Bought a DVD/BluRay player and Network’s remastered blu rays of The Professionals. And guess what? They’re BRILLIANT!
I only ever saw copies of copies of VHS tapes and so had to take it on trust that Doyle’s eyes were green and Bodie’s blue!
Look, if ever anyone needed to be seen in all their bright, colourful beauty, it’s both these lads!

The actress Rona Anderson was born August 3rd 1926 in Edinburgh.
Rona was born in Edinburgh, started acting at an early age, training at the Glover Turner Robertson School in her home town. From 1945 until 1949, she was a member of the Citizens' theatre, Glasgow. Her first film role was as one of the passengers in the spy thriller Sleeping Car to Trieste. Her second was opposite her future husband, Gordon Jackson in Floodtide, a romantic drama set and shot mainly on Clydeside.
Rona Anderson acted with her husband again in The Prime Of Miss Jean Brodie and in a BBC2 version of Somerset Maugham’s Rain, with Carroll Baker as Sadie Thompson. A 1983 episode of the action series The Professionals, in which Jackson starred as the head of the unorthodox law enforcement agency CI5, featured Anderson as the mother of a stalking victim; her casting was kept secret from Jackson until the first day of shooting.
Anderson took fewer roles after her marriage to Jackson, to concentrate on bringing up their two sons. From time to time through her career, Anderson returned to the stage. At the 1960 Edinburgh festival, she appeared in the Scottish poet Sydney Goodsir Smith's epic historical play The Wallace; she was in the first stage production of Brian Clark's Whose Life Is It Anyway? at the Mermaid theatre, London, in 1978, in a cast headed by Tom Conti and Jane Asher; and in 1981, she played the mother of Diana, princess of Wales in the Ray Cooney comedy Her Royal HighnesS at the Palace theatre, London.
Rona passed away on July 23rd 2013 in London, she was 86.

BistoCon 2024 Con Report
Banner art by Suzan Lovett
BistoCon is a slash convention for fans of 1977 British crime drama, the Professionals. Traditionally held every two years in Romulus, Michigan, Virtual BistoCon was created in 2020 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Virtual BistoCon uses a mix of common community collaboration platforms to bring Pros fans from all over the world together for two glorious days of panel discussions, vid shows, games, and fun.
Here's a quick con report on what happened this year - August 9 and 10, 2024.
In the days leading up to BistoCon, the schedule, links, and bingo cards began to arrive in my inbox. It's go-time when those bingo cards show up!
The program is scheduled heavy for both days. This accommodates convention-goers in different time zones while offering hour-long chunks throughout the day where you can eat, nap, whatever.
Day 1: Welcome - Catching up with the early bird arrivals and remembering the people our fandom lost since we last gathered. Welcome sessions repeated later in the day.
Episode Watch/Episode Discussion - 4 sessions. Watch, squee, critique, repeat! You can find The Professionals on YouTube, on TubiTV in the US, Region B discs from Amazon, or, if we're moots, hit me up.
Panel topics: Reality in Fic and Nurturing Fandom
Day 2 started hella early for me, but the good thing was that I could attend in my PJs while I brewed my morning coffee!
Episode Watch/Episode Discussion - 4 sessions. On both days, some of the discussions were full on, hour-long, guided sessions while others were shorter blocks of discussion between scheduled events.
Panel topics: The Importance of Setting, Traits of a CI5 Agent,Fic Recs, Secondary Characters
Funtime: Bingo! Pictionary!
Vidshows: Two vidshows this year, featuring classics both old and new from the long vidding tradition of Pros fandom. Plus two brand new premiering vids from kat-byrd and JinkyO!
I usually come out of a con feeling energized and excited about being part of a community. My 2023 was devestating and I did no fan stuff. 2024, it was important for me to hit up the cons that feed my soul - BistoCon does that for me year after year.
Learn more about the next BistoCon at their website, socials, Discord, and mailing list: https://bistocon.org/wp/

Watched the last episode of The Professionals, and what can I say
The episode's end was cut down again, like so many times before, except this is the finale, which shouldn't been left like this.
There wasn't any solution/relief progress from the emotional stress, trauma and doubts they faced in this episode related to their professional.
It was a really rotten thing Cowley pushed the duty, his duty onto Doyle, to notify the widow about losing her husband. It was rotten and wrong both morally and professionally. There are important reasons and rules why it's a work for superiors and not for colleagues. Pushing it onto Doyle wasn't just unprofessional but unnecessarily cruel to the man. The guy isn't his substitute in learning to justify why it was him and not Cowley who needed to do it.
The big twist Doyle came up with about how to trick the baddie with the time was a clever idea, but I already seen it played out in Criminal Minds, although it's not the pros's fault I seen that one first way before this.
The bomb in the car at the end, which went off and killed another man? All while Cowley was on the scene? Disappointing. Common logic and ages-old military tactic tells they to blow up a bomb (with any vehicle the bomb was planted in) if it can be safely fenced off and separated from public. It was separated behind barriers. There was no reason for the guy to go to the bomb, especially as it was time set. They had the robot to check if it was the bomb they were looking for, and they got visual confirmation via the robot's camera. The guys death was totally unnecessary and moron, as even Cowley could've put a stop on it but he didn't.
The whole ending was just unresolved emotional agony, anger and bitterness, both for the characters and the audience. So so disappointing. I grieving the ton of enjoyment this show birthed in the viewers, the many moment of epicness and the SO many potential this show left untouched.

Playing Tears of the Kingdom has brought back a lot of what fuelled my brain when Breath of the Wild came out and one of those things is a Professionals AU and now I’m like Fuck, I have the write the Breath of the Wild origin story for these two before I write the adventure of Tears of the Kingdom where Bodie and Doyle are almost an old married couple.
It’s maddening.
I’m thinking BOTW’s Doyle is a self-made researcher who goes off into the wilderness in search of the second half of a puzzle he found near his home of Riverside Stable when he runs into Bodie, an adventurer for hire with a dark secret.
TOTK Bodie and Doyle work for CI5, a special unit within Zelda’s new research task force which is sent into the more dangerous territories as these researchers are trained in combat. When the Upheaval happens and Link and Zelda go missing, Bodie and Doyle are sent into the Depths to try and solve the mystery.

Title: 'Bodie and Doyle Gimme Your Love' Vidder: zzebeddy Relationship: M/M Characters: Bodie/Doyle Rating: Not rated
Summary: Ray and Bodie find their groove, together.
I found this music track to be an irresistible scaffold for a 7Os/Pros-y adventure, however it didn't lend itself to shortening, so it ended up being a little longer than the projects I usually take on.
Playback tip: For best viewing, be sure to choose the 1080p HD setting on the Youtube player. (Click the settings wheel, click 'quality')
For now, this is an 'unlisted' video, which means it can be viewed via my archive/journal/fan comm posts, but not through general internet or YT searches.
Disclaimer: I do not own the show, characters or music. The music track is 'Gimme Your Love' by Morcheeba.

I'm a little late to the game, but I'm taking part in the qooc oc challenge and today's is 'make something for an oc you've neglected lately', so here is a moodboard for Marie Douglas, my OC for The Professionals who I haven't written for in around 3 years (and who's WIP is still very much in progress). An ex-spook who worked for MI5 for nine years, in 1979 she was recruited by George Cowley to join CI5. She initially comes off as quiet and reserved, but in reality she highly alert at all times, willing to put in the hard work, and able to use people's assumptions about her to her advantage. She's built up a number of contacts over the years, but only some she would truly call friends - and though they intially get off to a rocky start, Bodie and Doyle are soon counted among their number along with a few other agents. For Marie, nothing is more important than friendship, and she will always step in to protect them.
Let me know if you want to be added to the taglist!
