While I know this is an "older" manga, anyone else excited for all the new shoujo and josei that are releasing this year? 🤩🤩🤩
Cheers to a new year that I hope will be full of physical shoujo license announcements, shoujo titles we love, and just overall more manga!

61. The Savior's Book Café Story in Another World, Vol. 3 - licensed - I read the first two volumes a while back and honestly could not remember anything from them, which tells you something, but I do like the relaxed vibe of a isekaied woman running a café with a hot fiancé.

The Savior’s Book Café Story in Another World vol 1 by Kuouka Izumi & Oumiya
5/5
Tumblr media
This review is for fan entertainment, I'm not being paid.
Now in my opinion, this is one of the best manga series I have ever read. I love this plot very much, it’s another Isekai, but the main character takes this in a different direction. The story and the reaction of the main character make it a little more believable.
Ok Tsukina is a 30-year-old office worker who is picked by God to go to another world and help stop darkness (you know the same story with other isekai) however Tsukina doesn’t want to go, she thinks that she too old and she wouldn’t be much help.
Now before you ask, no she is not tearing herself down, she has made a life for herself, and she is comfortable that she doesn’t want to go to another world. She thinks that it is best for younger people who still have wanderlust. Tsukina is a bit more logical than most characters in her position.
God says she has to go and that he will grant wishes for whatever she wants (however the other chosen people before her were under the idea that they get one wish, but they didn’t ask and God didn’t say anything). Tsukina settles on her fate, but she is not going to announce it to the world she is a Savior.
Tsukina thinks hard about her wishes, as she wants to be able to live and survive in a new world, Tsukina then ask that if the denizens of the new world know about Saviors in which god tells her a mark will appear on her whenever she does magic. To avoid being the unwanted attention which will also include a lot of stress, Tsukina ask for the mark to be placed on the back of her head underneath her hair. (God tells her that will glow when she does magic in which Tsukina tells him that she will have to be careful)
On to Tsukina’s second wish, she wants a café/house on the outskirts of the kingdom she is transported to. God decides to give her necklace that when she squeezes the pendent a search bar of a shopping site will pop up and she can make anything that she wants, food included too. Tsukina tacks on if she happens to lose the necklace it will come back to her.
Tsukina asks God if she will be able to do magic right away, much to God’s surprise (Tsukina is the only one that ask this question) he explains that she has unlimited MP (Magic Points) but she doesn’t know how to use the magic. He then goes on that there are books in the world that she can learn from or she can find a teacher.
This is a character I like; she is very careful of what she wants, and is thinking several steps ahead, she doesn’t want the fame that comes with being such a powerful being, she wants to live a quiet life running a book café. Tsukina is also thinking ahead if she must step in to help where she is able too.
After a brief shopping spree getting her house and café up and ready for customers, she also gets magic books to start studying. Tsukina then gets her first customer, his name is Il. Il is very soft spoken and stoic, he loves reading, so the café becomes his oasis away from the castle. God is watching the first interaction that Tsukina has and then remembers the last savoir is also in the same kingdom and they have become a problem.
Back to Tsukina and Il, Il enjoys his time at the café reading books that he is unable to get his hands on, having his horse eating the pasture that Tsukina set up, and enjoying tea and sandwiches that are being served. Il is also very unnerved by the level of magic that is being used on this café but that feeling quickly subsides, and dread takes its place when he leaves for the day and heads back to the castle.
I don’t want to give too much way of this series, but I like this series and the characters, the author of the story has made Tsukina a more mature character that doesn’t want the adventuring lifestyle that most younger people want. She wants to be able to live comfortably and be able to read books. As you read the first book you can understand the growing worry that Tsukina has that her secret will be found out and she is worried about the relationships that she has made will be in danger because of past saviors and how they treated the citizens of the kingdom.
Tsukina and Il interactions with each other is too cute you can’t help but want them to get together.

Reading Recap: July
Summer seems to have skipped over Scotland this month. It has been cold and gloomy despite being in the middle of the season. The closest thing we have had to summer weather is gross, muggy days. Oh well, they say it is going to be a lot nicer next month. I doubt that, but a girl can dream.  On to the books! Bloodlust and Bonnets by Emily McGovern Lucy, a young debutante in 1820, is bored with…

𓍢ִ໋☕️✧˚ ༘ ⋆ Diluc x reader, implied Diluc x reader, can be seen as gen?, gn!reader, café owner reader, sfw
Inspired by the manga The Savior's Book Café Story in Another World
━━━━⊱⋆⊰━━━━
It strikes Diluc as odd when, on his way home late from Angel's Share, he encounters a small establishment outside of Mondstadt city.
The sign in the front reads the name Lyu Café. The place open at this late hour and the only building in this part of the anemo country.
Diluc doesn't know why he entered or why he feels drawn to the place but the bell at the door chimes, announcing his welcome to anyone inside.
"Ah, welcome!" A voice speaks. The café is a small, intimate place. The ground scattered with odd chairs, tables, couches and beanbags. All of different fabrics and styles but yet adding to the aesthetic of disordered tranquility.
Diluc's eyes wander up to the only other person at the café this late, a person sitting behind the bar/kitchen area. What he could guess is the owner or employee.
The words spill out of his mouth before he can think to come up with a proper response to their earlier greeting.
"Is this your café?" He asks quietly, walking along the carpeted path to the food bar, his feet stopping as he hops up onto one of the stools. The stranger smiles, nodding their head as they slide over a clean and laminated menu to Diluc.
"Mhm! I'm the owner. This is actually Lyu Cafe's grand opening!" Diluc raises an eyebrow.
"A grand opening, at this hour and location?" He watches the stranger giggle and scratch the back of their head.
"I know, I know. But there's intention on how I run this place!" In between their conversation he takes a second to order something, picking whatever tea and baked good his eyes land on first. "And that intention is...?"
The owner smiles teasingly, giving Diluc a shrug. "You'll just have to be a regular to find out!"
Diluc huffs to that, a breath of air pushing out of his chest.
"Be that way," He mutters quietly. "The name is Diluc, I can't guarantee my loyalty yet."
"I'm Y/n, and I don't mind! Thank you for being the first Lyu Café customer!" They laugh again, turning away for a second to hand Diluc what he had previously ordered.
Maybe this new place isn't so bad Diluc thinks...

[First Tumblr writing post! I do plan to make this a series if it gets enough interest! I was thinking a slowburn with added vision user reader with some futui or Snezhnaya influence? So yeah! Thank you for reading (..◜ᴗ◝..)]

I've been passing the time reading lots of romance manhwas and mangas recently and I just have some recs for anyone interested!:
(A few small notes:
I'm not recommending any erotica/explicit mangas/manhwas mainly bc I don't really want to. Some of my recs will have scenes but it's definitely not the main focus. They're just not my cup of tea.
This includes multiple genres under the romance tag such as: historical, comedy, action, fantasy, and BL)
ANYWAY, HERE YOU GO:
"The Savior's Book Cafe Story in Another World" by Kyōka Izumi and Oumiya [MANGA, FANTASY, ISEKAI, ADULT ROMANCE, COMPLETE]
ASHDJI When I first began to read this, I was expecting a crap ML because I'm pretty used to the ML treating the FL like trash. But, nope! The FL, Tsukina Mizumori, is actually a competent adult! She gets transported into a new world as it's "savior" (sort of like how some stories will transport their MCs as saintess'), but she isn't interested in saving the world. Instead, she opens her very own book café! I won't say anything else bc it might spoil the story, but it's very fluffy and sweet! (WARNING: There is a second ML, but I doubt you'll get second lead syndrome and it doesn't interfere with the main couple! We love responsible, capable adults!)
Tumblr media
"Ooh La La" by Jemin [MANHWA, COMEDY, FLUFF, SLICE-OF-LIFE, COMPLETE]
I just happened to stumble upon "Ooh La La" online and I ended up really enjoying it! It goes through the ups and downs of a Gom-Yung and Min-Han's relationship, but with barely any angst. One of the most non-toxic couples I've read about! It's very slice-of-life-ish and a fun read!
Tumblr media
"Beta Off Not Dating" by Doojja, MINTRAN, Saena [MANHWA, ROMANCE, BL, OMEGAVERSE, ADULT ROMANCE, COMPLETE] [WARNING: MENTIONS OF SEXUAL ASSAULT AND ABUSE IN THIS PASSAGE]
I typically don't really like reading about the omegaverse because of non-consensual topics that are overlooked and dressed as "romantic" and "sexy" (and really, in the BL genre, this is quite common, unfortunately). But I believe that "Beta Off Not Dating" does a good job on addressing it! For the first time I've seen, the ML is a beta who isn't interested in dating after seeing the alpha/omega relationships around him go absolutely nuts. It's sort of like a parody of typical omegaverse manhwas and it doesn't dress heavy topics such as relationship abuse and sexual assault romantically. Instead, the ML recognizes them and addresses them accordingly (Note: the abuse/assault does NOT happen between the main couple. On another note: the side couple is toxic as hell and I would not recommend reading the sequel if you don't want to see them).
There is some explicit sex, but it also happens in the sequel :D (Is this really just me not recommending the sequel?? Ehhh yess?? Take this with a grain of salt bc it really just wasn't my cup of tea.)
Tumblr media
"The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity" OR, ALTERNATELY, "Kaoru Hana wa Rin to Saku" by Saka Mikami [MANGA, FLUFF, ROMANCE, SLICE-OF-LIFE, SCHOOL LIFE, ONGOING]
...This manga... is hands down one of the best mangas I've ever read. It's just so beautiful I can't even put it into words. The main couple isn't toxic, they genuinely love each other, and I really feel like I can see the awkward high schooler aspect without feeling like "Oh, that's- that's a toxic relationship right there". Not only the main couple, but all the side characters are so damn loveable that I just want to scream into the night about how I wish the best for all of them. It addresses the different issues and insecurities that the characters feel and makes them all feel real and well-rounded. This is probably one of the only mangas I would give a genuine 10/10. I'm SO serious when I say give this a read. I wish I could read this for the first time again. I felt like a changed person after reading it.
Tumblr media
"Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!" by Yuu Toyota [MANGA, BL, OFFICE LIFE, FLUFF, ADULT ROMANCE, ONGOING] [WARNING: BRIEF EXPLICIT MENTIONS]
The title may seem extremely suspicious, but I promise you it's not what it seems. Adachi Kiyoshi, the MC, turns 30 years old and, because he's still a virgin, gains the power to read minds when he touches someone. When he accidently bumps into his handsome co-worker that everyone seems to love, he finds out he's got a crush on him!
I really love this manga because the romance feels genuine and, for a genre that doesn't seem to care about consent, takes the relationship slow and both partners respect and love each other! Consent is key!!
(Is there sex scenes? Yes. Are they brief and not super explicit?? Also yes!)
I highly recommend this for those who want to read a good BL manga but don't want to just read sex. Each character grows as a person (and the side couple is cute, too!)
A 10 out of 10 from me!! (+ there's an anime if any of you are interested!)
Tumblr media
If you have any questions or want recs, don't be afraid to ask and I'll do my best to answer! Happy reading!

The Savior’s Book Café in Another World: Chapter 10 [Last Chapter]
INDEX || PREVIOUS
Chapter 10: Living Anew in This World [Last Chapter]
Translated by: sydney Proofread by: Necro
I jumped up to see his familiar face, smiling somewhat awkwardly yet warmly.
Along with the huge bouquet of flowers in his arms.
So that’s where the red color and nice smell were from.
“Ill?”
“Yeah, uh.... First, these are for you.”
“H-huh?”
My head is still reeling, but the flowers are pushed toward me, and laid on my lap.
Whether or not he knows I’m still in a panic, he grasps my hand.
It’s been awhile since I’ve held his hand.
He looks straight at me, and his eyes are just like always, filled with kindness and determination.
Even though he knows now that I’m a Savior, I don’t sense any feelings of rejection, and it's only the two of us in the café.
He brushes his free hand against my cheek softly, and I feel my cheeks heat up with a blush.
He’s looking at me like he can see right into me, and my eyes can’t leave him.
“You beat me to it, but that day I was planning to tell you too. But first, I didn’t tell anyone that you’re a Savior, and no matter what your answer is, I don’t intend to.”
His gentle smile is exactly the same as it was that night, when we were watching the aurora together.
“I like you. If it isn’t too late, if you still like me, I would like to court you.”
I don’t know if I’m struggling to process his words because I’m still low on magic or because I never thought I would hear them.
His words echo in my head, and the moment it makes sense my face heats up even more.
“Is it possible you might want that too?”
Without thinking, my body starts to pull away from him, only to be stopped by the firm hand holding mine.
The hand that I love.
“Even though, I was hiding something from you this entire time?”
“You mean about being a Savior? I was surprised, but after I thought about it, I only thought that I should have noticed from how strong your magic is, and the fact that you didn’t know about the biggest festival in the country.”
“Um, well, if this is just because you want me to cooperate with something, I’m not--”
“Surprisingly, that didn’t even occur to me. Do you know why I didn’t tell anyone that you’re a Savior? To put it plainly, the entire country is searching for you.”
“Huh?”
“Because of the Great Magic barrier in the sky, everyone knows that there’s another Savior other than that girl. The country wants to officially welcome you.”
I’m silent, my thoughts racing as I process the fact that my prediction was right.
Seeing my expression, Ill’s smile turned wry.
“Tsukina, you’re from a different world so you may not know, but in this world polygamy is perfectly acceptable so long as it’s mutual among those involved. And as a Savior who can use Great Magic, there will likely be numerous suitors coming from other countries to ask for your hand in marriage. Connections with a Savior is something every country is desperate for.”
“...huh?!”
“I don’t like the idea of that. I want you to be mine. I can’t even believe it myself, but that’s the only reason I’m keeping your identity secret.”
The heat doesn’t leave my face, and my hand feels hot in his grasp.
My heart is pounding so hard I feel like I might die.
“...are you sure?”
“Yes, that’s why I’m here.”
I had given up on ever seeing Ill’s smile again, but here he was, with the same smile right in front of me.
I place my hand over his on my cheek, as if to control my blurring vision.
This is completely beyond anything I could have hoped for.
But the only feeling in my heart is pure happiness.
“My feelings haven’t changed. So, um, I'd like to go out with you....”
I think the end of my sentence was nothing more than a whisper.
But seeing Ill’s happily smiling face, I realize that it really is mutual.
Not knowing where to look, I stare at the flowers in my lap.
I’ve never received such a big bouquet before.
Suddenly the outline of the flowers distorts in my vision.
This timing is awful, I think, overcome with drowsiness again.
“You still haven’t recovered your magic, right? You should rest.”
“But...you came all this way....”
Even before I can finish my sentence, my vision is starting to go dark.
“I took the day off, I’ll still be here when you wake up. This country’s peace is safe for the next several decades, and it’s all thanks to your Great Magic. You should take your time and recover.”
I see Ill smile and say, When you wake up we’ll talk, before I close my eyes.
He rubs my head gently, and it’s relaxing.
I surrender my body to the sleepiness, realizing the days I thought would never come back have now returned, even more blissful than before.
“Thank you for bringing peace to this country, my Savior.”
The corner of my mouth twitches with a smile as I use the last of my energy to say, “Stop, with, that....”
In the end, Ill really didn’t tell anyone about me.
He only introduced me to his childhood friend as his girlfriend.
It was the same blond man that I saw in the town running with incredible speed, and the same person that was on the other side of Ill’s transmitter during the incident.
He had a different kind of traditional handsomeness from Ill.
He’s probably popular, although he’s soon to marry the Princess.
And one thing that had changed since that day was that Ill and I officially became engaged.
Ill introduced me to his parents as well.
He took me to a village snowier than here, but warmer, where he grew up.
I was so worried about making a good impression, but Ill’s parents immediately welcomed me.
Or rather, they kind of pulled me into their family immediately.
The first few hours included them thanking me tearfully, explaining that they had given up on Ill getting married.
I ended up spending the entire time desperately trying to comfort them, while Ill sat next to me with a lifeless look in his eyes.
Having lost my parents at a young age, it’s been a long time since I had a mother and father.
I never would have expected that in a world different from the one I was born in, I would end up with a new family.
When I visit, they greet me with a Welcome home, and they’ve become very important to me.
My other new home, and my new family.
A new part of Ill’s life was moving to my café, and he started commuting from here to the castle for work.
Like living together before we get married.
I decided to take on the additional job of supplying the Knights with barrier charms and drinks with restoration magic as well.
Even if I can’t publicize that I’m a Savior, there are still things I can do for the people in this country.
The items I supply seem to be highly valued by the Knights, and along with the fact that I’m the Captain’s future wife, they’re very kind to me.
My life continues, filled with the happiness of being able to say Welcome home to the beloved person I met in this world, the person I came to love, while hiding that I’m a Savior.
The barrier is still there, but that doesn’t mean that all of the monsters have been eradicated, and there’s also some ‘Demon King’ out there.
Even so, while I know it’s selfish, I have no intention of changing the life I have right now, which is overflowing with happiness.
So to the Saviors in other countries, and the new Saviors that will probably be summoned from here on:
I leave protecting this world’s peace to you.
Because right now, I have my hands full protecting the happiness I have here.
“I’m home, Tsukina.”
“Welcome home, Ill.”
I savor the happiness I feel looking at his gentle smile.
From now on, until I die, I will live in this world.
But, I’m sorry.
I’ve decided I will leave the role of being a Savior to the young people.
Delicious food, a mountain of books, and a comfortable chair surrounded by antique decorations.
My book café, filled with the dreams that began in this world, and the person I love with all my heart.
In this world, in my ideal café, I will continue to live with the person I love, for now and forever.
