Potential shampoo allergy hack? Will be testing on myself lol.
I was looking on a website that sells ingredients to make soaps, lotions, etc. (I make my own lipbalm without my allergens in, it's really easy! Also those are good places to just get straight shea butter and shit if you have allergies.)
Anyways I noticed they sell plain "shampoo bases". And in the comments, people were saying that the shampoo base was the same as the body wash base.
So I looked at another brand that sells shampoo base, and it's the same as the body wash. And I watched a chemistry video about it (unrelated to the brands), and the chemist mentioned the same thing!
Apparently there are a bunch of formulations for shampoo base, but they seem to be interchangeable with body wash.
So like I'm over here thinking. Cetaphil baby wash and shampoo, a hypoallergenic, fragrance free product (which I might still be allergic too) is like $10 for 13 ounces. But Cetaphil ultra gentile bodywash which is also hypoallergenic and fragrance free, is just $7 for 16oz. And they have so many more body washes that are like a whopping 20oz per bottle.
For some people with dandruff, the ingredients that help are the same ingredients in some acne products. (like salicylic acid) They have an acne body wash, 2% salicylic acid $10 for 20oz. There's also fragrance free body wash for things like psoriasis and dry skin- two other things that cause flakes.
Idk I will update when I get my hands on some. But I do have very short hair, so if anyone else with longer hair wants to be a guinea pig with me, be my guest lol.
