Well guess the Easter Weekend Curse in my family is still ongoing... yay...

Context, every Easter weekend that I can remember, something bad happens.

Grandma got sick and went to the hospital, huge fight between my mom's brother in law and my dad, probably was when my dad and his dad had the fight that split them up until the end, aunt died, dad died, other aunt died, got hurt at the water park, family fight/rift BECAUSE we went to the waterpark instead of having our egg hunt (between extended family being immature. Yall could host one that's an idea). Uh family fight, family fight, another family fight (gee I wonder why we stopped doing the egg hunt).

Today's was just emotional blowup and minor breakdown (not ab DogCousin wgdgdgd dont worry)

And bonus: I guess easter was always when my moms oldest sister would run away. God forbid we spend ONE DAY not praising her and spend it focused on the resurrection of Christ. 🙄

Anyway it happens every goddamn year and it still surprises me every time 🙄🙄

Do they still get along now, or no?: relationship with both growing up was.... not great. he was kind of a little rebel and went against his parents’ general beliefs and rules a lot. he also suffered from feeling like he was living in his sister’s shadow so he acted up because of it. his parents didn’t really treat him badly? but compared to his sister, he felt as if they didn’t care about him. 

his father died when he was in high school and wasn’t really too torn up about it because their relationship was bad. he and his mom have had a strained relationship but now that he’s older he’s been trying to mend it. he still easily gets frustrated with her, but both of them try to understand each other. 

Where (and when) did they grow up? How did they view it as a child, and did that change as they matured? How do they feel about the place now?: kaali grew up in daly city, ca in the 90s-2000s. as a child he didn’t really have an opinion on it, as a teenager he was very “fuck this town and everyone in it” and now.... he’s neutral on it i guess. he doesn’t really care about the city itself, it exists and it’s just where his mom lives Describe their best and worst memories from childhood: hmm, probably a long-running one tbh. his parents didn’t like video games so he didn’t get to play them much growing up, but a friend from elementary school let him borrow their gameboy and pokemon blue version and it was like... the best experience ever for him.... he loved playing that game sooo much... babby’s first video game

now, for worst.. god. it was probably the day he really realized that his sister was kind of the star child compared to him. he was never the best student (he tried, but y’know) and he came home from school excited about getting a good grade on a test, something he didn’t achieve very often. problem was, his parents would kinda go “oh okay” and ask amara about her day and what she did and what she achieved. it was a build up of similar things, but that was the one day he can remember clearly and from that point he kinda gave up on trying to impress his family (and himself in the process)

What were they like as a child?: quiet and shy, but sweet. he mostly minded his own business, was easily overwhelmed and cried a lot How do they feel about their family? How does their family feel about them?: hmmmmmmmmmm mixed... feelings.... he’s very sentimental and wants to connect with his family, but he’s very different from them and it causes a lot of rifts. he has a lot of extended family in india that he basically resents bc they treat him badly. but his mom and sister he loves to death and wants to reconnect with them. the problem is that they expect very certain things from him that he just doesn’t want to do. they also care about him, they just have a hard time realizing that he’s gonna do what he wants and not change that. Do they have siblings/cousins?: younger sister, amara. and as mentioned above he has family in india including cousins but. i haven’t decided exactly how many or names or anything (they exist tho)
