I liked the tombs of atuan way more than a wizard of earthsea ngl 😳 okay the entire first half of the book is basically about nothing but the concept was so evocative, a lot more than the first for me. although there was an unexpectedly evangelical vibe to the like "let me rescue this backwards, desert dwelling foreigner from her 'religion' which is actually mistakenly worshipping real demons" thing but yay finally a female character with more than 3 lines hype

#the race moments were a little weird in many ways I csnt lie #like i get the kargish ppl have light skin but #you still made a weak backwards greedy and religiously warped ethnicity that needs to be civilised by outsiders #and the fact they were racist to the... I forget what the not-kargish ppl were called..#was a little uncomfortable to read bc if u hadn't read the first book it just comes off as like legit racism a little #I don't think it added much to have them every 5 pages to be like lets talk abt how dirty and disgusting and barbarian the dark skinned ppl #are. like was it necessary 😭#also the way she described the eunuch was weird #anyway
