So. We all agree he never loved Sibyl, right? He refuses to think of her as a human being. To him, she is all the characters she plays and nothing more. As such, he can pretend she is whatever he wants. I'd say he's not even attracted to women because he only gained a greater interest in her when he saw her cross-dressing. It's so blatant.

He brags about her talent because it reflects well on him. Look at him! He's about to marry the most talented woman ever! Her skill, in his eyes, has the sole purpose of glorifying himself. No, all he cares about is his useless pride. He was going to raise her above her station and she repays him like this?! With one night of poor acting. God forbid if they had gotten married and she failed to keep up the sweetness of Ophelia or Juliet at all times of the day.
