1, 2 and 40 on the questions I think would be fun to be asked???
what are 3 things you’d say shaped you into who you are?
aaaa this question is so personal i apologise in advance for ranting lmao. these kind of questions also make me forget everything related to the question lolll lemme think.
i think one of the biggest things in my life that made me who i am today is the death of my best friend. that's what made me turn to writing and poetry, as not to drown in grief hahah anyway next thing. hmm. i moved around a lot (still do ig) which makes it hard for me to put down roots and establish deep connections with people and places because im like i will move in a year anyway so what's the point lol. that's why i still havent put up any of my posters and other things in my room despite living there for like a year now. i know this isnt really a good thing lol but i feel like this says a lot about me? idk. and last thing that shaped me into who i am is gonna be very basic but my family lol. i wouldnt be who i am because of them. whether it's a good thing or a bad one i dont know but im still grateful for them.
2. show us a picture of your handwriting?
i kinda dont have anything to write on at the moment so have this blurry pic of my annotations of a poem lol
Tumblr media
40. any bad habits?
ive already answered this one here :) (but short answer: yes)

serious, important, gigantic question i have . how do i start writing poetry? i'm really interested but just can't get myself started, lol. also what're some of ur fav books currently? i'm trying to get more into literature. love ur blog btw!
oh I love this question!!
I believe becoming a poet begins with being an avid reader. Once you develop a love for reading, writing will come naturally as you start to note simple observations from your daily life or random thoughts that come to mind... As you continue to write, you'll gradually develop a better understanding of words. This will allow you to become more discerning in your writing, carefully selecting words and being mindful of how you structure your sentences to convey emotions and imagery... slowly You'll probably begin to dip into poetry, even if it's terrible at first, it's a necessary stage that everyone goes through (I could write an entire post on why creating bad art is so critical lol). The key is to keep writing. Write. Write. Write. And write. It's strange how addictive writing becomes once you get the hang of it… this year alone, I wrote hundreds of poems!!
So to summarize: Reading -> writing -> Poetry
here are some writers and writings I'd recommend to anyone who wants to get into poetry:
(I got a bit carried away while writing this list lol…)
T.S. Eliot: The Waste Land, The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, Four Quartets
Edgar Allan Poe: The Raven, Annabel Lee, The Tell-Tale Heart
Homer: The Odyssey
Walt Whitman: Leaves of Grass, Song of Myself
Dante Alighieri: The Divine Comedy (includes Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso)
John Milton: Paradise Lost
Geoffrey Chaucer: The Canterbury Tales
Emily Dickinson: Because I could not stop for Death, Hope is the thing with feathers, I’m Nobody! Who are you?
Sylvia Plath: Ariel, Lady Lazarus, Daddy
Maya Angelou: Still I Rise, Phenomenal Woman, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings (autobiographical prose)
Elizabeth Barrett Browning: Sonnet 43 (How Do I Love Thee?), Aurora Leigh (a novel in verse)
my personal obsession lies in ancient poetry (Greek, to be specific), though I understand that it may not be everyone's cup of tea. But if you want to know more about that — or have any more literature-related questions in general — please let me know or send me another ask, and I'll be happy to share more!! <3

14 & 17 for the jjk ask?? hope youre doing wellll <33
hii!!
14. Would you rather have Sukuna as a roommate or fight Mahito one-on-one?
one of my favourite questions from the ask btw, bc i do have a roommate and my patience's been tasted sooo many times, i think i'm choosing sukuna as a roommate because, honestly, the chances that he's going to sing, pretending to be taylor swift, are low. and that's my no.1 criteria. besides, i think we both tend to come across as self-important and endlessly bored, so a lot of possibilities for clashing in heated disputes (which are my guilty pleasure).
17. Match your favorite JJK character with a song.
the problem is, i have a lot of favourite characters😔😔
i think, i'm going to match a few:
damon albarn - the selfish giant, for megumi
«i had a dream that you were leaving, where every atom falling in the universe is passing through our minds <...> press yourself to me right now, push yourself deep down now, to the dark hills I must go, where the shadows hide»
i think the song matches him as it tackles the theme of fear of abandonment, plus, it was inspired by Oscar Wilde's fairy tale, and megumi is a certified bookworm, so... also, it's probably one of my favourite songs.
sufjan stevens - all of me wants all of you, for gojo
«traced your shadow with my shoe, empty outline changed my view, now all of me thinks less of you»
self-explanatory. despite gojo's presence being so monolithic in the story and him being so powerful, there are things much greater than him and imo this song is good at talking about such feelings - being immobilized and small.
andrew bird (feat. phoebe bridgers) - i felt a funeral, in my brain, for yuuta
«and then I heard them lift a box and creak across my soul with those same boots of lead, again, then space began to toll»
it's an emily dickinson's poem, beautifully put in music. i'm sure yuuta both suppresses a lot of his thoughts and feelings, and acts mostly out of love, resulting in him being a prisoner of his own mind. the poem being quite existential, it fits him well.
thank you and thanks for the ask!❣️

i woke up, went on tumblr.com like one does, and the first thing i see is “to you, with love” reblogged for me.
so i closed the app. screamed a bit into a pillow. and came back to write this.
THE THING IS.. i read that work, im pretty sure i even left an ask but it was more shy, timid (?)in a sense - “thank u, this was beautiful ,i cried.”cuz i was overwhelmed lol <- the lol is to make is seem more causal as if my heart didnt feel like it was punched ^^
but i remember vividly going through heeseung hashtag and seeing this for the first time.. and the title was cute, i was like “oh fluff”. i had not read the genre or warnings notes before diving into it….
so u can imagine my reaction to this sentence…
“however, heeseung’s death changed that for you.” BTW  ofc the best time to read angst its dead into the night with taylor swift playing on my headphones :>
if i remember correctly, you deleted it (?) and then posted it again? i read it the very first time it was uploaded. this might have been a changing point cuz i didn't read angst.. not in it full potential like that before this and know im knees deep
i finished reading it. and time kinda froze. the concept of hearing the voice of the love of your life. when things were good, were fine. i wept. BUT hearing them talk about what future could hold for both of u? knowing what u know now? literally curled with my phone in my hand and bawled my eyes out
promises… the forever heartbreaking factor of life.. what are they? meant to be broken or kept.. maybe neither.. i hate them… they give false hope for those who long and yearn to be reassure and make u believe that a single person could hold such a power over the universe… well, heeseung certainly couldn't.. no matter how genuinely his heart was beating while he said “forever”
wow, im in my feels again, i just loved it, truly loved it and cherished it for so long, in my own little world with spiraling thoughts about this,
thank u thank u thank u  thank u!!!!!!!!!!! ur works mean the world to me
im sorry for making u sad with my ask, but i cant help it :] u made me feel too much !!!!!!!!!!
i loved the poem. the flashbacks from the fic hit me like a truck. whats ur favorite poem? ^^ i would love to read some if u have a recommendation
thanks for the little career stuff note, i appreciate it a lot truly
thank u in general, ure the coolest writer,  love u too
ps. hee angst ?? i might die tho
                                               - > swift anonie ♡♡♡
ANON MAY I INTEREST YOU IN ANOTHER THOUGHT I HAD . about 'to you, my love' being set after 'if lovesick was a person' 😁😁 IT FITS SO WELL im so devastated actually . and that's why they tell u to read the warnings but who am i to say bc i straight up jump to the content ( i like surprises ) also i didn't delete it, my brother deleted my whole acc before i remade under the same user and reposted it 😭 oh but im so honoured that was the beginning of your angst reading arc, you should not be missing out on such a genre
and ur thoughts on promises, umm i can't say you're all wrong but i think they can serve as a driving force to do something? like some sort of motivation, or a reason idk . obvs, not saying that empty promises should be made. actually i dont have any opinion here, head empty. please never apologise for sending sad asks or wtv, i enjoy reading ur thought processes ure really really cool 🫵💗 as for poem recs hmm; i wandered lonely as a cloud by willian wordsworth, cadabianca by felicia dorothea hemans, la belle dame sams merci by john keats, rain before dawn, on a play twice seen and marching streets by fitzgerlad ( anything by him and emily dickinson is worth reading ) that's all i have on the top of my head
and no, thank u for taking ur time to write these asks, you're even cooler than me fr ☝️

Because the Bee may blameless hum by Emily Dickinson: an Analysis
Summary:
This poem is an exploration of social restrictions based mostly on gender in a same sex relationship, the disadvantages and advantages as well as a brief mention of "might be easier to be gay if you married into my family". Ultimately, I believe this is a love poem to Emily's soulmate Sue. Though I reluctantly admit it might be another woman.
Because the Bee may blameless hum
For thee a Bee I do become
List even unto me
In Emily's poems bees are often seductive
men (eg. in the poem A Bee his burnished Carriage), contrasted by a passive woman, a flower.
In this context, Emily says that men can be overtly sexual without it being seen as abnormal.
Emily feels like she could more freely express her passionate sexuality towards her lover if she were a man.
And "list" is just an archaic word for stripe. "List even" refers to the uniform black and yellow stripes pattern on a bee.
Acknowledging Emily's attraction to women… This stanza takes on another meaning as it can also refer to Emily being able to love a woman freely had she been a man.
Because the Flowers unafraid
May lift a look on thine, a Maid
Alway a Flower would be.
In contrast to being a man, there are advantages in being a woman.
Women can interact with each other more freely than a man and a woman can.
Emily have less social restrictions placed upon her and her lover, who is confirmed now to be a woman (and of course there is one woman in particular we all suspect...)
Because of this, Emily ought to stay a woman.
Nor Robins, Robins need not hide
When Thou upon their Crypts intrude
So Wings bestow on Me
Or Petals, or a Dower of Buzz
That Bee to ride, or Flower of Furze
I that way worship Thee.
Symbolically, if flowers represent women and bees represent men, what are robins? Could they just be another metaphor for men? Idk I'm reaching, but Emily often pairs bird motifs with nesting aka making a home (eg. in the poem To own a Susan of my own and Her breast is fit for pearls). Meaning, in this poem, robins are those you share a home with, your family.
Emily uses robins because American robins tend to nest near human houses [1], much like how family share their homes among themselves.
As her lover's family, her lover can freely come and go into Emily's home.
Emily concludes she can either be family, a woman or be gifted the attributes of a man (dower meaning property inherited by a widow or a man's version of dowry).
To explain "Flower of Furze", furze (or ulex) is an evergreen shrub. It's thorny, has yellow flowers, extremely flammable, but tends to survive fires somehow. In Cornwall, Devon and many parts of Britain, lovers give each other furze when the blossom is at peak on May Day. [2] So the phrase "flower of Furze" doesn't just have good alliteration game, it's also a romantic symbol.
Suppose I need not explain "ride".
But no matter if Emily were bee or flower, man or woman, she would still love her lover.
Lastly, I would acknowledge that I have no evidence is poem was written for Sue. But based on how I've interpreted the poem, I am certain it was definitely written as a wlw piece.

DISCALIMER:
I am an unqualified reader who just really likes analysing Dickinson's poems. My interpretations, though supported by some internet research, is up for debate. You may occasionally see me justifying / rescinding my views in the reblogs. But more likely I'd be too tired to explain any longer and just leave the post as it is.

this was the poem btw
Apparently with No Surprise by Emily Dickinson
Apparently with no surprise
To any happy flower,
The frost beheads it at its play
In accidental power.
The blond assassin passes on,
The sun proceeds unmoved
To measure off another day
For an approving God.
gave the boy a poem asked him to identify words and phrases associated with delight and the first word he says is assassin 😶

"The person that I had been then existed no longer. If I had been able to conjure him up and to speak to him he would not have listened to me and, if he had, would not have understood what I said. He was like someone whom I had known once, but he was no part of me."
"I stood in front of the mirror and stared at my face. The reflection that I saw was unfamiliar to me. It was a weird, frightening image. My reflection had become stronger than my real self and I had become like an image in a mirror."

NOTE: *Okay I’m confused on Tumblr’s submit multiple drawings in one post suddenly it’s this description I am writing now, and then continue submit art to the next????? I hope it doesn’t lower the quality because at my end it looks blur for some reason. Or probably this is the LONGEST post ever!??*
Lots of continuation here because I posted firstly at Twitter.
So, time to copy paste my tweets from there to here.
1.  I hope peeps arent bored of me draw MMZ characters into several movies/shows I watch. This is one of things if I feel artblock/mood. Also Dickinson is//chef kisses but in this case it’s not about Phantom & poem thingy, or you can imagine that too if want.
2. Continuation of Phantom mysteriously becomes invisible with changes from original episode, but quickly draw this; my free trial AppleTV expires tomorrow so gotta rewatch the episode ASAP. Hope tonight have time to do more continuation & some redraw favourite scenes in this episode!
3. Phantom: GOD NO I don’t want to hear my sister’s private life in this crucial time!
4. Phantom: Nah got no time to listen to my sister’s private life that I have no intention to intrude here but also if I’m the eldest brother I won’t be giving you my blessing either.
Plio is just random oc I just made up to fit to an unloveable character from Dickinson series xD
5.  FINALLY finish the Phantom being invisible redraw scenes! Took long. The rest of the story go watch Dickinson if you’re interested!! don’t want to spoil much here. Also wanna draw other stuff. Enjoy!
6.  Bye Plio! xDDD
If any curious what is Dickinson series, it’s a lesbian historical comedy drama series loosely based on real life poet Emily Dickinson, which it also touches the constraints of society, gender, & family in 19th century throughout her life... witha modern twist!!
In MMZ au ofc change a bit. But seriously. That series is 10/10. I rarely gave full marks on media I consumed btw. Q_Q (probably because Dickinson saved and accompanied me when I was positive covid.) I laughed, I cry, I learnt a lot, especially it change my views on life and death and stuff. ANd also, they debunk the myths about Emily Dickinson!!! Go try watch it if you feel want to!

btw you guys I'm reading Emily Dickinson's Gothic: Goblin with a Gauge, basically a book going through how emily dickinson's poems are very heavily formed in context of the gothic tradition, specifically women's gothic lit, and the author mentioned that while there's not literal documentation of emily having read the mysteries of udolpho, considering the other books mentioned by her in letters and stuff, it's highly unlikely she hadn't read some radcliffe also, so!! very exciting

Well, I'd parent my balrog better than Victor Fucking Frankenstein could EVER so I'd just go on walks with my hellbeast safe in the knowledge that no one will dare catcall me
Aksnskalld LEXI I HAVE TOO MANY WIPS TOO!
Ok ok here's SOMETHING
This HAS to be a resurrected Jason, not a never-died Jason, bc it gives him way more CORRECT and off the fucking wall hot takes
He's going to Gotham U, which means that sometimes random villain attacks spare his professors from his rants but then Crane GETS IT because Jason almost had them convinced, gdi
The professors, btw: (oh wait there's 3)
His creative writing prof, who's as energetic as Jason, not older by that much, and passionate about stories from typically unheard voices causing change, and also down for pretty much anything. Jason is his most prolific writer and plays teacher to his peers half the time without meaning to. He writes a lot about growing up Alley, and also about... cults? Which is... fine, he's clearly not in a cult now, but... you good, buddy?
His poetry prof, who also does some literature classes. This guy is older than Bruce and Bruce-like in that he says he's open to all interpretations of a work and GENERALLY is, but when he's gotten himself stuck on an idea he's STUCK on it and it ends up as the essay topic. Jason proceeds to write his essay about his hot take, with an aside to the notion that some people believe this other thing but while they're not wrong, it's a narrow or basic interpretation. He does this with his poetry too, breaking every rule the prof gives for an assignment but writing too damn good of a poem to get anything less than an A. Prof compares him to Emily Dickinson given how much he talks about death. It's... mildly worrying but poetry is morbid so it's probably fine...
Jason's favorite prof and the one he's mentally deemed his English Grandma, the main literature teacher who IS open to any and all hot takes, and who will read every word of his-pages-longer-than-necessary essays and bring up additional points to fuel his theories or points that challenge him to rework it, which honestly just makes him respect her more because she always does it in an expanding-knowledge way, not a shutting-down one like he's used to.
He has to be in the theater club and steal a show. Even if he's cast as a main character, a villain, or Tree #6, he steals the show without meaning to because its JASON and he learned theater at Alfred's knee.
Finally it is mandatory that his whole class gets kidnapped and held hostage by the Riddler. All his classmates are shitting their pants in terror (or considering their physics midterms and wondering if Riddler offing them is a GOOD thing) and the prof is trying fruitlessly to deescalate while Riddler RANTS furiously about the syllabus, until Jason pipes up from the back with his hottest hot take yet and saves them all by debating literature with E Nygma for 3+ hours until.Batman and Robin arrive
*screams into a pillow*
