by the shift. For a moment, you wondered if there might be more to Fred Weasley than the charming facade.
But then someone called his name—a girl, predictably—and the moment passed.
Fred glanced over his shoulder, his grin returning as he waved her off. When he turned back to you, he seemed almost reluctant.
“Duty calls,” he said, rising from his chair. “But don’t be a stranger, yeah?”
“Why would I be anything else?”
His laughter followed him as he walked away, and you were left alone, staring at your now-empty glass and wondering what, exactly, had just happened.
&
Diagon Alley was unusually quiet for a Saturday afternoon. The crisp autumn air carried the faint scent of roasted chestnuts from a nearby cart, mingling with the earthy smell of parchment and ink that clung to the shopfront of Flourish and Blotts. You had come to pick up a new quill, your old one having finally succumbed to overuse during a particularly tedious set of reports.
As you stepped out of the shop, quill and a small stack of books tucked under your arm, you nearly collided with someone coming in the opposite direction.
“Careful there,” came the familiar voice, low and teasing.
Fred Weasley.
You took a step back, startled, and looked up to find him grinning down at you. His hair was windswept, cheeks slightly flushed from the cold, and he had the same effortless energy that seemed to follow him everywhere.
“Do you make a habit of running into people, or am I just lucky?” he asked.
“Only the particularly unfortunate,” you replied, stepping aside to let him pass.
“Unfortunate?” He raised an eyebrow, his grin widening. “Here I thought you’d be thrilled to see me.”
You rolled your eyes, though you couldn’t quite suppress the small smile tugging at your lips. “What are you doing here, anyway? Don’t tell me you’re in need of a good book.”
“I’ll have you know I’m an avid reader,” he said, placing a hand over his chest in mock offense. “In fact, I was just about to pick up a—” He paused, glancing over your stack of books. “What’s this? ‘The Art of Brewing Potent Potions’? Didn’t take you for the potion-making type.”
You shifted the books slightly, suddenly self-conscious. “I’m not. It’s for a friend.”
“Ah,” he said, nodding solemnly. “A likely story.”
“Do you ever stop talking?”
“Not if I can help it.”
Despite yourself, you laughed—a small, involuntary sound that you quickly tried to stifle. Fred noticed, of course, and his grin softened into something warmer, more genuine.
“Well, I’d hate to keep you from your important potion-related business,” he said after a moment, stepping aside to let you pass.
“Important quill-related business, actually,” you corrected, holding up the bag in your hand.
“Ah, of course. How could I forget?”
You shook your head, already turning to leave, but his voice stopped you.
“Wait,” he said, his tone shifting slightly.
You turned back, surprised to see something uncertain flicker across his face. It was gone almost as quickly as it had appeared, replaced by his usual confidence, but it left you curious.
“Let me walk you back,” he said, gesturing down the street.
You hesitated, torn between instinctively brushing him off and the strange, unfamiliar pull you felt to say yes. In the end, the latter won out.
“Alright,” you said, falling into step beside him.
The walk back was filled with the kind of aimless chatter that felt oddly natural—Fred recounting some escapade involving a rogue charm and a very unhappy house-elf, you half-listening, half-watching the way his hands moved as he spoke.
When you finally reached your door, he paused, rocking back on his heels. “Well, this is me,” you said, nodding towards the entrance.
Fred nodded, his grin returning. “Good to know. I’ll keep this in mind for next time.”
“Next time?”
“Sure,” he said, already stepping away. “You’re not getting rid of me that easily.”
And with that, he turned and walked off, leaving you standing in the doorway with a faint smile and a strange, fluttering feeling in your chest.
&
The weeks that followed your second encounter were marked by an unexpected rhythm.
Fred had a way of showing up—not at your door like expected, but in the spaces in between. He had a knack for making himself unavoidable, though never in an overbearing way. You’d catch him at the tea shop near your office, juggling two mugs precariously in his hands and grinning at you as if it were fate. Or in the park, where he’d be charming a group of kids with conjured fireworks, his laughter echoing over the treetops.
“I swear, you’re everywhere,” you said one afternoon when you bumped into him yet again outside Flourish and Blotts.
“Or maybe you’re just not very good at avoiding me,” he replied, his grin maddeningly confident.
Despite your best efforts, the barriers you’d carefully constructed began to shift, piece by piece. It started with the smallest of gestures—him carrying your books when your arms were full, sneaking you a bag of your favorite sweets when he somehow discovered your weakness for honey drops. The conversations, too, began to stretch beyond the surface, slipping into territory you weren’t entirely comfortable with but couldn’t resist exploring.
“Tell me something you’ve never told anyone,” Fred said one evening, his voice softer than usual.
You had both ended up in the same quiet corner of The Leaky Cauldron—pure coincidence, or so he claimed. He leaned forward, his elbows resting on the table, and for once, his usual smirk was nowhere to be found.
“Why would I do that?” you asked, deflecting with a raised eyebrow.
“Because I’d like to know,” he said simply.
You hesitated, your fingers brushing the rim of your mug. The question had an intimacy to it that made you feel vulnerable, and yet, there was something about the way he looked at you—like he could see straight through the walls you kept up.
“I’m scared of not being good enough,” you blurted before you could stop yourself.
Fred blinked, surprised by your honesty, but his expression quickly softened. “Good enough for what?”
“For anything. Everything,” you admitted, your voice quieter now. “I don’t know. It’s stupid.”
“It’s not,” he said firmly, his gaze steady. “And for the record, I think you’re more than good enough.”
The moment lingered, delicate and raw, before you cleared your throat and changed the subject. Fred let you, but the look in his eyes stayed with you long after you’d said goodnight.
As time passed, your world seemed to orbit closer to his. He found reasons to seek you out, and you found yourself looking forward to his presence, even when you tried to convince yourself otherwise.
One evening, he brought you to his joke shop after hours, proudly showing you prototypes of new products. His enthusiasm was infectious, his face lighting up as he explained the intricacies of a new line of trick wands.
“Why do I feel like you’re trying to recruit me?” you teased as he handed you one to test.
“Because I am,” he said without hesitation. “You’d be great at it. You’ve got a good eye for details, and you don’t take my nonsense too seriously.”
“Someone has to keep you grounded.”
Fred grinned. “Exactly. That’s why you’re perfect for the job.”
You laughed, shaking your head, but something warm and unspoken passed between you.
It wasn’t long before people began to notice.
The first comment came from a colleague at work, offhand and seemingly harmless. “You and Fred Weasley seem awfully friendly,” they said, their tone laced with just enough curiosity to make you feel self-conscious.
The whispers followed soon after—barely audible at first but growing louder with each passing day. Fred’s reputation preceded him, and people were quick to remind you of it.
“Everyone knows he’s a flirt. Don’t get your hopes up.”
“He’s not exactly the relationship type.”
The words wormed their way into your mind, sowing seeds of doubt. You began to notice the way people looked at you when you were with him, their gazes heavy with judgment or pity.
Fred, oblivious to the change, continued to treat you the same—warm, attentive, and maddeningly Fred. But the whispers weighed on you, and before long, you found yourself pulling back.
The first time you ignored his owl, it felt like a betrayal. The second time, it felt like self-preservation. By the third, it had become a habit.
Fred noticed, of course, though he didn’t understand.
“Have I done something wrong?” he asked one day, cornering you outside the tea shop where he’d so often ‘accidentally’ run into you.
“No,” you lied, refusing to meet his eyes.
“You’re avoiding me.”
“I’m not.”
“You are.”
The hurt in his voice was almost too much to bear, but you held firm. The walls you’d rebuilt were sturdy now, bolstered by fear and the voices of those who’d warned you to stay away.
Fred watched you for a long moment, his expression unreadable, before stepping back. “Alright,” he said quietly. “If that’s what you want.”
You told yourself it was. But as he walked away, the ache in your chest suggested otherwise.
The days after your confrontation with Fred dragged on, every hour stretching unbearably long. You told yourself you were doing the right thing, retreating before you got too close, before the inevitable heartbreak. But the certainty that had driven you to push him away began to waver in his absence.
You didn’t realize how much space Fred had occupied in your life until it was suddenly empty. The silence felt heavier now. Your tea breaks were lonely, lacking his easy laughter. Even the parks seemed duller without the sound of him enchanting children with his conjured fireworks.
Work became a refuge—a place where you could bury yourself in tasks and avoid thinking about him. But even there, his presence lingered. The bag of honey drops he’d given you sat unopened in your desk drawer. You’d thought about tossing it a dozen times, but your hand always hesitated, as though getting rid of it would make the loss of him too real.
It was during one of these long, quiet days that you overheard them.
“I heard she’s been seeing Fred Weasley,” someone said behind you in the tearoom.
Your stomach dropped, and you froze, pretending to stir sugar into your tea.
“She’s deluded if she thinks he’s serious about her,” another voice replied. “Fred Weasley doesn’t settle down. She’s just a bit of fun, like all the others.”
Their laughter echoed in your ears, sharp and grating. You forced yourself to walk out calmly, but their words stayed with you. By the time you got home, they’d grown into a roar in your mind, impossible to ignore.
He deserves better. Someone more exciting, more confident. Someone who isn’t scared of taking up space in his life.
The thoughts clawed at you as you sat at your desk, staring at the parchment in front of you.
You don’t belong in his world.
Your hand moved before you could stop it, the quill scratching out the words you thought would sever the tie cleanly. The letter was short, clinical, void of the emotions tearing through you.
“Fred, I think it’s best we go our separate ways. Thank you for everything. Take care.”
The owl flew off with it before you could change your mind, its silhouette disappearing into the night. The moment it was gone, the finality of it hit you like a curse.
You curled up in bed that night, the ache in your chest feeling like a physical weight. You told yourself it was for the best. But deep down, you started to think you’d made a mistake.
You waited for him to show up at your door, demanding answers in his usual larger-than-life way. But Fred didn’t come.
At first, you convinced yourself that his silence was proof that you were right—he wasn’t serious about you. But as the days turned into a week, the void he left behind became unbearable.
It was Alicia who finally forced you to confront it.
“You’ve been sulking for days,” she said, plopping down on your couch uninvited. “What happened?”
“Nothing,” you mumbled, not looking up from the book you weren’t actually reading.
Alicia snatched the book out of your hands, her sharp gaze piercing. “You don’t look like this over ‘nothing.’ Spill.”
You hesitated, but the words came spilling out anyway—the whispers, the letter, the crushing fear that you’d never be enough for someone like Fred.
When you finished, Alicia looked at you as though you’d just told her you planned to live on the moon.
“You’re an idiot,” she said bluntly.
“Thanks,” you muttered, burying your face in your hands.
“I’m serious,” Alicia said, her voice softening. “Fred isn’t like that. Not with you. Do you have any idea how he lights up when he talks about you?”
Your chest tightened at her words, but you shook your head. “He’s Fred Weasley. He lights up for everyone.”
“No,” she said firmly. “Not like this. Trust me, I’ve seen him flirt a hundred times. This isn’t flirting, love. He’s serious about you. And if you can’t see that, you’re going to regret it.”
Her words haunted you that night as you lay in bed, staring at the ceiling. By the time morning came, you knew you couldn’t leave things as they were.
The shop was quiet when you arrived, the familiar smell of wood polish and faint smoke lingering in the air. You knocked hesitantly, and Fred appeared in the doorway moments later, his expression unreadable.
“Hey,” you said, your voice barely above a whisper.
Fred stepped aside without a word, letting you in. The silence between you was suffocating, the usually lively space feeling oddly hollow.
You fidgeted with the edge of your sleeve, searching for the right words. “I—”
Fred cut you off. “Why are you here?” His voice was calm, but there was an edge to it that made your chest tighten.
“I
 I wanted to explain,” you said, your throat dry.
“Explain what?” he asked, his arms crossed. “Why you decided to shut me out without a real reason?”
The hurt in his voice cracked something inside you. “I was scared,” you admitted. “Of getting hurt. Of not being enough.”
Fred stared at you for a long moment, his expression softening as he stepped closer. “Why would you think that?”
“Because everyone says—”
“To hell with what everyone says,” Fred interrupted, his voice fierce. “I don’t care what they think. The only person whose opinion matters is yours.”
You swallowed hard, your voice trembling. “I didn’t know if you were serious. About me.”
Fred reached out, taking your hands in his. “I’m as serious as it gets,” he said quietly. “But I can’t make you believe that. You have to let yourself believe it.”
The tears you’d been holding back spilled over, and Fred gently pulled you into his arms. His embrace was warm, steady, and everything you hadn’t realized you’d needed.
“I’m sorry,” you whispered against his chest.
Fred pressed a kiss to your hair, his voice soft but certain. “You’re the only one I want.”
When you finally pulled back, his hands lingered on your face, his thumbs brushing away the last of your tears. The look in his eyes was so full of warmth and determination that you felt the last of your doubts dissolve.
When he kissed you, it wasn’t just a promise—it was a beginning.
Quinn had been captivated by you from the very first time you said his name. There was something about the way it fell from your lips—soft and velvety, with a subtle rasp that sent a shiver down his spine. It wasn’t just the sound of your voice; it was the way you spoke to him, with a warmth that wrapped around his heart like a favorite song. Every time you said his name, it made his chest tighten, his pulse quicken. And you said it often.
You didn’t rely on the usual pet names his past girlfriends had favored—sweet nothings like "baby" or "babe." No, you chose his name, always. When you called for him, it was, “Quinn, can you grab this?” or “Quinn, come here.” When you told him you loved him, you didn’t let the words hang abstract in the air. You made them personal: “I love you, Quinn.” Each syllable was deliberate, an anchor tying you to him.
It wasn’t long before he realized he couldn’t get enough of it. Just six months into your relationship, his mind began wandering toward something far bigger. He found himself daydreaming about the future—your shared future. He pictured you standing across from him, framed by flowers and sunlight, saying his name again, but this time in wedding vows that would bind you together forever. The thought of hearing you say, “I do,” in front of your friends and family was enough to leave him breathless.
You hadn’t just made him feel loved—you’d made him feel seen, known, and completely yours.
“Quinn.” Your voice cuts through his wandering thoughts, pulling him sharply back into the present. It’s not loud, but it carries—a perfect mix of warmth and clarity that only you could manage. He blinks, momentarily disoriented, before his gaze finds you.
There you are, a vision that steals his breath all over again. He can hardly believe his luck—that he gets to see you like this, so at ease, so unencumbered, and utterly captivating. You’re seated at the kitchen table, papers scattered around you in a casual chaos as you focus on grading. The soft, golden hue from the overhead light bathes you in a warm glow, making you look almost otherworldly.
His lips twist into a small smile, like he hasn’t already seen your outfit today—though, of course, he has. Worn sweatpants, and his old UMICH shirt, the one you stole and now practically live in while at home. Your curly hair is piled into a loose bun, and your glasses sit low on your nose.
It had been two months since he’d first thought about proposing—two months of tucking that desire away, hiding it behind everyday moments and careful smiles. He’d never been in this deep with a woman before. The idea of marriage had always felt like something distant, meant for other people. But now? Now it sat in the back of his mind like a quiet ache, present in every thought, in every small moment with you. Eight months together. Was that long enough? Was it too soon? He wasn’t sure. The last thing he wanted was to scare you off, to move faster than you were ready for, and somehow ruin this thing between you. It terrified him, the possibility of misstepping, of losing you. But it also terrified him to wait, to let too much time pass and risk you thinking he didn’t see forever with you.
These thoughts came and went, like tides he couldn’t stop. But it was moments like this—simple, domestic, and probably boring to anyone else—that hit him hardest.
"Earth to Quinn." Your voice rings out again, light and teasing, amusement flickering between your brows.
Quinn blinks, startled back to the moment, and clears his throat as though shaking off the thoughts had stolen him away once more. His gaze refocuses on you, a small, sheepish smile playing at the corner of his mouth. "Yeah, baby. What is it?"
"You okay?" You ask, tilting your head. "I can hear your brain working all the way over here."
"Just zoned out." He says, with a dismissing shake of his head. He leans back against the armrest, running a hand through his hair to push it out of his face. "Yeah, just zoned out," he confirms, his voice low and a little distracted. "Sorry. Just... thinking about a few things."
You study him for a moment, noticing the way his teeth graze his bottom lip, and the way his hand lingers in his hair, like it’s searching for something to hold onto. You nod. "Wanna talk about it?"
His expression softens, the quiet earnestness of the question reaching into the place where that familiar ache still lingers. Almost instinctively, his hand stretches toward you—palm open, a silent invitation. He hesitates for just a breath, his fingers curling slightly as though unsure if he should follow through, before he nods. "C'mere a sec?"
You slide your glasses off and set them on the table, the quiet clink barely audible in the stillness of the room. Pushing back your chair, you cross the small space to Quinn. He’s waiting, his arms already lifting to pull you close the second you’re within reach. He tugs you down into his lap with an ease that feels like second nature, his thighs shifting apart instinctively to make room for you.
The moment you settle against him, his arms wrap tightly around your waist, and he buries his face against the curve of your neck. You feel the faint warmth of his breath on your skin as he exhales a deep sigh. The soft, sweet scent of you—the one he’s come to think of as home—floods his senses, easing some of the tension in his chest.
He pulls away, and leans his head back against the couch. For a moment, he just looks at you, his gaze lingering as though trying to memorize every detail, even though he knows he already has. The soft slope of your nose. The curve of your mouth. That small, almost invisible freckle just beneath your bottom lip—the one he always kisses when the warmth in his chest gets the better of him. His throat tightens, and he swallows hard, a nervous flutter building in his chest.
“What is it, Quinn?”
He takes a deep breath, his fingers brushing over your hips in gentle, absent strokes, the movement more reflex than thought. The rhythm steadies him, but only just. His mind churns, the weight of what he wants to say pressing hard against his chest. This is it, he thinks. He can’t hold it in any longer—the waiting, the second-guessing, the holding back. It’s all become unbearable. Whatever happens next, he has to let this out.
“Just thinking about us,” he begins, his voice quiet but steady. “Our relationship. How much I care about you. How lucky I feel to have you like this.” He pauses for a moment, like testing the ground beneath him before taking another step forward. “It’s been on my mind a lot lately.”
Your lips curve into a soft smile, the kind that makes him feel like gravity tilts toward you. "Yeah?" you say, your voice gentle, encouraging.
“Yeah,” he replies, barely above a murmur. His throat feels tight, his pulse hammering beneath his ribs, but he keeps his gaze locked on you. There’s something grounding about the way you look at him—like you’re holding the door open for him, not rushing him, just waiting. It gives him enough courage to keep going. “It’s just
” He exhales, his breath light and shallow. “You mean so much to me. More than I think I’ve been able to say out loud. And I keep thinking about what it would be like to make this permanent. To have this—us—be something that lasts forever.”
Your breathing hitches, the words catching you off guard, your chest tightening as his meaning begins to settle over you. Your eyes widen slightly, searching his face, and you can see it there—devotion, hope, and just the faintest hint of nerves. Your heart skips, and it feels like the entire room is holding its breath alongside you.
Quinn’s hands shift from your waist, moving up with slow, deliberate care. His fingers trace the curve of your cheek, brushing softly along your skin, his thumbs lingering just below your cheekbones. “Marry me?” he asks, the words soft, almost reverent, yet steady and sure in a way that sends a shiver down your spine. It’s not a question tossed lightly into the air; it’s a truth he’s been holding onto, waiting for the right moment to share.
Your lips part, but for a second, no sound comes out. “M-Marry you?” The words tumble out unevenly, caught between shock and something else—something overwhelming and impossibly warm blooming in your chest.
“I want forever with you, baby,” he says, pausing for a moment before speaking again. "I know this is a shitty proposal, we're both at home in our pajamas, and I don't even have a ring yet, I just...I don't want to wait anymore. I love you, and I want to spend the rest of my life loving and taking care of you."
You swallow hard, your heart racing. Tears prick the corners of your eyes, and a tremulous smile starts to curve your lips. “You
 you want me forever?” The words are quiet, as though testing them out, wrapping your mind around the enormity of what he’s offering.
His lips twitch into a soft, almost shy smile, his forehead resting against yours now. “Forever and then some,” he murmurs. “If you’ll have me.”
A sudden, uncontrollable squeal escapes your lips, the kind you might have been embarrassed about in any other moment. But here, it feels perfect—pure, unfiltered joy. Before you can stop yourself, you’re leaning in, your lips crashing against his in a burst of energy and love. The kiss is messy, hurried, but it’s full of all the things you can’t quite put into words.
Quinn smiles against your lips, his arms wrapping tightly around you as he leans back against the sofa, taking you with him. The movement is unhurried this time, deliberate, as though he’s savoring every second. His hands settle firmly at your back, holding you close, like he never wants to let go. The kiss deepens briefly, his lips moving softly against yours, before the two of you finally break apart, breathless but smiling.
Your forehead comes to rest against his, your eyes fluttering closed for just a moment. His breath mingles with yours, warm and steady, and his thumbs brush tenderly along your sides as though grounding himself in the moment. You press your hands to his chest, feeling the rhythmic pounding of his heart, and it feels like it matches the erratic beat of your own.
“Yes,” you whisper, the word spilling out of you before you even realize it. Then it comes again, louder, stronger. “Yes, yes, Quinn. Yes!” The words are wrapped in laughter, your voice trembling with happiness.
Quinn exhales a shaky breath, relief and joy flooding his expression. His hands slide to your waist, his grip firm and steady, as his eyes meet yours. They’re shining now, soft but full of something deeper, something that makes your chest feel impossibly full. “Yeah?” he murmurs, his voice low and quiet, as though still needing confirmation, still needing to hear the word from you one more time.
“Yeah,” you say, grinning so wide your cheeks ache. “Forever, Quinn. I want forever with you, too.”
His lips curve into a broad, radiant smile—the kind that makes him look younger, freer, like every weight he’s been carrying has fallen away. He lets out a quiet laugh, the sound rumbling through his chest. “You don’t know how much I needed to hear that,” he says softly, his thumb brushing along your cheek now. “You’ve just made me the happiest man alive, you know that?”
Tears prick your eyes, your laughter softening into something quieter, more emotional. You reach for his face, your fingers brushing against the rough stubble on his jaw. “I think we just made each other the happiest people alive.”
You and Vi were inseparable. Ever since the moment you met her when Vander took her and her younger sister Pouder in, you instantly connected. She became your best friend, the person you could count on, the person who was there for you like no one was before, in your younger years. But things were different now, and after what happened that horrible night that haunted you for years, nothing felt worth fighting anymore. But still can't help it bu remenneceing all these joyful moments.
Flashback
"Vi look what I found!" You called for her, excitement filling your voice. Vi turned to look at you, taking off her gloves since she was busy practicing her punches. She smiled softly at how cute you looked when you were excited about something.
"What is it dove?" Your nickname a beautiful sound when she was the one saying it. You approached her and showed her what you had in your hands. It was a ring, with a gorgeously polished green stone on top of it, making it shine brightly when the light was hitting on it.
"Wow, well look at you. My treasure hunter." She pumped playfully her shoulder with yours and you blushed. She carefully took it in her ahnds to inspect it. "This could be very useful if we sell it." Sell it? No.
"Um, I was thinking about keeping it actually. It's not like rings like this one will start falling from the sky every now and then. It's unique."
Vi smirked at you and she chuckled.
" Yeah it's ok I guess. Just not as unique..." you furrowed your brows as she leaned closer to you. "As you." She pulled away, a proud smirk painted on her face as she watched yours turning red.
"I- oh shut up." You grimaced, pretending you didn't like that she was talking like his to you. But in reality, you absolutely loved it.
"Anyways, are you ready to go back? Vander siad not to wander around this late." She grabbed her bag and was about to give you thw ring back, but she stopped.
"What?" You asked curiously.
She took another look at the ring and then put it in her pocket.
"I'm keeping. You never know how useful is going to be in the future." That was all she said, before she took your han in hers gently and left the practice room.
...
You, Vi and the rest of your had thought about having small group meeting on the rooftop, since it was the only place that peaceful enough, even in a town like Zaun.
"And when the guy almost got me, I grabbed his arm, turned it around and then kneed him straight to his face!" Ekko was trting to illustrate the fight and it was so hilarious with how he was portraying the movements, that you couldn't help but laugh out loud. The rest joined you too and Ekko let out frustrated sigh.
"If you were you would've seen how cool it was." Ekko smirked and wrapped you arm his shoulder, giving him a small kiss on his head. Ekko was like a brother to you, and you felt so happy seeing him smiling like that after what he also wne through.
"I know, that's why you're coolset hero here in Zaun" You smiled.
"You really think that I'm cool?" His eyes lighting up with happiness.
"Of course I do!" He huuged tightly and then went to talk to Powder.
You hadn't noticed yet, but Vi was the only one who didn't utter a word all this time. She was too busy looking at you fondly, being completely gone by the way your smile you light up this dark and nasty world, and how caring you were for your small family.
"You ok?" You sat down next to her.
She smiled and gently took your hand in hers.
"Better than ever." She replied and let you rest your head on her shoulder.
...
Everything was blurry. The explosion had you made you fly literally out of the building, and you had survived because Vander had caught uou before you and Vi before you could get hurt. This wasn't supposed to got like this. When Vi had to told me and Powder to stay out of this mission, of course she did not take it well. She wnated to help just like I did, and since I was the only who could think reasonably enough, I had to convince Powder to stay in the bar with me.
But the plan had changed. She was determined to go help them and I needed go with her in case something bad happened. Which of course happened. That's why we now had lost Claggor, Mylo and Vander in one night.
"Vander? VANDER!" I cried hard as I tried to hug his giant unmoving body. "No no no no no" I mumbled to myself as I tried to shake him so he can wake up. There's no way he was dead.
"What the fuck were you thinking huh?" Vi's voice boomed through the rain.
Screamed in my face, while Powder was on her knees next to Vander as she was bawling her eyes out. Vi had slapped her, and I could do was watching in terror as I saw- for the first time - Vi becoming someone else. A stranger.
"I had to follow her Vi. It was dangerous to go out there alone and-"
"You could have prevented her from coming here and stay back in the bar I like I told you to do!" Vi was seething in anger. More tears were building in my eyes and I my knees felt weak at what had happened.
"I don't...I'm sorry Vi-"
"A sorry will NOT CHANGE A FUCKING THING!" Then Vi pushed me hard on the ground and time seemed to stop. I was scared. So scared. Then Vi's expression from anger to terror.
"I...Y/n..." She wanted to take her in her arms. Both Powder and Y/n. But she wasn't in the right state of mind and she was scared that she would hurt them more if she stayed here with them any longer. So she did what she had to do. Get away from them.
"No" Powder's voice shook "VI! No- DON'T LEAVE ME!" She yelled and cried on her knees.
You stood up and went next to Powder and cradled her in your arms. She cried in your chest as you watched Vi disappearing from your sight, leaving you all alone.
"Well what do we have here." His sickeningly disgusting voice said. You slowly turned your head and looked at this piece of shit of a man.
"You asshole" Your hold tightened around Powder, fearing that they would hurt her.
"Get them both gone. I don't need anyone from Vander's little family to roam my streets anymore." Once of Silco's groupies grabbed you harshly by your hair and you screamed loudly.
"It'll be so fun to skin you alive" He chuckled and took me away from Powder. She trief to reach for your hold as she screamed your name repeatedly, not handling the fact that she was going to lost you too. Not wanting ti leace her alone, you throwed a kick behind you and the man let out a scream as he crouched down from pain.
"Don't let ler leave!" Silco said and more man from his group went after you, while trying to shoot you. Not being able to do anything more, you made a promise to yourself that you would find a way to save Powder and you took off. As you ran, you could swear that even though the loud noise of the rain, you thought you still heard Vi calling your name.
Few years later
Your life changed drastically after these events. You were lucky enough that Ekko found you though and you joined the firelights. Without them you wouldn't have survived in the cruel world that Silco had created.
The had grew dark, and you tried to stay in the shadows so you wouldn't get caught since there were many police officers roaming around the streets. You could tell that something had gone wrong. You and Ekko knew about Jinx. Jinx. For you she would always be Powder no matter what. You were aware that she had changed because of Silco, but you had hoped that maybe a small part of her, could still fight for the right causes and remember all the times she spent with us, as Powder.
"I'll go look for another way ok? Make sure that you will not get caught." He whispered and bring you into a hug. You hugged him back and smiled softly.
"Don't worry about me. I got this."
"I know you do." He smirked and then disappeared in the cold, dark night. When you looked back at the enforcers, you could tell that something had gone wrong. They were preparing for something and you didn't know what it was about, but no matter what you had to stay in the dark and cross the bridge as soon as possible.
'Great' you thought and tried to look for another way that could get you to the other side. Once you found it, you were ready to leave but something stopped you. Loud steps could be heard in the silent night, running towards you. Oh no. Someone had definitely found you.
"Shit" you cursed under your breath and tried to escape but before I could even move, I saw a many fireflies flying all over the bridge. Strange. Then suddenly they exploded and I looked for a way to cover myself from them. After a few minutes, when the place was terrifyingly quiet, I made the move to leave but my body was pumped into a hard chest, making me lose my balance. I was about fall but a hard grip around my waist prevented me from doing so.
"Leave me alone right now!" I yelled and tried to escape from her hold but instead it become tighter the moment I spoke making me wince.
"y/n?" The figure's shaking voice made you stop fighting from getting off their hold. This voice. There's...there's no way.
"Vi?" I whispered, and backed away a bit to take a better look. No fucking way. Your reaction at seeing her after years wasn't what she expected, as you hardly pushed her away.
"Dove please let me-" Then a punch was thrown on her jaw and she started at you with wide eyes.
"Shut the fuck up" I girtted my teeth. Vi just atood there, in silence, not believing that she had just found you again after all this time. She was looking for you after he finally got out of the prison. When she couldn't found you at all, she thought she had lost you too for good but now you stood in front of her, her heart started beating again like it did for you all this time.
"Dove I-"
"I don't want you to say a single word. Nothing you'll say will change a thing" Your cold voice gave shivers to Vi. All she could think about was that she needed you desperately. To hold you, kiss you and love you.
Before she could take a step closer to you again, loud noises could be heard on the other side and some rangers made their appearance.
"We have to go now." She grabbed your wrist to follow her but you pulled away.
"I don't want to go anywhere with you. I've had enough with all this."
"Listen to me" she grabbed your shoulders tight "you either going to get yourself killed by them and Jinx, or you going to come with me so we can find a llace to hide for a bit and survive." Sha siad through her teeth and you let out a frustrated sigh.
"Fine." You moved first and then Vi followed closely behind you, just to protect you in case something happened.
After you were running for a few more minutes, you laid your back on a wall to take a breath. You could feel Vi's stare burning on you, but you didn't bother looking at her.
"You're ok?" She said breathlessly.
You shooke your head. Nothing was ok. But you had to put aside all the feelings you felt at the moment and focus on how you could survive the coming war.
"No but I'll manage." You replied coldly and Vi could swear that her heart was breaking piece by piece at the way you wouldn't even spare a glance at her.
"Dove I'm really sorry- I know, I know it'll never be enough. After how I treated both you and Powder that night, after I pushed you and then left you and my sister all alone, in the cold dark I- I never left you!" You looked at her. She almost took a step closer to you but she restrained herself frkm doing so in case you pushed her away again.
"I never left. I just wanted to fet away from you so I wouldn't hurt you more. My mind was clouded by anger and sadness and I took it out on you and Powder. I unfortunately had to see you getting hurt by Silco's men and then shooting at you and my goodness dove, I didn't had the time to come to you. They already had arrested me. Marco, the police officer drugged me and I..." her eyes became glossy.
"Please, you have to believe me. I missed you so much. So fucking much baby you have no-" Her hand was placed to where her heart was beating "it physically pains me to see you resent me like this. You can scream at me, hit me as many times as you want but please. Don't push me away. I don't ever want to experience what is like to not being with you." A sob left her lips and that made your own tears fall from your eyes.
"Oh Vi..." You whimpered and started moving towards her to hug her but Vi already did first, by wrapping her arms around your waist as she held you tight against her warm and solid body. The contact made you cry, and you rested your head on her shoulder so you can muffle the noises. As for Vi, hugging you after all this time felt like she could finally breath again.
"I'm here baby, I'm here and I'm never leaving you again. I'll do everything to earn your trust back and make Powder come back to us to. I'll make our family like it was before." She whispered against your head and her hand was drawing soothing circles on your back.
You pulled back and you stared at her. Her heart clenched when she saw your red eyes.
"I promise you baby, I'll stay. It's forever for us. It was meant for us to be together no matter what." She mumbled against your lips and not being able to control it anymore, you crushed your lips with hers. Vi moaned at the feeling of finally kissing you all this time and she cherished like this was going to be the last kiss she would ever get. Which she would never let that happen after tonight. She brought your body closer to hers, melting into the feeling of holding each other.
When you pulled back after a while, she smiled softly at you.
"My beautiful dove" she murmured against your lips and kissed you once more. You then hugged each other and enjoyed the silence before you had to go back out there.
"Dove?"
"Hm?"
"I have something for you." You looked up at her, a small furrow between your brows. She placed her hand inside the pocket and took out this beautiful ring you had found back then. You gasped and stared at it.
"You had it with you all this time?" Your voice shook with emotion.
"Always. Besides, I told you I would need it cause you never know how useful it can be in the future." She gently took your hand and placed the ring on your ring finger. Your eyes widened and Vi chuckled at your reaction, tears shining still from the tears.
"I know it's too early for things like these, and what will happen with Silco and everything is still unsure. But my future with you is not. Cause I know what I want and I want you. More than anything in this world. You're my forever." Her hand cradled the side of your face softly and you closed your eyes at the feeling comforting feeling of er warm hand touching you.
"...yes"
"Yes?!" Her shocked expression made you giggle.
"I want to do this with you. I want a future with you Violet and you better stay this time." You said between your small sobs. She then kissed you passionately and held you in her strong arms.
"It's me and you"
"Me and you" you whispered and you rested your forehead on hers. You believed her. No matter how angry you felt, how much pain you both had to endure because of her absence, you knew you'd somehow find your way back to each other.
Thinking about (lovesick) Hiori Yo keeping a diary.
His parents have always been emotionally unavaible. For them, Hiori was nothing more nothing less than an experiment, the one destined to be what they've always wanted to be and yet never managed to acomplish: someone who wears the title of being "the best in the world".
He also didn't have much (if any) friends. All his time was dedicated to football practice, so the only people he talked to (aside from his parents) were his teammates. And they were nice, sure, but they were not his friends. They were more like acquaintances. The only one he could really call a friend was one of his teammates, Karasu Tabito, and even so he still didn't feel comfortable enough talking to him about the complex thoughts he had.
Because of that, he's never had anyone to talk with. No one to confide about his feelings and emotions. No one to talk about how he wanted to leave his home house (that place didn't feel like a home). How his parents fucked up his sanity. How he didn't really like football that much.
He couldn't keep all these things inside his head anymore. He needed to pour these feelings out. That's why he decided to start a diary.
Grabbing an old notebook and one of those common blue pens, he started writing. The diary was his most treasured possession. It stayed locked inside his bedside table, being away from all of the prying eyes.
Writing felt good. He wrote about his strained relationship with his parents. About soccer practices. About gaming tips. About pretty much everything.
His thoughts about many different themes were written there. That's why his journal didn't really have a specific theme.
Well, at least in the beggining it didn't have.
Because ever since a month or so, all the pages on his diary began to revolve around a girl. You.
He met you during a rather boring math class. The teacher was rambling on and on about algebrics or whatever, and time seemed to freeze because of how utterly shitty the endless class seemed.
"His explanation sucks, doesn't it?"
He heard a female voice coming from beside him. When he turned to the direction of the sound, he saw the prettiest girl he had ever met.
Her hair framed her face perfectly, it's color matching her eyes in the most beautiful way Yo had ever seen. The smile she had on her face seemed to shine, and Hiori found himself smiling back, too.
"Yeah" he sighed, then looked back at the teacher
"I just wish the old hag would shut up"
"I wish he would just shut up"
They spoke at the same time.
Looking at eachother, they both began to laugh. Hard. Clutching your stomach and tearing up kind of laugh. Snorting like a pig laugh. Wheezing. Hitting the table with your fist to try and stop with the loud laughing, but being phisically incapable of stopping.
"Hiori Yo and (Name) (Lastname). Do you want to share with the class what made you laugh so hard? I'm sure they want to laugh to."
"N-No, mister. We're sorry. We-We'll stop" you answered, still trying to stiffle your laugh
"Do not interrupt my class again, or else I'll send you both to the principal's office"
"Okay sir." Hiori answered, not believing a word the teacher said but still a little scared to have his parents find out he went to the principal's office
"Hiori Yo, huh?" You said "It suits you"
"Thank you, miss (Name) (Lastname)." Hiori smirked "Your name is very pretty. It also suits you"
"Oh, so you think I'm pretty?" You smirked, a mischevious and playful glint on your eyes.
"N-no!" Hiori blushed hard, averting your gaze. His accent got stronger like it always did when he became nervous, and he was quick to correct himself "I-I mean, yes! You're very pretty! B-but I didn't mean to say t-that. Not that you're not pretty! Is just that..."
He was interrupted by the sound of your laugh mixed with the bell signalizing the end of the school day. It's obnoxious sound was such a contrast from your sweet, honey-like melodic laugh.
"Don't worry, I was just teasing you!" You smiled at him, grabbing your backpack and getting up "Well, see you on the next advanced math period, mister Hiori Yo"
You then quickly left, leaving behind a red and speechless Hiori.
He has been obsessed in love with you ever since. He wanted to be with you all of the time, no exceptions. You were just so nice! It seemed like his problems disappeared when you were near. Life seemed brighter, and even his parents noticed the change in his behavior. He was more carefree, happier, lighter.
And never once did he forget to write in his diary. In fact, he wrote about you so much he decided to rip the pages about his parents and other things and make the journal solely based on you.
He wrote about the dates he wanted to go to with you. Wrote about how he wanted to hold hands with you, kiss you till you're both breathless, stargaze with you, game with you. Do basically everything with you.
He detailed how he wanted to confess to you: you would both be in a park, having a picnic, when he would suddenly pull a bouquet from his backpack and put his feelings on the table, making it clear he viewed you as more than a friend. And then you'd laugh and say you like him too, making fun of his strong accent and how much effect you had over him.
Not that he'd mind. As long as your attention was on him, you could humilliate him all you want. He was pathetic.
He even wrote about your wedding, the petunias he wanted to give you and how Hiori (Name) had such a nice ring to it.
He wrote everything in his diary. And that was his fatal flaw.
Because he also wrote about how he wanted to spend his practice time with you. How he wanted to give up on soccer and move in with you to a house on the countryside, just you and him. How he sometimes skipped practices just to go out with you.
"Mom? Dad?"
He would never have thought that, one day, he would forget to lock the diary up. And who would've guessed it would fall in the hands of his parents, who have no idea of privacy.
"Yo, we need to talk about this"
When Hiori saw the notebook in his dad's hand, he swallowed dry. He felt like crying just by imagining what they wanted to discuss about.
Maybe they didn't read it. Yeah, maybe they still respected their son, at least a little bit.
"W-what? How did you..."
"It was on your bed." His mom answered, a stern expression on her face "me and your father came to an agreement after reading it, and..."
"You read it?!" Hiori was furious and sad at the same time. Not surprised, no. He knew they would've done this. "You can't do this! My personal thoughts are in there! It's my diary! You're invading my privacy!"
"Bullshit. Teenagers do not have nor need privacy" his father cut him off "Whatever. What matters is that we read about that (Name) girl. And we've decided..."
No. He can say anything but what he thinks they're bout to say. He can't handle that.
"We don't want you around that girl anymore. She's getting in the way of your football practices. That's why...
We're moving you to a different school."
No...
No.
NO!
"No she's not!" Hiori screamed, pleaded. He wished that for once his parents would listen to him, think about his feelings at least one time. "I love her! I swear I'll do double the practice! Just, please. Please don't do this" his voice was wavering. He was weak. "Please don't keep her away from me. Please."
"We do this cause we know what's best for you. We're your parents. We know you better than yourself." His mom tried to reason.
"No you don't!" Hiori screamed "She's the best thing that has ever happened to me! You can't do this to me! You can't decide these things in my behalf!"
"We're your parents. We can and we did. End of discussion." His dad gritted out, not an ounce of empathy in his face. "And we also decided you're not keeping a diary anymore. We don't want you hiding things from us."
With a swift move, he threw the notebook inside the fireplace.
"NO!" Hiori screamed, running to collect the ashes and try to save the diary, but it was already too late.
In his knees in front of the fire, Hiori cried. The flames were dancing around as if mocking his sadness, laughing at his disgrace.
He stayed there for so long he lost track of time. His parents were no longer in the room, deciding to finally give their son space. But he didn't want space.
He wanted you.
He stayed motionless until the last flame was unstinguished. And when it finally was, so was his hope for a better future. A future without his parents playing with the strings of his life all the time, treating him like a puppet. A future with no pain.
A future with you.
And so, a single page that survived flew and fell in front of him.
He picked it up.
Dear diary,
I think I can make up with my parents. I didn't told her about the whole situation since I don't want to burden her, but from what she heard, (Name) said we just need to talk. And maybe she's right. Maybe they'll like her just as much as I do, and we can be a big happy family. She makes me feel like everything is possible. I'm sure I love her, and I want to spend all my time by her side...
He couldn't read it anymore.
With a scream, Hiori tore the page apart.
Jungkook’s place felt like a second home to you. There was something about the way the late afternoon light filtered through his sheer curtains, casting a soft, golden glow across the room, that always made you feel
 safe. His apartment wasn’t anything fancy, just a cozy, lived-in space, but it was warm, inviting—everything you needed right now. You sank deeper into the couch, clutching the throw pillow to your chest, feeling its familiar softness as you stared absently at the half-finished jigsaw puzzle on his coffee table. There were still pieces scattered everywhere, a mess that neither of you seemed too bothered to clean up. It was one of those things you’d start but never quite finish—like most of your plans lately.
The sound of clinking dishes came from the kitchen as Jungkook rummaged through his cabinets. "Tea or coffee?" he called, breaking the comfortable silence.
"Tea," you answered, your voice quieter than you meant it to be. You rubbed your forehead, feeling the weight of everything pressing down on you all over again.
You heard him chuckle softly. "You okay in there? You’ve been weirdly quiet since you got here."
Was it okay? Not really. But you didn’t want to say that out loud just yet. "Yeah, I’m fine. Just... thinking."
"Thinking doesn’t look good on you," he teased as he stepped back into the living room, carrying two steaming mugs. He handed you one, sitting down next to you on the couch, close enough that his shoulder brushed yours. "Talk to me."
You took the mug from him, warming your hands on the ceramic before exhaling a long sigh. "It’s Jae-on."
There it was. His name, still bitter on your tongue, even after all this time. It had been over a year since Jae-on called off the engagement. A year and a half, actually, but who was counting? You, apparently. You hated that you were still thinking about him, that he still had some kind of hold over you, even though you both moved on.
Jungkook gave you a knowing look, resting his arm on the back of the couch as he turned slightly to face you. "What’s he done now?"
You hesitated, feeling the familiar knot of frustration and resentment tightening in your chest. "He’s... getting married."
Jungkook didn’t blink. "I see." His voice was calm, measured, like he was processing it carefully.
"And not just that," you continued, your fingers tightening around the mug. "They’re having a baby. Jae-on and Garam."
You said her name like it was a bad word, which, in your mind, it was. Garam. The girl from high school who always seemed to have her life together, who always got what she wanted, and apparently now, that included your ex-fiancé.
Jungkook raised an eyebrow. "Yu Garam? The one who used to follow you around like a puppy?"
"The very one." You groaned, sinking further into the couch. "Can you believe it? They’re throwing a baby shower, and guess who’s invited."
His expression softened, a flicker of understanding crossing his face. "You don’t have to go, you know."
"I know." You stared down into your tea, swirling it absently. "But part of me feels like... I should. Like I have something to prove."
"To Jae-on?"
"To myself, I guess." The words came out slower than you expected, as if you were admitting it for the first time. "I thought I’d have it all by now, you know? The husband, the kids, the house with the white picket fence. And instead, I’m sitting here... single. Childless. Invited to my ex’s baby shower." You let out a humorless laugh. "It’s ridiculous."
Jungkook was quiet for a moment, just watching you. His presence, as always, was steady, grounding. "It’s not ridiculous, Y/N. You had a plan. It just... didn’t go the way you thought."
You shook your head. "My plan’s been wrecked, Kook. Nothing’s gone the way I wanted it to."
"That doesn’t mean you can’t still have what you want," he said, his tone thoughtful. There was something about the way he said it, though, that made you glance at him, catching a glint of something unfamiliar in his eyes.
"What do you mean?"
He hesitated, like he was weighing his words carefully. "You want kids, right? You’ve always wanted to be a mom."
"Yeah... obviously." You frowned slightly. "But that’s not happening anytime soon."
"Why not?"
You blinked, unsure where this was going. "Because... I’m single? You kind of need someone to make that happen, Kook."
He shifted on the couch, leaning forward a little, his arm brushing against yours. The closeness felt... different. Warmer. He was looking at you in a way you couldn’t quite place, a softness to his gaze that made your stomach flip.
"You don’t need someone else," he said softly, his voice almost a whisper. "You have me."
You froze, your mind trying to catch up to what he was saying. "Wait... what?"
Jungkook smiled, a small, almost shy smile, which was so unlike him it threw you off balance. "I’m serious. You want a baby, right? Why not do it together?"
You stared at him, your heart suddenly beating louder in your ears. "Together? Like... us?"
"Yeah." His eyes were steady, sincere. "We’ve known each other for years. We’d make great parents. We don’t need to complicate things with romance or any of that. We could just... raise a kid together. Be a family."
For a second, you didn’t know what to say. The idea was... insane. Wasn’t it? And yet, as he sat there, his expression so earnest, so serious, you found yourself... considering it.
"But, Kook," you started, your voice shaky, "this is huge. I mean... having a baby? That’s not something you just... do."
"I know," he said, his voice still soft, his eyes never leaving yours. "But you’re my best friend. I’d be with you every step of the way. You wouldn’t have to do it alone."
Your mind was spinning. This was Jungkook. Your best friend. The one person who had been there for you through everything, and now... he was offering you something you hadn’t even thought was possible. A way to have the family you wanted without waiting for someone else to come along.
But was it really that simple?
Before you could respond, your phone buzzed on the coffee table. You glanced down and saw the email notification. You already knew who it was from.
"Baby shower," you muttered, picking up the phone and showing him the screen. "Jae-on and Yu Garam are sending invites."
Jungkook’s eyes darkened slightly as he looked at the email, then back at you. "Well," he said, his voice lower now, "maybe when we go, we’ll have our own announcement to make."
You blinked, your heart jumping at the sudden shift in his tone. Was he... serious?
"You really mean that?" you whispered, searching his face for any sign that he might be joking.
But his expression was calm, sure, and when he spoke again, his voice was firm. "I’m dead serious, Y/N."
The air between you felt different now—heavier, charged with something you couldn’t quite name. This was Jungkook, your best friend. The person you trusted most in the world. And yet, here you were, teetering on the edge of something that could change everything.
"Think about it," he said softly, leaning just a little closer, his eyes never leaving yours. "It could be exactly what you need."
