bubbles headcanons
random collection of them bc I haven't done one of these in a whileee!!!!!
does a LOT of cute nail art, and tries to do it on her sisters who are both incredibly reluctant (buttercup because its 'not her style', and Blossom because she finds it incredibly impractical for monster-fighting. and whatnot)
very occasionally her sisters let her though, and she acts like its a dream come true
VERY into happy silly pop music
looooooves baking so much and is over ambitious when it comes to the things she bakes
will enlist her sisters to help her bake the most difficult recipe for the professors birthday every year. results aren't always perfect, but the professor will always act as though its delicious of course
had a slime business in elementary school duh
dream job is to work in one of those jellycat cafes
can sing super well!!!! bit of a theatre kid, not obsessively though
starts compulsively singing Christmas songs as early as September. this annoys her sisters so terribly
loves old Disney channel shows/movies like high school musical and constantly binges them
lovessss painting. constantly working on very large scale projects. she finds realism boring, goes for bolder, more colourful styles
every single piece she has ever worked on since she was 5 is up in that house somewhere. bless the professor
cares about her dad and sisters more than anything. shes not afraid to go off on someone if they do wrong by her family. in this sense she can even seem scarier than buttercup.
hmmmm more to come laterrr!!!! and also the other girls

Profiles in Villainy
HIM
The devilish presence known only as HIM is a demonic entity who has set his twisted sights on tormenting the heroic Powerpuff Girls. Although HIM possesses vast supernatural powers, he prefers psychological tactics and has endeavored to coerce and manipulate others into doing his sinister bidding.
HIM is aware of the tremendous good that Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup have brought about and his goal has been to somehow drive the sisters apart and put an end to this goodness. This has involved such devious plots as possessing Bubble’s favorite stuffed animal, tempting Buttercup toward the path of villainy, and trying to cajole the sisters into questioning Blossom’s qualities as a leader. Fortunately, all of these efforts have proven ineffective and the heroines have been able to resist HIM’s devilish powers.
The villain has been voiced by actors Tom Kane and Nolan North. HIM first appeared in the Powderpuff Girls episode, ‘Octi Evil,’ airing on December 2nd, 1998.

Graduated in 2000. No, absolutely not. Even being gay was a dangerous thing at that time. Matthew Shepard had been murdered in 1998.
We all knew about gay people, though it wasn't like you were supposed to be gay. They existed but it wasn't "right." It was weird. There were slurs. There was a game called "smear the queer." There were jokes--there were so many jokes.
So the idea that you could be born in one shape but feel like another inside was absolutely alien at the time. The idea that there were identities outside of the male/female dichotomy was downright bizarre. The structure of "boy" and "girl" was absolutely socially enforced.
I'll put it this way: the fact that I committed the sin of being "too tall" meant that I was somehow a lesbian. I am not a lesbian. But because I was assumed to be one, I got teased mercilessly. (I'm actually ace but I didn't even have that term until about 2007 when I was well into my 20s. I referred to myself as "anti-romantic" until then but I still wanted a boyfriend because if you were a girl with a boyfriend, then you were acceptably feminine.) Yeah, sometimes I would say that I wish I had been born a boy but only because boys just had it easier. (My relationship to gender is actually more complex.)
We had this annual thing called the "powderpuff football game" where girls played (flag) football and boys dressed up like cheerleaders. And they'd often wear their cheerleading outfits to school the day of the game, with all the badly-applied makeup and awful wigs and ridiculous clothes. They'd speak in falsetto and giggle. Because it's fine for girls to dress up kind of boyish (within reason; too boyish and you're a lesbian, you're a dyke) but if you're a boy, you have to exaggerate "girl stuff" so no one things you're...a tr*nnie--which was short for "transvestite" at the time. Other terms (slurs) at the time included "ladyboy," and "shemale." You'd hear things being said to goth kids like "You're wearing nail polish? What are you, a fucking shemale?" Goths were pushing the envelope, thank God.
There were jokes on television every night that made fun of men wearing women's clothes or even enjoying "feminine" things. It was on "family-friendly" shows like Family Matters and Home Improvement. We were still in the era of Some Like It Hot.
The closest thing to someone in my life who was trans was Doctor Frank from Rocky Horror. No, seriously: the "sweet transvestite from transsexual Transylvania-haha" was maybe the only one. And, yes, the character is depicted as outrageous but not the same as most punchlines. That movie is intensely important to a lot of queer people. Do not speak ill of it.
I hung out with the theater kids, some of whom were definitely gay but were very much in the closet and maybe some were trans but were even deeper in the closet, and we'd go to the midnight showing of RHPS after the Saturday night performance of that semester's show. The more outrageous you were dressed, the better. Hotpants! Bustiers! Corsets! Fishnets! Lipstick! Leather dog collars! We could've come from a production of Cabaret instead of The Music Man by the end of it. And we were all okay with it! Because that's just what you did. But it was likely one of the few opportunities for some of us to dress in ways that were closer to what we wanted. (I was too shy for it, unfortunately.)
So there were pockets of acceptance for the gay kids, but being trans? No. Being trans, which was understood at the time as being a man wearing women's clothes, was still regarded as a punchline.
Being trans was like wearing a huge "kick me" sign--only it wouldn't just be a kick. It would be so much worse. There were trans kids, but there was no way to admit it without taking your life into your hands. Matthew Shepard was killed for being gay. Can you imagine would happen if you said you were born a boy but were really a girl?
So, Gen Z? Take care of your trans friends. Take care of your GNC friends. Take care of your NB and gender-fluid friends. Because their predecessors had it so hard and the kids now don't deserve any of it.
I graduated high school in 99.
There was a student at our school named Wayne.
Wayne was gay. It was obvious. He was unable to stay in the closet even if he wanted to. To make matters worse, he was also Black. From a bullying standpoint, that was not a great combo. Both Black and white students made fun of him relentlessly. He was ostracized from the only community that may have given him protection. Only us theater kids stuck up for him, but not to significant effect.
Wayne was bullied so much that at one point he finally snapped and attacked his bullies with a lunch tray. I was actually seated in perfect line of sight and just sat there chewing my soggy fries in stunned silence. It didn't even seem real as I was witnessing it. The image of him wailing on his main bully as the food on his tray flew off is permanently logged into my long term memory.
The bully he attacked had blood all over his face and went straight to the nurse. Other than superficial cuts, he was not injured.
Before the attack, Wayne went to teachers for help. He went to guidance counselors for help. He went to the principals for help.
He did all of the things you were supposed to do. No one helped him. They wagged a finger at the bullies and warned them to stop.
Wayne's lunch tray melee was the only thing that worked. His bullies stayed far away from him. But a week later Wayne was expelled and the bullies were given no punishment.
So... no.
No one in my school talked about being trans.
Because the only way to survive being openly queer was to bash people with a lunch tray.

Soft-Amerime
Definition - another term created by the author, “Soft-Amerime” is meant to categorize Western animation that is a little more subtle in referencing anime in their art, but includes more elements of anime in their writing, animation, jokes, themes, and direction. Most would regard such shows as not anime at all, but just shows influenced by anime.
In researching different Western animated shows that could be considered American anime or Amerime, I began to notice the different ways shows could maybe be categorized by the ways and degrees a show is influenced by Japan. So, I categorized these in 3 different types - Classic, Soft, and Hybrid.
Soft-Amerime can be the hardest to discern since you do not always find such easy to-see anime characteristics like with classic-Amerime. Anime characteristics will surface over time, the common ways including gags from the show that reference or take on similar comedy from gag manga, direct references to manga or anime, theme similarities, and how a show is directed.
Examples -
- Steven Universe (2013)
- OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes (2017)
- Bee and Puppycat (2013)
- The Powderpuff Girls (1998)
- Star vs. the Forces of Evil (2015)

A list of well known Animation Studios and Animated Movies
I came across this site while searching for some 2D animations and I found it useful to know a bit more about some of these studios. The list is called The 50 Best Animation Studios in The World.
https://www.gamedesigning.org/animation-companies/
1. Pixar- On their site it says that it’s ‘an American computer animation film studio...The Walt Disney Company bought Pixar in 2006, and currently owns the studio’. (Source: http://pixar-animation.weebly.com ). Below is an interesting video I found quite sometime ago, as I am subscribed to this channel, while I was just doing some research which explains their story well. It’s a fascinating struggle from which 3 people created the studio, John Lasseter described in the video as the artist, Ed Catmull described as the scientist and Steve Jobs as the business man. The idea of a film from a toys point of view to Disney was pitched, they were on board. Pixar had a set of rules to differentiate from the well known classic Disney film, amongst the rules were no songs and no love story. After bashing heads with Disney production ended but Jon never gave up. It took almost 5 years of making to became a success but that wasn’t the end as based on a deal made with Disney the videos says that Pixar ‘didn’t have the right to the profits for the merchandise’. Further problems with Disney occurred and only after a change of leadership from Disney’s behalf did the future look bright.
youtube
2. Walt Disney Animation Studios- The game designing.org site describes the studio as ‘Disney’s acclaimed studio has been making feature films since 1937... They have been behind some of the highest grossing animated films of all time, including The Lion King and Aladdin’.
3. DreamWorks Animation- produced work such as Chicken Run along with Aardman Animations. Shrek, How to Train Your Dragon, Madagascar and others. Wikipedia mentions that ‘DreamWorks Pictures is an American film production label of Amblin Partners. It was formerly distributing its own and third-party films by itself’ and that it was founded in 1994.
4. Studio Ghibli- The gamedesign site explains that ‘Out of the 15 top grossing anime films made in Japan, eight of them have been their work’. Animations such as Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle and My Neighbour Totoro. Wikipedia states that it was founded in 1985.
5. Cartoon Network Studios- Shows such as The Powderpuff Girls, Adventure Time and Dexter’s Laboratory. Founded in 1994, wikipedia.
6. Blue Sky Studios- Horton Hears a Who!, Ice Age and Robots. From their site it states ‘In February 1986, six of these innovators sat together in a cramped apartment and fueled only by their determined enthusiasm, decided to pool what little money they had to start their own computer animation company’.
7. Nickelodeon Animation Studios- Spongebob Squarepants, Farly Odd Parents and founded in1990, wikipedia says.
8. Warner Bros Animation- The gamedesigning site mentions that ‘They grew to compete directly with Disney thanks to Looney Tunes and its popular characters like Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck’. Founded in 1980, wikipedia.
9. Aardman Animations- They are very well known for their stop motion animation from Wallace and Gromit to Morph. Gamedesigning site says ‘Although they do a lot of television series and short films, Aardman Animations has collaborated with DreamWorks Animation’.
After that the site also recommended this related topic named The 100 Best Animated Movies from this link https://www.gamedesigning.org/best-animated-movies/
I decided since I’ll be focusing on 2D Characters that I would make note of a few from this list which I like as reference. Beside it I will also write what was said on the site.
101 Dalmatians- Disney 1961
Fantasia 2000- Disney 2000
Spirited Away- 2002 Disney, Studio Ghibli as the production company
Beauty and the Beast- 1991 Disney
The Lion King- 1994 Disney
The Little Mermaid- 1989 Disney
Princess Mononoke- 1999 Miramax
Anastasia- 1997 20th Century Fox
The Simpsons Movie- 2007 20th Century Fox
Mulan- 1998 Disney
I made a start on this little list as I need to have in mind a few characters I am interested in in 2D animation to do more research on them.
