Thoughts on 1.3

what it says in the title! these are subject to change/be updated as i do the companion missions. references to leaks re: jingliu's character stories are present as well.

one of the first most interesting things to me was Fu Xuan complaining about Jing Yuan's "violations," which, yeah. gestures at everything with the Stellaron Hunters. Gestures at him twisting Dan Heng's arm to get him to cooperate. But Fu Xuan further comments that the "Cloud Knight generals are such a hassle." Generals, plural. I wonder how much power they have? How often do they get away with these "violations"? How much power does Jing Yuan have, specifically? He's a legend, and a hero, and people tend to, I think, default to trusting him because he doesn't make (significant) mistakes, and letting things slide for that reason. Because Jing Yuan always has a reason for the things he does. At the same time, though, the Ten Lords' Commission is higher in status than even him. How much freedom do they allow him? Will he be punished at all for the strings he pulled?

On that note, too, I have to wonder again just how Jing Yuan, as a mere lieutenant, managed to sway the Ten Lords' Commission and convince them to give Dan Feng a lighter sentence. How did he sway them to lift Dan Heng's banishment? How many loopholes has he jumped through?

Utterly obsessed with the parallels between Blade in the Luofu arc's intro cutscene and the conclusion with Luocha.

To be more serious, I'm obsessed with the fact that Jing Yuan knew. I'm thriving with the Emanator Luocha agenda (hi Starry) but also the fact that Jing Yuan just knew and played along until Luocha revealed his true colors is so fucking tasty to me.

I'm also so fascinated by the fact that Jing Yuan didn't just attack him outright, and I have a few thoughts on that. One, I do like to think of Jing Yuan as someone who very much does not enjoy killing, as much as it is a very... well. very big aspect of his life and duty. But we can see this playing out with his mercy and generosity, and this cutscene is no different.

I also have a feeling Jing Yuan knew Jingliu was coming. We can see it in how he closes his eyes and braces himself, rather than seeming surprised like the Cloud Knights. He was expecting her to show up... he didn't even seem surprised at the mention of her in Yanqing's companion quest. He totally knew.

How much else do you know, Jing Yuan? I'm right back to the original question that's been fucking plaguing me since 1.1 o|< WHAT ARE YOU NOT SAYING????

I also wonder though just... why Jing Yuan is so wary of her? Like, what specifically did she do to be branded as a traitor? Aside from the whole mara thing, there's clearly more to this than they're giving us... I'm not of the belief that her ascending to take down the abomination Dan Feng created was reason to warrant any of that... so something must have happened afterwards. When was she labeled a traitor, even? Was it before or after that moment? The sedition was in 7379, and she broke out of the Shackling Prison in 7380, having been stricken. Was it within that one year or afterwards? How did she even recover (some of) her sanity wtf. She's clearly not the same. I wonder if Luocha had a hand in that at all. I wouldn't be surprised, honestly.

Speaking of Jingliu, I'm so,,, not over how she talks to Jing Yuan in that cutscene. Almost like she's talking down to a child. It's condescending I'm so sdlakhjdsalkfjha SHE SEEMS LIKE SHE'S PROUD OF HIM FROM HER STORY AND HER VOICELINES TOO (?) THOUGH SO,,, WHAT'S GOING ON THERE AAAAAAAA

I also. Have a feeling that Jing Yuan isn't specifically putting up a fight, because he knows that Jingliu's goals still, ultimately, align with the Xianzhou's (and that she doesn't harbor any sort of personal grudge), even if he clearly doesn't like any of what's going on. She wants to kill the Aeons. She wants to kill Yaoshi. That'd benefit the Xianzhou greatly, and Jing Yuan knows it. He's no fool.

I guess that's also why Luocha is teaming up with her (hi Starry we talked abt this too). He has clear disdain for the divine, I wouldn't be surprised if his vendetta would extend to wanting to witness the downfall of the Aeons. But also ouuughh the irony of him walking the path of Abundance but wanting Yaoshi dead ough OUGH OUGH Luocha ily

I wonder why they're approaching Jing Yuan in the Shackling Prison anyway. (Why is he in the Shackling Prison this time? Was he... waiting? It seems like it.) It feels like Luocha is there to rub it in his face. It seems pretty obvious he's also there (with Jingliu) to threaten Jing Yuan to not get involved... But knowing Otto Apocalypse, I wonder if it's more likely that he's there to propose some sort of alliance?

If that's the case I'm fucking TERRIFIED for Jing Yuan's life for the 4359672309875609875432th time. I just spent 40 days wondering if he'll be okay and NOW I GOTTA DO IT AGAIN?? NAW... OTTO DIDN'T FUCKING HESITATE TO DISPOSE OF HIS ALLIANCES AGUHLIHFKJLFSGWIUOH IM SO FUCKING STRESSED DUDE!!!!

The fact that we're receiving Nothing™ about Jing Yuan's companion mission, though, or his involvement in the history of the HCQ or-- anything, really, does lead me to be inclined to believe he's absolutely going to be playing a bigger part in the story. We still don't know enough about him. Hoyo's absolutely doing it on purpose. God I hope they don't kill him wtf
