Actually both Thornton and Margaret’s internal monologues about each other are weird af.
#the plot choices are mostly good!! her lying about Frederick and him knowing and being jealous#but also still protecting her about the inquest#and then her KNOWING that#is a good choice for the story it’s telling#which is why the show works so well#but their actual internal dialogue about these events#his jealousy/frankly lust-filled obsession with her is unsettling#and her being like ‘I have fallen in his esteem and I HATE that because I loved looking down on him’ and you can tell she really does miss#the POWER it gave her. is also weird and bad#and the very twisted version of Lizzy changing her mind about Darcy#it lacks all the humor and all the delicacy#and it lacks the steady vision of truth tbh#that makes Austen so real every time#like actually there is darkness to gaskell’s storytelling. and she doesn’t intend it!#but it’s there. because her goal kinda just is the tension#anyway I’m so sorry if I’m ruining your day#but yeah. reflecting
