the fall semester only started in october, when our girl #veronicalodge, thankfully, decided to roll back into town. things tend to get dull without the previous monarch on our radar.

“Oh, my God. Someone saw Veronica at Grand Central!”

weirdly enough, there was no previous word on veronica’s return, not even to the new queen of spence herself #cherylblossom.

“Veronica Lodge! I heard whisperings.”

we can’t be the only ones not believing she’s left her bad girl ways in the past, growing curious and curiouser as to what brought v back to her former kingdom.

“We’ll see what she’s really after. I don’t buy the reformed act. Maybe we’ll get her retreating to the hole she crawled out of.”

veronica’s relationship with her bff, #bettycooper, suffered through space and time. while our favorite duo struggled, cheryl appeared to pick a side, but we have our ideas of why. threatened much, queen c?

“Stop pretending you care about Betty, Cheryl. You and I both know that your fight is with me. That you’re just afraid now that I’m back I’ll want to take the crown because you know it was never meant to be yours, to begin with.”

the big question “why did she return?” remained unanswered as we still wondered “why did she leave in the first place?”

“Please. I’ve read every single blast about you in the Blue and Gold, followed the hashtag for months. You’re all everyone talked about when I transferred to Stonewall last year.”

little did everyone know the reason behind veronica’s mysterious disappearance was five-foot-eleven, red hot, and considered forbidden fruit.

“Ronnie—”

“No. No. We can’t do this.”

“But you’re back now.”

“I didn’t come back for you! Look, Betty is my best friend and you’re her boyfriend, and she loves you. That’s the way things are supposed to be.”

golden boy #archieandrews had been good girl #bettycooper’s boyfriend since forever. with his guilt eating him alive, he ended up blurting out the truth to b.

“Remember last year? At Ollie’s wedding?”

“That was it? You two kissed?”

which sent her into a spiral, resulting in some shocking news for everyone...

“You know, Veronica has only been going to the center to support her mother. She's the one in treatment. How could you guys stoop so low?”

“Hermione is in treatment?”

“Yes. She almost died. This is why Veronica’s back, not to be in a catfight with you.”

...and the end of #barchie as we knew it.

“We don’t love each other, Arch.”

“We do.”

“Yes. But we’re not in love with each other.”

once the boy-and-girl-next-door parted ways, a and b started seeking out friends both new...

“Dude. Why were you talking to that weirdo, Jughead Jones?”

...and old.

“Sometimes… It’s hard to admit things to yourself, you know. A lot has changed in my life while you were gone. And the hardest thing was realizing that Archie and I just… Didn’t belong together. And it’s not only because of you. What happened only pushed me to see the truth.”

and #varchie was gone before they even saw the light of day.

“Archie and I talked and we both decided we need to learn from this. And I know that you want me to be happy. But I want you to be happy too. It’s my priority, B. I’m choosing us.”

...right?

“We can’t be together. We’re not right.”

“We’re right. We’re just not now.”

it surely does look like our favorite people ever are trying to grow up while b is working on separating who she thought she was with who she really is.

“I think… finding out new things about you just makes me realize that I have a lot to learn about myself, too.”

and truth is, she isn’t alone in her new endeavors.

“Weatherbee said I should apply for some extracurriculars and I heard you were looking for someone to help you out here at the paper?”

“Forsythe Jones?”

archie has shown us a completely new side of him.

“Your music is good. You should get a real shot at doing what you’re meant to.”

queen c admitted that the top doesn’t have to be so lonely.

“You were right about me giving Veronica Lodge special treatment.”

“So, you assume that she might be out there to steal your crown after all?”

“No. I don’t think that’s what she’s after. I always respected her as a queen. I’m not going to treat her like a minion, because she’s my friend. The only one I’ve really had for a long time.”

and v is definitely trying to rebuild her reputation.

“I need you getting serious, Veronica. No more fooling around. We can’t afford any setbacks.”

“I’ve turned a new leaf, Daddy. I promise you. No more scandal.”

now that the seasons have changed and all the leaves are gone, what can we expect? a cruel winter, or white wonderland? what we do know, is that our tea will never get cold. xoxo @blueandgold
